Maybach Music Group Announces Young Sav As Label Vice President

Rick Ross hires one of the minds and grinds behind the recent success at Def Jam Records for his own Maybach Music Group imprint.

Today Maybach Music Group has announced their latest addition to the executive staff of Rick Ross' high-profile label. Kendell "Young Sav" Freeman has been appointed Vice President, after years as Mix-show Director at Def Jam Records. Sav was instrumental in the Best Of Both Offices branding, and worked closely with acts such as 2 Chainz, Jadakiss and Juelz Santana. Prior to his work at Def Jam, Sav worked at TVT Records, with a roster then including Pitbull, Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz and Ying Yang Twins.

According to a press release, he is expected to remain in New York.

In a press statement, Sav reacted to the move, "I am extremely excited to embark on this new path in my career. I appreciate [Rick] Ross for noticing my grind, work ethic and giving me a major opportunity to not only be apart of this label, but also help execute his vision. It’s going to be a privilege to work with the brand and assist in taking it to the next tier. All of the artists on the roster are amazing. I’m ready to get to work."

Ross added, in his own words, "[It] feels great calling one of the hardest workers and few people I consider a close friend the new VP of MMG."

While Rick Ross currently remains a Def Jam Records artist, Maybach Music Group has a distribution deal through Atlantic Records, in the latest Warner Music Group move. MMG's roster currently includes Meek Mill, Wale, Gunplay and Omarion, among others.
