A Tribe Called Quest and Prince came together for the Samsung Galaxy-sponsored #TheNextBigThing show, which some are calling the best SXSW show ever.
First, Tribe performed a slew of the seminal group's classics, with all four members - Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White - onstage.
"They called us at the last minute," said Q-Tip between songs, according to Complex. "I was chipping golf balls," added Tip. Phife would go on to say he was "Jerkin' it." Q-Tip later joked that "we should break up again for the third time." Tribe would close their set with fan-favorite "Award Tour."
After ATCQ's performance, Prince took the stage, backed by a 22-piece band. Among the tracks performed by the 54-year-old music legend performed hits such as "1999," "Purple Rain," and "Something in the Water."
Prince's set included six encores, the first of which featured a performance of Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough."
