Where G-EAZY??? HHDX hating on a white rapper!! Shocker

The government wants the entire hip hop genre to flop. That's why artists keep getting their shit leaked and nothing gets done about piracy. So what if Drake outsells Common? Career longevity will outweigh how many hits you have. I doubt Drake will last 20 years like Common. You can only talk to and about women and money for so long.

    • Anonymous

cmon son drake can easily transition himself into film or television just like common has done, thats what he came from after all. drake is here to stay.

  • NEW ORLEANS BWOY

DAMN NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE COMMON DOING 50 NUMBERS AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

  • da1

Will common stay on Def Jam?

  • Sam Snead

They actually gave an album 2.5 out of 5 stars on here?? And that crap is out selling like every hip hop artist to come out in the last couple months? I blame bitches. "oh this music is so fun", blah. Why do you think Lil Wayne was like a the GOAT to people in the age range of 18-27? Bitches. Why do you think Drake is the biggest rapper in the game? Bitches.

  • Anonymous

is common on a major label or is he indie?

  • drake runs rap

hahahaha ahahahahaha hahhahah. How does it feel common fans that drake ended this bums carreer. I bet common bought those 24000 copies to make himself look more important because fact is he only has like 10 fans. Drake is the king of this rap shit and i will keep telling you the truth till it gets ingrated in your nimwit brains.

  • The B

Cormega got the best fuckin album this year, point blank.

  • MrNoluv

I'm an old ass nigga, remember the first rap song ever coming out back in the late 70's! But the strangest thing I ever seen in music my entire old ass life is Weird Al beating out everyone in sales! I didn't even realize this fool was still alive, I actually thought he was dead!!! And this fool has sold more in two weeks than 50 has in over a month? If you would have told me back in 2004 Weird Al would sell more than him, even if 50 was selling the shit out his trunk, I would have said you were smoking that good glue! Weird Al??? Damn and people don't think hip hop is dead. I don't care if it's 50, Em, Jay, if Weird Al outsells you, your done, just give it up. These niggas in hip hop today, suck. I think if Kool G Rap dropped his first shit now instead of back in 89, niggas wouldn't be able to handle it. Weird Al, damn I remember Eat It like in the 4th grade, what happened to hip hop?

    • Anonymous

Weird Al has been selling for 30 years. As a parody act, he can go with whatever is hot, be it genre or medium. That's why he can cover Nirvana in 1991 or Coolio in '95 and then have a Youtube rap hit in 2006, and so on.

    • Sam Snead

Urban music in general is dead. Look at the crap that passes as RnB now

    • The B

I feel you, but G Rap first joint camne out around 87

  • Anonymous

"He has a 20 year PLUS career! Drake has only been around for like 4 or 5 years now, AND he's a fucking pop singer! Why are you comparing Drake to Common? Fuckin ignorant homosexual" 5 years and he's done more than Common has in 20. You call Drake pop, so what is Common, elevator folk?

    • Anonymous

No, he hasn't. And just because it ain't made for the pop charts or the club doesn't mean it's boring.

  • Roger Rabbit

We just have to face it hip Hop is no longer the dominate Genre it once was, face it Music is only gonna get worse,I feel sorry for the next generation of music because they are gonna have some of the worst icons of all time

  • RIZZY

Funny how 50 Cent sold twice as much as Common did first week, and people say he flopped! 50 hasn't been doing shit musically in years, so for him to sell that much just shows he's still relevant! AND that was on an INDEPENDENT label!! FOH!

    • Anonymous

50 music is full of substance you just a hater im not gonna even name tracks real fans know

    • Anonymous

Common makes mature adult music, 50 is more cartoon music for trailer trash and wannabes, many people would rather support trash like 50 Cent because they think its "cool" to support music about crack and guns instead of substance. Look how the 50 fans are bragging about how he flopped a single every week with no respect for the few fans he has left.

macklemore is not releavant to my ears

    • Anonymous

"Macklemore sold over a million indie, " one time. never gonna be able to follow that up the hipster thrift store homo uncle gimmick is up

    • Anonymous

50 has the structure of an indie artist with only giving up 7%

    • Anonymous

Before you form the parade, Macklemore sold over a million indie, so 50's puny little 80-90K looks really weak.

    • Anonymous

and the fact that 50 dropped a single and a video a week the album was free and he still gonna do over 100k

    • Anonymous

and he not on the label as a recording artist

  • d-nucks

Its a different playing field and expectations with record sales....."flop" has no longer the same meaning. Nobody is really going platinum or gold only a chosen few. The most you can hope for is like 300,000 cds TOTAL....maybe 30,000 first week. 100,000 in the first week IS VERY GOOD in this climate. Shit aint the same no more....to many media outlets now...to much entertainment to choose from....peoples attention spans are very short. People spend more time on the internet, playing video games, then they do listening to music...Its going to get to the point that it won't even be worth putting out a whole album any more...just singles.....4-6 song EP'S at the most.

  • QB

cormega didn't even chart ya niggas be buying trash

  • Anonymous

Only Jay, Kanye, Eminem and Drake could put up multi-platinum sales in these streets. FACT!!!!

    • Anonymous

Yeezus went platinum 3 months ago

    • Darius

Yeezus didn't go platinum & Kanye's star power is decreasing. Ppl don't fuck with Kim K, his rants or the type of music he's putting out now. If his next album isn't a classic then it won't go platinum either. He's so damn angry nowadays that it seems to be fucking with his creativity...this is coming from an actual Ye fan.

the world no longer cares about rap

    • Anonymous

Change that to the US doesn't buy recorded MUSIC, period.

    • Anonymous

US* Rap on a worldwide scale is better than here. In Germany and UK whenever I've been to their hip-hop clubs it's much better hip-hop and they definitely respect lyrics more. I'm not throwing shade or anything it's just a fact. Future and Rich Homie Quan don't sell worldwide but some reason are popular in the US. Whereas some lyrical rappers make a living off international tours only

personally, I've never been a fan of Common, nor appreciated his music. I guess he is an alright actor though.

  • Anonymous

Iggy is dope. She's got mad lyrics, hit songs, and a big ass. She and Nicki are reviving female hiphop. They both lead hiphop and murders their competition.

    • SMH

Both of you sound like gossiping women.

    • Anonymous

Will you just shut the fuck up bitch?

    • Anonymous

No, they don't do charities or help others. Not every female celeb has surgery done, Beyonce is one of them (she's not shit, BTW). And who is Sharia?

    • Anonymous

What they do with their money defined them. They both do charity and help others. Also, which female celebrity did not have surgery? Maybe mickey but thats it. Beyonce, sharia both had ass surgeries as well (they are shit btw.

    • Anonymous

It's been confirmed that they had surgery and looking at their old pictures help, too. Also, I don't care if they make more money than me, they're still shit. Money doesn't make them better people.

    • Anonymous

How do you know they had surgery? Also, they make more money than you so stop bitching as they dont care about your ugly ass.

    • Anonymous

Let's not forget that Iggy also tries to sound black.

    • Anonymous

Nicki and Iggy are fake because of the plastic surgeries they had. And Miley's fake because she tries to act black. Nicki and Iggy are still sellout pop artists. Don't being Eminem into this because he's still a hip-hop artist.

    • Anonymous

How is iggy ass fake? How is Nickis fake? How is mileys fake? They seen sellouts if they intended to be pop stars. Thats eminem

    • Anonymous

So that makes them sellout pop stars. Also, their assets are fake.

    • Anonymous

They grew up in pop music. Its their inspiration. Its not selling out at all. Also they have big assets.

    • Anonymous

How ironic because you're the troll. Iggy sucks and is only getting attention because she's a white girl with a fake ass.

    • Anonymous

They both suck and make sellout pop shit. They're making hip-hop worse. All of the good female rappers now are underground.

    • Anonymous

0/10 Try harder troll. Facts are that iggy is dope and has a big ass.

    • Anonymous

None of that bullshit is true.

  • Anonymus

The plan to get rid of hip hop seems to be working, I hope these hip hop journalists have actual credentials to move on to other topics or genres.

  • Anonymous

Okay well if it was an ACTUAL fucking hip hop list we would see Common, 50 , maybe ab soul or eminem, not sure who else really no one else is selling records lol but just make an honest list, don't reach for artists from other genres who are doing numbers and put them on the list,

  • youngsta

damn, old ass common really flopped hard here. meanwhile, drake continues to make chart history. more #1 hits on R&B/rap charts than usher? who else can say that? not common. drake continues to win, common continues to lose. #viewsfromthe6

    • WOW

Hey faggot. Common has been rapping almost as long as Drake has been alive you retarded muthafucka!! So what does that say?? He has a 20 year PLUS career! Drake has only been around for like 4 or 5 years now, AND he's a fucking pop singer! Why are you comparing Drake to Common? Fuckin ignorant homosexual.

COMMON TIME FOR YOU TO GO BACK OUT SIDE MISS BADU'S WINDOW YOU SIMP DRAKE KILLED YOU

    • Bizzalls

It's too bad so many people are stupid like you, and lack "common sense." No, DUMMY. Common has been around since the early '90s, you fuckin NIMROD. Record sales has to do with HIT SINGLES. What hit single does Common even have out right now? He doesn't! Most muthafuckas probably don't even know his album dropped! Kanye put Common back on the map with all those bangers, those hit singles a few years ago. This has nothing to do with Drake you jackass. Stop replying to yourself, too.

      co-sign all day!

  • Sam Snead

People are just not buying records anymore, even pharrell who had the biggest hit of the year is not doing huge numbers. He is getting royalties and some people that just bought the one song but still not huge numbers. Between internet reviews, free downloads and free listens people hear it a time or 2 and decide not to buy. I will take the schoolboy q record for example when you bought it for $10-$15, what did you get out of it? 2 spins, maybe 3 or 4 if you were really committed to it. MMLP 2 is kind of the same thing, it won't be like any of his first few albums where years later you decide to listen to it once in awhile. People just don't want to waste money on the lazy approach of the music industry anymore.

    • sam snead

Eminem is one of the few outliers in music like jay-z or beyonce or rihanna. After relapse didn't have any big radio hits he decided to make himself as pop as possible.

    • Anonymous

Eminem still sold 2 million though. I bet there are plenty of people still listening to it, albeit with the windows up in their car.

It was never meant to be corporate. Back in the late 80's and 90's if you were alive you'll remember hip-hop/rap was a bad word. While there were the Master P's and Juvenile's there was also that political side of hip-hop with Public Enemy or even NWA. Either way the gangster hip-hop nor the conscious hip-hop was never meant to become the biggest genre in the US. When it did in the 2000's we didn't know what to do with it so it was killed by the obsession with money and materialistic items. Recession hit and nobody wanted to hear that bullshit yet rapper's forgot the roots and the struggle. The fans, artists, labels, radios etc all all to blame. We got the opportunity to bring hip-hop to a bigger scale and fucked it up by preaching greed and vanity. People don't wanna hear that shit. That's why Kendrick is so celebrated because it's so rare that someone with that mindset makes it. My 2 cents at least

    • Anonymous

Really flopped. They used to be huge.

    • Anonymous

      ^ % country

    • Anonymous

Hip-hop is not the dominant genre anymore either. Back in the 2000's hip-hop was everywhere including the radio. Those days are over. Look at the pop acts and alternative rock acts. Those are the popular genres now and they're moving units

    • Anonymous

real hip hop doesn't sell anymore dude
