The 10 Best Kendrick Lamar Songs Listed By Complex

Complex recently compiled a list of the 25 best Kendrick Lamar songs.

Sure, the Compton, California rapper may have only completed three studio albums, but the ranking takes into account the possibility that Kendrick hasn’t even made his best song yet.

Still, the Complex staff sifted through K. Dot’s mixtapes, features and albums to craft a list of his top 25 songs.

Four songs off Lamar’s major label debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d. city, rank in the Top 10. Three tracks are from his latest offering, To Pimp A Butterfly, and two songs are off his breakthrough project, Section.80.

Kendrick’s top song, according to Complex, is “m.A.A.d. city” featuring MC Eiht.

Complex’s Associate Editor, Insanul Ahmed, penned Kendrick’s 2014 Complex cover story. He also described why the publication chose “m.A.A.d city” as K. Dot’s #1 song.

“’m.A.A.d city’ is easily the most lyrical and most cinematic song ever recorded by one of rap’s latest, greatest storytellers,” he wrote. “Running nearly six minutes long, it’s carefully detailed to feature just about every hallmark of Kendrick’s music; spitfire rapping, a song that turns into another song, autobiographical details splintered across a larger narrative, nods to West Coast OGs like MC Eiht and Ice Cube, and vocal effects courtesy of TDE’s go-to engineer, MixedByAli.”

    4. How is “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” not on this list? And the remix with JAY Z may be even better than the original! That record is timeless

    5. Seriously> That list is missing some major ones…

      1) Look out for Detox
      2) Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst
      3) Mortal Man
      4) Ronald Reagan Era
      5) Ab-Soul’s Outro
      6) Black Boy Fly
      7) Rigamortis
      8) Poe Mans Dreams
      9) Keisha’s Song
      10) m.A.A.d city

      My favorite features:
      1) Game ft Kendrick Lamar “The City”
      2) Big Sean ft Kendrick “Control” (cliche but can’t deny he killed it)
      3) Jay Rock ft. Kendrick Lamar “Pay for It”
      4) Game ft Kendrick Lamar “See No Evil”

    6. Should definitely include “Poe Man’s Dreams”, “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” and “Cloud 10”.

    7. 1. m.A.A.d. city
      2. Sing About Me/Dying of Thirst
      3. HiiiPower
      4. Mortal Man

      6. Cartoons and Cereal
      7. Blacker The Berry
      8. Ronald Reagan Era
      9. Wesley’s Theory or Black Boy Fly
      10. Ignorance Is Bliss

    8. Great list. I have no problems with the songs, although I would have a slightly different order. I’d switch Money Trees and m.A.A.d city, and maybe switch A.D.H.D or HiiiPower with Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe or Rigamortus (which is ridiculously underrated)
