too bad this muthafucker is too busy putting out bullshit radio songs with trey songs. Also lupe fiasco dick riders are almost as bad as lil wayne dick riders. Im gonna say this once, and please do get offended. Lupe is NOT the GOAT and is not yet even in the conversation as a top 5 GOAT. stop that shit.
stupidity in motion and well just dump comments.
fat folks always pissed bout somethin
Because your opinion hold weight in the real world….
@chunky chip
I feel you on that. No homo. but I think wayne fans are worse tho. But I still think both their fans be hyping both them up like they saviors or something.
how dare yall disagree!!
all of you will get my fat dick rammed up your asses.
He has to be the very Best of last decade. that’s for fucking sure. Disagree and you’re wrong.
i dont disagree but remember lupe was gone for a long time before lazers and his fans were hungry for him. lazers didnt really fill our stomachs b/c it was a atlantic record not a lupe record but lil wayne fans are wayyyy worst he almost sold a million in one week for the carter 4 and that cd not even good watch the throne is wayy better in my opinion
Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album will silence all you fools, who talk bad about Lupe, one of the most talented and well-rounded rappers, this genre ever had. Food & Liquor is the modern day Illmatic and nothing that has been released since, comes even close to it. It’s such a masterpiece, from a musical, conceptual and lyrical standpoint. This was Hip Hop’s perfection and lyrical zenith, the honest emotions the beautiful poetry, the metaphoric speech and the countless double-entendres. Lupe = GOAT contender. Food & Liquor = best album of the last decade.
how you gonna re release your album for a 5 year anniversary? where they do that at?
and then to only add 3 unreleased songs
what a scam artist
not him but atlantic records is releasing his albums
dope
Its a cool track i cud bump this his word play was nice 5 stars cuz this sound like something he would put out

Lupe is a breath of fresh air, but you are hyperventilating dude. Chill.
why are there so many fucking idiots on these hip hop blogs
lol @ 17 unofficial mixtapes
Food & Liquor and The Cool put him above everyone else, the concept of The Cool alone is better than the rap game. Lupe could go bar for bar with everyone, dude is the most talented ever. He has what all the greatest have and unifies it to the best skills ever. Food & Liquor has the best Hip Hop songs of all time.

Great
good
This is super old! still dope tho!
Wow, and to think if he was about encouraging the ghetto youth when he just played a 180 distorted for his convenience, by all means, but if it’s to perpetuate a facade of righteousness for the ghetto? Then I think it’s ass backwards of him to have these subtle jabs to assure he’s about the hood. I’m not buying it. He’s putting up a front acting like he’s against Capitalism. It’s crazy, say when you have something in your mind that you want to sociologically justify, a person may willfully distort such through selective hearing, not mutually considering it’s general then specific, and have Lupe Fiasco pick it apart? Wack. Wack wack wack. But of course logically, when somebody is not of the same cognitive level, people will choose to hear what they please. Relatively? Psychologically? this is considered cognitive dissonance. Something that makes this track laughable. To be conveniently objective to reassert a dimension of personality which you know nothing of? Just use that as something to leverage an exploitation as opposed to a deconstruction? Is disappointing coming from Lupe Fiasco. This would be me self-righteously being faceitious towards his principles. 2 stars. Wack ass.
I call hax. I love it when people learn new words and try to apply them whenever possible, for the simple sake of using them. You should have came out with this “thorough” analysis 6 years ago when the song came out and you were probably on Lupe Fiasco’s testicles. If you had already heard it and didn’t like it, then don’t click on the link.
Yo wat the hell are u talkin about. You just f’in rambled. Say wat you want to say more concisely and without a crazy amount of questions. This aint jeopardy.
He;s discrediting the dope game. Understandable. But doing it facetiously. That’s just pretentious. Egotistical. I love it, I just don’t think it’s effective. Killer Mike said it best when relating to Dead Prez, Dead Prez raises conscious awareness of social oppression and the dope game in an encouraging way to offer alternatives. Be militant. Lupe isn’t doing that. He’s being pretentious. I’ve been on Lupe since Food and Liquor. Sorry I forgot this track was on there. He’s conveniently objective. Incredibly intelligent. But you can’t be intelligent or intellectually inclined for the sake of the ego and that’s all I hear on this track. He did a cypher for BET that would attest to this claim next to Styles P where he kind of subtly humiliates Styles P yet states he understands the notions of the ghetto mentality. That doesn’t sound principled to me. Lupe is talented. I’ve been on him for a while now I don’t question his integrity. But principality and integrity are two different schools of thought.
He’s a Hip Hop intellectuals wet dream. I cum every time I hear his wordplay. But he’s not using his intellectualism as effective as he could. Hearing B.M.F? I loved. But it was also pretentious. To tell people, you don’t know about the Illuminati because you party too much. Okay, I saw that as, wow, he’s getting at people like that. I love it. I was pissed to hear too many rappers not attack another person’s ego for not knowing about the powers that be. But now, in retrospect, I don’t see that as effective. Killer Mike said it best…
Where does your dislike from Lupe exactly? I have to agree with WACKA4LYF when he says:”I call hax. I love it when people learn new words and try to apply them whenever possible, for the simple sake of using them.” Your argument is sooooooo pety. So I may agree with you when you say some of his stances are contradictory but what the hell are you proving? What rapper do you know has has been proven innocent of this?(rhetorical question cus’ you can’t) This is Hip-Hop rappers spill out rhymes all the time that we do not have a thorough understanding of. Listen to a Kanye CD(half of that shit is soo personal noone knows), listen to a Jay-Z CD, where he purposely pronounces declarations of being in love with evil things(money, sex, and power) but praises the good things and then in December 4th, i think on the black album he says:
I Pray i’m forgiven
For every bad decision i made
Every sister i played
Cause i’m still paranoid to this day
And it’s nobody fault i made the decisions i made
This is the life i chose or rather the life that chose me.”
Its the beauty of HipHop. Also, Lupe released this song at a pivotal point in his career where he out grew most of his hood rhetoric and tackled more conscious/socio-political rhymes, so I call complete bullshit if your the same dude who posted the reply saying you followed lupe from food and liquor cus no you did’nt obviously.Your reaching my dude, that shit was like propaganda. I’m not a believer of calling people haters but you are an exception. You not once critiqued him musically yet gave him 2 stars(on a dope track)??!!!!
Look, if you’re not up on this tip of self-righetous rappers spitting knowledge as though their sincerest of intentions are to uplift the masses then you can’t be telling subtly telling that I can’t critique him let alone give him two stars. You’ve Hip Hop is a beauty and managed to mention Jay-Z and Kanye in the same writing. No Hip Hop intellectual will ever give credit to Kanye or Jay-Z as advocates for positive Hip Hop culture. They’ll give them credit as pioneers. But not advocates of positive Hip Hop. No no no. Lupe was always socio-politically inclined. I take it as antics. Appealing to a wider fan base, predominately white kids. who were able to buy CD’s, as somebody else said so eloquently. He then realized, and probably still does, that the majority of his fans are suburban white kids that feel culturally secure when listening to him as opposed to somebody who is truly about raising awareness to the oppression of the hood like Killer Mike. Don’t try and get at me by challenging to my commitment to a Hip Hop artist. That’s the quickest way to lose to rationality and personal reason. Obsess over an artists intellect and creativity out of mere lyrical capability. Lupe’s a great lyricist. Socially conscious. But his motives are questionable. And when referencing socially conscious Hip Hop? Be careful of throwing Jay-Z and Kanye. Kanye went from talking about “the government administering AIDS” to the “Devil wearing Prada… yada yada yada”. Kanye sold out, predictably. As did Jay-Z and they have absolutely no merit in regards to respectable socially conscious Hip Hop. Lupe’s a last of a dying breed when selling records on par with those two. And those lyrics you referenced? Sound like self-righteousness legitimizing the lack of self-victimization. Which is something taboo. God forbid you acknowledge you’ve been victimized. Or else you’ll be seen as something worth being pitied. I’m all for self-empowerment. But you can’t disregard victimization. Especially if that’s an ongoing phenomenon of the ghetto.
“So I may agree with you when you say some of his stances are contradictory but what the hell are you proving? What rapper do you know has has been proven innocent of this?(rhetorical question cus’ you can’t)”
And I hate to pick and choose what to deconstruct. But Nas has and has been thee most consistent within this. To the point where he’s even explicitly said some eloquent lyrics on justifying bigotry that I pardoned it with his principality. :/
Where does it mention that I said Jay-z or Kanye West were positive rappers or consciously inclined?? Or did I say their subject matter were sometimes juxtaposed(at face value). You’re twisting words “that’s the quickest way to lose to rationality and personal reason.” You managed to put that in defense before you argue why Jay-z and Kanye’s writing are’nt beautiful. I don’t get you.
Your quote:
” I take it as antics. Appealing to a wider fan base, predominately white kids. who were able to buy CD’s, as somebody else said so eloquently. He then realized, and probably still does, that the majority of his fans are suburban white kids that feel culturally secure when listening to him as opposed to somebody who is truly about raising awareness to the oppression of the”…..and so on…basically you’re bashing him because he isn’t as hardcore anti-oppression of the hood as Killer Mike is..and also your mad at him because he has a wide fan base that he earned through rapping about the extensive topics found on food and liquor and the cool(diamond mining inSierraLeone,Racism,Skateboarding, Poverty, and even jus straight hood shit at times)? Sounds like a compliment mostly(imo) because actually he has a great multi-racial following, but I get that its a backhanded diss at saying he should only appeal to white people. Lil Wayne raps about being a blood and drug dealing that I’m sure his HUGE white fan base(that fucking rivals Lady Gaga and shit) relates to. Your argument is petty and you just have prejudice against Lupe.
“Do not let yourself be tainted with a barren skepticism.â€-Pasteur
CNN interview:
“Shoot em up, just shoot em up, what…kill kill kill, murder, murder, murder.â€
Following that Lemon cut to the chase and asked him about glorifying violence in his music. Obviously on the defensive, he answered saying:
“I feel it’s the obvious thing for the media to kinda point out one of the most violent lyrical records that I made….I made a lot of records about children…not a lot but I made records about children, about struggle and those are never the songs that are talked about. There’s no love for these songs. There’s only attention put on the songs where there’s violence in it but the reality of it is, I’m only speaking about reality.â€
When asked by Lemon if he would consider changing some of his lyrics, he stayed true to himself and stayed 100% honest saying:
“Never. Never. Music comes from life. I write about what I see. I write about what I live. I write about what I see other people live and I use a little bit of imagination to talk to them.â€
Nas a great rapper. Lyrically the man puts so much heart and lyrically paints a canvas outlining the ills of society, predominantly the hood. One of the best to ever do it. Lots of respectable rappers do this-they write about things that kids should never partake in(gangs, drugs) but finds it like a moral duty to make songs directed at the youth to better them selves. Nas was obviously promoting violence yet he he makes songs singling out younger kids for generations to come(a responsibility for legendary rappers)to not partake in violence. It makes sense to me but can you say that is’nt in a way contradictory. Its like a kid who grows up with his dad in a gang, of course the dad is gonna protect them and say don’t join a gang but how often do these cases turn out with the kid actually bettering him self. I’m just being real. Yeah Don lemmon’s gay ass and the media use these to opress socially conscious hiphop culture and I’m not saying I agree that they do that, but You can’t say they don’t have a small point.
great track
lupe is sik, buuuut, he gets overhyped by people on every hiphop site and youtube vids, hes a nice rapper but hes no wer nea top 10
nice track 3/5
You dumb fuck, NOBODY touches him lyrically, he’s better than Eminem, Nas and Jay-Z. Plus, he has to albums that outshine their whole catalouges, aside from the debuts. Food & Liquor is so fucking underrated, the lyrics flew right over people’s heads, sooo many substance and meanings between the lines, his lyricism is out of this world. Lupe has the skills of the true GOAT. Nas couldn’t do a track like this, Jay couldn’t do a track like Hurt Me Soul, Eminem couldn’t do a track like Just Might Be OK. Best and most versatile ever.
LUPE IS THE GOAT
i agree with ever word anonymous said
you think any rapper in the game can make a song like kick, push 2…..or a song like “the instrumental” and rap about an addiction to TV????!!!!???
lupe is the goat
.
STFU Anonymous, better than nas?? were u high when u said that????
Better than Em & Nas lyrically? Get the fuck out of here
I don’t wanna compare and contrast Lupe and Nas but don’t try and create some heirarchy between Lupe and Nas. They’re both talented in their own respects and far beyond most rappers. That’s not to say other rappers are less effective in raising awareness creating complex thoughts. Killer Mike is incredibly talented, socratic, and makes you think just as much as Nas and Lupe. Complexities do deserve respect but simplicities are overlooked. Andre 3000 may say some things that are simple but sociological aphoristic ish. When he was doing his thing, he’s kind of fell off… But Lupe and Nas and I’d say Killer Mike are all in it together for socially conscious collective Hip Hop Heads. Lets not try and create some kind of arrogant separation. I was insulted when I heard Nas being considered lesser than Lupe.
LMFAO you cannot compare Lupe to Nas, Jay-Z or Eminem thats like trying to compare Lupe to Tupac and Biggie
Better than Nas? No way in hell. Nas is Mr.Miyagi to Lupe. Nas is the greatest next to Biggie and Rakim. Jay-Z is garbage. Eminem sucks, bring Slim Shad back.
What exactly makes Nas better? I’d put Food & Liquor and The Cool over anything Nas has dropped, he only has Illmatic that reigns supreme. Lyrically and flow-wise, he’s worlds above Nas nowadays. Show me a Nas track that can even fuck with Lupe’s throwaways from a lyrical and conceptual standpoint.
Nas is the most overrated ever.
ummm. . .
umm. . .
This song is wild old. It was on the leaked version of F&Liqour.
just nasty
This is the old Lupe Fiasco. I know who he’ll be back on this shit once he’s done with Lasers and is ready to move on to Food & Liquor II

Stop it K rino >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lupe
his lyrics are on a different planet
He’s been grinding for a minute, but unlike canibus he don’t go around hating on
everyone.
Canibus doesnt hate anyone cornball every single time Canibus has gone at someone it has been in RESPONSE to them dissin him first
This 5th anniversary thing is such a disappointment… I already have all these songs.
5 stars for old school Lu though.
K rino is Crazy Slept on he’s the GOAT look closely he’s in Lupes hip hop saved my life video he fux with him they just make music but I dare one of you lupe stans to find a lupe song that tops k rino’s perpetual ascension I’ll wait……
K rino is a great lyricist but he excels in depth, he has like…..no musical presence his flow is lazy and his beats are horrible(imo) but if gets more shine and gets more creative he’ll be up there. Are you saying that he’s a better lyricist than lupe?
KRINO is hands down more creative than Lupe go listen to Identity Theft and The Sorcerors Den and Sorcerors Return
then go listen to Be Careful and tell me what Lupe Songs fuck with that or Perceptual Ascension, Perfect World etc
Lupe’s dope but Rino would eat him, your talking about a cat who straight up slaughtered Eminem in battle
breath of fresh air
1 star. This dude sucks ass.
Weezy is wayyyyyy better
Why do you still troll this website?
We all see through you dumbass.

This shit is mad old….. I remember this from high school days.
Old school Lu 🙂

DOPE ASS HELL! LUPE The KIllA!!
yo this is the Lupe I know of, He’s dope as hell, he never fall off, he just taking a break from his kingdom. AT LAST the king has returned to his throne
Real Talk, if yal already dont know? Lupe is on the G.O.A.T list, just look at his track resume from a classic album flawless Food & Liquour, and the greatest conceptual album of all time The COOL, nuff said. Dude is way ahead of the game real talk. he just that fucking good
EXACTLY!!! He’s waaaay ahead of his time. Dropping this crazy concept The Cool so shortly after Food & Liquor (the best album of the last decade)? What is this? How can a normal human come up with this? The concept of The Cool is sick beyond belief, but the execution was out of this world, other rappers get praised for a cool concept track this dude did something that can fuck with the best poetry of all time. GOAT!!!
is it fuck the best album of the last decade
Canibus Rip the Jacker
The Roots Game Theory are both better by alot
This is Lupe Fiasco Vintage.
top 5 rappers alive: 1. Lupe 2. Nas 3. Black Thought 4. Blu 5. Mos Def
lupe!!!! Song didnt say much
my top 5
1. Lupe
2. Andre 3000
3. Nas
4. Black Thought
5. Jay Electronica
Thats a pretty good list
ha atleast someone hear knows hip hop, im tired of all this retarded goons trolling -__-
Imo if dudes like krs one arent on ur list u might know it but u dont love hiphop. Dudes like krs one got 20+ albums prolly has made a 1/4 the money half ur list has made and done a helllll of alot more for hiphop then any of them dudes ever will. Lupe especially he tricked everyone played his fans for chumps..this re release is even more proof. Have all his fans do everything they could to get his record out and drop pop bullshit collect a check and bounce. Guranteed f+l2 will be like 2 years from now and be god awful(i think one is the most over blown album ever luckily my boy gave it to me to burn so i didnt pay for it) and hopefully his hype will fade. Whiny hipsters that are sons of rich dudes that were sons of rich dudes that were sons of rich dudes aint hiphop. Follow the money kids lupe aint never had to sweat a bill in his life.
Why do people make such stupid comments. Lupe is not the greatest of all time, nor is he lyrically better than Nas or Eminem. I could easily name 10 better rappers. Hes got talent but people need to jump off a dick and wake up. Ja Rule sold more off one album than Lupe has in all his put together
you naive mothafucka quit hating. you just cant accept the fact lupe is lyrically miles ahead of EM and on par or better then Nas..
Lupe song Failure > Eminem’s career thats a fact
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyLLmByA6Y0
come back at me when you understand what he says ughh #kanye shrug
ha Jay Z called Lupe as the best writer of our generation, thats preety much beating around the bush of calling him the greatest rapper alive. FACT.
name a rapper who can lyrically hang with Lupe?
@anonymouse
Your F*ckin Retarded Kid! Eminem>>>>>>>>Lupe, even Lupe admitted it. stop being Racist you Prick!!
sooo why dont you start naming rappers and stop talking about album sales?
ha EM aint got shit on Lupe Real Talk.. dude Em hasnt done shit since renegade he sucks. Lupe killing the Game Period, well not his last album lasers lol. but dont worry its atlantic records ft lupe more like that. But when Food & Liqour 2 comes out, game over.
Lupe will shit On EM lyrically any day look at his mixtapes, first 2 albums, and as far as im concern EM dont have any classic album under his belt, while Lupe has 2. now shut the fuck up you whiteboy stan
Lmao lyricists lupes no where even close to being equal to: em,nas, jay z,mos def, kweli,mf doom, all of kmd, pac, big L, meth, rae, ghost, redman, proof from d12,elzhi,luda,fabolous,jada, styles p,a dozen other wu members and affiliates i forgot to mention, percee p, xzibbit, that enough or want a dozen more? Like dude said hes got talent but god damn jump off his dick
^^^^ You sir are blatantly lying no way is xzibbit, jada, styles p, elzhi, luda, fab, proof, rae, meth, jay z and all those you mentioned are better than Lupe
only one who i think is slightly better than lupe is Nas and thats its, even that time will tell cuz lupe is really on par with nas lyricall but lacks music compares to Nas. but once again my John was right he is better than EM fo sure. im outty 3000.
check out lupe freestyle compared to jada freestyle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5SdW8-msO4 Lupe ate him alive nuff said
3K, Nas, Rakim, Em, , Mos Def, Elzhi, Canibus all better lyricists than Lupe
It’s mean, soldiers
Now let me put the streets down like steamrollers
With the CATS that push
40 oz. through the hood like King Cobras
See we sling soda
‘Cause the extra four in the split is mixed
It’s really 36
Used to buy toasters and clips
You can tighten your circle or boa constrict
While you was lighting your purple, I was over the scripts
See, I couldn’t walk the walk, couldn’t really talk the talk
Had to get my talk to properly explain my walk
‘Cause this lack in talk had my walk looking off
Now I’m over the limp
Watch how they mugs drop when they see my Verbal’s able
(That’s the Usual)
When I was po’ I was low
Now me and my Chaps cop Purple Label
It’s Ralph Lauren on the rap laureate
Niggas brown nose, they are like “after him”
Runners at Interscope are not as Stoute as him
Please don’t Interscope
It’s gonna be a whole lot of Iovine and respirating
If I lean out this window with Irene
Niggas as tall as Yao Ming
With L-U-P-Emperor
Is the foundation’s high beams and the antennas
It’s so serious every time I write my John Hancock like
Could damn near see Detroit ( I see you )
Niggas is scared of heights
This is saran wrap and aluminum foil
Some potpourri, a little machine oil
I stack my paper and throw off my 6
This is top floor, better look out before
Pennies from heaven is the same as the semi from the second
And I reign supreme
Turn your umbrellas upside down
Did you even catch the change in theme?
Lupe to the F to the I to the A to the S to the C to the O
from the west side of the C to the H to to the I – C – A to the G to the O
This is gangsta man
And them niggas ain’t Watts nor from his regime
Gangsta lean
Hats on tilt like these niggas ain’t drop out the vending machine
You gotta put more money in
And I shake niggas up every time I drop a bar
(2 for 1)
It’s horse in the Porsche and bricks in the box
Like mo’ money them every time I cop a car
You see I’m a roller, right
So it might be a Rover, right
But every time I drop a ‘r’
(Get off the streets)
It’s “over” aite
Bet I be in the head like overnight
Like rollers, right
She the chauffeur, right
So I keep her sober
She don’t get Fed Ex like overnight
I am Dolemite
All that gas can’t help you but solar might
Just call on sun
Drop a ‘s’
Pick up an ‘o’
Uno, put it all on “one”
Brace yourself like overbite
“For that quiet nigga that relocated down south
Coming back to floss”
Nigga get your molars right
Fix your grill
No plaque but a whole lot of cheese
This the drill
Mr. Chill
Gave me the green light like Yoda knife
So I’ma force my will
Like the Force I wield
Of course you will
Take my time
But weight behind only pertains
To that Porsche grill
It’s snakes in the hood
Gotta watch for that Cobra bite
Let me see
There’s snakes in the hood
A bird, a horse behind the grill
Something gator on the seat
And a fox behind the wheel
For achiever
My procedure’s
To proceed at all cost
With no breather
I’m all walk
Rain, snow, or fever
I’m all coughs coming after your teacher
I’m on the ball like FIFA
Viva
Lupe Duce
Long live the leader
I remember I ain’t have sneakers
It was welfare
Coming up for air is like
Whales there
Fila
But now I’m well here
I’m Shamu with twelve pair
And niggas wanna take me back to zero like tear fare
Well, my skill’s clear
You Sea World
It’s Braille here
I’m Bumpy Johnson I stick to the streets
Keep my dogs out in front of me
You see what I’m saying
And I push ki’s wonderfully – G.L.O.A.T (greatest lyricists of all time)
NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEST… FAGGOT
This is the lupe I know. This was a really dope joint. I can’t listen to know J.cole or drake. Nothing original or unique about them. I really truly think this dude is the illest rapper in the game and I felt that away ever since 06′.
Biggest over exaggeration ever. Hes good hes def no goat or even of right now..jada would eat him alive in a free, mos def? Kweli? Em? Kool g still droppin so is krs..u must of forgot whos still in the game because these are just a few dudes whod eat this whiny hipster.
that (Failure joint) everytime i listen to this song, it’s like i never heard it before…the metaphors are excellent, and there’s so many times where he stacks more than one or two meanings onto one line
the ending bars are probably one of my favorites:
“Well, my skill’s clear
You Sea World
It’s Braille here
I’m Bumpy Johnson I stick to the streets
Keep my dogs out in front of me
You see what I’m saying
And I push ki’s wonderfully”
just because of how it weaves together in such a complex way; he plays off of the word ‘clear’ AND uses ‘you, see world’ to refer back to his whale reference (Sea World), then goes on to play off of the vision theme and THEN ties in a double meaning for being blind by referring to things blind people do AND Bumpy Johnson (‘stick to the streets, keep my dogs out in front of me, you see what i’m saying). and that last line makes me think he was implicitly making a double meaning to Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder ‘ki’s (keys)’, anybody else agree with me on that?
Lupe is on a WHOLE other level than 95 percent of hip-hop and rap. Period
people don’t appreciate what this nigga be doing just because he’s not the most famous or hood rapper. I think its silly that alot of fans are saying the greatest of all time but top 5-10 dead or alive its a argument that favors lupe. LMAO at the dude who put the entire Failure lyrics up..but people foreal, anyone who don’t believe gotta read it then make an argument cus anyone who says lupe ain’t one of the elite is not backing themselves up go listen to failure, S.l.r, Fire, Lupe the Killa, first then check out the rest of his content..its all good, except the slight diversion with LASERS, and even that you cant say is bad its just really poppish and mainstream(but to place in my rotation)
Yeah that last line is a triple entendre for Ki (the energy they used to push from their hands in Dragonball-Z) as well as piano keys and kilos of coke. That tracks is filled with metaphors, hands down one of the greatest rap songs ever made.
This song never was memorable.
Anyway, it’d be better if he’d record new music with the same vibe, or include the real tracks that he intended for Lasers. Also, is 5 years even a reason to celebrate? I think this just to try to reach to his freshman fans.
Thats what I was thinkin, how the fuck an album get a 5 year anniversary re-issue
SMH, I guess anything to bleed a few more coins from his fans
its the label bleedin more money not lupe the decision isnt his to make about reissues you dumb fucks

now lets look at both of this careers
Lupe Vs Eminem
1. Lupe Food & Liquour = 5/5 hiphopdx rating, critically accalaimed album hailed as a classic album
2. Lupe’s The Cool = 4.5/5 hiphopdx rating, also critically accalaimed album, noted for the best concept album of all time
3. LASERS= 2.5/5 hiphopdx rating, major flopped album, atlantic records deserves most of the blame for that one.
Eminem’s Albums
1. Slim Shady LP = 4/5 dope album but not quite a classic album
2. Marshal Mathers = 4/5 Rolling Stone ratings still far from a classic album
3. Eminem Show = 4.5/5 hiphopdx rating near classic album
4. Encore = 4/5 Rolling Stone 6.5/10 pitchfork rating hmmm i think rollin stone been riding this mans cock for too long..but you know the deal
5. Relapse = 3.5/5 = his worst album to date
6. Recovery = 4/5 okay album at best
so hmm..it takes Lupe one try to hit it right and get a classic album and followed up with even impressive unique album this genre has ever witnessed, while Eminem into his 6 albums still that classic album has provide elusive for him but overall has a nice cattalog.
now lets look at skills on the mic
ha i let ya figure that out by looking over at that classic food & liquor album 😉 oh and yeah Lupe > Eminem
are you stupid? lupe is good but hes not fucking with eminem
the fact that everyone wants to compare someone to eminem says something about how good eminem is
Lupe hasn’t even shown he has the longevity eminem has. Get out of here with that. You’re just showing your a teenage nukid who hasn’t even been alive long enough to have an opinion about hip hop.
Kick and push your way the fuck out of this site.
^ to the last comment lmao…but yo on the real Lupe can fuck with Eminem. Yal “soo called hip hop fans” needs to listen to his content and come back and holla at me if lupe isnt nice as nas or nicer than eminem real talk
Uhm ive got f&l, the cool and lasers on my ipad..their isnt a damn song on a single album by him thats fucks with a single track from mmlp or sslp and this retard saying they not classics lmao cus he was like 4 when they dropped. The difference is em can drop a flop and its still better then lupe..ill take any em cd over any lupe cd ever..even relapse. Lupes already flopping does he even have a single platinum plaque? And now re releases his first album 5 years after? Thats sad as fuck. Whiny hipsters gtfo hiphop please.
Are you taking hiphopdxs opinion? Really? They rate albums how they feel like. If they get paid for promotion of the album then they will rate it higher than an album of the same quality that doesn’t have promotion on their website. This website is bullshit.
Eminem hasnt shown any longevity fuck outta here, he’s been puttin out albums 12 years come back when he’s done nearly 30 years of selling platinum albums like LL COOL J has…
Twice the MC like mc-squared (MC^2)
Trust, I make it relate
I got the poker-face and I’m hiding a flush
Still riding the beat
With a air that still smells like roses
from Andre 3000
My housing surroundings is what made me me
And that’s two times the G
You see how I doubled that the third time? nigga please!! nigga please!!! nigga please champ is here!!
Yea to bad his housing surroundings were chicagos nice ass suburbs..his dads a multi millionair= no fucking struggle, no word with depth so the omly kids that are gonna listen never had to pay a damn bill in thry life
in my honest opinion goes like this for best lyricists: 1. Rakim 2. Canibus 3. lupe 4. Mos Def 5. Nas 6. Eminem 7. Pharoahe Monch 8. GZA 9. Ras Kass 10. Redman
word agree dope list
Noww this jawn is dope. Should have made a joint like this for his last album
Are all yall jokin? This is dope. Music is subjective anyway. People still say Wayne the best alive. It’s pointless to argue
But subjectivity is relative to objectivity, the more an artist is objective, and often the more a person is objective, the more reason the more social and political awareness that person has. You can quantify talent. Putting lil Wayne in the same level as Lupe questions that relativity.
What the fuck does political awareness have to do with talent? To me thats lupes biggest problem hes a whiny hipster who acts like hes enlightened and knows shit about the government..callin obama a terrorist soo edgy! No its hilarious to hear the son of a millionaire fucking whine and bitch about his life.
man cmon i luv lupe hes great…amazing even but comparing him to em is just ridiculous… besides longevity… em is the guy who made:
stan, lose yourself, just dont give a fuck, still dont give a fuck, rock bottom, brain damage, marshall mathers, way i am, kim, criminal, who knew, sing for the moment, til i collapse, cleaning out my closet, mockingbird, like toy soldiers, how come, never enough, yellow brick road, mosh, spend some time, we as americans, love you more, beautiful, underground, deja vu, stay wide awake, careful wat u wish for, no love, not afraid, cinderella man, 25 to life, no apologies, GOIN THRU CHANGES, almost famous, etc… thats just off the top of my head
CMON NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
stop the hate, ems goat
are you fucking serious right now kid? all those songs you mentioned wont even add up to lupe songs Failure. nigga get off your high horses and listen instead of being one ignorant mothafucka. dueces shutting up trolls 1 time a day.
Nas > EM Rakim > EM Biggie > EM Big L > EM Lupe > EM Pac > EM who else am i missing? Big Pun > EM end of story. just cuz that white boy can rap dont mean shit or how many album he sells..he aint that great so stfup stan
There’s obviously some art that’s more valuable than others. Quantifying something ethereal, like love, or dignity or whatever? Is some taboo thing but people do do it. All the time. It’s like some unspoken thing to not admit to and Lupe Fiasco is just great enough to get away by that comparison.
Love the hate but clearly bullshit..only one on ur list who is without a debate better is rakim..big L would be close if he had more then 1 real album em pissed would fucking eat biggie alone and at least stand with pac…lupe has like 3 fucking albums out food liqour is insanely over rated and called flawless..ill take mmlp, sslp, either one of the d12 albums or a billion other albums. And i love how its ok for nas to be on every fuckers list but anyone who calls em great is a stan..no why not compare him to the people that have beat em in a track? Percee p? Jada?
Em, Lupe or Jigga for the crown. These 3 are untouchable.
lupe is cool
Lupe brought it back for sho.
we out did this cat on this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHTBTUr5YFw
This is one of those joints that when u first listen to it, you kinda brush it off like its aight, nothing special. But then it kinda gets stuck in your head so you listen to it a few more times. You start learning the lyrics and rapping along with it and as you do that it starts to make more and more sense and you start catching little similes and metaphors. And then one day it suddenly hits you…This is fucking dope!
You Aint Lyin’
Lupe is very talented and he can write beautifully but Im sorry but his flow is no where near as nice as Em’s. Em might not be dropping knowledge or sending a message through his songs most of the time like Lupe does but when it comes to just your skills on the mic and your flow he aint touching Em.
He aint touching NaS either but he is still really really good.
What do you mean by “flow?” Delivery? I don’t see where Em’s is so much better (Maybe if you were talking about Slim Shady, but not now). Old Em’s delivery was insane. Now its just………….boring. Lupe can rhyme circles around current Eminem IMO.
He ain’t touching Em when it comes to delivery, but nobody does. He ain’t touching Nas? That’s ridiculous, he’s waaaaay nicer than the Nas we have today, 10 times as beautiful and much complexer, way better wordplay, punchlines, double-entendres and rhymes. Besides that, Nas has one of the most average flows of all time.
Eminem does have the best flow in rap game period but flow can only go so far. Lupe is lyrically better than Eminem go listen to SLR by Lupe and break down what hes saying line for line. Eminem will always be the greatest rapper of all time and his legacy cant be touched but hes past his prime everybody knows when he use to go by the name slim shady he was in beast mode but people are so attached emotionally to there artist of rappers they wont admit the truth. Just like some people wont admit Lil wayne sucks ass now.
Right, Eminem will always be the king of flow.
Tech n9ne has better flow than eminem…
Tech N9ne flow bodies Eminems so does alot of others, Eminem sacrifices content for flow skilled LYRICISTS dont need to do that…
yall get bamboozled believin it dope when in actuality he isnt sayin a fuckin thing n his verses arent coherent
GOAT, most well-rounded rapper ever. Food & Liquor Part 2 will be way above everything this shitty genre has to offer. Like he said, he can go bar for bar with everyone and any person that is literate should admit this. He’s waaaay too nice for everybody lyrically.
Tech N9ne flow bodies Eminems so does alot of others, Eminem sacrifices content for flow skilled LYRICISTS dont need to do that
Hurt Me Soul >>>>>>>>>>>
My self portrait shows a man that the wealth tortured
Self-absorbed with his own self-forfeit
A shelf full of awards
Worshiping the war ships that set sail on my sea of life
When I see my own self I wonder if we still see a light
We was tight seeing lights
Speaking right and breathing life
Now I see my demons and barely even sleep at night
I don’t get high life keep me at a decent height
As the old me I predicted all my recent plights
Exhausted. Trying to fall asleep. Losses at my recent fights
Burdens on my shoulders now, burnin’ all my motives down
Inspiration drying up, motivation slowing down
Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album will silence all you fools, who talk bad about Lupe, one of the most talented and well-rounded rappers, this genre ever had. Food & Liquor = best album of the last decade!!!
wow…he is good rapper but seriously he isn’t that good. He is as good as fabolous but he doesn’t even touch any of the greats. He is actually overrated by his entire fanbase, he isn’t underrated…it’s just that nobody listens to him.
Oh look, a Lupe fiasco stan.
I’ve never seen one of these before
One of the dopest! FnF UP!
I love this debate homey… I’m Lupe Fiasco by heart son. Since the Fahrenheits…. I’m just happy that other people beyond me see that Lupe Fiasco is a contender for being the best. I think niggas is fooled. Eminem is nice. But he isn’t half the Eminem he used to be. Since he sobered up, his skills have fell off a lot. I think the reason why people don’t see how great Lupe is, is because they still don’t catch what he is doing. 90% of our “G.O.A.T”s are considered that because of their flow. Their cadence. How they string the words together. Jay used to be good for saying that shit. Look at Raekwon, Nas, Jay, Big, Pun, Eminem….all of these rappers are based soley on their flow. How they put the words together, rhyme scheme and all that. They say dope shit, don’t get me wrong but its all based on how the bring it. Eminem’s delivery and breathe control are second to none….but lyrically, Shady can’t even fuck with Royce no more. Don’t believe, Youtube the original Renegade. Lupe’s style is more about what he is saying. He took the ‘punchline’ to an entirely new level…NOBODY is fucking with him. Dude said that Fabolous would beat him in a battle. And I agree. Because the audience isn’t smart enough to catch or respect what Lupe would say. Check out his Rap City Booth freestyle. The game is so fucked up thats its not about skill no more. Its pop music now. Thats why Weezy’s Carter IV, which is the worst of the Carter series, sells a milli in a few weeks. He can say he’s the greatest rapper alive, and niggas beleive that shit cause they like his songs. Thats what the game has come to. Thats why Lupe don’t get the love he deserve. Look how long it took niggas to see Andre 3000 skills. Damn near 11 years lol. Maybe 20 years from now, niggas will see whats up.
I 2nd that!
I feeel thatttt bro
lupe is a beast but in a battle its true that fab would beat him.
Vakill is even.
all you cornballs talkinbout Eminem n the dudes not even in the TOP 25 of all time, Lupe is…
Might be the most ignorant comment I’ve seen in a while.
now explain exactly how that comment was ignorant…
its ok i’ll wait while you go look up the actual definition of “ignorant” first lil one
im a fan of lupe and eminem and its impossible for lupe to be higher then eminem after everything eminem has accomplished. especially after lupe did lasers, eminems worst albums were better then that dissapointment.
You butthurt fucktard, hating on everyone who had beef with your idol. Lose Yourself SHITS on all your favorite rappers discographies put together.
Lu Yourself is > Lose Yourself. And Im a die hard fan of Eminem.
Lupe!
Yo this track is stomping on “Tilted”
Eminem is overrated…Enjoy the lupe track.
Nas is the most overrated ever
your a dumbass!
here’s a few tracks that top lupe’s!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t6sTR1YJuI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtlZkiL8oIM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzNglU5ZUM0&feature=related
Nas is a narrator. Listen “Pussy Kills”, “Undying Love”, “Who Killed It?”. I love Lupe, I think he’s a great MC. But he can’t fuck with Nas. Not even close.
Uh….all of ILLMATIC? And may I refer you to Nas is Like before you say such idiotic shit…Nas word play, writting skills and FLOW are still above Lupe
Nas knows how to hop back between the objective and subjective, tell you a universal truth while telling you a story within it’s entirety. And his wordplay? He dumbs it down a lot of times just so people can keep up, especially when he’s featured with other artists. Look, I’ve been up on Nas and Lupe long ago. I think they’re both talented, to say the least. You can put both of them in the same book lyrically. But, ultimately, Nas knows how to narrate moral conundrums and he’s not afraid to be vulnerable either. I mean, I haven’t heard Lupe express himself emotionally where I thought, Damn, I feel you. But Lupe will say something that’s like, yup, he’s right. You know what I’m saying? Like, Lupe will help you understand something, put something in a different context with lyrical genius that’s like damn, but Nas will do that, AND instigate empathy. feeling. emotion. You have to listen to Nas enough to give him credit. I mean, even “Queens Get The Money” is so dense, so dense in word play that you guaranteed you’d have to listen to it a couple times to see what he’s actually saying. “Money is My Bitch?” An entire allegory on greed, power, anguish and demasculation. Very few in the Hip Hop game deseerve the credit and clout he has. We aren’t trying to say that Lupe isn’t the shit. We’re trying to say if you haven’t heard enough Nas, do yourself the great pleasure and get into him. He’s one of thee dopes emcees Hip Hop has ever spawned.
This track is classic Lu. How the hell is it only 3.8?
Why the fuck do you idiots have to compare rappers everytime? Eminem and Lupe aren’t even close in style, why even make that comparison. Let this fanboy bullshit shit die. Both artists are great. No need to go beyond that.
Holy shit! WHY AM I JUST HEARING ABOUT THIS SONG!!
The reason Lupe appeals to alot of these newcomers is because he offers insight to the ghetto with the heavy dense feeling that talking about the ghetto comes with. He’s a polished representative for the ghetto youth without the grimy feeling that comes from talking about the ghetto and to me? That’s not ghetto. Ghetto to me is a dense, low vibration of pain hurt and suffering and Lupe Fiasco presents it a tolerable objective way. Nas presents the ghetto in both a subjective and objective way. Forcing you to feel the pain and then retreating to a moment of clarity. Lupe just gives you clarity wrapped in crazy wordplay. But you can never be conveniently objective. If you can’t express vulnerability. Be subjective, off your own experience what you’ve gone through and tell people what you’ve learned? Then you won’t gain everybody’s respect. You can’t have all logic and no emotion. Nas gives you both. Lupe gives you logic. I like Lupe though, don’t get it twisted. He’s a great emcee and definitely on the same page when it comes to lyrical aptitude as Nas, but it can never be some, who’s is better. It has to be, why is he better? I still give this track, even though it’s old, four stars. Lupe did a track with Bun B that boosted his hood cred and best believe when you talk about the ghetto you bring your hood cred. ‘Swang on ‘Em’ it’s dope. But I will leave it at this, I’ve never heard an emotional track by Lupe that made me think, damn this dude is knows what I go through personally. Not something like, this guy knows what he’s saying. There’s a fine line between the two.
by far one of the most well put comments I’ve seen on a hip-hop forum/blogsite. Its 2011 if fans haven’t gotten the message artists send to avoid ignorance and start engaging in a more intelligent manner they need to get off the gucci garbage already.
Throughout the entire Farenheit series he talks about his label 1st and 15th being built on drug money and his involvement many times. So I don’t know where you get this from. He LIVED it, he rapped about it. What I don’t get is why you are going out on a limb to try to question Lupe’s “hood cred” and social standing. The mere fact that he stands alongside few MC’s in the game that actually rap FOR the people and you decide to put a microscope on his character just makes your argument retarded. 2/3’s of your comment had to do with the emotion his music evokes, as basically say you don’t get a genuine vibe from it. Nobody’s gonna disagree with you if you say Nas has more hood credibility and has better emotion on ghetto related topics(because he LIVES it). You speak as if 2/3 of the rating scales for rappers is about the emotion they portray. In that case sign up Lil Boosie for the best rapper roster. Now tackling the other 1/3rd of your comment. The only other level you compare the rappers is lyrically and you go on to say there on the same page. Nas is NOT on the same page as Lupe. Why? The man easily ties in triple entendres, complex rhyme patterns, and great subject matter in like 90% of his material. I’ll name some tracks, as you did’nt go so far into your argument to do so,:
