50 Cent Says Big Sean Should Be Upset Over Kendrick Lamar's "Control" Verse

50 Cent calls Kendrick Lamar's "Control" verse "a breath of fresh air," says Big Sean and Jay Electronica's verses were forgotten.

Following the release of Big Sean’s “Control” and the bold Kendrick Lamar verse included on the song, a number of emotions circled the Hip Hop community thanks to the Compton rapper’s lyrical call to action on the record. But according to 50 Cent, there are only two artists who should be upset about Kendrick’s verse and they are fellow “Control” collaborators Big Sean and Jay Electronica.

While interviewing 50 Cent earlier in the week, HOT 97 personality Funkmaster Flex applauded Big Sean for not changing his verse on the song. 50 Cent didn’t quite echo the famed deejay’s sentiments and instead revealed that if he were Big Sean he would have changed his “Control” verse after hearing Kendrick’s.

“I would have did it. I would have changed it,” said 50 Cent. “It’s his record. It’s Big Sean’s record and nobody knows. Nobody’s talking about it. Everybody talking about Kendrick…All I think Flex is when the people that should really be upset should be Big Sean and Jay Electronica. Cause he’s saying what his intentions are and they done forgot your verses was on the joint. You know what I mean? Like he did it. He got it. That was the real hit.”

Prior to offering his thoughts on Big Sean and his “Control” verse, 50 Cent recalled the moment he was first informed of the song via Top Dawg Records founder Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith. He also went on to label Kendrick’s addition to the No I.D.-produced record as “a breath of fresh air.”

“Before I could get a chance to really listen to it I got the call. I got the call first and I spoke to Top. Me and him got a real good relationship. The guy who runs that whole company…When you listen to what he’s saying on the record, he’s saying—it’s a breath of fresh air for me because it’s saying there’s no more ‘kumbaya my Lord.’ Everybody’s not sitting by the campfire being friends,” the Before I Self Destruct rapper explained. “The competitive energy, that’s necessary for Hip Hop. That’s what it is. I think our culture—our culture’s competitive.”

Additionally, 50 Cent commented on his now cordial relationship with fellow rapper Nas and his less than cordial relationship with famed music executive Steve Stoute.

“We had a chance to kick it for a second and you know a lot of it, I think [it] cleared it up for him,” said 50 Cent while speaking on his relationship with Nas. “You know what I’m saying? I kinda put it together after the fact, what was happening. Because Stout was helping him make a lot of decisions, that’s why I don’t like Steve Stoute. I still don’t like him. He got these ways with him that’s like I guess it’s acceptable for business, but it’s not acceptable for people, like a person that you actually interact with. He’s the guy that’ll have you come to speak to him for confirmation that things are the way they are and then can’t find his way to answer the telephone. But then run his way to you as soon as the deal’s already taking place.”

no they dont. 50 doesnt even have one. they rent/charter them to pretend they own them. jay and luda own jets i dont know who else does.

Who cares about slot positions? Ross is on hundreds of songs. 50 releases half a dozen off his shelved album, they all flop, and all you're left with is touting I Get Money lol

"Buck was into the money, not working hard, too busy getting high and f*cking with broads" He still had time to release two albums, appear on both G Unit projects, and tour like crazy. If that's lazy, then I'd hate to see your definition for motivated.

nigga spent more than he made its pretty simple thats why hes bankrupt and in prison while 50 flys around the world on private jets gettin money

"but he has every right to make sure you uphold your end of the bargain once you read the company handbook and signed on the dotted line" Buck made this fool millions, and even after that, 50 wanted Buck to diss artists he was cool with. Show me where that paragraph is in the company handbook.

Not entirely true. Electronica's verse was by far the only real memorable verse on that cut. Any true fan of lyrics would agree. I bet when Kdot heard Jay's verse he was like damn I wish I could write shit like that. Lamar can flow faster and spit patterns and has good lyrics but JAY E is on another level. Like a mystic prophet who writes otherworldly ahead of his time real meaningful shit. Anybody who knows.... really really knows who's verse is more lyrical. K dot killed your favorite rappers on rigamortis on Section 80 anyway, way more than he killed em with this verse. Rappers diss and call out everyday this ain't a big deal. and 50 ain't all that.

  • 4real

50 will never be mentioned among the legends of this music. He had one good album that was more about the production and him being affiliated with Dre and Em at the time. He's never been a lyricist, he has no classic bars at all. Club hits, pop RnB records, and destroying Ja Rule's career is all he'll be remembered for.

    • Anonymous

-"damn homie/back in the day you was the man homie/f*ck happened to you" -wanksta, the word -"go shorty, it's ya birthday..." People, cornballs and hoodrats, use those words from those bars, making them classic. Even his enormous run of sales and bully rap style are already etched in HiP Hop history. Seriously, be real with yourself and cut it out. Just say you don't like him and move on.

"naw we all know how curtis treats punks and suckers" So Buck is a sucker for not wanting to be controlled like a puppet by bitch made Curtis? He's more respected than 50, and has more people pulling for him to make a comeback.

But 2Chainz worked his way out of a contract, paid it out too, working the same chitlin' circuit Buck had access to. Your boss isn't responsible for making sure you don't blow your paycheck on stupid sh*t or save, but he has every right to make sure you uphold your end of the bargain once you read the company handbook and signed on the dotted line. You should be honest with yourself and admit Buck was into the money, not working hard, too busy getting high and f*cking with broads, and he fell off, and you just don't like 50 Cent.

Jay-Z: 30 Million Albums Sold Worldwide 50 Cent: 40 Million Sold Worldwide Jay's not only got more money and power, but still going platinum every time out. Curtis went gold last time out, which while respectable, should be considered one of the seven deadly sins of hip hop. He's about as relevant as one of Beanie Sigel's parole hearings.

  • BIG GUWOP THA REALEST NIGGA

50 aint a real nigga like big guwop gucci mane. BIG GUWOP IS THE REALEST NIGGA IN RAP GUCCI MANE is the realest rapper and heres why. 1) all other rappers rap about being gangster shooting and killing but they havent done it. 2) Eminem raps about killing he hasnt. 3)Jay z raps in open letter about sending shots he hasnt. 4)Nas raps about how he is a queens thug but he wasn't. 5)Most of the rappers rap about stuff they havent done yet you all support them and say its real rap. 6)When rick ross does it you all claim he is fake and say its fake rap. This shows that hiphop fans are hypocritical and all these real hiphop fan wanna be's are just some unjustified haters whose opinions are just as irrelevent as the swag fag rapper fans. GUCCI MANE KILLED A MAN HE WAS A DRUG DEALER BEFORE RAPPER HE HAS STREET CREDENTIALS HE IS THE ONLY RAPPER THAT RAPS ABOUT FACTS THERE FORE BIG GUWOP IS THE REALEST RAPPER IN THE RAP GAME AND THATS A FACT!

  • MBTN

can never understand hiphop fans infatuation with rappers that are real and about that life who the fuck cares if he was really a thug or not? Ur not hangin out with him the real question is CAN HE RAP?? HOW IS HIS MUSIC?? U dont get a pass cuz your REALLY a criminal. Fuck that. I could careless about what you do in your personal time. I just want to get to some good music when I buy your album thats it. Only in hip hop do we say yea, his music sucks but hes REAL so I like him..

bs, that's what rap is about being authentic. Rap was for people who didn't have nothing telling you about their struggles. the rhyme scheme matters, but you need the authenticity for the delivery. it all goes together. Any nigga can just get up and write some shit, but the greats (even in other cultures) are the ones that live what they spoke about.

How 50 keep getting interviews for rap sites? He ain't spit a hot line since they invented 900 numbers. Do you even lift, bro?

  • A-Game

Agree with 50 on this one. No matter how many times Big Sean makes excuses by saying "He's too confident to rewrite his verses" and saying "rewriting verses is some hoe ass shit", the bottom line is that you still let another rapper take YOUR song, make it his song, and made people forget about you in the process. Doesn't matter how Sean tries to rationalize it, you still got bodied on your own track... boi.

    • Anonymous

To be realistic, rappers do this all the time, its like getting features from nas, jayz, kayne, eminem etc.. they do it to get more money because they think people will buy it if they have someone they know on it. Regardless if the idiot (big sean) got bodied on his own song, he has still made alot of money from it, which in the end is a good thing for him because i doubt he will have the longest rap career anyway so i would take every cent you can get and that goes for alot of other trash rappers too like meek mill, 2chainz and trinidad james, asap ferg etc... you wont know about them in 2 years.

albums are a marketing tool for tours and shows. The album's material generates hype, which in turn creates a demand for shows and concerts for that artist. The labels and distributors get the money for the album sales. Everybodys not sitting by the campfire being friends, the Before I Self Destruct rapper explained. The competitive energy, thats necessary for Hip Hop. Thats what it is. I think our cultureour cultures competitive. In a sense, yes, Kedrick's verse was more memorable because of it's purpose and how it reawakened the competition that's been missing in the rap game. HOWEVER, the verse in question is average at best. What is considered good in today's rap game(J.Cole, ASAP Rocky, Macklemore, etc) pales in comparison to the more lyrical rappers of yesteryear (Notorious BIG, Big L, Big Pun, Canibus, Nas).

LOL, you can always tell the weird 50Cent fans because they are the only ones still talking about platinum in 2013, LOLOL. Poor 50Cent and his failing rap career he hasn't released an album since 2009 and his pale fans will tell you that it did t go "platinum". One thing I respect about 50Cent is that he knows exactly who his fambase is so he drops songs with Skylar Grey on the hook to please them. 50Cents Boss Emenim should help him get his rap career on track so he can release the album that keeps getting pushed back......but oh yeah our Godfather Fiddy went platinum back in 1996 dude! HAHAHA!

Dr Dre doesent have to put out an album, he's executive produced all of Emenims albums so he is still relevant within the culture and still dropping labels on Aftermath. 50Cents rap career is on Ja Rule status and he didn't even make it to his 5th album....it's sad.
