Bouncing from boutique to boutique, Curren$y finally delivers on Def Jam. It won't be mistaken as one of the year's best albums, but it is a solid debut from a 29 year-old that brilliantly connects with younger fans.

Listening to Curren$y is like hearing southern Hip Hop’s evolution. He possesses that southern drawl, lives the southern lifestyle, but lyrically has advanced beyond the stereotypes that once unfairly plagued the region. The man who got his start on Master P’s No Limit Records before another lengthy tenure on Young Money’s roster, brings forth his debut, Pilot Talk. It’s a project that came about despite the label changes, politics and other difficulties, and Curren$y doesn’t take his long-awaited opportunity for granted. Without the help of Lil Wayne or P, the man also known as Spitta has built his own buzz up with blogs and mixtapes, clear to a Def Jam-distributed debut. Now, carrying the Roc-A-Fella torch into a new decade, Pilot Talk will reveal if the hard work translates to a great album.

It must be said Curren$y has impeccable taste in creating his ensemble cast. The artist features contributions from, Mos Def, Jay Electronica, Snoop Dogg, Devin the Dude, Big K.R.I.T. and others. Though each emcee represents a different aspect of Hip Hop, Curren$y brings the artists together and weaves them throughout a rather cohesive effort. This is in part due to Ski Beatz handling the bulk of the production. He sets the album off with “Example,” a track that needs no guest spots. When he spits “I am an example / Of when you quit being afraid to gamble” is by no means complex, but it is a lyric that resonates with Hip Hop fans that lust for creativity.

The remainder of the album doesn’t exactly live up to the lyric, but the artist does well to avoid cliché topics while coming across genuine. A track like “Audio Dope 2” is a direct descendant of Eric B. & Rakim’s “Microphone Fiend,” where an emcee spits passionately about musical addiction. Though it most certainly won’t be confused for the legendary duo’s classic cut, it should be commended for its retro approach. The Devin the Dude influence is apparent as well. Curren$y never lets you forget that he likes to partake in Devin’s favorite pastime, but that substance isn’t the only substance that his music possesses. This balance makes Dame Dash's latest Rap protege artist marketable, and respected. He can sell “Chilled Coughphee” with Devin the Dude and still sound genuine on “The Day” .

True to form, Jay Electronica steals the show. He brings the best out of Curren$y and absolutely obliterates the verse. With a collection of bars that maybe the best display of lyricism this year Jay Electronica starts the verse with  “My mama told me always call a spade a spade / Be like Chuck D, never be like flavor Flav...” and then goes to detail the appeal of the hype man. It’s classic Hip Hop, only to be followed by “I pray this flow is dumb enough / I pray my heart is DMC and Reverend Run enough / 'Cause I’ma throw my number up / I’ma throw some chicken bones and feathers on a hundred bucks / And summon up the thunder what / The voodoo man is coming, bruh / You can’t see the forest for trees / It's okay, I got my jigsaw and my lumber truck / Tell them boys that their run is up.”  It’s a brave selection of a guest spot for an artist like Curren$y. The New Orleans connection aside, the addition of Jay Electronica to the project is something that Curren$y should be commended for. He sacrifices the inevitable comparison of verses and quality for the sake of art. Simply said, Pilot Talk is better because of the gamble Curren$y takes.

There are some mishaps throughout the project. An awful guest spot sees Snoop Dogg seemingly freestyling through his verse on “Seat Change.” Though he has a three or four bar moment of magic, the appeal quickly disappears. “King Kong” hears futuristic production that is plagued by an awful, smoked-stupid hook. “Roasted” sounds more like a mixtape cut rather than a track that should make an album distributed by Def Jam. The production is rather solid throughout with it seldom becoming great or average. The word fringe fits the project perfectly. A good portion of the album is on the fringe of being great or forgettable.

Curren$y's major label debut is hopefully a sign of good things to come from the artist. Bouncing from boutique to boutique, Curren$y finally delivers on Def Jam. It won’t be mistaken as one of the year’s best albums, but it is a solid debut from a 29 year-old that brilliantly connects with younger fans. An emcee with a well-balanced arsenal and who appears to be passionate about their craft is always a welcomed addition to the culture. Doubters can officially erase the “never had an official album released” or “mixtape rapper” slight from there vocabulary when describing Curren$y. Surrounded by experts who know music and the industry, Spitta's career is on the runway, and Pilot Talk is his way of preparing all parties involved that he isn’t afraid to take a gamble to be great.

    5/5! DX you crazy!

Don't like this review. I thought Roasted was a great track, probably my favorite on the album. Also, I may have skimmed by it, but how do you not mention Stalley on "Address"? That song was probably the highlight of the entire album, if not "The Day." Anyways, about 3/4 of the beat selection is downright sick, and the album is way more complete than you gave it credit for.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, this album is very underrated!!! That's all I am going to say...

  • ButteryNugget

First off, i would give this a 4, but im giving it a 5 in hopes of bumping the rating up to 4.20. Second, whoever is reviewing Curren$y's albums, PT 1 and 2, clearly has an idealistic view of what hip hop is supposed to be. Take C for what he is, a pot head who makes hip hop. It's not the most mind blowing shit out there, but then again it doesnt have to be. Its perfect the way it is. This shit goes in my ear like trees go in my lungs...nice and smooth. Curren$y is doing his thing. Very well i might at. He has a great ear for beats. I have been waiting for someone to make something as easy listening as PT 1 and 2 for a long time. The Jets Files is also the shit, along with FTARF. If you listen to his mixtapes you can tell how much he has matured as a lyricist. If he keeps putting out heat like this, and as often as this, he will drop a true classic within 2 years. Any big blazer should have Curren$y in their collection.

  • hiphopisback

fuck hiphopdx, this album is 4 stars minimum, and thats too low. i haven't out down this album since i copped it and im from ny.

  • kawalaj5

I smell East Coast Byass! I guess UGK & Outkast r da only artist from da south worthy of 5 x's. Currensy spits hot fire (no reference to chappelle show). Spitta nigga! JET Life!

gIVES YOU THAT FEEL THAT REAL HIPHOP IS BACK

  • bailey

(pressed the button before i was done) that being said the same could be said about the clipse's hell hath no fury ... doesn't make it any less of a classic it's very hard to make an album that's 45 minutes of straight "braggadocious" shit and be enjoyable from start to finish. do you take off points for the subject matter or is it judged by its enjoyment factor? album is dope but i'm going to start giving ski beats more credit ... even jay-z's classics wouldn't have been the same without him

  • bailey

he lucky he got ski beats...

  • Tez

only thing i really agree with is the Jay Electronica feature and the Snoop Dogg shit yall said. This album was 'Audio Dope' this shit was fire i love it. Its one of the only rap albums this year i can jus press play on Track 1 and play it all the way through. Ive done that atleast 13 times already.

  • SLYKAT

3 outta 5??? Really??? This review missed the mark...BIG TIME...This shit is sick...I can't stop listening 2 it

I disagree with the bulk of this review. This one of the best produced albums of the year (slightly in front of Jake One's efforts on "The Stimulus Package). The live instruments set this album off, this is MUSIC, the instrumentals are all on point and IN NO MANNER do they ever touch average, above average, or even "alright". You point out Jay Electronica's verse as the best in the album, while this may stand true his verse isn't the shining point in the album by a long shot. Curren$y's first 4 bars on the song "Roasted" are some of the most memorable and, as aforementioned, to production on the album is the shining point. The instrumentals on this album alone are a masterpiece. While Curren$y's lyrics may not be on Jay Electronica's par, you have to respect his originality and his silky smooth flow. Underneath that laid back flow he IS spitting very respectable lyrics, which is shown on his song "Breakfast". Pilot Talk is VERY EASILY among the best albums released this year. Curren$y's style meshes PERFECTLY with Ski Beatz's beats, and the album's content is above weed rap.

  • Don Papa

3/5?? damn bruh did you even listen to this? Yea snoops verse was garbage, but Curren$y still went in. And 'roasted' a mixtape track, what does that even mean?? some of the best lyrics i've ever heard have been on tapes. Its all good tho, someone else on this site gave ricky ross 4 stars.... Time to relax...maybe join devin the dude and curren$y and give it another listen!

  • swank

This album is dope. It has bangers and smooth tracks and shit to smoke to. A 90's sound w/ a 2010 approach. One of the best this year.

  • vargo05

I think this is a damn good album. I don't care for Snoop's contribution on Seat Change. It seems to me as though he puts down the same shit on every guest appearance he does. Address, Example, and Audio Dope stand out most to me, but the rest of the tracks are damn good too. Like others have said, it's a nice change and something original. This album is up there with How I Got Over and Distant Relatives for my favorites of the year. Debut of the year, in my opinion.

  • G'

"Your Idol and your rival, I be"-this alone...good god. And they added the echo effect on this line for a reason: ITS THAT LEGIT. That line alone warrents higher than a 3 star review for the album since its FOOL of jewels like this

  • G'

Sorry....this album is one of the best of the year for Rap. His weakess points is his hooks, but when you can go in like he does on his verse then why bother? This is 4.5. I dont get it....this review I really dont. Weakess track was "Hangover" but the album goes by quick and tight; true to its title. And the obvious Jay Elect. groupie love was too evident...his verse wasn't as amazing as we have heard from him. He got this whole Malice/Pusha T combined going on which I aint mad at. Ski came with the heat

  • babygirl00

    very good album smooth shit

  • ultrajay2

    suprised. nice. hiphopdx review. fail.

  • Therealrickross11

Tightest hip hop album out now Currensy is dope and knows how to pick beats

  • ghostonset

Damn whoever reviewed this is a dick, this album is a breathe of fresh air beats and lyrics are on point. Oh yeah and dude has this thing called creativity.

  • gwalk

we need spitta to sell ...hip hop fans need him to be big

  • Asparaghost

currensy bringing that retro 90s sound back..and I love it album of the year, i wish I could still smoke though but I'm disappointed in th elack of new unheard songs some of the features and "role model" and "Nothing but us" not being on the album..

  • ludabam24

Example - Great way to start off the album, The first song on the album is always a make it or break it for me and spitta delivered and so did Ski. Use spitta as an example 8/10 Audio Dope Pt. 2 - Crazy Beat Props to Ski. Really like Spittas flow on it but i still think he couldve went in a little harder than he did. Part 3 anytime soon? 8.5/10 King Kong - First single off the album not as if i wasnt already excited enough hearing about the album in the first place this really put the icing on the cake. Great Flow and Crazy Beat. King Kong aint got shit on spitta 9/10 Seat Change - Good Beat, Spitta comes with a nice flow, but Snoop really dissapointed me. I would really like to see more of these 2 doing work together though. She lost her seat but it made a pretty tight song 7.5/10 Breakfast - Love this song I have been listening to it for months. When the tracklist came out saying this would be a remix i thought mos was gonna come off the boards and spit a couple bars but instead ski beatz remixed the beat. I like it but in all do respect to ski he didnt need to do anything to the beat. Still great song though 8/10 Roasted - I heard the first version without Young Roddy on Trademarks Issue #2, gotta admit i didnt like the song at first but it grew on me. Trademark, Spitta, & Roddy all come with great verses and Trademark comes with a great hook. Probably my favorite song on the album 9.5/10 Skybourne - Really like K.R.I.T. on this track more than anything he sings the hook and brings an amazing verse, Spittas verse is solid and DZAs verse is pretty good too. The song will take u farther than far 9/10 The Hangover - The song i like least on the album, the beat is alright, Curren$y's verse is pretty good but Mikey Rocks came with a terrible verse with 2nd grade rhymes i thought. I really wouldve wished spitta wouldve got someone different for the track or spit another verse 6/10 The Day - Wow forget D-Wade, Chris Bosh, & Lebron James this is the real dynasty. The beat is insane, Spitta kills it and Jay murders it, Mos Def supplys the hook for the track. Really looking for more work out of the three of them 9.5/10 Prioritize - Going back to Outkast's classic Aquemini, Spitta & Nesby Phips pay homage to Big Boi. Spittas verse is iffy some bad lines and some crazy lines on his 2 verses, Nesby Phips provides the production on the beat and also throws in a couple of bars in the middle of the track. 8.5/10 Chilled Coughphee - Really feelin the beat on this song, Devin The Dudes verse is not that great but thats usually what i expect. Spitta's verse is great but the song is only 2:06 its way to short for a beat this good 7.5/10 Address - Amazing song really like the collaboration with Stalley, everything comes together perfectly with spitta and stalley both coming with perfect verses 10/10 Life Under The Scope - A little bit different than the original track that came out back in November and on Smokee Robinson, theres a little bit of difference in the production, which i actually think makes the track a little bit better. 9.5/10 Overall this is an A+ album in my mind, Great production and Great over the past couple of years Curren$y has become one of my favorite rappers. I'm really happy that Spitta is finnaly getting some of the respect he deserves, I expect big things out of him in the years to come for the 29 year old rapper. JETS FOOL

  • BALLS

DX, yall gave Rakaa's album a four, but this a three? This is way better than that, especially production-wise. AND the sound is ORIGINAL..

  • KidWorthy

I the only thing missin from the album is a few features. The Wiz joint & the joint with Fiend would've made the album a little better, but the album flows well. But in my opinion this is better than Teflon Don. Rick Ross just got some dope features & dope beats. Curren$y went with all Ski Beatz beats & people from his camp. Ross probably got the mainstream love, but Spitta made a classic without big features or mainstream singles.

  • Prettygirlbrown

Damn this is real hip hop yall , from a spitta foool bumpin album spark a blunt to this shit

  • Tdotfromdabronx

This album is sick cant lie I'm going to go out and cop my man Curren$y really put it down...

  • gwalk

prople want real hip hop, here it is.

  • Cinavenom

    It's dope as fuck

  • JackBurtonMe

I just tried to buy it at Everyday Music, and they said they didn't have it and neither did hardly anyone else in Portland, OR. I guess southern rap isn't the highest priority in the Northwest. I had to buy the Rick Ross cd instead. So far, it's pretty good.

    • jeremiah.britton

Yeah Jack, i'm out here for a design internship but i'm from Michigan. I was just asking coworkers today if they kno where i could get this album, but they didn't know who i was talkin about haha. i want a physical copy tho, not an itunes version. let me know if you find it out here.

  • Lightup

everbody should cop this album ...yu wont be dissapointed .

  • Rome Cee

i cant quite agree with the review. i must first start by saying that "king kong" is my favorite on the album(chorus, included). i just love the sounds. i can tell by the comparison of audio dope 2 to rakim's classic, that the writer is not in tune with whats goin on now. currensy brings a whole new element to the game. i feel people like nas(a legend) can be be more expected to make somethin like a microphone fiend(it aint hard to tell). currensy is not better than, but more of an abstract writer. every track was blaze but i must agree as far as snoop(what the fuck was he tryna to do?). hate or love this album, you gotta give it its propers.

    • G5

You are 100% on point with your observation. I'm an old school hip-hop head so I often fall victim to saying some of the older artist shit is dope over newer artist just because it's what I'm used to as being the original blueprint to a dope album. Over time I have learned to listen for quality within the music, originality, content and the ability to make it all come together at the end of the day. Curren$y did this to the T. This album is not only a classic but it's ground breaking as well. He is a phenomenal rapper with a style so unique that it can not be copied. His features are all perfect for the content and sound of each track not just big artist on a song to hype up the track listing. Hip-Hop DX is not doing the game a service on this at all and they need to re-evaluate the grading system that they use. For example, I bought Rick Ross's new album today and it's a solid offering but definitely not his best work. They rated it as a 4 and Curren$y as a 3. Really? I mean the Ross album is good but it's not in the same league with Pilot Talk. It is all common content, same old beats and big names. Which leads me to believe that they are giving grades to artist based on BS. It's sad but this is why it's hard for new fresh artist to get in the game because we continue to kill the soul of the genre and the creativity that is being given from a small percentage of the game. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

  • MARK FROM DETROIT

Just got it today with Teflon Don and Big Boi album its the best out of the 3

  • tallmanslim

album is dope. dx yall trippin.

  • mannyman55

The best album out right now , way better than Officer rickys Teflon don crap . Example Audio Dope King kong Address Prioritize Chilled Coughee fav cuts

  • Kay-G

I usually love Hip Hop DX reviews but I really don't agree with this one. You may not like what Curren$y raps about or can't get with his style and thats cool but you have to give him his props cause he is true to hip hop...he raps what he live and does it well!! He even has live instruments on his production which is even more Hip Hop. I cant believe Rick Ross shit get a 4 when he is rapping about a life that he just wrote up. Not Real. A big part of hip hop is keeping it real...thats how it started and got so much hate over because rappers were talking about real things and people are scared to live in reality. But people forget that aspect because of the mainstream. Its sad. Well I say its a classic. I'll enjoy it and appeciate real hip hop.

  • G.R.E.A.T. SCOTT

Why cant I gve it the xtra 1/2 star. 3.5 easily. Good work. Definitely a soner album. I nd to roll one and sit with it. Reminds me of a more lyrical and eveolved Quasimoto The Unseen. NO>Dude sounds nothing like Quas but it gives me the same feel without being as abstract. Well done. If you want more rare or non commercialized Hip Hop, click the link above. Dope shit is a guaruntee.

  • Adam-bomb

production very good, but flow doesnt quite do it for me....if i was still a stoner i would probably be all over this guy

  • SMITH FROM DETROIT

Didn't get the album yet, I will be getting it tomorrow with Rick Ross Teflon Don CD

  • digi

being put on to spitta about a year and a half ago i was supprised dude hasnt made more waves but he said in his music he stayed true to his self and did it his way and now his fruits of labor are being rewarded. i like the laid back sound and the flow is right on point for him, there are diffrent artists that have strengths and weaknesses and this is his strength. with so much bullshit out there this is fresh air to a hip hop fiend like me. i grew up with GREAT southern emcees, scarface outkast goodie mob ball and g,etc. even though im from the midwest (NAPTOWN) its good to see good south hip hop again and not the same sounding beats and gerber ass rhymes from below tha mason dixon. JETS FOOL.

  • Cultures Clothing Co.

I listened to the album...I'm just not a big fan of Curren$y. I dunno I just can't get into it. Like a lot of people love Joe Budden but I can't get into his stuff either. I don't think that Curren$y's terrible, but his flow just doesn't work for me and I haven't been that impressed with the lyrics. I suppose that it's pretty dope if you're comparing it to the rest of the garbage out there. Maybe listening to Bis, Chino, Technique, Ras Kass, Macklemore, etc on a regular basis has raised my standards too high to appreciate Curren$y's stuff. Maybe I'm a Hip-Hop snob, I dunno lol...because a lot of people seem to really be feeling him. Just not my cup of tea though. And I agree with the reviewer, Jay Electronica kinda murdered Curren$y on that track.

    • G'

Yea, I aint into the Joe Budden hype, but this dude Curren$y really delievered a great LP. He thought outside the box and just killed, once again, that shit bout how the south aint got no spitter. He kept it down south but still brought that vintage playastic shit

  • fwas89

ive been down with spitta forever but the newer shit aint like higher than 30,000 feet independence day tha classics. album is pretty good though...

  • fwas89

  • C-Arson

This album is at least 3.5- 4 If you smoke you'll probably enjoy it more. Curren$y releases a lot of free good music though.

  • MRTHEBOXTV@YOUTUBE

First of lemmme start off by saying JETS FOOL.... album is sick love the beats LOOOOVE the line ups whoever is hating doest really understand where hes coming from at all this review is wack

  • bswift77

Listened to a sample of the album. The beats don't fit the flow. He had really laid back beats on the album but he's spittin bout street stuff. Doesn't really fit...How can the reviewer not mention the fact that Mos Def produced "Breakfast" C'mon now. Hip Hop needs to know that.

  • BIG FACE ITALY

The guy who wrote the review must be depressed, what the fuck is going on here. Fucking great album , smooth beats and nice lyrics. I am chillin the fuck out on this album. What the fuck roasted fits right in.

  • Kay W

what disturbs the most nowadays is that people equally like this piece of garbage

  • fodadough

To be honest, Curren$y is his own brand of music. His production is on point and they way he flows on the beat is always dope. I love the features too

  • Donuts

4.5 for sure. It's not really about the lyrics here. Vibing out to this album is perfect. Only a couple skippable songs.

  • Ayre

I've been listening to both Curren$y and Rick Ross albums over the last few days, but I keep finding myself playing Pilot talk way more than Teflon. 4 out of 5.

  • i wake up to 'Breakfast'

this album goes! slick flow, slick production, slick features. everything smooth

  • Lightup

i love his beat selection ...it goes perfect with tha way he flows.

  • Gwalk

This album is really dope ...ill give it a 4.5, no 5 cuz it wasnt that many songs.

  • __________________

DX is hating, this album doesnt deserve 5 but atleast 4+ or something

  • John45/23

Pilot Talk is definetely a great album. King Kong is a track that grows on you after a few listens so to ultimately trash it is pretty lame in my opinion. The fact that you failed to mention the re-mastered version of Breakfast and Life Under The Scope is another reason why this review is not a favorite of mine. There were a few forgetful songs on the album, but the good definetely outweigh the bad by a loooong shot. And for an album debut? Pilot Talk receives a 5 out of 5 from me.

  • William Munnerlyn

Curren$y iz one of the best southern rapperz out, he's one of very few dat i actually listen to... JET$ FOO!

  • tone89

straight dope, great cd to light up and vibe to. that breakfast track is my shit.

  • yea yea

best album of the year so far.dont care what anyone says i have listened to this double the time of eminem and drakes cds combined.and this guy is hating on roasted that shit reminds me of some reasonable doubt.currensy is doing it how it should be done.you dont need shitty club producers with lil wayne, drake,t pain in your song

  • mrhax

So sick. Sick production, sick rhymes, Jay Elect kills it, Big KRIT kills it, everything just goes right, production is cohesive from track to track, Nesby Phips kills the production on Prioritize, which I'm surprised mr. Reviewer forgot to point out, and of course, Audio Dope is SICK. Not a 5 star album, more like 4 or 4.5, but the review score is too low, have to push it up, nahmean?

  • akim

currenc$y is dope,I love the *A day* what an amezing track ,Jay e killed it,but all of them Def,curren$y the flow tight too

  • KWAM1ZZL3

Give respect where its due. Pilot Talk is a good album. Too short in my opinion, but great album. Artistic, eclectic, poetic and still down to earth enough for the average listener. All praise to Ski Beats & Dame Dash for givin spitta a chance. 3stars doesnt do justice at all...peace

  • BONKEIRA

3 out of 5, wicked beats, that's about it

  • JOE6PACKNC336GBORO

very good damn album right here well worth the money love the beats which i thought i wouldnt but all them shits is hot. spitta spittin alot bout weed hell thats why i brought suite#420 for but the cd is hot only song i will skip is seat change just cause snoop is not saying shit. all the guest spots was hot luv the cd oh yeah if you listen to this damn revie you gone end up leaving a good album in the store review is way off i been stop buying shit off other peoples reviews curren$y and big boi is two rapppin ass niggaz what the game is missing

  • Rampzie

What kinda bullshit review is this? You forgot to mention Prioritize, Breakfast, Skybourne, Address, Life Under the Scope, they're all stand out tracks. The only tracks I didn't like were "The Hangover" and "Seat Change". I mean each to their own but if you're gonna give an album 3/5 at least do a better job of reviewing the product. Man this site sucks ass nowadays.

  • Guest

The album was good, you mentioned like 3 bad songs and forgot about the other songs. Especially his singles... Address, Breakfast, Life Under a Scope. You did mention King Kong, but that's one of those tracks that has to grow on you. Yes Jay was ill, but Breakfast was just as ill. That track alone tells you the man ain't playing. I wish he made a longer song like he did way back in the day...Reagan Era. I'd give at least a 3.5.

Just Enjoy This Shit one of the many highlights of hip-hop in 2010. my nigga put in 10 years work, shit paid off. now smoke 1

  • DontTRIP

n awful guest spot sees Snoop Dogg seemingly freestyling through his verse? T “King Kong” an awful, smoked-stupid hook? wow this review is whack. sdolid for all trax are good but its too damn short...only criticism dx has been slippin on their reviews for years now

  • THE REAL#1STAN

EMINEM RECOVERY> all these other bitch ass albums

  • Music Fannn

Gave it a 5 Just because i think it shoulda got a 4 soild Stars..... Most of the tracks are dope its just they were released to early , theres 1 song i dont care for Hangover.... Also this is wayyy doper than thank me later come on HHDX

  • I SHIT ON NIGGAZ AND BITCHEZ

  • BK's Finest

  • Major_It_Is

This deserved at least a 3.5 seriously it was good album & Curren$y can spit. I been jammin for bout three days nows

  • BK's Finest

    Good album... 3.5

  • Ali_

Pretty dopee.... 'Example' is DOPE AS FUCKK... :)

  • Vanillaface

Spitta always brings dat fire when it comes to rappin, but i feel like Ski Beatz let him down on the production side. But still solid album, can't wait for the next mixtape. JETS NIGGAAAAAAAA

    • Dale

Ski let him down? Brah, you've got to be kidding. These are some of the most finally constructed beats I've heard in a good min.

  • G5

I don't know what the fuck is wrong with the people who do your reviews on here but this shit was and is dope. You niggaz gave a lot of bullshit CD's a 3 this year and this shit is beyond, way beyond a 3.

  • BEINHONEST

YOU PEOPLE WHO THINK THIS ALBUM BY CURRENSY IS GOOD MAYBE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH YOUR EARS BECAUSE THIS ALBUM CALLED PILOT TALK IS KINDA BAD

  • dream254

solid...creative control / bluc roc movement is refreshing

  • deon918

im feelin it breakfast is dope as hell

  • C-Swagg

Spitta!!!! Ya'll hatin with the ratings though. Personally, I listen to this album straight through, no fast forward. Spitta got that mood music that u can blaze to or just ride to. My only problem was that some of the songs were too short. I wanted to hear Spitta a spit a lil more but overall solid album.

  • pienman

looking forward to getting the ablum.... i heard almost all the tracks due to the leak, but the dude is straight chill mode.... compareable to devin the dude... just with more lyrical arsenal

  • TELL THE WORLD MY NAME

THIS KID HAS POTENTIAL & THIS ALBUM IS COOL RIDER MUZIK/BLUNT RAP SHIT. THE PRODUCTION DEFINITELY OVERSHADOWS HIS BARS, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ENJOYABLE LISTEN. 3.5/5

  • M.P.

A 3? Naw, this is better than that. I wasn't even a fan of this dude, but after listening to his whole joint, I was impressed. His beat choices are pretty good too, even if he wasn't at least a decent rapper, the beats alone would give this 3.5 in my opinion. There's actually some creativity here that you [the reviewer] didn't even point out too...

  • Juicehhhhhhhh

    CD is straight AMAZING

  • Pabelow

go back to listening to Foreign Exchange

  • Divine1-2

I've been rockin out to Curren$y and CNN the entire week!! These 2 albums are my SHIT!! Divine, PEACE!

  • KnowledgeBorn34

The reviewer didn't say anything bad about the damn Cd so why only 3 stars! The production off the damn hook! Guest apperances aside from Snoop are on point! His lyrics are no worse than Drake or Wayne jibberish! So stop acting like The Source and rate this album correctly!

  • muzikCALI

SIR LUCIOUS LEFT FOOT.. That's the best so far this year..

  • PDizzle83

why is everyone comparing to Thank Me Later? RECOVERY was the best this year by far!! and this is better than Drake!

    • kidjeezy

Nasistheillest i cosign ur screen name......but ur fuckin stupid n emotional if u think recovery is da same as relapose ur probably to stupid to understand da content. u sound like a bitch complaining about someone dissin women n why shouldnt he talk about his trials n tribulations what is he supposed to talk about somebody elses life....gtfoh dumbass how i got over=album of the year

    • M.P.

      I totally agree with you!

    • nasistheillest

maybe the best mainstream album u fuckin twat... what about RPMs, distant relatives or how i got over.... the fuck's the matter with u "recovery the best this year" cuz what? cuz he had ONE non-hate song that got mad radio play and the rest is the same ol fuckin b/s about hating hoez and his own personal trials and tribulations.... fuck outta here when i heard not afraid i thought he was really gonna make a change in direction but its not its the same shit that was on relapse and the same type of content as all the previous albums... hip means to be up on something knowledge wise and hop is a movement therefore HIPHOP means knowledge movement its not meant to be there to sell brand names and diss women (on every song) but i digress.... lol.

  • BBALLSTAR23

Didn't like this album at first, but after a few listens it definitely grew on me. One of the better albums released this year for sure. It's got a bunch of great songs The Day Breakfast Address Audio Dope II Roasted Life Under The Scope King Kong The Hangover I basically named the whole album except for a few songs right there. Oh and for all the people comparing this to Drake's album, I'm a Drizzy fan, but Thank Me Later was definitely a disappointing debut.

  • Risk529

I think DX is off in the assessment of music, From "Seat Change" to "The Hangover" he hit the summer feel you would want with an blaze-themed album, matching great production with lyricism and delivery which just plain work. "King Kong" is the hard anthem he wanted and the underrated "Prioritize" is the reflection of "King Kong" for the 'lac. "Address" and "Life Under The Scope" close out the album nicely and provide a fitting backdrop to what would be the credits.
