The Game Reacts To Billboard’s “Greatest Rappers Of All Time” List; Names His Own Top 10

The Game took to Instagram yesterday (November 21) to decry Billboard’s list of “The 10 Greatest Rappers of All Time,” which was published last week (November 12).

“y’all trippin on the order of this bullshit & bitch where the fuck 2Pac & Ice Cube ??? & I guess Lauren Hill can out rap@SnoopDogg right ?” The Game writes under an image of Billboard’s list. “Y’all out y’all mothafuckin’ mind !!! & just disrespect LL Cool J & KRS ONE huh ??? (Now I’m bout to roll my blunt to ‘Doggystyle’ jump on my tour bus & zone out to ‘All Eyes On Me’, followed by ‘Makaveli’ & ‘Death Certificate’ & take me a fuckin nap on this bullshit….. then wake up & read the comments while a bunch of non hip hop educated fuck boys argue below… #FuckYallList”

At the end of the aforementioned post, The Game reeled off his own picks for the Top 10 greatest rappers of all time.

    “MY LIST

    1. 2pac & B.I.G
    2. Nas
    3. Rakim
    4. Eminem
    5. Jay-Z
    6. Ice Cube
    7. Snoop Dogg
    8. Andre 3000
    9. Jadakiss
    10. Big L & FUCK YO OPINION !!!!!!!!!”

In a subsequent post, The Game merged together three images and a video of Snoop Dogg condemning the list. The first image is a picture of Billboard’s list with a red cross through it; the second is The Game’s Top 10 followed by a third image of Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and Tupac.

In the caption field, The Game criticized Billboard for failing to include Tupac on the list, a sentiment also expressed by Snoop Dogg.

“#Billboard smokin crack wit that bullshit ass list !!! I had to correct y’all careless mistakes & service hip hop right… & understand this shit right here: DON’T YOU EVER AS LONG AS YOU WALK GOD’S GREEN EARTH MAKE A HIP HOP LIST WITHOUT 2PAC,@SNOOPDOGG OR @ICECUBE IN IT !!!!!! Fuck wrong wit you fuck ass people ?!?!?!?!? #FuckBillboardsList”

    1. Game’s list is solid but fuck Eminem (his rap/pop music is garbage) and Snoop should not be in the top 10. I’m not so sure about Big L and Jadakiss making top 10, but top 20 for sure. Obviously 2Pac and Ice Cube should definitely be in the top 10. It’s a no brainer. It’s simply ludicrous if you don’t include them. Another forgotten rapper is Kool G Rap, he is also a top 10 rapper. But fuck a list anyway. There are so many great rappers in hip-hop. Who cares about who’s the so called best of the best, because if you think about it, Big Pun never makes the list but could have easily rapped circles around everybody in that top 10. Even Canibus in his prime was incredible.

    2. Why do people worry about Billboard, best shit to do it is like the Israelis labeling Yasser Arafat ‘irrelevant’ and it worked. Fuck the Billboard, so you have Eminem but you don’t have Treach , where would you place a Grand Puba? Kane? Krs-One? oh, you don’t want to go that far back, ok, where do you put Black Thought? Q-tip? LL? D.O.C et al…..

      1. Israelis labeling yasser irrelevant? Get your ZioNazi ass outta here. You better worry about ur country Israel, its going down soon! Best believe that! Its Destiny

      2. By labeling you mean the Israelis poisined a President that happens to be their neighbor. You Israelis are nothing but savage terrorists

    3. THE GAME is getting more real…….he checked YOUNG THUG’s fake azz…THE GAME is TOP 10 rapper of 2015…….#THIS IS HOW WE DO wth FIDDY….lol..the good old dayz!…

    4. I’m a fan of Kiss, but he shouldn’t be anywhere near a top 10. His discography is too average. He has nothing even close to a classic album. Maybe his first one, but that had a bunch of filler on it too. If there was a list for mixtape kings, he’d be on there.

      1. his first album had filler??? FOH, IDIOT! That album is a classic and I could never understand why you dumb fucks never understood this. There’s no fuckin filler on there!

      2. Yeah, an album that’s been available for streaming for 2 days is already a classic. Typical modern day fan quick to call everything classic.

      3. “Jadakiss dropped a solo they lovin’ his voice
I’m lovin’ his shit but the hood thought it was MOIST”

Yeah. That’s Kiss’ own partner Sheek Louch on his perspective of Kiss first solo album. That’s what most people thought when that album dropped. Kiss has some classic mixtapes, but no classic albums. He’s one of the greats, but not top 10 great. There’s too many other artists that have waaaaay stronger catalogue’s than Kiss.

    5. Don’t always agree with game on everything personally but he’s right. What about grand master flash? Slick Rick? Method man or any of WU really lots of legendary rappers should have been mentioned on this list and were overlooked for Lauren hill who is more of a singer than rapper. No disrespect to anyone I just think that the people writing up these lists should actually listen to hip hop and learn some history before spewing out that bull shit.

    10. The good thing is that Bill BORED has finally lost all credibility within the Hip Hop community by exposing itself as an entity that is completely out of touch with, indifferent to and disrespectful of Black, Latino, urban and Hip Hop culture. Now maybe these millionaire rappers and producers will pool their resources and take greater control of Hip Hop media and all other aspects of the genre and culture.

Here’s something to think about just to stress the importance of the above point. Would Billboard ever dare to leave Hank Williams, Johnny Cash or George Jones off of the top ten Country Singers list??? I think not! In fact, they wouldn’t even dare to tell Country Music fans who their “ten” best artists of all time are.

If anything, Billboard wouldn’t dare make anything less than a “top 100” Country artists of all time list.

    11. Hahahahahahahah I love how he bitched about Billboard leaving LL and KRS out… and then he leaves them out of his list too!!!

    12. .1. Curren$y. 2. Nickelus f. 3.Weezy F. Baby (fuck tunchi.)4.Ludacris. 5.drake. 6. Ace hood. 7. Big krit. 8. Kid daytona. 9. Hit-boy. 10. Pryce & oktane aka Audio Push.

    13. 1. Nas
      2. Eminem
      3. Jay Z
      4. 2Pac
      5. Dre & Snoop
      6. Kanye west
      7. The Roots
      8. Kendrick
      9. Common
      10. Outkast

Honourable mentions: Rakim, Biggie, Big Pun, Big L, Lupe, Mos def, Talib kweli, Ice Cube, Royce…

      1. How is Dre the 5th best rapper of all time when he doesn’t even write his own lyrics?

The Roots are a band. Black Thought is the rapper (and sometimes Dice Raw).

Kayne isn’t that good of a rapper, just (used to) make dope beats with o.k. lyrics.

      2. Agree with your points. My list above in my option is the greatest hip hop artists rather than purely rappers. Hence the inclusion of Dre, Kanye and the Roots.

      3. There’s a big difference between the best artists – who can create brilliant songs and albums which portray a wide range of emotions and are relatable (e.g Dre and Kanye)..and the best MC/lyricists/wordsmiths – who can write the best lines and demonstrate clever wordplay and imagination in their lyrics (e.g Em, Rakim, pharaoh)…
If we’re talking purely lyricists, skill on the mic and wordplay…the list above looks very different…and would include: Eminem,
        Chino XL,
        Crooked I,
        Big Pun,
        Tech 9ne,
        Elzhi,
        RA rugged man,
        Black thought,
        Andre 3k,
        Royce,
        Rakim,
        Nas,
        Jay Z,
        Pharaoh monch,
        Budden,
        Lupe,
        Jada,
        Copywrite,
        King Los,
        Locksmith,
        Canibus….wow too many to name!

      1. Kendrick has 3 classic albums already. Most emcees with a career 10 years longer than his struggle to drop 1 classic. Same with Big (if you take the double album as enough content to make 2 separate albums)

      2. I am a big kendrick fan. Section 80 and gkmc can be seen as classics because they were released more than two years ago.TPAB needs time to resonate as a classic, since it dust got released this year. For now, kdot has two classics

      1. Before Wayne or Drake, yes, but not before Kendrick.

DMX had 2 classics, and a bunch of shitty subpar albums. Kendrick already dropped 3 classics.

    14. 1. 2pac
      2. Eminem
      3. Biggie
      4. Rakim
      5. Jay-z
      6. Nas
      7. DMX
      8. Jadakiss
      9. Lil Wayne
      10. Andre 3000
      11. J. Cole
      12. Ice Cube
      13. Big L
      14. Big Daddy Kane
      15. Dj Quik

    15. 1. 2pac, 2.EMINEM, 3.WIZ KHALIFA, 4. LIL WAYNE, 5. DJ KAHLED, 6.MACHINE GUN KELLY, 7.CHRIS BROWN, 8.DRAKE, 9 TYGA, 10 SEAN KINGSTON OR KANYE WEST..

    16. yes, game. lauryn hill can out rap snoop. and snoop is an og, but he’s more about flow and delivery and his voice stands out. lauryn got him lyrically, she could rap circles around him.

    17. Man, y’all need to get over your “Tupac and BIG was the greatest rappers of all time no matter what!”-bullshit, and start actually judging rappers without being afraid of getting criticism for it. Em, Nas and BIG should be top three. Get out of here with that Jay-z and Rakim shit. Y’all dumb

      1. Big was the best ever no-one comes close pac second and game sound dumb as fuck snoop can’t be on a list when he’s made twenty albums and only one classic beat it

    18. From a pure Hip Hop MC perspective, they had 2 on the list that were in my opinion a must have in the Top 10. That is Lauryn Hill and Rakim, maybe even Eminem. But everyone else is Top 11-20. There are too many rappers that are better than Jay-Z and Jadakiss, or even Andre 3000, it’s not that Biggie is over rated but people are over praising him, Biggie is not in Top 10. Like I said too many other dope MC out there for that. For example, Tarik a.ka Black Thought from the Roots, or Mos Def. The coldest MC to ever come out of Brooklyn is Mos Def, not Jay-Z. pc out

    19. Game’s list is pretty much in point except for the cop-out Big/2-pac at 1 and having Eminen too high if on there at all.

      Nas
      Rakim
      Ice Cube
      Jadakiss
      BIG
      Andre 3k
      2Pac
      Kanye
      Raekwon
      Jay-Z/BDK/LL

    20. 1. Biggie
      2. 2 Pac
      3. Jay Z
      4. Nas
      5. Eminem
      6. Kanye West
      7. Andre 3000
      8. LL Cool J
      9. Snoop Dogg
      10. Ice Cube

      1. …..yet not 1 classic album.

Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers, and The Eminem Show were all very good, but there is a lot of forgettable music on them.

      2. Becaused of Eminem’s flow and he is skilled lyricist.Opinions vary for each person, but i feel he should be in the top ten.

    21. Billboard list need to be thrown in a dumpster!!!
      1.NAS 6.JADAKISS
      2.2Pac 7.AZ
      3.B.I.G 8.RAKIM
      4.JAYZ 9.Big Daddy KANE
      5.SCARFACE 10.LL COOL J

    22. You cant just come out and say Top 10 Rappers ever. You got to have to split it up in categories like:
      Top 5 rap group
      Top 5 creative rappers
      Top 5 underground rappers
      Top 5 retired rappers
      Top 5 successful rappers
Top 5 rappers to ft in a track……….

Then you can get all the number 1’s and put it together to make a top …. list.

    23. 1) 2pac
      2) Rakim
      3) Nas
      4) BIG
      5) Masta Ace
      6) AZ
      7) Andre 3000
      8) Common
      9) Guru
      10) KRS One

Honorable Mentions: Q-Tip, Big L, Kool G Rap, Kane, Baba Zumbi, Erick Sermon, Black Thought, Posdunous

    24. 1) rza
      2) gza

    29. AMEN GAME!!!! These people shouldn’t even pretend to know hip hop. I mean Damn MACKELMORE BEAT KENDRICK FOR THE GRAMMY!!…WTF!@$!….NUFF SAID

      1. When I and maybe others think of Kendrick Lamar I have two songs in my head. Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe, and Money Trees. I prefer these songs and Mackelmore is a rapper who hasn’t produced any good rap songs atleast I dont think so but some people have horrible taste in rap. As for the Game I haven’t listened to him so I can’t say.

    30. Big L should at least be top 4 wtf is wrong with y’all he showed up tupac in (deadly combination) just cause a person is more known do t mean they better and remember that real talk

    36. I’m pretty sure I haven’t had any alcohol today, but when I read that list I thought for sure I must be drunk. So apparently there is know one that works for Billboard that was born before the year say 1990. First real Rap started to die in the late 90’s. there has been not much more than a handful of decent rapper’s from the late 90’s to now. Certainly NONE of them should be anywhere near a legit Greatest List. Look it started in the 70’s Sugar Hill Gang and more, 80’s (So many to mention) A couple to start: Run DMC and Jam Master J, Kurtis Blow, Chuck D, Slick Rick and Doug e Fresh and SO many more. Early 90’s Many list No brainers: Tupac, Biggie, “Snoop and Dre”, (even Heavy D- who kept it clean but still very entertaining,) Ice Cube, and Eminem. Towards the late 90’s Rap is when it all started going down hill. Todays rappers are not I the same class as 80’s and early 90’s rappers, I was a young teen in the 80’s when real rapper first burst on to the scene to set the standard for all else to follow. The late 90’s early 2000’s did bring a few very talented ladys to rap, Missy, Nicki Minaj who are right there with Salt n Peppa. Billboard that was a real sh**y try. Do some research and try it again, attempt, give it another shot.

    37. Split it up into 2 separate era’s. Real Rap era the 70’s to late 90’s. And whatever you want to call stuff like the crap Drake does from 2000’s to now. There are only a few from the 2000’s I would give props to, like Lil’ Jon, and Nicki Minaj. Those two can entertain for sure.
