This week, Meek Mill put the Rap game in a chokehold, releasing his new mixtape Dreamchasers 2 and effectively sending the Internet into overdrive. On top of that, the Maybach Music Group rapper signed a deal with Roc Nation management. Meanwhile, Black Hippy's Ab-Soul delivered his new album Control System, a project that's been in the works for a little less than a year. Finally, Christian rapper Lecrae spoke exclusively with HipHopDX about the concept behind his new mixtape Church Clothes and his spiritual advisor role for No Malice.

Meek Mill Releases Dreamchasers 2, Signs To Roc Nation Management

This week, Meek Mill made some of the biggest moves of his career. The Maybach Music Group artist dropped his latest mixtape Dreamchasers 2, which features guest appearances from Drake, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, Wale and, of course, Rick Ross. Upon its release, the tape essentially broke the Internet, sending DatPiff.com’s servers into overdrive. The tape’s release preceded an even bigger announcement for the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania rapper. Not only is he aligned with Ross, but he’s now in business with Jay-Z as Roc Nation management’s latest signee.

Ab-Soul Drops Control System Album

Black Hippy member Ab-Soul dropped off his latest project this week, Control System, showcasing his lyrical growth since the release of LongTerm Mentality. The project, dedicated to the late Alori Joh, features guest appearances from Jay RockDanny Brown, ScHoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar and a handful of others, as well as the Black Hippy remix of “Black Lip Bastard.” The TDE artist, who is currently on tour with ScHoolboy Q, spoke with Smoking Section about how it took a little less than a year to create the album and how he got the nickname “Black Lip Bastard.”

Lecrae Clarifies Line About Jay-Z & Lil Wayne, Speaks On Friendship With No Malice

Christian rapper Lecrae delivered his Church Clothes mixtape this week, sporting beats from 9th Wonder and Boi-1da as well as guest appearances from Braille and Christon Gray. The up-and-comer spoke exclusively with HipHopDX about the concept behind the tape and clarified his lyric, “Cole talk that college talk / Wayne talk gangs, Jay be talkin’ money, mayne, and ‘Ye talk fame / And people say I talk about the same ol’ thang.” He also explained his role as spiritual advisor to The Clipse’s No Malice, stating that he reached out to him when he was contemplating his conversion to Christianity.     Congrats to Ab-Soul for dropping an absolutely amazing album. So far, if it isn't the very best hip hop album of the year, it is in the top five at the very least. I recommend dudes going out a buying this. It's only $9.00 and it's amazing. There are a bunch of lesser albums out there that cost more.
