Action Bronson Could Be Removed From Yet Another College Performance

Students at Trinity College have created a petition demanding that Action Bronson not perform at the school.

Despite attempting to clear the air after he was removed from the artist roster at George Washington University’s “Spring Fling” concert, rapper Action Bronson could possibly be removed from another concert at a university.

XXLMag.com reports that students at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut have created a Change.org petition titled, “Remove Action Bronson from Trinity College’s Spring Weekend Concert.”

The petition, which has received a little over 1,000 supporters as of today (April 20), states that a headlining performance from Bronson is an “endorsement of violence, specifically against women and minorities.”

“We believe that Action Bronson headlining Spring Weekend is an endorsement of violence, specifically against women and minorities,” the petition reads. “This is why Trinity should follow the lead of Toronto’s North by Northeast (NXNE) Festival and George Washington University’s Spring Fling by disinviting Action Bronson. We fully recognize that we will not receive a refund and that we are contractually bound to pay Action Bronson. However, we think it would be better for Trinity students, and the institution’s reputation, for the concert to be cancelled regardless.”

It is currently unclear what actions Trinity College plans to take, if any.

While attempting to clear the air on his lyrics in a letter penned earlier this month, Bronson spoke specifically on his “Consensual Rape” song.

“I wrote a song called ‘Consensual Rape’ that admittedly contains lyrics and a general sentiment of violence towards woman which I never meant to represent who I am but rather to depict a story,” Action Bronson wrote. “I approach my music as other types of artists approach their work, and I don’t always intend the stories that I tell, the characters that I play in them or the lyrics I lay down to be taken literally.”

    1. This is what happens when gay people have kids and raise them to be a bunch of over sensitive pussies

    2. Action Bronson gets removed from college performances, while Mr. date-r*pe Rick Ross gets invited to the White House. Smh.

    3. I signed because he dissed Ghostface. Also because I don’t like too many outsiders in my culture. The link is in the article, folks.

    4. ama make a song about being a pedophile, its just a story from the streets so don’t get mad at me, ok?

    5. Comedians knew not to do colleges if they did dirty material a long time ago. I think its time for rappers to start declining college shows.

      1. lol no, accept the invitation, take the money, and wait for the show to be cancelled by the college. Easy money.

    6. lol, private liberal arts college. These kids are in a PRIVATE LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGE THAT CENSORS ARTISTS. It’s like their degree is two times as useless

    7. this is utterly insane to me. He’s an artist, his songs are art that depict reality. Violence towards women is a reality. I don’t see the problem with him rapping about it. Vladimir Nabokov wrote “Lolita,” a novel about a pedophile, which is considered one of the greatest literary works of the 20th century. Does that make Nabokov a supporter of raping kids? No, hes a genius author who told a story. The same is true with Bronson.

    8. College kids are all for free speech just as long as it is something that they want to hear, doesn’t make them feel motional, triggers them, might offend someone somewhere else, doesn’t require a trip to their “safe space.”
