Durham, NC

Fans attending the 2018 Art of Cool Festival were witnesses to an unexpected Little Brother reunion. Phonte, Rapper Big Pooh and 9th Wonder teamed up for a previously unannounced performance at the event on Saturday (September 29) in Durham, North Carolina.

9th Wonder was the only member of the group actually scheduled to perform at the event, but the trio shockingly announced plans for a set just hours before they hit the stage. At 8 p.m. local time, the acclaimed group performed together for the first time in many years.

“Much love and respect to @sulaimanmausi, @drcicy, and all the behind the scenes players who helped me and my brothers @rapperbigpooh and @9thwonder pull off tonight’s Chinese fire drill at @aocfest…lol,” Phonte wrote on Instagram. “I gotta say it was a good day.”

Although there has been demand for it, a Little Brother reunion has often been dismissed as unlikely by members of the trio. The group hasn’t released an album since 2010’s Leftback.

Phonte, Big Pooh and 9th haven’t publicly indicated if this is the beginning of much more or merely a special one-off collaboration.
