"Nas's album has been out for only a month, It will sell more than Tyga in the long run" You sound emotional Dan. I understand Nas is your reason for living, but numbers don't lie, and right now Tyga is beating him. Who cares about the long run? Nobody will even be tracking the long run, so all people have to go on are today's facts.

  • Fuck Shady

HAHAHAHAHAHA Slaughterhouse is expected to sell 60,000 copies LMAO them niggas'll flop

No way Tyga sold 62,000 last week lol Maybe 62 copies. That's totally plausible.

"In other words, an artist can go gold and still make over $3 million dollars from other income from their brand" But most aren't going gold, or seeing millions of dollars. It's not just the labels' fault. Most of these rappers get one advance and think by next week they'll be in Oprah's tax bracket. Little do they know that in order to truly see and earn "millions", you need drive, motivation and oh talent.

  • Fuck Atlanta

2 Chainz is a corny name, he should change it back to Titty Nigga, that would help him sell more units.

  • Donald Passman

This is a new day an age, where album sales don't determine your income potential. Back in the cassette days, there were not as many avenues, to profit off of a particular brand. In other words, an artist can go gold and still make over $3 million dollars from other income from their brand.

    • Anonymous

Thank you; somebody knows what the fuck is going on...

    • Anonymous

i love these smart stupid mother fuckers artist always had other venues to make money and the major label knew this thats when the 360 deal became a factor labels was getting tired of of artist albums not moving units but the artist cab go on tour and the label would not see a dime now the label own your name also look at young buck the is took his stage name because he was on a 360 he sold his soul now he cant perform as young buck i can be the new young buck ahah

SO DID KALED SHIP 40K OR SELL 40K ? HAHAH

  • AJ

I never comment but most of the people on this site are dumbass trolls. Nas is doing great for someone who has been in the game for 20 years and he should go gold by the end of the year.Wale is already gold for SHIPPING 500k copies not selling. Rick Ross is so overrated it's not even funny, another album that will barely go gold Jeezy clearly won that beef.DJ Khaled is like Flo Rida, his albums flop but his singles cancel that out. Frank Ocean is doing great numbers but he had to stir controversy to do it. Overall Hip Hop and R&B albums aren't selling well at all... the internet fucked everything up.

  • jr88

i think hip hop or what i call commercial hiphop is having a slow death... look at all these rappers selling almost nothing! people are listening but not buying! sooner or later someone at universal is gonna say "why the hell are we giving khaled an album budget when he only has one or two hit singles" i think single deals are gonna be the new normal...instead of albums its just gonna be singles!!! mark my words!!! and that will be the nail in the coffin for commercial hip hop... i hope it happens because hip hop can go back to the underground where it belongs!!!!

"slaughterhouse projections came in at 50-60 k, but still on pace to be the number 1 album" When you delay the album like they did, then first week sales are going to look like that. I don't care whose co-signing you.

    • epitome1986

i actually thought thats what they were going to do regardless of promotion, its just not a massively accepted style at the moment. but i red some articles where paul rosenberg was saying they didn't spend much money on promoting and marketing because they knew the market wasn't too big, so they were aiming for 150,000-200,000 total sales of the album, then try to expand from there. 60k first week will get close to 150,000 total sales.

  • Anonymous

"THEY LOSE MONEY when you consider how much a major label spends on video, marketing & promotion and for all those features" It's actually quite the opposite. Almost every album spawns 1 hit single that basically ensures the next album. Plus, all the rappers in his videos probably do that shit for next to nothing (with a back end % of course) I'm On One - 3 million All I Do Is Win - 2 million I'm So Hood 1 million We Takin Over - 500,000

  • Anonymous

"Tyga's album came out long before Nas' did" Excuses. Excuses.

    • Dan

It aint excuses faggot it's the truth. Nas's album has been out for only a month, It will sell more than Tyga in the long run dumbfuck.

  • epitome1986

well, slaughterhouse projections came in at 50-60 k, but still on pace to be the number 1 album. hahah, times are tough! hopefully they exceed those projections and hit at least 70k because 60k for a number 1 album?!

  • Anonymous

people keep sayin it and they're right. HHDX needs some better editors. Tyga sold 62,000 copies of Careless World this past week? how come no one caught that typo and changed it to 6,200?

  • Anonymous

Looks like Khaled and Ross are finally enjoying some success. LOL at Tyga selling more than Nas.

    • Anonymous

Tyga's album came out long before Nas' did. Nas is less than 20,000 units behind Tyga, it's only a matter of time before his total sales catch up to and then surpass Tyga's.

  • Anonymous

KHALED HAS OVER 12 MILLION SINGLES SOLD SO I GUESS HE GOOD..RIGHT?

  • money lost on khaled??

not necessarily. as an indie he's sold a good amount of records, definetly made off of that, i think everyone can agree, but i dont know what kind of deal khaled has with cash money, there is a certain kind of deal called a co-venture, where a label gives an artist more money for their record in exchange for getting money in areas they otherwise wouldnt get paid for (touring, merchandising, advertising, etc.) so tho it may be true he doesnt sell alot, unless you know for certain what kind of deal he has with his label, you cant really say if the label is losing money, but it is a business, and i dont think theyd release albums from him, knowing his numbers, if they didnt think theyd make money... *not a khaled fan..

  • 9 to 5 is modern day slavery

Why buying somethin' what u can get for free. Spend money wisely, buy some weed or meth and enjoy life.

  • Anonymous

Those Ross numbers are so ugly. Fake buzz and fake rapper. 2 Chainz is actually doing really well for his standards tho, he shouldn't be selling that much. 48k in his second week is crazy.

  • I'm Finna Fuck My Girlfriend Tonight

LMAO these niggas ain't selling shit I mean look at 2 Chainz numbers dude had the buzz of a superstar and still wasn't able to go gold LOL

  • Yamz

I thought Wale went gold weeks ago? WTF

  • EMINEM IS THE BEST

lol. Ross. What kind of "boss" doesn't have a platinum plaque? lol. Frank's Ocean thought "coming out" would get him a gold plaque and he failed. lol. Didn't ambition come out last year and it's not gold yet? lol. DJ Khalil album flop. lol. Trey & 2 Chainz will be gold when Detox drops. lol. Nas work with Tyga to get more sales and they both flop. lol. Face it. Nobody is selling Eminem numbers and that's why he's the best ever. It's a fact that numbers don't lie. Recovery is 4x platinum, and yall are lucky he isn't black, otherwise it would be 8x platinum. Slaughterhouse - WELCOME TO: OUR HOUSE - GOLD first week, watch. #EminemGOAT #Shady #HouseGang

Immortal Technique will never be better than Eminem, because he'll never see the same success or help hip-hop make the same progress as big-selling rock and pop acts. You can't bound yourself to petty rules and regulations. You need to help hip-hop progress into a more commercially viable medium, and Immortal technique isn't going to do that.

    • 5 Reasons Why Immortal Technique Is Better Than Eminem

He doesn't use shock value He doesn't make music for rich white people He relies solely on skill He is independent He is black, plus, from South America.

there was an article on here a bit ago saying Ambition went Gold but now you only have it listed as 450,000? 41k is a flop for Khaled. Big KRIT and Curren$y posted the same first week numbers, and do you know how many more people know and have heard of DJ Khaled the dude's been a main personality in rap/hip-hop since like 2006, so 41k first week numbers for him is a flop.

    • Anonymous

tru not hating on his singles, though the song you mentioned sucked, but his album still flopped

  • YEBO

NOW EVERYBODY WILL COME HERE SAYING THAT DJ KHALED FLOPPED, BUT THE NEXT WEEK SLAUGHTERHOUSE WILL DO THE SAME NUMBERS (IF NOT LESS) AND EVERYBODY WILL DICKRIDE THEIR STUPID FACES AGAIN THINKING IT IS SUCCESS, LOL AND I EXPECTED DJ KHALED TO SELL 40-50K, LOOK AT HIS PREVIOUS WORK, HE NEVER HAD BIG OPENING WEEK, SO IT'S TECHNICALLY NOT A FLOP, BECAUSE NOBODY EXPECTS HIM TO SELL 200K IN HIS FIRST WEEK KISS THE RING IS VERY GOOD ALBUM, DJ KHALED IS SEXY AND HAS SUCH A NICE AND UNIQUE VOICE, BUT I DON'T SEE POINT IN BUYING IT, WHEN I WANT TO HEAR SOME KRIT, WAYNE, ROSS OR 2 CHAINZ SONGS, I RATHER BUY THEIR OWN ALBUMS, SINCE ON KISS THE RING THERE ARE SOME STUPID ASS SONGS, FOR EXAMPLE SUICIDAL THOUGHTS, KENDRICK'S VERSE ON THEY READY, HIP HOP (I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH NAS HOPING ON THAT TRACK), ETC. AND REMEMBER, SLAUGHTERHOUSE WILL NEVER SEE ANYTHING CLOSE TO NUMBER ONE SPOT, I'M SORRY, BUT THAT'S THE TRUTH AND TRUHT HURTS SOMETIMES
