B.G. Releases Statement Regarding 14-Year Prison Sentence: "I Am Relieved"

After receiving a 14-year prison sentence, B.G. is looking on the bright side.

Many people in former Hot Boy B.G.'s situation would not feel optimistic, as the rapper recently received a 14-year prison sentence for gun possession and witness tampering.

In a statement released to TMZ, the New Orleans emcee pointed out the the results could have been significantly worse. "I am relieved I found out what my fate was yesterday because I was facing 30 years and my case kept getting pushed back."

In addition to finding solace in finally knowing his fate, B.G. was encouraged by the proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel."

"I am just ready to get my sentence started because it’s not RIP BG it’s FREE BG," read the statement. "I feel happy and blessed that I will still be a young man and still be able to see daylight because I am someone, a dad, a brother and a son."

B.G. added that he "will have upcoming music that will be released while I am away."

Earlier this week, it was announced that B.G. was headed to federal prison for nearly a decade-and-a-half, a sentence stemming from a 2009 traffic stop. B.G. pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, and obstructed justice by convincing an associate to claim ownership of the gun.

being relieved at 14 years vs. 30 years is one thing-- but damn. Did it have to be that the brother was driving "dirty" to begin with? Felony status dudes should know better, whether it was a "Driving while black" incident or not. BE CAREFUL!! if you "need protection" that bad, you have options- 1. get out of the music business; 2. hire professional security, fully licensed to carry. 3. move to an entirely different community, especially if "the block is too hot." So many dudes are gassed on this outlaw-status swagger from being rappers (and whatever tacit connection they may have had to the "street world" before their big break, NONE of these folks were anywhere near being a major drug/gang/crime/pimp figure in their home community), some really do see themselves as some kind of elevated Mob figures, "untouchable". not the case here. However many kids he has, they won't get to fully interact with their dad in a normal fashion for nearly 15 years. That's not a good look. I guess X-Raided (and 2pac) alraedy proved that it's possible to maintain a career while in prison, but damn, should it even get to that level, if at all possible?

"I am relieved I found out what my fate was yesterday because I was facing 30 years" Maybe he'll meet Morgan Freeman in prison, and plan an escape. Either that or he'll read a bunch of books, get out and want to debate Lil Wayne on the meaning of life.
