Scarface Says "Hip Hop Is White Now," Blames Record Executives

Scarface also says there is "a conspiracy against the Blacks in Hip Hop" and explains how record label executives have "brainwashed a generation" of fans.

Scarface recently vented about his frustrations with record label executives and Hip Hop. In an interview with Hardknock TV, Face shared his displeasure by speaking on how he feels race and racism affect the music that is released by record companies.

"I feel like we losing it," Face said in the clip. "I feel like the people that are in control of what Hip Hop does is so fucking White and so fucking Jewish and so they don't give a fuck about what the culture and the craft really is about."

Scarface paused at this point and said he wanted to clarify.

"Let me say this shit right because I want this to be as offensive as I can fuckin' make it for these old-ass punks that's running these record labels that's in the powerful positions to dictate what the Black community hears and listens to. I fucking hate that shit. That shit pisses me off," he added.

"There's no fucking way that you can tell me that it's not a conspiracy against the Blacks in Hip Hop. You put out fucking records that make us look stupid. You make us look dumb. You brainwash a generation of Hip Hoppers with this fucking crud and then when these other rappers come out, splitting it down the middle, these other rappers' shit sound like 'Wow!' Y'all look great!' 'Y'all look stupid!' ... Then mothafuckers start going over here and pretty soon, Hip Hop is White now."

More from this interview, including Scarface's praise for Kendrick Lamar, can be seen below.

Scarface has been rapping as a solo artist and group member with Geto Boys since the early 1990s. Scarface has also been in charge of Def Jam South in the past. Less than a year ago, Scarface spoke with HipHopDX's current Editor-in-Chief Justin Hunte regarding his take on the new generation of emcees and Hip Hop. Speaking of this, he said, "I think that anything goes in Hip Hop these days. I blame everybody who came before right now, including myself, for the conditions of what it is. I think the people that came before me taught me and if I couldn’t reach nobody else, then I didn’t do my job. I should’ve been a little better about the way that I laid my blueprint down. So I have nobody to blame but myself for the conditions of Hip Hop today."

WHAT labels nicca?! It's almost ALL independent out here, how a black man like TECH N9NE with NO label can generate over $20,000,000.00 a year! There is NO 'conspiracy' to hold a black man down, that's in YOUR MIND & those that are unwilling to do the work, the investing & risk taking it takes to build BUSINESS! Excuses are just 'talk', the independent DOERS are better off now more than ever! Music is 'colorblind', we hear with our EARS not our 'eyes' or prejudices!

Scarface is talking out of the end of his beaver blistered cock

  • ...

Scarface is just mad that him and the geto boys are no longer relevant.

  • MZet

This is why black people never get ahead. Always trying to blame others for everything. The Chief Keefs and Souljah Boys who you think are ruining hip hop got huge buzz on the internet before they ever had a record deal. There were no insidious Jewish record executives pushing their music on everybody. It was just dumb ass niggas uploading songs on youtube doing dumb ass nigga shit and since everyone listening (white and black) is just as fucking dumb, they all loved it. The record execs aren't choosing what kind of music to give us. They are just giving us exactly what we're demanding.

  • Tony

Scarface is a crack head. He gives the worst interviews ever. I remember seeing one interview where he was laid back the entire time and barely answering any of the questions, then the moment his pusher called, he perked up and was like "I'm doing an interview right now I will call you back." It was the only time he appeared to coherent through the entire video. Sad. He's nothing like he used to be. Back in the 90s, he was like my fuckin hero. "Hand of the Dead Body" with Ice Cube gave me chills. "Now I Feel Ya" has to be one of the illest story raps ever. You have to ask yourself why rappers like Ice Cube, Queen Latifa, LL Cool J, Ice T, and different ones have gone on to do great things, but people like Scarface are just old and bitter and complaining about the State of Hip Hop.

  • Fuk

Face is wise & their a reason you can not see it, so roll on with Timberlake & Marshall

  • fun

scarface, send him back to where he came from. His rhymes are weak!!!

  • Joe

He spends all of his time complaining about whites and jews at record labels supressing black people in hip-hop, but he seems to have completely forgotten the internet exists. Youtube and Bandcamp have allowed artists to become big without endorsments from anyone other than their fans, this guy is just racist.

    • PUSSY SHOTS FIRED

Even Miley Cyrus and all the non Jewish actors in Hollywood know it's a bunch of old farts controlling the action and drying up the money , look at how all the old time rappers barely got payed hell even left eye talked about that shit .

    • Andy_Ghost

He didn't say anything even remotely racist, even if you operate from its conventional dictionary definition, which is questionable anyway (i.e. to what degree, if any, can non-white people be racist against white people, seeing that the latter is at the top). Saying that most of the people controlling the distribution of the music are of a different race than a vast majority of those making the music (which is true) doesn't make any negative statement about any race--it's pointing out a problematic power dynamic (i.e. institutionalized racism), and it's nothing but positive to point that out. My only small criticism is that maybe saying it's "so Jewish" could perpetuate this myth that Jews run and control everything, which is a troubling and long-running trope, but being neither black nor Jewish, I'm not really all that qualified to go into too much detail about the history there. But racist? Naw, he's just speaking the truth.

    • Ha!

Or you're just a butthurt white guy

  • Alex

Love scarface, but hiphop was in the beginning dominated by puertoricans and whites.

  • Anonymous

It's just racist as fuck to say "this music isn't for white people" yet I bet more white people listen to Scarface now than blacks do. I bet white's respect dude more (because I bet whites write more articles then blacks on dude) So he's just mad that his own race doesn't accept his craft

    • Anonymous

White people are just simply ruining Hip Hop...I like Eminem but ever since he made it big white people think Hip Hop should make music for them as an excuse to act black

  • Anonymous

I lose respect when old rappers blame whitey all the time. Fck Scarface.

    • Funk Doc

I know what you mean about Kool G Rap, in fact I think I recall an interview with him where he said something like 'hip hop is universal' and that's right you know. As a huge (white) Face Mobb fan I suppose at first I lost a bit of respect but then again, I'm not really bothered as long as he doesn't say something like white people can't listen to my music. Because then I better he'd lose a lot of support from fans. However, i found it funny how you said Kool G would never say something as ignorant as that; have you never heard Hey Mister? That's a ridicolously ignorant song!

  • ATOM

Beta says: First of all: I agree with Scarface claiming that the Executives are White and they sell low quality hip hop to keep the masses asleep and beeing sheeps who dont do anything else but consume, and not questioning the socioeconomical situation in the world were living. Thats why they induce people to listen to rappers like Rick Ross, with no lyrical content and no contrahegemonical postures. On the other hand, thats just a product these white execs sell, but the people are the ones who are consuming that s***. And a lot of black people (I dont like to say white people or black people as if they were groups of people with the exact same socioeconomical and cultural conditions, and with the same beliefs, because that is not true) listen to Rick Ross as well. A lot of black people (and white people as well) are consuming this low quality hip hop impulsed by the execs. Thats why Scarface claim is not entirely correct (and I say this with all the respect that a great MC like Scarface deserves), because he only sees one part of the problem (the white execs offering this product of nonsense raps, with mcs that only rap about money, hoes and stupid things that contribute to keeping the people ASLEEP). But then again, the problem is not only about white people taking over hip hop, because this MCs that spread nonsense are also black. And they are the ones signing contracts and composing this music. And a lot of black people are buying this s*** and consuming this s*** as well. So So thats why the problem is not about black or white, is about STUPID PEOPLE and INTELIGENT PEOPLE. About people that choose to stay asleep and consume and consume and consume and never question the main topics of this racial capitalist global new world order, in which the goverments all around the globe (with few excepctions) protect the bankers and the rich people, that are always richer and always paying less taxes; and disprotects the poor people (that are always poorer, and with less rights and more taxes). And the prices of the food keep growing up, and a lot of other f****** up s*** that we should discuss everyday. Thats why I decide to listen to real music and real hip hop (whether black or white) like UGK, GangStarr or Immortal Technique, instead of complaining about how bad music is in a website and not doing anything good. Thats why I choose to study and read I see a lot of people discussing stupid things, and a lot of people being racist and ignorant in this site. Fighting against each other instead of getting together and starting to change this reality. Hip hop is not about a colour. Is true that hip hop was created by a oppresed black community. I know hip hop is BLACK. But nowadays hip hop seeks for unity, hip hop is about getting together, whether black, white, chinese or alien. Unity. Respect. Have fun. Thats HIP HOP. I dont see KRS saying: Yo, you are german, you cant listen to hip hop. F*** that s***. Hip hop is peace. Hip hop is changing our way of living. My claim: EDUCATE YOURSELF; listen to GURU, open your mind and support real hip hop by buying those records. By buying real s***. Peace from Buenos Aires Argentina to the WORLD.

    tony montana is white.

Scarface is one frustrated and delusional rapper. Wack music always existed, it's just more popular than ever and the "Jews" arent always the fun ones to blame. It's the demographic that buys the wack music. Last I heard, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and Drake still dominated the charts. It's not about Macklemore or Mac Miller. For every one of those there is a Chief Keef.

  • mrhungus

Scarface is a drunk angry racist. I bet if some rich white woman was to show him genuine love, he'd be all up in them guts.

    • EDOGZ818

Of course, who wouldn't, I bet if a rich Black, Chinese, Mexican, Martian, etc., women showed you genuine love....you'd be all up in the guts too! 'Chet probably be some fake love & a few chips & you'd smash! He wasn't saying it like that, what he was saying, was that the industry or image, will be taken over by marketing executives, who will market to a certain demographic, mainly whites with money....since as a whole, Blacks don't have any.

"Why is Tech N9ne not on mainstream media? He's obviously been tremendously successful and has a huge following, so where are the magazine covers or articles, radio spins, or TV interviews and performances? If he was white he would definitely be getting a lot more shine" Could it be Tech's lyrics about devil worshipping are so non mainstream that the average fan isn't going to want to listen to him? For a guy who can rhyme, he hasn't done himself many favors. He's qbviously successful and that's cool, but if he ditched the shock stuff he could have been right up there with the Em's, Jay's and Ja's.

  • OGx3

For all you young dumb wana be hiphop no cd fake listeners. Scarface is the realest Motherfucker still alive. Listen to The Fix and tell me if that shit dropped today it would not be the best album in hiphop. "Scarface is an OG, rapped with 2Pac, you no that guy who was on Death Row with Dr Dre!" You do realize that guy has been dead for many years now.

  • CENTRAL BANK

Scarface is right! The white racist assault on hip-hop has been going on covertly for over 20 years, but now has just overtly emerged its racist white-jewish/muslim/christian/atheist head! White people from all faith and cultures have consistently and historically been against any vestiges of black economic, cultural, political, educational, and judicial autonomy/independence! Black people are now starting to wake up to a reality that is racist, white, and anti-black; and hopefully we will unify and neutralize all efforts of our 6,000 year old enemy/oppressor, i.e white male, white female, and white child! Peace, black power, & black love! Oh yea... Death to White Supremacy/Racism

  • hdproducer

I agree with face but I think the black community started rap and hip hop so just how we brought it in, we can take it out. If blacks don't think its cool anymore, do you think the rest will? In other words, if blacks say that hip hop is played out, then it's played out! I personally do not listen to the majority of the music thats current today, because it sound stupid and the lyrics are the same .

How? How do you stop supporting it? Even the artists that deserve it have another rich white executive (I, too, am white BTW) dictating what gets said on record. Mad respect to Kendrick, he's one of my favorite current artists, but Iovine steers that ship at the end of the day. Yes, thankfully, they did give him creative freedom. But will the next record be that way?

It's hard to respond to Face because while he went out of his way to be mad offensive, he really didn't articulate himself very much. Hip-hop is white now, and it's the white and Jewish executives fault. Who is he accusing of what, exactly? What is he saying went wrong? That hip-hop is "controlled" by white dudes, or at least most of the money behind it? Because that's been true for a long time, including during the Golden Age. Hip-hop blew all the way up and rappers started getting signed by majors early on, and a lot of universally recognized classic albums came out under labels with a rich white dude at the top of the pyramid. Were rich white dudes ultimately responsible for Illmatic or Low End Theory? Is he saying white artists are the problem? Sure, there are a few white dudes out now. Not enough to shift the demographic in any meaningful way, but you've got your Yelawolfs and MGKs and Macklemores and what not. Everyone acts so threatened because Macklemore had a massive hit that led to overnight stardom. You know who else had a ridiculously huge hit? Fucking SOULJA BOY. Where is he now? Hell if I know. The real measure should be hip-hop acts who have maintained major respect, longevity, marketability, and massive success for a long period of time. The Biggies and Pacs (short careers on Earth, I know, but no less relevant today), the Jay-Zs and Nas's, hell, even the Scarfaces. So for white dudes, there's Eminem and...who else? Oh yeah, in a 14-year career and 30-40 plus years since hip-hop's birth, he's the ONLY FUCKING ONE. (Yeah, there's the Beasties, but they kind of occupy their own space outside the mainstream hip-hop world). And Eminem had to be co-signed by one of the biggest, most universally respected black tastemakers and superstars in hip-hop to get where he is. Is he blaming white hip-hop fans themselves? Let's ignore for the moment the fact that if it wasn't for a white hip-hop-buying audience, Face would be a lot broker. Go to a Waka Flocka or Jeezy show, then go to a show by Talib or Black Star or TDE or so-called authentic and positive rappers, and peep the racial demographics. White dudes support "real hip-hop" like crazy, so how do you blame them for it's decline? Is he blaming record execs for the fact so much of mainstream hip-hop is sex, drugs, money, hoes, and other fuckery? First of all, there's been a lot of that from the beginning, let's not act like that shit started in the 2000s. A lot of classic hip-hop albums are filled with that shit, we just give it a pass because they're classic hip-hop albums. Let's go further back in time to the Blaxploitation movies, celebrated for their anti-white-authority spirit, financial independence, and being made by and for black people. What was the content of those movies? Sex, drugs, money, violence. This isn't a black or white thing, people are just attracted to that shit because it's entertaining. I'm as far from a gangster as anyone could be but I love Goodfellas as much as the next dude. It was true in the 30s, it was true in the 60s, it's true now. Hell, like so many people have pointed out, this dude got his fucking NAME from a movie portraying a Cuban drug lord, played by an Italian, full of all the ignorance and glorification of negative shit that could be packed into a 2-hour film. I'm going to need for Face to explain himself a little better for me to conclude he's not full of shit.

The "Caucasian view of rap music" doesn't clear things up at all. What does that mean? I'm Caucasian and I bump The Roots, Talib, Tribe, Digable Planets, Nas, Gang Starr...basically the shit universally recognized as "real hip-hop." I've been to most of those artists' shows...whole lotta honkeys in there. So if I'm Caucasian, and that's my view of rap, shouldn't that be what's getting promoted?

    • Anonymous

What he's saying is the direction of the genre has turned to the Caucasian view of rap music. A lot of you seem to overlook that Scarface was a major label music executive. He knows about radio spins, demographic marketing, promotion.

  • From the CPT

Suburban whites who don't have the street IQ to know the difference between a C.O. and a policeman are still heartbroken that Ross doesnt know Pablo Escobar and that JayZ didn't lose 92 Bricks. The Streets and people who listen to music for entertainment don't concern themselves with weather or not Dr Dre was ever a "Gangsta" or if Pusha T ever sold kilograms or if Snoop ever lived off the earnings of a prostitute....we listen to rap-music for the sound of the instruments and the slickness of the poetry. Suburban whites listen to our music so they can live out a "Ghetto" fantasy through the lives of our rappers which is why they focus so much on what they perceive as real/fake or fabricated/authenticated...our music is their only means of getting a street education so they actually attempt to believe song lyrics are supposed to be biographical criminal confessions..

  • That Dude in His Basement

What I learn most about white people from reading these mostly white comments, is that they have a massive superiority complex. They're very self righteous and think they're somehow "above" the things a lot of 'black people' choose to rap about. "How dare they talk about the struggles they had to deal with at the hands of white people, how dare they rap from the perspective a person from a white created ghetto, how dare they rap about having a better life after being deprived of anything and everything their whole lives. They should act like hipsters or pick up a dictionary and use big words to impress us. We control this shit and we should dictate what they do, even though they invented and we're just guests" lol That's what you guys sound like to me. White people have forgotten that they're just guests in our house. They have gotten WAAYYYY to bold and comfortable with this shit, look at these comments. They're no longer just buying rappers music for what it is, or accepting it... They actually think they can control it. They feel entitled to our music, as if it's the natural order of the world for them to take what we have. It's kind of unbelievable to me. It's articles like this that remind me why I don't have any white friends..

    • ATOM

I think you are racist. And you should have some white friends and realice not all white people are stupid and trying to controll you. Or maybe you are smoking too much and the paranoia is starting to chase your ass

    • Anonymous

Well, when the artists find a way to buy out the labels and run everything themselves then they can say and do whatever they want. Until then, they have rules to follow just like everybody else. If they don't like it, go drive a taxi.

    • lol

eminem runs rap so your all guests of eminem. and black people dont feel nothing at the hands of white people but jealousy.. majority of yall hold yourselfs back

SMH! You leaches just don't get it do you? This is a BUSINESS... Labels see that the Urban community (minorities) don't support or buy shit... They steal everything... So the labels turn around and sign a bunch of white acts because they know white people buy albums... So while they're slowly taking over a genre created by minorities, they're making minorities look bad with acts like Trinidad James... That sad part is that you mothers fuckers aren't going to wake up and realize it until it's too late!

    • Anonymous

Urban black purchasing power is so strong that they'll target that demographic for everything else except the music they make? I'll give you some time to see how foolish you sound.

  • EVERYONE ON THIS LIST SUCKS ASS

Notorious B.I.G. Another B.I.G. act. The biggie bad flosser, mafia don Frank Blizzard, moves his pinky and youre dead, ****in girls all around. Yeah. And then you get to know him and you realize that he was a dude who never overcame his Edips complex, being mamas huge boy at age of 25. Not to even mention that he was an incredibly smart dumbass, a straight A kid (thats gangsta) who ****ed it all up for standing up on the corner and being a small-time dealer. Maybe he was autistic or something, because at age of 22 he showed intellectual level of a fresh teen, frustrated because of his fatness (asthmatic, goddamn), depressed rebel without a cause with suicidal thoughts. But, okay, he at least had balls to say how it is on his first album, but until second he just became another in the line of mediocre bling rappers utterly bored with their life. Not to mention that somewhere in the process he almost completely lost his ability to rap in legit sentences. When it comes to sex c'mon, who was he fooling? Someone that fat cant at all, I mean how can anyone get to his dick through those hundreds of pounds of jelly fat? Noticed how every fat rapper loves to brag about his sexual escapades? Theres a very simple reason: they dont get any. And, because Biggie was obviously still in puberty, he had to make up all those stories with and Manila trilla to impress his classmates. So, lets sum up why Biggie sucked: because he was a depressed fat ed-up lying lifetime adolescent mamas boy. Content? Rakim What makes Rakim such a great MC? Does he leave you wordless with his vividly told and intense stories? Not quite. Is he capable to make your jaw drop with displays of honesty and soul? Even less, bruh. Does he create muy controversia with smart and on point political statements that make you think whether you like it or not? Uh So whats left? Bragging about the mic? Oh well I could even stomach it, if he could at least prevent you from falling asleep with that. He physically cant put any stress on words, his throat is made in such way thats impossible for him to ever raise his voice. Hes actually unable to switch his flow up. He just goes on n on for days and days with that limp delivery. I mean, his whole career sounds like smoothened-out A Milli. You want further proof? He OWES his career to Eric B. The point is, Rakim never fell off. But while Eric B. was able to find dope ghostproducers in an era when you could actually make original compositions from loads of samples, propelling Rakim to stardom, just look what happened when laws forced production to be dumbed-down. I repeat, Rakim didnt change a bit during that period. Oh yeah, also a problem he didnt change a bit. Trying to sell same **** that was in twenty years ago. Jay-Z Ooh, S. Carter, the swaggering ultra-rich cocky mother****er everyones jockin'. Well, lets scrape under that surface and what do we find? A po' thick-lipped small black dude with inferiority complex so huge it cant even be cured. Hes so insecure about his lyrics that he constantly has to bite other rappers lyrics to be sure he has at least one line worth the listeners while. Hes so insecure about his albums that he must put out one every year cause hes eaten inside by the doubt that if he waited more than 12 months, listeners could as well as forget he exists. Hes so insecure about his appearance that he constanly needs to repeat how cocky he is just to convince himself that he isnt a total weenie. Hes so insecure about his sound that he always has to run with whichever rapper or producer is hot at the moment. Hes so insecure about his clique that hes lately actually avoiding to be seen with them, 'cause he cant sleep thinking if they suit him or not. And he got only in one real beef during his whole career, where this inferiority complex made him flail. Sorry, in all of his disses he came more like Nas fanboy than a person who wants to get at him. All of his disses came in a matter of weeks after Nas shots came, while Nas even let it all bubble for months before coming out. And he was literally left WORDLESS with Ether, he broke down on radio when asked about it. And he failed even at ****ing Nas baby mama. Eminem So what in the world is so special about this cracker? (Yeah cracker, a white trailerpark * from KC is a cracker.) We have already too much shock rappers walking around talking **, thank you very much. He made a celebrity out of his wack self bysaying controversial about doing shrooms and asking kids if they like violence. A real menace, worrd. Then he went out on dissing every single teeny-pop star like himself, that knew they wouldnt respond. Yeah, thats real mothering ****, battle rapper, controversy, excellent stuff, Id sign him on Aftermath too. 70% of time he comes out as a just substance-less, soul-less cursing machine with bleached hair (Nazi, anyone?). What about other 30%? Then you have his other side of hisself, the soft and tender father of a baby, loving, thoughtful and politically engaged. Dont you have the feeling like you just squeezed a huge chunk of horse ****? Yeah, thats Eminem. Either that stinkin' you wanna vomit or that schmaltzy that you wanna yeah, vomit again. PLUS! He swapped The Way I Am lyricism for Fack. T.I. T.I. is the king of South. Thats it. What more can you say about this dude? Did he ever reveal anything else in his raps other than that hes big swaggerin' king with his street side? His whole career could as well be called How to say youre the king of South in 103 ways. The number is prolly smaller, cause he sometimes repeats himself but, man, you simply cant avoid it when you ran out of things to say with your first song. Oh yeah. You can say one more thing about him. Hes sure to jump on whatever bandwagon rolls by at the moment to increase his sales, including auto-tune singing, that greasy sell-out. And is he biting Jay-Z for appearance? Nas Theres been so much said about Nas these days on this forum that I dont know what can I say about him anyway. Well, lets switch the script a bit and talk about his flaws, not his sins. For starters, he completely deserves comparison with Rakim, as he always raps with the same flow no matter what beat hes on. But hes even worse, Rakim cant switch it up; Nas can, he proved it already on One Mic. But he sticks with that played-out declamatory spitting because its easy, and hes such a great man and lyricist he doesnt need to care how to present himself, lazy mother****er. Then, he absolutely loves the smell of his own dick. Nas is actually Peter Sellers, didnt you know that? He can be whatever you want, he can be a Colombian mafioso, or street prophet, or mainstreamish version of Killah Priest, or a revolutionary who gets old, all while keeping his swaggerin' and flossin'. And whats even worse, hes lame and unconvincing in most of these attempts, because you FEEL hes trying so hard not to be him. And I simply dont understand why, if he kept his career in Illmatic vibe hed be at least equally successful, if not more, and everyone would love him. I cant escape this feeling that Nas is actually a chickenshit, a scared-of-life yes-man, who avoids standing for himself and rather listens to whatever whoever says to him, MC Serch, Steve the Commissioner, Destiny, Jigger, whoever. Hes just a chicken who tries to squash all beef and even kept his mouth shut when Pete Rock ****ed his girlfriend, or Pac checked him in the park back in 96. I'ma put out a diss track, now if you dont wanna problems just keep your mouf shut then and then maybe we chill. Do you say something like that to someone you actually consider a man? AND, hes bad at sex. Did you notice that every girlfriend cheats on him? Black Thought If we put aside that hes charisma-free and is one of the rappers unable to switch up flow if his life depended on it, which already makes him a basket case, we can still pick on him because hes obviously dying to be accepted as an embodiement of black thought (which already makes him white, no matter what rainbow color he appears to be). He was too thoughtful to be a decent battle rapper through most of his career, filled with limp brag-about-the-mic raps that got Roots a bad name along with ?uestlove losing his mind. Now, for his two last albums, he employed his royal thoughtfulness in more political ways, and, like most amateur politicians, he failed badly at that. Yeah, bravo, the solution to all word problems is in that you gotta get money so it wont get at you, well thats surely something no one thought about. Itd surely help all other brothers in the hood, wont it? Oh yeah, I forgot, he aint a ghetto child, hes an university jock. So now we have an educated selfish mother****er on a mission to save dah black nation by means of self-enriching. Thats why he sucks like a vacuum cleaner. Method Man You already know the main Meth complaint: that hes DAH most disappointing MC to ever come up. Hes almost a professional buzz killer. He makes the buzz of a hornet nest with his guest appearances and collaborations, and then drops a solo album that functions as an insecticide. And thats sad as , and pisses me off so bad I wanna ing shove his head in Tical 0 jewel case. You know why? Hes one of the really few MCs in whose technique I cant find any flaw: hes versatile flower, hes capable of doing any subject matter from love songs to battle raps to mafia ****, he sounds excellent over any kind of beat from G-funk to Diddy-pop, he can be slow and seductive on one song and madder than a hatter on another and his lyrics always make sense. He has such an energy that you dont even need to be on a concert, you buckwild in your room with headphones on. He has improved over years. How many rappers can say that theyre better fifteen years into career than when they first showed up? And despite all of that he cant make albums that are above decent (save for the debut, but that was 94 anyway, more a RZA thing than anyone others). Seems that hes, despite everything positive about him, simply mentally handicapped from crafting something on his own. A dream follower. Extremely talented and unforgivably dumb. Alas. Big L (I never liked to diss dead people, probably my clan-based Mediterranean upbringing. But, I have a sense of obligation here) Why did he suck, apart from that he used to write his freestyles and then repeat them in his songs? Well, for starters, because hes a totally inhuman rapper. Nothing human ever in Big Ls songs, just a lot of haaaaard thug **** talk always in form of punchlines that mostly dont have any connection between them and flossing and sexing. No soul. (Thats always case with short rappers, they live with that murdering inferiority complex and must cover it up with too excessive blingin and thuggin.) He even used to rap like a robot: always screaming his rhymes at top of his lungs with that high-pitched nasal voice. Always. Never slow and threatening. (Again because he was short, because he must got used to it during childhood, nobody would notice him if he wasnt the loudest in the group. Prolly no one took him serious even when he learned to scream). Ghostface Killah Ah. Mr. Starks came first, excellent, I was thinking of him while creating the thread. Ghost sucks because hes an act. And an extremely ill-defined act at that. Who is Ghostface Killah? Is he that misogynist * who ed your friend, yeah you stank hoe? Is he that soft and tender wimp who was slobbering at sight of her putting her cigarette in her mouth and is unable to even get her number? Is he that maniacal killer who makes you rock those false joints for **ing with his man? Is he that sobbing prayer who wants to be sacrificed so that his kids can be in paradise? Or is he just that dude thats always telling something very jovially, but nobody ever understands him? Wait, the best part comes straight up. Hes inclined to talk tough bout meeting this OGs and making coke deals and whatever yet he raps all that in a voice of a 12-year old girl drowning in her own tears. I mean, how can you take seriously a man who apparently walks around breaking jaws and still sounds like he grew up without testicles? And if that wasnt enough, he concluded that he must talk slang-heavily to be a mafioso, but po boy doesnt know any slang words, so he must INVENT THEM. He gots to make up what he thinks streets sound like. Yeah. A male girl who raps his tough street fantasies. He should be white. Oh yeah, and hes the man of the 70s, I shouldnt forget that. He just loves Temptations and Marvin Gaye and Aretha Franklin (sounding like earless version of the latter) so much that he just has to make a R&B album. Talking about hardcore hip-hop and loyalty to the game. He doesnt even like rap how can he not suck?

lol. i'd hate to think of the rappers, if any, that you actually like.

  • Eye Control

I agree with Scarface but black people have to take some of the blame. Everybody wants to be "official" and people care more about the logo on the back of the record instead of the record itself. Instead of putting down every artist who isn't down with the majors as "struggle rappers" and blindly following whatever trend corporate radio and websites shove down our throats, we have to support our independent artists and demand that MCs show a little skill and taste before we accept them as superstars. Dudes like Drake and Trinidad James don't care about the hood or our collective struggle, they are merely actors playing a role in a corporate movie. The whole idea that they made it on their own by putting their music out on the web is a lie perpetuated by the corporate media. Don't fall for the scam, support our real artists and remember that real cats get better with age. We need our young cats but we also need the wisdom and skill of legends like Scarface. He's not bitter or "old" he's just someone who knows the score. Respect him!!

sad day for hip hop. all time great blaming the jewish people for his current irrelevance. I guess scarface prefers a segregated society. It's a definite smack in the face for a lot of people that came before him. Hip Hop has always been composed of many sub genres and regional influences. I'm sure this knowledge isn't lost on someone like scarface he's just bitter that he no longer takes up the space in it that he once did.

  • DJ NITTI

I want to add one more thing. I think white artists will take over Hip Hop or better yet rap, I'm old school so I don't use the terms interchangeably. To me, Hip Hop is a whole culture while rap is just the music part of the overall culture. White people will take over rap but it's not just because of any conspiracy theory, it's also because they're going to change it into something that more people can relate to. The "sex, money and drugs" that we tend to rap about can only appeal but to so many people. Music is suppose to touch you, you're suppose to feel it in your soul, make you think, inspire, console you and uplift and unfortunately we're not making music like that if all we're talking about is sex, money and drugs. I just recently saw Ryan & Macklemore's video Can't Hold Us and these fucking white boys reminded me of what I love about hip hop. The subject matter, musicality, etc is better than 95% of the rap on the radio. Then as I saw more and more of their older videos on topics such as gay marriage, being poor, drug addiction, etc. I saw the future, and unless we start tackling more universal subject matter and also step up the music (live instruments, real choruses, etc.) they will take over hip hop and rightfully so. Rap is music and music is more than just talking the same bullshit, over a computer generated drum loop, with an interesting flow, there has to be substance to the words, it has to move more than just your body, it has to move your soul, make you feel something. So if WE don't use the power we have to make better music somebody else will and we really can't be mad because to a certain extent we let it slip away. But even with that being said, Scarface is still right because the reality is that Ryan & Macklemore are independent artists and if they were black they would have never gotten the exposure they have gotten. There's a lot of incredibly talented black independent artists that will never get write ups in magazines or newspapers or other mainstream media and that's a fact. At the end of the day music is music and we may characterize it and divide it and say this is black music or this is white music but in reality music is just music and no group owns any particular genre but if we want to continue to claim rap as our own we have to make the best possible music that touches, enlightens and uplifts or THEY will.

I see Tech's name and interviews all the damn time...but my only source of news is HipHopDX so I guess I'm biased. Hadn't heard of Macklemore until maybe a month ago, still only heard the one song. He's dead in the middle of his 15 minutes, though, Tech's been building an empire for years. And one of Tech's biggest assets is how "different" he is, no pop hits out of his camp even when they do feature T-Pain or whoever. I'll be interested to see who has the bigger buzz 5 years from now. And honestly, what white hip-hop act besides Eminem (and the Beasties, in their own way) has ever made a serious, long-term splash in hip-hop, ever? Vanilla Ice is a joke so played out it stopped being funny. House of Pain was dope and down with a tight crew, and still couldn't stay relevant for even 3 years. Bubba Sparxxx...I'm surprised I even remember him. Yela and Mac Miller are semi-successful, but can't seem to break past the level they're at for shit. I'm gonna need to see some more hard evidence before I'm convinced the face of hip-hop is no longer black.

    • DJ NITTI

@Assassin221 You're absolutely right, what Tech N9ne has accomplished, independently, is incredible and proves the point exactly. Why is Tech N9ne not on mainstream media? He's obviously been tremendously successful and has a huge following, so where are the magazine covers or articles, radio spins, or TV interviews and performances? If he was white he would definitely be getting a lot more shine. Google Tech N9ne and Ryan & Macklemore and see who's covering them and yet they're both independent and keep in mind Tech N9ne has been doing this for years and all it took Ryan & Macklemore was a couple of years to get mainstream media's attention. All I'm saying is that with all things being equal a white artist, of any genre, will get more exposure than a black one and anyone that doesn't agree is just lying to themselves.

    • Assassin221

Pretty sure Tech N9ne is the most successful independent hip-hop artist...well, ever. Pretty sure Tech N9ne is black. Just saying.

what your just said touched exactly what music should be on. but you got to understand black rappers heavily outweigh white rappers..so if u got awhite rapper than can spit like macklemore than he will get attention..its just when u hear white rappers they got something to say..when u hear black rappers now adays its just trap shit. but kendrick lamar rappers get their due..so hiphop leaning back to good days

  • DJ NITTI

I totally agree with Scarface. To some people Hip Hop is just music but to me it's my culture, I live and breath Hip Hop 24 hours a day. I'm older so I was fortunate enough to have lived through 90's Golden Era with groups like Public Enemy, BDP, Native Tongues, X Clan, Poor Righteous Teachers, just to name a few. This was a time when Hip Hop was becoming a black power movement with the African Medallions and knowledge of self and when the powers that be saw the power Hip Hop had they began to buy up the independent black owned labels and then use them to push the bullshit we're hearing today. Take Public Enemy for example, there's no way that they would get signed today. They were signed by a black man (Russell Simmons) to a black independent label (Def Jam). But once Def Jam was bought up by them everything changed and they started signing only artists glorifying sex, money and drugs. Look at the top selling rappers today, who's not talking sex, money and drugs? Only one comes to mind, Drake. Look at who signed Drake, Young Money which is black owned by Lil Wayne, Baby and Slim. This goes to prove that a rapper who is not only talking about sex, money and drugs can and will sell if he/she is talented enough and promoted properly. You can even use Kanye as another example and notice that he was signed to Rocafella, by Jay Z and Dame Dash. If WE controlled our own culture it would be totally different and these examples prove it but unfortunately these are just two (although among the top earners) of dozens of rappers with the rest all promoting sex, money and drugs. This is no accident, this is by design. I just read an incredibly insightful article, by a rapper named Homeboy Sandman, the breaks down how the powers that be benefit and profit from this plan. Anyone with a passing interest should read it. http://hiphopandpolitics.wordpress.com/2013/04/24/jailhouse-roc-the-facts-about-hip-hop-and-prison-for-profit/

    • Infinite

Speaking on what you said about the "powers that be buying up the independent black owned labels"...you can't really blame the white guys for it when the black guys that owned the labels willingly sold it to them. If this is the angle some want to take with this argument, blacks are just as much at fault as whites with the destruction of hip-hop. i'm not hating on them for taking the money, just stating that if keeping it black was important to them then they shouldn't have sold their companies. money was more important than the culture to them though. honestly though, i think blacks and whites can coexist just fine in hip-hop...it's close-mindedness like Scarface's statements that are fucking it up worse, making it a big racial issue. I mean, the dude contradicted his previous statements. i'm a white guy and i love hip-hop and study it and could talk about it all day, but we gotta all get along. like it or not, white people are a part of hip-hop culture. we are cemented in it just as much as black people. one of the greatest of all time and highest selling artists is white AND he gets respect. but he also stayed true to the game, didn't pimp himself out like these artists today are black OR white. Scarface is making himself part of the problem instead of the solution. let's all be part of the solution. not to be corny but we can stand united or we'll fall divided...

    • steee

this post is pretty dumb. young money is black owned as is arguably the best example you can give of making sex/money/drugs popular. either way... yeah, white executives take advantage of shit and push the garbage that they know will sell. but you put a black executive in the same spot, and theyll do the same thing. unfortunately its the way the world works

White suburban kids love the ignorant stunting rap shit and are the reason why those records go platinum. White suburban kids make up around 3/4ths of Hip Hop/Rap record sales. They consider the lifestyle conveyed in "hood" records to be a spectacle and they are either ridiculing black folks or in awe of them. Black folks see those records going platinum and all of the attention and even worship towards those rappers, and they strive for it. It has been a cycle perpetuated since the dawn of Hip Hop. The dollar has been paramount for a long time. While black folks are blinded from worshipping the dollar, they left the floodgates unattended. There ain't a problem with non-black people getting in on Hip Hop--at least, there shouldn't be. The big disappointment is in the fact that black folks didnt care enough about creating a rock solid structure of checks and balances to maintain integrity in all possible aspects of Hip Hop. If such a system existed, there would be people of all colors getting in on Hip Hop without any bitter or disgruntled significant people from either side. Scarface knows all of this, as it shows in the last sentence of this article, but he let his emotions get the best of him at the the start of his statement.

  • Doubl Negative

Scarface's comments may not please the PC, but I'm in total agreement with him. Sure, there are many fine white hip-hop artists, but the scene is now aimed at outsiders who don't fully understand or appreciate our culture. There are many things I would like to divulge on this intriguing topic, but the issue of race is a contentious one and there are no winners because we all view the world through our insular, subjective prism, so everyone thinks their argument is the correct one fails to acknowledge any merrit in their opposing candidate. The only thing I find staggering is how many responses this story has generated. Most hot topics on DX reach triple figures, but the huge numbers here is unprecedented. It leads me to believe the vast majority of people posting here are not regular contributors and surf the net looking for stories such as this one so they can vent their venomous frustrations on Black people, and feel better after spewing bile. I understand what Face is saying. The overall root cause is the fact we never owned our culture. We gave that to the corporations & record labels who were willing to pay the $, but the catch 22 was the control of the gimmick. It's been going for over 20 years, but just like a disease, it just manifests over time. In the current time, I can't even be mad at the white exec's...it's the dumb ass black folks who continue to allow the communities to make a mockery & disgrace of itself. • Prestige

You have to consider the context of his comments. Yes, Face is trying to get under the skin of the Major Label Executives, who are admittedly overwhelmingly older white men, but he is primarily voicing his concerns to the Black Community. This here is barbershop talk. But, his comments are a bit strident, and definitely offensive to non-black hiphop fans and non-black rappers. But importantly, I do not think Scarface is racist, and I do not think he "dislikes" white rappers and is against white rappers. Claiming that his comments are fueled purely by racism is dismissive. Perhaps he has his commentary is both timely and poignant, although a bit tone deaf. He mentions a possible conspiracy to eventually produce a white-washing of rap the likes of which have already occurred in older genres such as Jazz, The Blues, Rock Music, and I think that's it. Is this point deniable? If you think this did not occur then we can't begin to have a discussion about the matter. I believe it did happen. But an important question becomes: was this transformation a "bad" thing or a "good" thing? I say both. But first, many black artists, in the post-integration era of each genre were marginalized (less business opportunities and exposure) due to the tendency for white artists to be more prone to mainstream acceptance. This is bad. I think that if the same were to happen with rap, as is the "emerging trend", eventually many up-and-coming and current black rappers would lose leverage and marketability and eventually be marginalized. Now there are a lot of caveats, one being the fact that America is more diverse now. And a more diverse populous, or group of consumers, should yearn for diverse market of hip-hop artists. Although, when looking at recent album sales, those consumers who purchase albums tend to be consuming those of white artists more than black artists at the moments (e.g., Eminem, Justin Timberlake, Macklemore, Mac Miller) with the exception of Kendrick Lamar. Perhaps this is because the market of black hip-hop artist is a little suspect, meaning they lack quality (i.e., they are garbage). As Scarface cynically pointed out, perhaps the music executives are intentionally watering down, and dumbing down, the market of black hip-hop artists, so that hip-hop fans will eventually have to be forced to choose between black-artists who are a mockery of the artform, or white artists with substance and skill. Again, I don't think we have reached this junction yet, but I think with the emergence of artists like Gucci Mane (sorry Gucci); Chief Keef (sorry Keef); Trinidad James (although I think he's fooled executives into thinking he's less informed than he is); and a slew of other "main stream" rappers, this trend is slowly taking shape. This could evolve into a discussion about whether the Music Industry Executives are "taste makers" or "appetite appeasers". I think the former, but I digress. In short, I think Scarface raises a valid point, that should be a wake up call to the black community, and not be perceived as an assaut on those hip-hop fans and artists of different backgrounds. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the black community to stand up, develop their own record labels and means of music distribution, so that they control the quality of their portion of hip-hop music and also determine their future role in hip-hop. We need more TDE's. Moreover, the black community needs to support real, organic, hip-hop because at some level we the consumers determine what flies or dies in any music industry.

I'm still not cool with how he expresses himself but I do appreciate your in-depth analysis. Now it's obvious with rock & roll, but with jazz and blues, to what extent were those really white-washed? I know they became a lot more integrated, but if someone says "blues musician" or "jazz musician," the first thing that pops into my mind will be a black face. I guess I'm a little biased myself, because when I go to the library to pick up jazz and blues CDs to rip, I automatically gravitate toward the ones with black people on the cover. Of course I've grown up in a more racially conscious generation, so maybe that wasn't the case 50 years ago. But just to start the conversation from the beginning, when people say "We don't want hip-hop to go out like jazz and blues," how do they mean jazz and blues went out? From my perspective, those genres seem like success stories in having invited talented musicians of all colors without losing their racial identities. Anyway, it seems unlikely to me that that could happen to hip-hop because the culture as a whole is so conscious and so overt about it's racial identity. Even white dudes who get in have to show respect for that fact, hence dudes like Brother Ali that are more pro-black than most black rappers. Like you said, it's a more diverse generation than in the past and, for better or for worse, people are more sensitive to racial issues. I would bet most white hip-hop fans appreciate the fact that it's primarily black music, in fact that's part of it's appeal, and record execs are no doubt aware of that, too. Lastly, I don't believe in letting the consumer off the hook for their own choices. If everybody in the hood is copping Jeezy, then goddamn it, it means they want to hear Jeezy. I don't understand it, he has no appeal for me personally, but I don't buy any conspiratorial brainwashing shit. No billionaire Jewish executive created a Waka Flocka Flame, nobody could make that shit up. If these dudes want OUR money and don't care how they get it, WE'RE responsible for what we choose to spend money on.

"what does kendrick have to do with mac miller being terrible? and can you honestly say lil B attracting fans (he does have some) is good for hip hop?" You retards always get things backwards. Mac Miller is good for hip hop because he knows how to generate hype. That same hype is also good for Kendrick Lamar. Lil B has to release an album and show he has a career first before he can be considered good for hip hop. Posted13 hours ago

Scarface is absolutley correct. If there was no market for Rick Ross, 2Chainz, Trinidad James, they wouldn't exist. Rappers become rappers to make money. There is a certain type of music that is broadcast on the radio and it ain't Talib Kweli or Dead Prez. There is a profit margin associated with keeping a certain type of rap popular. Consumerism at its best. Girls spending their rent money on Michael Kor's purses, the brokest of broke brothers trying to find a way to get a Bentley. The clothes, the shoes, the false image that someone working 9 to 5 couldn't possibly afford. Do you really think the record companies want you listening to Dead Prez telling you to eat healthy, stay away from drugs and educate your kids? There's no money in that.

@proud - stop with the excuses. Yes we all know that this happened in our history and how our culture was taken away from us, however stop with the blaming 'white man' crap. This is 2013 and as an individual and as a community you/we have the power to make decisions and raise our own standards. You mentioned 'the hood landed on us' - does that mean everytime I go through certain parts of Brooklyn/Chicago/Philly/Baltimore/DC/Detroit etc and see the living conditions it's all the 'white man's fault'? We as the people who live in those communities also need to take responsibility - why is it everytime I go through those neighborhoods I see trash, graffitti,RIP tags, gang tage etc? Why don't we as black people living there begin by keeping them clean, sweeping the streets, having community watches for crime etc and taking pride in where we live as opposed to going on youtube/worldstar etc and arguing with each other about which city/neighborhood is more 'real'. I can gurantee that the majority of black youth today would quicker go to a Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Jeezy show than go to Malcolm X remeberance day or even something to do with education even if its free! My last point (not to put you down) but look @ some of the grammar and spelling in your post. You expect to get a high quality job with grammar like that? But then you'll blame the white man that you can't get a job. Improvement starts when you/we raise our standards and become interdependent as a community as opposed to the dependent state that we've been in for generations. Bless.

    • stop it

unless your 60 years old you didnt suffer shit.. shut up

rick ross- black, 2chainz- black, gucci mane- black, cheif keef- black, lil wayne- black, meek mill- black any other dumb fuck from the south who raps like an idiot- black get the trend? black ppl make stupid music and get mad when white ppl push it and get the young black kid money?.. stop making stupid fuckin music if you dont want it out there???

    • try again

you feel me though? its like black folks can go anywhere in the world they want but fuck themselves out of an education and a job and blame other people instead of themselves for fuckin their own free lives up! ..crazy ness

    • OhMy

GREAT POINT ^^^^^^ you obiously know whats goin on,im sick of hearing b.s. rom these mental slaves..EQUALITY FOR EVERYONE OR LET THE WORLD DIE IN FLAMES!!!

    • try again

black people AND white people under like 20 both want trap music and like trap music..its a generation thing more than a race thing

    • crystal

Wrong! Those people make that kind of garbage music because there's a market for it. If no one bought 2Chainz, Rick Ross, etc type music, they would cease to record it. So you have to wonder why is there such a market for it? Who's pushing that as opposed to pushing rappers like Dead Prez?

  • What a racist, scarface is

Now I am all for good conspiracy theories... but this is just absurd. Record companies have always been run by whites or jews from the start of hip hop! Even pro black, 5 percenter, nuwaubian type anti-white rap has been on labels owned by whites or jews... hey scarface thanks for mentioning the obvious! Blame the dumbing down of americans in general for the garbage that is out today. Americans on the whole will never, ever be conscious enough to make a ras kass or non phixion album go platinum. All I see here is very simple minded people squabbling over little petty stuff. Blah blah, racism, blah blah. Why blame the record execs when you can blame the consumer, the masses, the dumb, deaf and blind? Its up to you to know the ledge.

  • rulism

"Hip Hop Is Ja Rule Now" .

  • wheretherealat

he bringing up "culture" and we on a hip hop site, SUPPOSEDLY. why no one talking about what's going on in places like chicago right now? rappers have nothing to say about that culture? nah, but go on and post another skit related to chief keef-whatever...

  • Anonymous

while i do somehwat agree with him but theres more to it than that. u can argue that white ppl control the record labels and radio stations which brainwashed ppl with watered down hiphop. at the end of the day though part of it is choice to listen and support. there are plenty of black djs and execs who promote the same knowingly.

    • @also

yea true forgot about the rappers basically everybody in the industry gotta take responisbility

    • also

and another part of it is actually making the lyrics and music. white ppl have 0 part in making todays trap music unless your MGK but hes not rly trap

  • Mix Bus Rus

At the end of the day the Hip Hop That I grew up Loving is slowly fading out of site. It once was a colossal industry where you had to have props to call your shit Hip Hop, now it is populated with crap loops (cos they never full songs!!) Talking about how they made it. Scarface is right it is run by old white dudes that are diluting the business.

  • uhh

didnt this nigga come up off gangsta rap? last i checked niggas still made drug dealin music its just trap now and not conscience? the lrics havnt changed its just dumber now. idk wtf scarface is on but young money gets run by black people and you still get SHIT like weezy and meek songs

  • Anonymous

Im disappointed in all the hatred and racism on this site. this is supposed to be hip hop, so because Scarface wants black people to do better he is "victimizing" them? Because he said the word "white" all u vultures want to come out of the wood works and trash black people? Most of the stereotypes u guys are even presenting are the ones that mainstream hip hop force feeds us so is Scarface really so far off? Do you think that the damage caused by slavery/ Jim crow/ cointelpro/crack/ the prison industrial complex goes away because some rappers got rich? Black people were promised 40 acres and a mule for slavery and received nothing. Jews never shut up about the holocaust, but they got isreal right? Coming down on the black for a situation that they have been thrust into is just wrong, even when you observe negativity in the culture it would benefit you to pay attention to all the contributing factors.

    • stop it

you can blame whites, my point is WE DONT CARE! lol you dont understand, white ppl dont give any fuck about what a black person does with their life or says against us. blame rich white ppl or not we get money n focus on ourselves and ourselves only. and you dont need to care what i just said, its all the truth whether you take the advice given or not is up to your dumb uneducated ass.

    • Anonymous

I'm sorry that you are white and will never be able to understand this, but, we as black people do not care about what you just said whatsoever. If something goes wrong, or we're not happy, we blame whites. If you have a problem with it... .well, too bad. thank you for your time. Please go to work and give the government some money for me. thanks again.

    • not even

to bring it up on rememberence is one thing, but to consistantly use it in this time an age against the other race is crazy, esp when your 40-50 and younger and never even prob experienced real racism. its 2013 if your not like 40-50 and older you didnt grow up needing to use a different bathroom, or restraunt aka real sl racism.. 10s n 10s of years ago? slavery ended in 1863? so unless your 150 years old you dont know what real racism is like from not using bathrooms and restraunts the same to real police harassment, to water hoses and bad holmes. and if your under 30 you should never be able 2 use the word slavery in defending yourself.

    • Anonymous

to not even ^^ I apologize for my initial post. I was mad and we as a black people have one option when things don't go our way and that is to blame whites. While I still believe it, I shouldn't have posted it that way because racism that existed was ended by the time most of us were born. We shouldn't be bringing something that ended tens and tens of years ago up still.

    • not even

not even that..its just white people are tired of hearin about black ppl holdin themselves back then when they realize it try and make it seeem like its white peoples faults..instead of takin responsibility? whats scarface gonna do about this? nothing hell just blame white people instead of the hoods and people who actually make this music..black ppl. white ppl just listen we dont tell black ppl(some) 2 rap like retarded 5th graders

  • Curufinwe

Scarface is just mad because his album don't sell. Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Kayne west, even Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj are selling a lot of album. Hip Hop is not about race but about quality. Your golden Age is gone. Or you renew yourself and get better, or you just quit. In any case stop b*** around.

    • OHMY

Nas? wayne acts white hes a skateboarder now.. nikki wants to be a barbie..ross and kendrick are puppets to much crooked shit goin on to explain, people of all races are mental slaves..YOUR FAVORITE WHITE RAPPER,OHMY

  • OHMY

As a white rapper myself i would say he makes a VALID point..if you really think about it dont whites/jews also run the country? im for all races and cultures and what he said made ALOT of sense..him speaking out against them makes him a very strong person..noone else would because they'd be jobless..theres alot of crooked shit goin on in the industry if only we had an MLK president instead of an Obama.someone whos for ALL of us and isnt just looking out for there self.

One nigga out of a hundred gets out of the hood without being a rapper or ball player; that's not equality by any standars. Be black for at least a day and then you'll know why they complain. But by saying that gives people the right to be racist towards me, you're being racist yourself. Such a pity. My mother was shot when I was 4 years old. But good crack at a hood joke. you tried. • John-Boy

You just took ten minutes out of your life to post a bunch of racist sterotypes about blacks and then ended it by saying "WHITE PEOPLE DONT GIVE A FUCK WHAT YOU DO!" Well obviously yo silly ass do give a fuck. Why else would you respond??

It isn't going white necessarily, and no rascism but there are many hood rats that listen to trap (Chief Keef ect) and YMCMB, as well as wiggas that do rap is weaker now, but there is some good stuff, at least there are more versatile, more breeds and ground breaking artists

  • DRE COOLEY AKA LUVLESS

IT'S A DAMN SHAME HE RIGHT

  • John-Boy

White people couldn't stand half the discrimination that blacks face everyday. That whole racism is dead thing is one of the biggest insults that racist people are putting in peoples minds. Even though there is blatant racism everywhere you look, more and more whites are saying that only blacks are racist. LMAO!! The very concept is utter retardation. To the whites, whens the last time you were walking down the street and the next thing you know some cop pulls up, throws you on the hood of a car and unreasonably searches for no reason while blowing cigarette smoke in your face??? Oh, thats never happened to you??? Funny, it happens innocent black youth DAILY! But the blacks are the bigots right?

    • John-Boy

Thank you for the congratulations. It's not everyone's country FYI, it's blacks. I did spend that 200 dollars but not evenly. My food stamps cover my food so I didn't need to use it there. I spent 128 dollars on baking soda. 9 dollars on spoons. 45 on crockpots. 7 on electricity, and 14 on baggies. But I'm gonna get it eventually.

70% if blacks are in jail bec 65% of them do shit to be deserve a jail cell..(5% bec im sure some people are in jail on bs) congrats you live off white taxpayers..and black, and asian, and hispanic.. as black ppl love to say this isnt just a white country its everyones.. hope you spend that 200 dollars evenly?

    • Jonh-Boy

Over 50% of the male population is white. Over 70% of the male population incarcerated are black. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. it's because they always are NOT arrested or caught with ANYTHING. OH well, whether we in jail or on the street, we still living off the white taxpayers. We winnin up in here

    • John-Boy

In all honesty though, I am also validating what they are saying. Funny how the world works. Racism only exists towards blacks. We all voted for Obama because we like his policies and his outlook on the economy. ** correction to that last 2 sentences, I was looking at the stats of them white folks, not us blacks. oops.

    • John-Boy

Ahhh. The people responding to my original comment are completely validating it. 'LOL' says the only blacks harassed are doing something stupid. This is once again sterotypical racism saying that all blacks are doing something stupid and racist cops are not the problem. Statistics already show that most victims of Stop and Frisk are NOT arrested or caught with ANYTHING. Go ahead and check the stats.

    • John-Boy

My comment is not what made me assume I was black. It was the way I only speak negatively about whites. @LOL - nicely played! I hate it when other people are right but at least I respect you for telling the truth :)

    • lol

@johnboy- if you walk down the street n cops stop you like that either 1) you got the most racist cops in all of america or 2) you consistantly do stupid shit with friends, get introuble and cops know you now so you get fucked with (ill go with 2) lesson- stop doing dumb shit and you wont get 'harassed' by the cops

    • John-Boy

Thank you for proving my point. Your comment assumes I am black and then immediately sterotypes me as a crackhead and a welfare recipient because I am black. Thanks for putting the racist white mindset on display for everyone to see.

    • John-boy

Sorry about that last post but I've been up on crack for days. I used the last of my welfare check to purchase it but let me say that it is worth it. Back to my previous post: I meant to say while there is racism everywhere, blacks are just as if not more racist than whites. Not ONLY whites are racist. Thank you.

Why are black people so racist?

    • K E

^^ I apologize for my idiotic comment. I wasn't thinking straight when I typed that last one

    • K E

Scarface was highly praising Rick Rubin in his other video from the same interview. Rubin is a JEWISH music producer so stfu. People like you just jump to such idiotic conclusions with as soon as you hear race involved.

    • anon

because its advantageous for them to victimize themselves

  • Anonymous

Its just funny that you can make a statement like that and everyone agrees..but if anyone were to say that urban music is pushed on white youth they would be called racist.

    • Jroc612

^^ ya you right but dude make a point. that's all we do.

    • Anonymous

I think you will find that whenever a democrat is up for election their is a strong bias amongst minorities to vote for a democrat rather than a republican and it has been that way since Kennedy . And i think the same would hold true in rural America for a white republican . To be honest i don't really see what your above argument has to do with anything ... Anyway the next American president will be Latin

    • Good Point, However...

You're 110% correct, but remember what audience you're commenting amongst. For example... Think of the last 2 presidential elections. Nobody knows how much Obama is destroying good things we have here in America. They had a larger black voting than ever in history, simply because the president was black. Nothing more, nothing less. And to black people, or should I say the majority of, color of skin is ALL that matters. It's sad, but true. If you're going to argue against a point a black makes it's better do it somewhere/somesite where people have an open mind. Everyone hear is set on their beliefs/ways and debating does nothing other than entrench them deeper in that belief.

    • Anonymous

It's mainly white youth with the stronger buying power . I.E suburban white youths are more likely to purchase music and it's been that way for a long time . I get the feeling you didn't even listen to his interview you just got suckered in by the main article headline ( That my friend is called marketing ) And if you had listened to the interview you would have realized that is what is wrong with current hip hop it's all marketing gimmicks with no real substance

    • clevelandchief

You idiot, it is and always has been pushed on white youth, haha... The moms in the 80's and early 90's were against that shit but it just made headlines for groups like 2 live crew and sold more records.

  • Truth B Told

Wow you white hip hop listeners are really oversensitive i thought it would be a good thing to have less of the 2chainz,Gucci Mane,French Montana(his not french) etc Why are white guys posting things like Eminem is dope Ra the rugged man is dope .. Of course they are their hip hop .. But the people in control of what makes a successful artist is blatantly being more and more dictated by middle aged white guys pushing their 60s and 70 s . And you say black people are oversensitive about race

    • Anonymous

Jerry , that argument holds little weight it's not social media that has hurt the industry if anything that has made it a little better as at least we don't have to only rely on the record stations force feeding us garbage all the time . We can now find artists with a little digging around ourselves . Don't full for the myth that Trinidad James,Gucci,Ross only got big once they hit the social media radar . They fit in nice and snugly with certain peoples marketing plans

    • jerryc

But those record execs have been there for a long long time. I think social media and youtube have hurt the industry because it opens doors for songs like soulja boy-superman to become huge and then soulja boy receives a big deal. People arent signed from fuckin battle raps anymore, where the top lyricists get deals. Now the labels can sign guys that already have a ton of fans worldwide, and they just distribute it. Blame people and social media for not flocking to the good shit.

  • laughin

white folk been doing this shit for years, They did it to blues, they did it to Mo Town, they did it to the rock and roll and now they are doing it to HipHop. Dont worry, HipHop has changed believe it or not and the only ones still listening to that bullshit are the same ones making it. lol

  • jerryc

lets be real: there are many more white people in this country than blacks. As I said earlier, it was only cool to listen to Eminem before(when rap was good), and every other white rapper was corny. There were always talented white guys who could rhyme, but could they make a complete cd? Ive slowly watched others around me start to like guys like Wiz Khalifa, CHief Keef, and Rick Ross. People like whatever is pushed on you, and also now, they like whatever is TRENDING. Its all about social media building your buzz. Talent DOES NOT REIGN SUPREME anymore.

  • Anonymous

how is what face is saying racist when it's the truth. remember he is not going at any white rappers. the truth is that hip hop is owned by whites who have no idea (mostly) about the culture. "anytime we mention our condition, history or existence, they calling it reverse racism.." nas face has been around the block for a minute and seen it all and was just commenting. no racism here, just the truth. so fuck off with all the racist talk!!

  • Truth B Told

White people shooting down scarface and acting overly sensitive because he stated the fucking obvious . Hip Hop is run by 50/60 yr old white men . The agenda is not about the musical integrity it is about the stocks and shares . A large majority of the hip hop music out makes Black people look like dumb buffoons . What part of what he said is untrue

  • Anonymous

why does it always have to be about race? but if he wants to talk about race blame black people. there the ones that decided to record hip hop in the first place. the moment rapper's delight was recorded thats when hip hop REALLY went mainstream because hip hop before that was against the mainstream and really about the CULTURE. it went from being only popular in the south bronx to becoming worldwide. it was about the block parties, djing, mcing, breakdancing and graffiti, NOT about recording. it was their own thing and wasn't controlled by record execs or "white people".

    • Anonymous

no not at all. i was just being technical to what scarface was saying in the video.

I heard that the hip hop comminity wasn't happy about Rapper's Delight becuase it wasn't raw but what would you have suggested, that the rappers never recorded and stayed poor?

  • Life in the Movies

Well I feel its all about the money and the tops try to sell to the majority. Also Scarface did the same thing as soon as he put his name on paper and took 500k to sign to a major label. Its all about the green, and now he is hating on someone one who is about the money. A little hypocritical I think. All in all i do hate pop hop and the way things are turning but music flows with what the majority of fans are liking. If you hate it then just listen to the dope mc's who haven't went with the flow of evolution and remained true Hip Hop, like those on independent labels and self owned or underground

  • joedoeski

Rock N Roll, Jazz and now hip hop, you only need to look at the history of black music to understand how hip hop got co-opted by corporate and mainstream America. Hip Hop use to be the voice of revolution, now its straight unintellectual, garbage, passive and a minstrel show. As soon as the mainstream touches anything they take all of the soul out of it.

  • former Facefan

Face you fcking hypocrite. You just did a song with corny popstar Beyonce. Shows you do corny shit for money too.

  • Nemo_Felissimo

'Face if that is how you feel, fine. We're all entitled to our options. However, not all of us are in the position that you're in. You're a legend in this game. People have mad respect for you and what you do. You could release a mixtape expressing your options. You talk about the craft and how you don't want other people to dictate what we hear, yet you can't release a fucking album. Why is that? Because you feel people don't want to hear you? BULLSHIT! It's because the "white man" won't cut you the check you feel you rightfully deserve. So it's not about your fans or the culture. If it was you would bless us, your fans, with a tape. Look at E40. Look how much music this man releases. The Jews can't stop him. But shit, lets face it- it has ALWAYS been the jews that have owned these major labels. So fuck all has changed. You sound angry because you feel you're not relevant anymore. If you were to release records like 40 you could tour every year. But no. Fuck up and stop your bitching. Make music and let it speak for itself.

This isn't new. Hip Hop flipped white when white women figured out they can dance to it. You will never see white women get up and dance to 36 Chambers. • sam snead

the problem is that it became to superficial and pop over time, I think it has got better the last couple years because from 04-2010 it was even worse. You got dumb white and black rappers, I think the black ones are even worse because I hear them on the radio when I turn it on, gucci,waka,2 chains. Drake isn't horrible but I turned on the radio and he was on damn near every song,It's all fashion, bravado and girls. On the other side it's all drug sales and being hard.

Yes we control what you buffoons listen too . Deal with it it's all about the balance sheet and dividends . If the kids want Mr Ross,Mr T James etc that's what we will give them . We have been working very successfully with the backing of prison share holders since the mid 90s and they agree we are doing a mighty fine job thank you very much . If you want uplifting/positive rap music then i am afraid you will need to dig for it yourself as that does not fit in with ours and our partners business model .

I totally agree with Face. I can't beleive the shit I go through living in LA and I know what I see on world news going on in Chicago and shit like Mac Miller, and Mackelmore is getting spins and selling like hot cakes? Even more disturbing record companies would rather promote a TV sitcom star from Canada talking about how he "Started From The Bottom" then to promote anything talking about the problem or solution or even telling their story. The closest we come to the story being told is 50 Cent or Jeezy. Both of whom most of the time they drop something new critics say its wack or cliche and has been done before. The problem still exist!!!!!!!! Right on Face! In the words of Ice Cube, "pretty soon hip hop won't be so nice, no Ice Cube just Vanilla Ice".
