A$AP Rocky has been charged with misdemeanor simple assault, according to TMZ.com. The charge stems from an alleged incident at the Made In America festival in Philadelphia Saturday (August 31), the site says.
The alleged victim filed a criminal complaint today (September 4) with the District Attorney's Office claiming that A$AP Rocky was walking through a collection of dancing fans who were pulling on his shirt, as per TMZ. The rapper then turned around and landed an open-hand slap on the face of the alleged victim, who says she suffered whiplash from the alleged assault, according to TMZ.
A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault before. In July 2012, A$AP Rocky was arrested and sued for assault after a fight between the rapper and two photographers who had been filming the rapper while he was involved in an altercation with another person. That person, TMZ reported, claims that he saw the Harlem emcee get high in the clothing store, and that Rocky began beating him, before turning his attention to the photographers.
A$AP Rocky struck a plea deal in the criminal case, pleading guilty to attempted grand larceny, with the assault and robbery charges being dropped.
In June 2013, A$AP Rocky appeared to slap a female fan in the face, as seen in a video from the rapper's performance at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Australia, according to XXL. As A$AP Rocky walks through the crowd, fans are trying to get his attention by patting him on the head and reaching for his hands. When a female fan reaches down from her seat, taps A$AP Rocky on the head and blows him a kiss, the rapper appears to turn around the slap the woman in the face. He then appears to point at her as she reacts to being hit.
