As they hit the road for their “Welcome to Minessota” tour, Atmosphere released a video for their new single, “Bob Seger.” Atmosphere recently announced that their eight studio album, Southsiders was complete in December 2013 and should be expected early May. See what Atmosphere has to say about their latest music video and upcoming projects.
What was the inspiration behind the “Bob Seger” track?
I sit alone in my four-cornered room, staring at candles. The song is about death, just like every song that has ever been made by anyone.
Was there a reason you weren’t in the visuals for “Bob Seger?”
I can’t grow a beard. My facial hair is a mess. Real talk.
How’d you come up with the Paul Bunyan/Canadian Soldiers concept?
It’s been a story in my mind for a long time. I just could not accept the idea of a giant with a blue ox living in northern Minnesota. I had to amend this for the kids.
In a previous interview, you drafted up a mythical album with Alchemist called The Purified Waters of Lake Minnetonka, and joked that it would be on purple vinyl and purple MP3s, if given the chance would you work with Prince?
I’m not sure. Maybe?
Since the StepBrothers project dropped have you and Alchemist had time to hit the studio and work on a album?
We finished an album last year. It’s not a joke, dammit. We are waiting for the right time to release it.
You tweeted back in December that the new Atmosphere album was done. Any idea when it will be released?
