Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 5/5/2013

R.A. The Rugged Man grabs his first Top 200 appearance in a 20-plus-year career. Rittz' "Life & Times Of Jonny Valiant" breaks through, and LL Cool J's 13th album "Authentic" shakes things up.

Three new releases entered the charts this week, and one album made a bold return to the Top 5.

LL Cool J's first album not sporting the Def Jam Records logo (and 13th overall) debuted this week. Authentic, released on the S-Bro Music Group label, features Trackmasters production, along with appearances from Snoop Lion, Chuck D, as well as Seal, Eddie Van Halen, and Earth, Wind & Fire. Selling approximately 14,000 units, this was LL's first studio album since 2008's Exit 13.

Patience is a virtue for Rittz and R.A. The Rugged Man. Both veteran emcees, one releasing a debut, the other a follow-up album, have paid industry dues. Both having Tech N9ne on their albums (The Life & Times Of Jonny Valiant and Legends Never Die, respectively), the independent emcees both tackled the Top 200 with star-studded, critically-touted LPs released in the last week.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis gained seven spots with The Heist. The independent release may cross the 700,000 threshold in the next week.

People Love Rittz In These Life & Times

Rittz' debut The Life & Times Of Jonny Valiant was among the biggest talking-points of the charts this week. The Yelawolf affiliate now signed with Strange Music debut sold 14,000 first-week units, just shy of LL Cool J's Authentic sales figures. The album features Big K.R.I.T., Tech N9ne, Yelawolf and the radio-embraced single, "Switch Lanes," which features Mike Posner.

The Atlanta, Georgia native garnered significant acclaim for his 2011 mixtape, White Jesus, after years of underground notoriety.

R.A. The Rugged Man Says Hopes Never Die

R.A. The Rugged Man is a 20-plus year veteran, and finally achieved his first Top 200 debut. In the early and late 1990s, respectively, the Long Island, New York native was signed to Jive and Priority Records. At both then-powerhouses, R.A. would record albums never to be released. April 30's Legends Never Die is the veteran's second official release, and his first in over eight years.

The album, which features Tech N9ne, Brother Ali, Vinnie Paz and many others, sold over 3,500 units for Nature Sounds Records, R.A.'s longtime home. The title track is a tribute to R.A.'s late father, while "Definition Of A Rap Flow" pays homage to '90s New York, as "Sam Peckinpah" honors the late The Getaway filmmaker of the same name.

I am grateful to hear someone else has these feelings. I do understand. God bless you.

"No one will remember Rick Ross or his work in 10 years" Maybe not, but at least his body of work will be more substantial than Macklemore's.

  • Anonymous

"15 but whos counting" 15... 17... Point is that wack rapper pushed some units.

  • Anonymous

"no i didnt say that all i said was they have already made history doing what no other artist has ever done in the 55 years of billboard charts" I'm not disputing the facts. He did it. I just question how much this feat really means. 10 years from now will people even remember Thrift Shop? Personally, I'd rather have a body of work that is still recognized today.

No one's scared. They're not replying because you're a retard who makes up lies for attention.

"i dont think he even sold 10" His first album did 17 million worldwide. This isn't top secret information.

"michaels first 2 singles never went #1" So you'd rather have your first two singles go platinum than have 13 #1's spread out? Thank God you aren't in the music industry.

2pac and Biggie, contrary to the feud, I have discovered back in 1996, 2 weeks before 2pac was murdered, I saw them kissing each other on the lips.

luckily that macklemore guy will dissapear soon.

"Macklemore's Production is wack" He is an independent artist. Pay attention.

  • tyrone

every1 who is into macklemore, has zero music taste. this isnt hiphop at all. just some very weak attempt trying to produce rap/hiphop songs but fataly fails at it. and lol productionwise... every 6year old at toys'r'us could produce smth better sounding with his plastic instruments, than this wacklemore guy

"Making the duo the first artists in the charts nearly 55 year history to have their first two singles take the top spot" You know how many people have scored multiple hit singles in the history of Billboard? I'm talking about a catalog of hits, not two dopey singles that will be karaoke fodder a year from now. Instead, I'd be more impressed if this Budweiser chugging rapper charted two #1 albums in the same year like DMX did long ago.

macklemore already making history ross aint doing anything that hasnt already been done hundreds of times

A couple weeks after going platinum, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis latest single Cant Hold Us has reached the #1 spot the Billboard Hot 100. Making the duo the first artists in the charts nearly 55 year history to have their first two singles take the top spot.

  • Trift

macklemore (lol what a name) trying so hard to be cool. and 80% in here think he rly is. poor guys, that guy is just full of hot air and he gets hyped now for average raping? cmon man, what happened to HIPHOP

  • salty

LL COOL J OWNS HIPHOP. wacklemore = new wave hipster, he should join will.i.am producing another boring album.

"He's trying to hard. Plus the production is subpar." Trying too hard at what? He's more of an honest artist than half of the rappers out now. The production is fine; at least it ain't the same trap beats that's all over radio.

    • ^

That's a joke, right? He already has another platinum single with Can't Hold Us. He's above Vanilla Ice; he's in his own lane. Mack's just getting started.

    • Anonymous

Seriously. Why are you co-signing this dude so much? Did you visit you at the hospital or something? Thrift Shop wanted to be funny, but it just sounds low budget. He's clearly not on Eminem's level, so all that's left is Vanilla Ice. He can have his 5 million selling single. After this year he's done for and you know it.

  • Anonymous

"hes already more successful than rick ross" This is like a broken record. Call me when Mackelmore is 6 albums deep. Has consistently gone gold each time out, and has sold at least 5-10 million albums worldwide. If he can do any of those things then Vanilla Ice Jr. will get a call from me congratulating him on his success.

Here at YMCMB, Wayne Rules the Charts. Wayne's Love Me single hit the top ten while My Life with eminem is a flop.

    • Anonymous

You're not an accountant anywhere. Billboard does not pay anyone to not reveal their stats; if that's true, that's called fraud. Rich As Fuck is not the number one song in the world, it's a flop.

    • dentaldamboy

Im an accountant at YMCMB and billboard paid us millions of dollars not to reveal true stats. Rich as Fuck is actually the no. 1 song of the world.

Rich As Fuck is not doing well on the charts. There's no 10 million unaccounted sales; all numbers count and they say the track is flopping.

    • dentaldamboy

Rich As Fuck is actually doing well on the charts. There are 10 million unaccounted sales for the track.

    • Anonymous

It's funny you say that because Wayne is pop and fake. Macklemore is hip-hop and real. Love Me isn't in the Top 20 anymore; Rick As Fuck still flopped.

    • dentaldamboy

Lil Wayne did chart at no. 9 with love me. My life that was led by 50 cent but featured Eminem prominently, just went to 28 for one week before plunging. As for Macklemore, he's pop and fake so that doesn't count.

LL does it right, he came up with features that are legends. not just hot names, which are currently on top of the charts. i bet his album gets hated cause he rapped on accidential racist, which _isnt_ even on authentic(his album) lol. as some1 stated already, accidential racist is a brad paisley song, not LL COOL Js.

  • jayson

lol so many guys think that accidential racist is fully written by LL Cool J. it is NOT, its written by Brad Paisly who sings 90% of it and its his song on HIS album. LL Cool J has written his verse for it, thats true, but it doesnt appear on Authentic (theres a complete different song with Brad Paisley on it). and its still A SONG, nothing being afraid of. what can i say, LL Cool Js new album has maybe ~3 weak (pop) songs, just like any other album of wayne has such songs. but he sounds so fresh and the production is classic (finally!!), he brought some real hiphop back with a versatile album. the target bonus edition of authentic rocks with 4 more songs in addition

Wayne's going to be remembered as the next 2pac. How can you not award him that right? Look how much he has done for hip hop. Hip Hop album says have been on slow decline, yet Wayne has been the small breath of air keeping it alive and bringing in money by bringing in ATTENTION. Attention is what keeps music or anything else alive. He branches out and does other things than music. He features on other artists of different genres albums. 2Pac would be proud of Wayne if he were still alive and I even believe he would agree to sign to Young Money records and help Wayne build even bigger empire. If Wayne were to die, he WOULD become the same vessel of icon as Pac was and still is to this day. Look how many people bite Waynes style same as they did pac(Nas, Ja Rule, DMX). Yall know its true but are just to afraid to admit it.

  • Eye Control

damn yall some hatin ass dudes man. Weezy been killin the game since his cash money days. Look how much he's done for hip hop and all yall do is hate. He's given us classics, and I agree his recent stuff doesn't top Carter 1 and 2, but you can't deny he's top 5 right now(top 3 actually). So many other wack rappers and yall choose to hate on Weezy. I bet yall them lame ass "real hip hop" fans who only bump Common(who sucks) and fuckin Mos Def. Them old ass fools don't even sell units, plus Wayne is lyrically shitting on them. Carter 2 still the best rap album of 2000 era. Fuck anyone who says any different(and Carter III is shitting on the majority of whats coming out today, including yall lame ass opinions)

  • Ricky Rozay

Hip Hop started in the streets and it will forever be in the streets, the fact of the matter is. Nobody in the streets is listening to Macklemore, only kids from the burbs. i don't care how lyrical he is, it's fuckin wack in the streets. Only people in the urban community (not suburban ) should have say to what is dope hip hop and what isn't, this is NOTHING special. Kids from the suburbs tend to think just because a rapper is "lyrical" that makes them great! 2Pac , Too Short, Eazy E, and many many others weren't the most complex rappers but they are more legends, why? Because they kept it street. These underground, and lyrical cats can rhyme as many words out of the dictionary that they want and it is still wack in the streets why? Wack subject matter, wack hooks, wack beats, nobody wants to listen to any of that. People wake up, street hip hop (biggie, 2pac, big l , meek, jeezy ) any rapper that reps the streets, YES even Gucci will have more respect than these lyrical cats, because hip hop IS the streets, and if the streets aren't feelin it, than it doesn't matter how versatile you are, wack is wack no matter what! Bawse!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Nuts

I kinda feel what you saying but why should an artist have to be "street" to be respected by the streets? There's plenty of good artist who come from or grew up in an urban environment but aren't necessarily "street" or live that type of lifestyle hence the Kendrick Lamars JColes Big Seans Lupe Fiasco just to name a few. Why not just respect the art and the way the music is being presented opposed to street cred cuz at the end of the day most of these so called "street" rappers are either wack, have a limited fan base or not destined to ever sell that much so why even go that route if all you get is a bunch of fickle fans overhyping your talent just cuz you come from the street! I say be as creative as you can be and fuck whoever don't like it or understand it....ART OVER IMAGE..CRAFT OVER CREDIBILITY

    • Anonymous

  • Marx1684

Never thought I'd see the day Lil Wayne would be behind the name Macklemore. Good for Mack. Kid Cudi's album is being slept on. LL went too far left w/his single. Spit that smooth music for your core audience. The ladies still got love for James. The country vibe just isn't cool. Will.....sounds just like a BEP record. People remember the name though. You'll get your checks & your spins but those numbers won't rise w/o your folk. I'd split a few million 4 ways before deciding to keep a couple hundred thousand (if that) to myself.

    • sdad

which single do u mean by LL COOL J? he releases "we're the greatest" with eddie van halen, ive heard.... accidential racist is a brad paisleys single.

  • Dentaldamboy

You YMCMB haters are fucking idiots. Because I'm an accountant for Cash Money Records, I spend a lot of time with Birdman. He told me that in 96, Biggie was looking to get out of his contract with Bad Boy so he could sign with Cash Money. If Cash Money is right for Biggie, then it's clearly the top record label. Unfortunately, Jay-Z and Diddy found out about Biggie's upcoming departure and had him shot. Also, Birdman as always a role model for Pac. Most of you don't know this, but the song Hit Em Up was originally supposed to be Split Em Up, a song where Pac brags about fucking Faith, leading to her breakup with BIG. But Birdman explained to Pac that real gangsta's talking about killing people, so that's how Hit Em Up took on such a violent tone. YMCMB for life. We got the game by the clit.

    • Anonymous

^ That's a joke, right? 2Pac and Biggie were original. YMCMB never existed when they were alive.

Pac and BIG would never go to an unknown label. You're not a damn accountant and you never met them. Stop making shit up and stop making up conspiracy theories.

    • dentaldamboy

It's true. Most of you don't realize but as one of the accountants at Cash Money (before it was called YMCMB), 2pac and Biggie were both planning to sign to cash money records. I remember that one time I saw them together, they showed me photos of Suge Knight and Dr Dre kissing each on the mouth along with Jay Z and Puff Daddy. That's why both of them were shot because they were pissed.

to all guys here... macklemore is just horrible with his cawing voice and mainstream "party" shit. quite sad what happened to hiphop if u have to listen to such flat minded shit. regarding drake/lil wayne - iam so tired of their "music". just too mediocre and nothing special, lazy beats and production. either totally boring or like "yo LETS BUMP UP ALL THE BASS WE GOT, NOBODY NEEDS THE REST OF A SONG ANYWAY". its just lame if every song gets trimmed soo hard for a radio friendly release, they all sound the same.. that made me stop listening to hiphop for like 2-4years now (switched to dubstep :D) snoop dogg and LL did it much better with their albums. and ye LL's sounds a bit pop'ish (did already in the 80s), but the beats and production is just straight in ur face & makes fun listen to it. same goes for his vocals/rhymes, finally some real rap is back.

    • gg

yea ive heard that song, which is a brad paisley song (on his album only) . llcj has only one verse on it. the topic in that song is a serious one with clear expression, that's the way how music should work. most ppl couldnt deal with that, understandable if ure used to meaningless stuff/lyrics

    • Anonymous

so because of the two singles you assume macklemore makes nothing but party music and is ruining hip hop? have you heard the ll cool j song with that country singer?

  • Hip Hop Fan

Two things, Macklemore is really showing all these slaves signed to major labels how to do this independent and its impressive how his sales are going up each week. Second thing is who is this accountant for YMCMB and why does he have so much free time to be posting on this site. Accountants, especially ones that work for a record label would be too damn busy to be wasting time posting on here. SMH, too many lies

    • Anonymous

YMCMB has a long history of not paying their artists, producers or clearing samples so it makes sense that their accountant would have fuck all to do but post on the internet dickriding lil wayne all day

I don't get with most of these ymcmb artists staying at ymcmb even though their albums aren't getting released. If an artist on another label feels underpromoted like Bobby Creekwater of Shady records or Cudi of GOOD music, they leave the label and strike it out on their own. Are these ymcmb really that idiotic?

I am sorry to say but when Em first came out he was so trash and was the biggest wigger I had ever seen. Sometimes he looked so fake and corny. At least these new dudes don't have to go through the struggle or trying to be accepted. They are paving new lanes and building on what Em started. They are doing it by themselves too which is real huge on their parts.

Call me when Mackelmore does any one of the following: Shopping for a $75 million dollar deal, has his own reality show, consistently drops albums that go gold or higher, or sells a million in a week.

    • Anonymous

macklemore been out since october and still selling 30k a week he going platinum way before waynes album

    • ^

No, it won't. It'll go gold at the most and no go any higher.

    • Kno Boddy

Wayne going platinum. It might not be until the end of the year but it will happen. Just like Kendrick, his album has been out for a minute but will creep up to platinum status.

  • dentaldamboy

I auto fellatio to pictures of drake

  • dentaldamboy

As an accountant for Cash Money, I kissed Lil Wayne in the lips

  • YEBO

YES, IANAHB 2 (AND PART ONE) WERE STUDIO ALBUMS. BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT NONE OF THEM HAD PROMOTION LEVEL AS CARTERS DID. PART ONE WAS RELEASED IN THE SAME YEAR AS THE REBIRTH AND YOUNG MONEY COMPILATION WAS RELEASED LESS THAN YEAR BEFORE IANAHB. BESIDES THAT, LIL WAYNE WAS IN JAIN AT THE TIME WHEN FIRST ONE WENT OUT AND STILL SOLD 110K IN THE FIRST WEEK AND 125 IN THE THIRD WEEK. JUST GOOGLE IT, FOR EXAMPLE ON UKMIX IT IS STATED THAT IT HAS SOLD OVER 1,031,000 COPIES TO DATE. AND REBIRTH SOLD OVER 820K, WE ARE YOUNG MONEY WENT GOLD... HOW MANY RAPPERS CAN DO THAT? BEING IN JAIL FOR MOST OF THE YEAR AND STILL BE ABLE TO DELIVER THREE SUCCESSFUL SIDE PROJECTS? LIL WAYNE WAS THE FIRST RAPPER SINCE TUPAC TO HAVE NUMBER ONE ALBUM FROM JAIL. HOW IS POSSIBLE THAT WAYNE'S ROCK ALBUM SOLD MORE THAN MOST OF "REAL" ROCK ARTISTS AT THAT TIME? LIL WAYNE IS THE BEST RAPPER NOWADAYS.

    • Nuggets

I'm about 80% sure these proper grammar using ma'fuckers are the same person, arguing with themselves.

    • ^

Where did you get that number from, your ass? It did not sell that much.

    • Kno Boddy

@OBEY INAHB1 had 953,000 sold as of September 2011 so it's possible that it could have gone platinum by now. Albums sale even when they are really old. Just recently both Usher's Confessions and Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP reached Diamond status.

    • John

lol at that nigga obey, he's even more embrassing than YEBO

    • OBEY

MORE BULLSHIT LIES. INAHB1 WAS PUSHED AS AN OFFICIAL STUDIO ALBUM. IT DID NOT SELL 1 MILLION COPIES EVER; THAT SOURCE LIED TO YOU. MANY RAPPERS HAVE DONE WHAT WAYNE HAS DONE, BUT MORE SUCCESSFULLY. A LOT OF REAL ROCK ALBUMS ACTUALLY OUTSOLD REBIRTH. WAYNE'S NOT THE BEST RAPPER ALIVE; HE'S THE WORST. THE TITLE OF BEST RAPPER ALIVE IS A TIE BETWEEN EMINEM, JAY-Z, KANYE WEST, AND NAS.

And once again Hip Hop fans show how much they really support their own culture... And yes I'm talking about minorities! Don't get mad when the labels strictly market to the white kids that buy albums. SMFH! Hip Hop is dead because of the bum ass fans always stealing!

    • Anonymous

Your name is Fish and you're calling me a faggot! LMAO... That just means your white trailor trash that probably steals money out of his mothers purse if you need to steal an album that only costs $10. Crumb Bum Ass Cracker!

  • iamhiphop

Kendrick and Macklemore are slaying these niggas' album sales.

  • jstizz

who you think will go platinum first, makelmore or kendrick?

    • Anonymous

kendrick should be certified platinum very soon for shipping 1 million units, but if macklemore keeps moving 30k+ a week it could be close.

  • Anonymous

"has macklemore ever kissed a man on the lips or worse leopard print jeggings?" He was a raging alcoholic, so who knows.

    • Anonymous

What the fuck are you talking about? And who the fuck is PJ Morton and what does he have to do with those Maroon 5 songs?

    • dentaldamboy

Their albums have sold well with each album going platinum. Some of these have unaccounted sales but they are platinum as well. Friends stick together till the end. Oh and by the way, pj morton had no. 1 hits with moves like jagger and one more night.

    • TROLLIN ON THESE TROLLS

AND YOU KNOW HE'S AN ALCOHOLIC HOW?..

    • Anonymous

where do you get the raging from? lil wayne is a junkie. everybody drinks. not everybody drinks syrup everyday to the point of seizuring

    • Anonymous

      No, he's not.

  • dentaldamboy

Snoop and LL Cool J are flopping. Wayne is outselling them both. They should go to YMCMB where they get the majority of profits, ladies, and have experienced men like Wayne.

    • dentaldamboy

Why don't any of you believe me?

    • Anonymous

      No, he's isn't.

    • dentaldamboy

      Birdman is Wayne's biological father.

    • Anonymous

if you're a child you are allowed to kiss your BIOLOGICAL BIRTH FATHER if you're in you're twenties or your teens it is gay as fuck to be kissin on another mans lips when he aint really your father

    • dentaldamboy

It's not gay behavior. By thw ay, Rich Gang rules.

    • Anonymous

Keep making up fantasy stories. THroughout my life, I've never seen fathers and sons kissing ever.

    • dentaldamboy

I did see kids kiss their fathers. Hell, you even praise frank ocean and he's more gay than wayne.

    • Riley Freeman

      Nigga, you gay.

    • @dentaldamboy

More lies. Stop making shit up. That's gay.

    • dentaldamboy

I did see fathers and sons kiss on the lips and gave tongue when I was a kid. Elementary school to high school, I've seen kisses.

    • @dentaldamboy

      Lies. You're making shit up.

    • WOW!

This was the official BEST TROLL MOVE of 2013, congratulations for baiting the hell out of this asshole, LMFAO!

    • dentaldamboy

I've seen kids and fathers kiss each other on the lips when I was at elementary school and middle school and high school.

    • Anonymous

Yes, Dr. Dre is lazy on Detox. Many YMCMB are lazy shits who can't even release an album. Also, Wayne kissing Birdman is not father/son time; it's gay time.

    • Anonymous

EVERYONE STOP FEEDING THE FUCKING TROLLS

    • dentaldamboy

If they were lazy that means Dr Dre is lazy. They are hardworking individuals wanting to perfect their albums. Also, wayne kissing birdman is father son time.

    • Anonymous

They're being lazy. Their shit should've been released by now. Birdman always wants money and he's getting a lot of it.

    • dentaldamboy

It's because most of them are still working on their debut album to make sure they want their to be perfect. If Birdman wants money, they would release the albums.

    • Anonymous

More bullshit you pulled out your ass. YMCMB don't treat their artists fairly. Most of the profits go to Birdman and Slim, none of these artists that aren't named Wayne, Drake, or Nicki goes gold.

    • dentaldamboy

At YMCMB we treat our artists fairly. We pay them most of the profits and they go at least gold. Tune in to Rap fix it live where we will share with you release dates for our projects.

    • Anonymous

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. You're not an accountant, you're a troll. PJ Morton's album will not sell and he won't get most of the profits; Birdman will be doing that.

    • dentaldamboy

I am an accountant and also have a job commenting here. PJ Morton's album will sell and he will get most of the profits.

    • Anonymous

Still doesn't mean his album will sell. There's no unaccounted sales and you're not an accountant, just a troll on the internet.

    • dentaldamboy

He's the keyboardist of Maroon 5. He is important to Maroon 5's success. Also, his album will feature Adam Levine in addition to Wayne and Busta Rhymes. I know there are unaccounted sales because i work as an accountant for ymcmb.

    • Anonymous

Dumbass. None of their albums sold well or have gone platinum. There's no unaccounted sales; ALL sales are counted and the numbers say they aren't platinum. Also, those are Maroon 5 songs, what the fuck does this has to so with PJ Morton?

    • dentaldamboy

Their albums have sold well with each album going platinum. Some of these have unaccounted sales but they are platinum as well. Friends stick together till the end. Oh and by the way, pj morton had no. 1 hits with moves like jagger and one more night along with the smash hit payphone.

    • Anonymous

Make up all the lies you want. It doesn't change the fact that YMCM artists that aren't Wayne, Drake, and Nicki can't sell shit. Birdman, Tyga, and DJ Khaled all flopped with their albums and the reason they haven't been dropped is because Birdman runs the label and everyone there are buddies. Also, nobody's looking foward to PJ Morton's album; no one's even heard of that nigga, meaning that he won't sell, either.

    • dentaldamboy

Funny how you mentioned how the other artists supposedly flopped. Birdman, Tyga, and DJ Khaled has released more than one album. If they were to flop, they would be dropped from YMCMB. At YMCMB, if we seriously thought they wouldn't sell shit, they would be dropped. Anyway, PJ Morton's new album will be out next week and will be a huge success for YMCMB.

    • Anonymous

Also, those other YMCM niggas ain't being creative, they're being lazy.

    • Anonymous

Funny you said that because a lot of YMCMB niggas haven't released their albums and the ones that do who aren't Wayne, Drake, and Nicki flop. John Cena and Ja Rule? Hahaha. That's a joke, right?

    • dentaldamboy

If YMCMB knows they were going to lose money, they would not release albums from any artist at YMCMB. They would shut down. They just need time to be creative. As for GKMC, John Cena and Ja rule shits on it.

    • Anonymous

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! GKMC is a perfect album and sounds NOTHING like Tyga. The last thing I said was true. All those niggas you mentioned, nobody cares about them and they ain't selling shit. Drake and Nicki will never be dropped because they're the only ones besides Wayne who sells records. If your last statement was true, their albums would've been released by now. But they're not. They're just being lazy pricks and CM knows that they'll lose money on them.

    • dentaldamboy

Everything you say was bullshit. GKMC is shit and sounds like a ripoff of Tyga. And your last part isn't true at all. They care about Birdman, PJ Morton, Birdman, Acehood, and Tyga. Hell, if your statement was true, Drake and Nicki would be dropped. As for te rest of the artists, they want their albums to be perfect.

    • Anonymous

Detox is never being released and GKMC isn't shit, it's THE shit. It's still ain't no excuse for why these YMCMB niggas are still shelved. Nobody cares about anyone at YMCMB that aren't Wayne, Drake, and Nicki.

    • dentaldamboy

Everything you said was bullshit. Dr Dre has worked on his album for many years and so did kendrick lamar. They wanted their albums to be perfect (Dr Dre Detox turned out to be too shitty to be released and GKMC is shit.) At YMCMB, we make sure their albums are perfect.

    • Anonymous

Excuses, excuses. A lot of these YMCMB artists, especially Busta, have been working on their album for many years. That whole "they want to take the time to make sure their album is perfect" is bullshit. They'll never see their album released because Birdman know they won't sell shit.

    • dentaldamboy

The reason why the other artists have not released an album is because they want to take the time to make sure their album is perfect. Busta Rhymes signed to YMCMB and he wants to make sure his albums perfect.

    • Anonymous

Hell no. If they go to YMCMB, they'll be raped of their money and be another tax write off.

    • Anonymous

Both Snoop and LL are legends with huge bodies of work. They're wealthy and has been doing music for so long, that it's become a hobby for them. They don't need to go to YMCMB where they won't get any money and be set to the background like every other artist that aren't Wayne, Drake, or Nicki. Snoop and LL are independent now; they already get all the profits and they already have lades all over them. Wayne can't do shit.

  • Anonymous

But the album is trash let the idiots buy it who cares

  • YEBO

AND KEEP IN MIND THAT I AM NOT A HUMAN BEING 2 IS JUST LIL WAYNE'S SIDE PROJECT. THE FIRST PART SOLD ONLY OVER 100K IN ITS FIRST WEEK BUT END UP PLATINUM. JUST WAIT FOR THA CARTER V, ANOTHER MILLI IN THE FIRST WEEK.

    • IMhO

as shitty as IANAHB1 was its like 30k away from plat status in the us... the 2nd one was even worse i literally couldnt listen 2 more than 30 seconds of each song before i shut it off completely...lil waynes ridin his wave thats how hes gettin all these sales but u drop enuff bs eventually weezy will sell 200 a week

    • Anonymous

platinum certifications come from US sales sure it might have sold a milli worldwide but that dont make it plat. thats how rick ross fans like to think

    • OBEY

INAHB1 DID NOT GO PLATINUM. NOBODY COUNTS WORLDWIDE SALES.

    • Kurama

@ Obey: I don't even like Lil' Wayne, but part one has gone platinum. You're probably only thinking of U.S. sales, it's sold over 1.4 million worldwide.

    • OBEY

YOU'RE WRONG. INAHB HAS NOT SOLD 1 MILLION. IT'S NOT A SIDE PROJECT; IT'S A FUCKING STUDIO ALBUM.

    • YEBO

PART 1 HAS SOLD OVER ONE MILLION, CHECK YOUR FACTS. AND IT IS A SIDE PROJECT COMPARED TO CARTER SERIES.

    • Anonymous

      part 1 is not platinum

    • OBEY

INAHB2 IS AN OFFICIAL LIL WAYNE STUDIO ALBUM, NOT A SIDE PROJECT, SO CUT THE BULLSHIT EXCUSES. THE FIRST INAHB DID NOT GO PLATNUM. ALSO, THA CARTER 5 WON'T SELL A MILLION FIRST WEEK LIKE THA CARTER 3.

  • THA TRUTH

Why arent Yall dissin Snoops MAJOR FLOP?? dissin game all the time? as DRAKE says, Hate is love and jealousy at the same time...Game doin something right to keep yall Hatin..worth 25 mill..eat a dick bitches..

  • YEBO

R.A. THE RUGGED MAN FLOPPED, NOBODY WOULD PREDICT ANYTHING ELSE. THIS FAG IS MORE THAN 20 YEAR IN THE GAME, HAVE RECORDED WITH OVERRATED BIGGIE AND STILL NOT ABLE TO MOVE OVER 3,5 K IN HIS FIRST WEEK? HOW CAN ANYBODY CONSIDER HIM AS ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. #LEGENDSNEVERFLOP AND DON'T DEFEND HIM BECAUSE HE'S ON INDEPENDENT LABEL. MACKLEMORE IS ON INDEPENDENT LABEL TOO AND HE SELLS MORE THAN MAINSTREAM RAPPERS. LL FLOP J FLOPPED TOO. NO WONDER HE FLOPPED, HIS LAST ALBUMS WERE SELLOUT POP MUSIC, NOW HE'S TRYING TO BE "HARD" AND AUTHENTIC AGAIN, LOL. THESE VETERANS SHOULD GIVE UP THEIR MICS. MEANWHILE, LIL WAYNE WILL GET GOLD NEXT MONTH.

    • Nah He Right

No, don't be mad he right. These Legends are simply caught up in themselves and can't make a hit no more, they lost there ear. They probably stopped listing to music and just do they own thing. And there fans are getting old and arnt looking for them anymore. Mackmore is a prime example that indepentat artist can make alot of money if they just make a catchy song and stop spittin nothing but SERIOUS ass music 24/7. Give it a break. If you so ILL and your a master of your craft, you should understand music enough to make a few basic songs to generate hype. But they just old men stuck in there ways, living off the respect they earned when they was in there prime. Just like boxer, they need to hang it up, or get cracked on for being ass.

I love how all you broke ass haters supposed hate Lil Wayne but yet yall losers come on every Wayne article and bitch and complain about Wayne. You dumbasses talkin about Macklemore his music worse then Waynes music and that garbage ass sucka has never gone platinum in a week. Wait till Macklemore has actually established any sort of legacy before you broke asses compare him to Wayne. Last time I checked Wayne has a successful body of work Macklemore got one garbage ass song and his music is straight trash Waynes music is timeless.

    • Anonymous

      6 hours for me

    • Christopher Etrata

      More like 6 weeks.

    • Anonymous

GTFOH with those bullshit lies, you troll. This is weekly album sales, not an article about Wayne. Wayne is garbage; Macklemore is better than him. So what if he hasn't gone platinum? He still makes better music. Macklemore has more than just one song; he's got mixtapes and the album which is outselling Waynes, so there's body of work. Stop being a dumbass Wayne groupie, hop off his dick, and get a better taste in music. BTW, Wayne's music is not timeless; it's forgettable by 6 months.

    • LOL

Lol dude u sucking waynes dick???I also think Macklemore is trash but wayne cant be compared to any rapper wayne is just the definition of trash just like macklemore

    • Doubl Negative

      Ummm...?

    • hippaToDaHoppa

These fake track lists are always interesting to me. There's some creative stuff in there. For future reference though, if Mr. Porter dropped an album it would likely be a producer album, so there would be a lot more features, probably on every track, Kon Artis just doesn't have the chops to rap a full-length.

    • Anonymous

Word have you heard any of those tracks

    • Anonymous

do you have a life smh

  • Stranger

Rittz has the best strange music album sales this year so far.....ever py single track on rittz's album is dope....Ive been a kid cudi fan sine day one but all the techno and electric music in his latest album is well annoying....I grew tired of it after a week especially with 50% of the lyrics just being humming and noises.....don't really care for anyone else's album....macklemore is just another pop star like Kesha .....Kendrick is lyrical but his songs got old quick

  • Anonymous

if people still don't see how being white helps with record sales, check macklemore...

    • Anonymous

What's Bubba Sparxx and Lil Whyte's excuse then?

    • IMhO

EXCEPT yelawolf (never fucked w him) and kreayshawk and vaginal disease nastys dirty asses

    • IMhO

is it a coincidence that white rappers generally got more to say now adays then black rappers and white rappers are more lyrically skilled than 95 per of the black rappers out now?

    • Anonymous

so why did yelawolf, machine gun kelly and kreayshawn all do so much worse?

    • ETK

you niggas are gettin old. if a white dude doesn't sell nobody says nothin, but as soon as a white dude makes those mad sales "oh its cause he's white" where were y'all when Yelawolf failed to go gold, huh Macklemore has two major singles in his pocket, that's the only fuckin explanation

    • foreal

and having a catchy hit single has nothing to do with it?

  • dentaldamboy

LL Cool J's been knocked out with his authentic flop. Should have signed to YMCMB where we work and there are benefits including 70% of album sales go to the artist, huge promotion, ladies all over him, and Birdman being a mentor to him.

    • TROLLIN ON THESE TROLLS

LL'S ON AN INDEPENDENT LABEL, HOMES. SO THAT MEANS MORE MONEY IN HIS OWN POCKET THAN THESE MAJOR LABEL NIGGAS. BESIDES, HE'S ALREADY PROVED HIMSELF IN THE GAME AND IS JUST MAKING MUSIC AS A HOBBY NOW. HE'S FILTHY RICH AND STILL GETS THE LADIES.

    • Anonymous

Nobody believes you, dentalbitch. Stop making up lies. BTW, LL don't need to go to YMCMB. He's a legend who already got a huge body of work and is getting that Hollywood money. Going to YMCMB would be the worst move he'll ever make; it'll set him back and he'll be another tax write-off like the other 90+ artists signed.

    • dentaldamboy

I did and he said he does indeed get 70%. That video he made we told him to lie about him not receiving any money.

    • foreal

ask tyga if he is getting 70% of sales.

  • Fresh 2 Def

I'd just like to thank everyone for all they're love and support. ya bish!

  • Anonymous

"Exit 13" is LL's 13th "authentic" is 14. Get it together dx.

  • Anonymous

macklemore is killin it the album is dope!

  • Hip Hop

You see where rap is now, when Lil Wayne is #12 and Ghostface Killah #157... -.-

  • Anonymous

kendrick is about to hit that Plat....in 2013. That's a statement.

  • the-shadi

headlining festivals, releasing the official video for bitch don't kill my vibe, damn kendrick going plat

  • random

If macklemores album becomes platinum it will be ridicolous

  • -

hey fresh 2 dick.. mackelmore outsold lil wayne what you think of that?

    • TROLLIN ON THESE TROLLS

HAHAHA, DUMB 2 DEF, YOU'RE A FUCKING IDIOT. YOU TRY TO CORRECT HIM, BUT YOU'RE USING BAD GRAMMAR LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER.

    • Anonymous

Fresh 2 Def is gayer than Yessir

    • Anonymous

no i think i was right. Using "then" in a comparative sentence is never correct, and it's a mistake that many natives - especially on the internet - tend to make. I am taller than you. He is smarter than me. She is younger than you. Dave is wiser than that. Sarah is stronger than us.

    • Fresh 2 Def

it should be "Weezy is more pop then macklemore" not "weezy is more pop than macklemore"

    • Anonymous

weezy is more pop than macklemore

    • Fresh 2 Def

i dont come to your work and smack the broom out your hand. hard to compare rap act to a pop act. good for mackemore! weezy does it tho

  • So Icy Boi!

good to see Lil Wayne outsells every nigga. he will go platinum before Kendrick. believe me. Weezy has much more Twitter followers. Kendrick's album is 1 years old... Weezy has more fans. swag

    • TROLLIN ON THESE TROLLS

GOOD TO SEE KENDRICK OUTSELLING EVERY NIGGA. HE WILL HIT PLATINUM BEFORE WEEZY. BELIEVE ME. KENDRICK HAS WAY MORE RESPECTABLE FANS. LIL WAYNE'S ALBUM IS ONLY A MONTH AND A HALF OLD BUT IS ALREADY PLAYED THE FUCK OUT... WAYNE HAS MORE DICKRIDERS. YA BISH!

    • IMhO

kendricks albums not even 6 months old...

    • LOLOL

LOLOL @ all the fags who feed into the troll. Yall are fucking worse than the troll himself. YAWN

    • foreal

you are crazy if you think weezy is going to sell 600k units before k dot sells 130k units.... because of his twitter followers.

    • AM

what a faggot lmao eat a dick. non hip hop ass nigga

  • Larry Vuitton

RITTZ has the best album on the chart for real.

  • Anonymous

rittz is nice, def. started to check him out..he even got legend suga free on there!

    • Anonymous

i will now not listen to it because that wack motherfucker is featured. he wrecked so many good snoop dogg songs back in the day and i've never forgiven him

  • Fresh 2 Def

i told yall not to sleep on this ish! Lil wayne once again outsells cha boi kendrick... yall got this love for kendrick but he cant even beat birdman jr in sales! wow he fell off and this his first album... jeez yall. weezy we been in the game damn near 20 years and he still sells more then the "hot rapper" proud of ya!!!! and the whole ymcmb. keep ya head up. ya damn bish!

    • Anonymous

That's bullshit. You believed another troll who lies a lot. As a matter of fact, you ARE dentaldambitch in disguise. BTW, he ain't straight and he doesn't have women over him.

    • Fresh 2 Def

I checked the facts dickboy from my homie dentaldamboy who by the way is straight and has women over him.

    • ^

You're a fucking idiot. Kendrick is outselling Wayne. There's no 10 million unaccounted copies; he's only sold 404k, which means he's not diamond and is lees than Kendrick's album that sold 878k. Get your facts straight.

    • TROLLIN ON THESE TROLLS

DUMB 2 DEF AND ALL THE PEOPLE AGREEING WITH HIM (PROBABLY HIM UNDER DIFFERENT NAMES) ARE STUPID. AND HOW ARE YOU GOING TO DISS KENDRICK AND USE HIS CATCHPHRASE?

    • Fresh 2 Def

Wayne is outselling Kendrick. IANAHB2 had 10 million unaccounted copies so he's diamond already.

    • IMhO

last i checked everything wayne drops is pop. his voice is more annoying than ever, and you combine that with a massive drop in his lyrics game and you get washed up! fresh2def is a small time thinker you look at the small pic (one week) everyonne looks at the big pic ( total sales and tours) and kendrick is at the top of this rap shit right about now

    • Anonymous

lets talk about macklemore outselling lil wayne continuously and his album came out INDEPENDENTLY way back in October

    • WISDOM.KNOWLEDGE.STRENGTH.

i didnt think it was possible, but "fresh 2 def" is the smartest one making comments.

    • Fresh 2 Def

lol kendrick sold some last year. sure. but what he doing now? wayne has been outselling his album for 2 months straight now. dont look at the past bro. look at the present. weezy does it! mackemore did sell more than wayne. this is true. but hes a pop act. so take it for what its worth ya damn bish!

    • Anonymous

You want to talk about now? Macklemore & Ryan Lewis outselling Lil Gay!

    • Good Guy

ahh come on. let fresh make his point! dude jumps up here once in a while. give him an A for effort.

    • -

kendrick sold 878,000 copies of good kid madd city... wayne sold 404,000, i don't really call that outselling bro

    • Anonymous

this is not a game man. i take my internet rap articles extremely seriously. i do not like when people like a rapper i dont. kendrick is a man of great great passion. it breaks my heart to see someone hate on him. so i make my internet rap article point. do not deny me of this sir.

    • IMhO

you guys are dumb, this guy does this in every albm sale post since waynes bs dropped.. everyone whos educated knows whats up when you read a comment just say to yourself 'this guys to stupid for me to even respond back' have a chuckle n keep it movin loll

    • Fresh 2 Def

stop clownin' nobody cares about last year, last month last weeke or even last yesterday. its all about now and the future. and the future and now is lil wayne. he outsold kendrick. plane and simple. so i dont see your arguments. if kendrick can outsell weezy next week (doubt it) then yall can talk. until them its waynes turn. just sayin

    • Anonymous

i dont like fresh 2 def. but hes got a point. ill cosign. last years sales dont matter.

    • Come On

Um kendricks album has been out alot longer than lil wayne's and secondly thats considered a flop by lil wayne standards AND his album I'M NOT A HUMAN BEING 2 won't catch Kendricks album so he didn't out sell him, he'll barley go gold....so there. P.S I'm not a huge fan of either but I'm just stating the facts no biased opinion here!

    • Anonymous

So let me get this straight you dumbass! KL alum been out for a good minute and Lil Gays album is on its 3rd week. Lil gay outsells KL with only 12k units and you have the nerve to say he outselling KL?! Lil Gays album is on decline and will soon fell off the charts with out even touching Plat status! Talk about a Dickrider!

  • Eric

Will.i.am suppose to be pop, I can't believe he ain't selling. Kendrick will be platinum by the end of the year. Y'all should checkout thegrandreport, they be having some good stuff too
