Cardi B has made a wild claim that sexual assault between people of the same sex can turn people gay.

Speaking on Instagram Live, Cardi offered her controversial thoughts on homosexuality after watching the Netflix drama-thriller Baby Reindeer.

“I watched this show Baby Reindeer on Netflix and I haven’t been able to finish watching it because around the fourth or fifth episode it kind of traumatized me a little bit and it freaked me out,” she said.

Cardi then described a scene from the show that depicts same-sex rape and added: “It’s so important for us to know certain male perspectives about these types of things because women go through a lot of sexual assault, but we don’t really get to hear or see what other men go through when they experience sexual assault.

“I believe there’s some men that are born gay. I have a cousin that I just knew since he was two years old he was gay. And there’s men that get sexually assaulted then they find out they are gay. People are always going to be judgmental, people are always going to not accept them. Sometimes people don’t even know their story or how they got there.”

She continued: “Not everybody is born gay. You see in that episode, the guy, he was straight. And he got raped and he started going through these emotions of identity. He started having crazy sex with women, he started having crazy sex with men. He just wanted to identify what he likes, all because he got sexually assaulted.”

Cardi B has previously been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ community. In 2022, she criticized homophobes by writing on X (then Twitter): “Every bad bitch have a gay best friend cousin…if you homophobic you just ugly.”

The Bronx native identifies as bisexual herself, which she reiterated following the backlash to her and Normani’s racy “Wild Side” video which was accused of “queerbaiting.”

“Also I’m married to a man but I have express soo much about my bisexuality and my experiences wit girls. All of a sudden ‘queer baiting’ is the new word & people use it to the ground!”
