De La Soul have invited fans to revisit their legendary show from 1996 at Tramps in New York City which featured appearances from Common, Jungle Brothers and a young Yasiin Bey.
The veteran rap group revealed on social media that the concert would be streamed in full on YouTube on Friday (April 26).

De La Soul have been increasingly active over the last year ever since their back catalog was made available on streaming platforms for the first time following decades of legal battles.
Extensive issues with their former label, Tommy Boy Records, over uncleared samples and the group’s contract had prevented the majority of their music — including early classics like 3 Feet High & Rising, De La Soul is Dead and Buhloone Mindstate — from being available digitally.

In 2019, the group stated that per their contract, they would receive just 10 percent of streaming revenue and declined to sign off on a proposed deal.
Things changed after Tommy Boy was sold to Reservoir Media in 2021, beginning the process of the group’s music becoming more accessible to longtime fans.
Due to now having greater control over their music, De La Soul released a special 35th anniversary edition of 3 Feet High and Rising last month to commemorate the milestone.
Included were two “home demos” billed by the group as being previously unreleased and recorded in group member Maseo’s basement.

The new edition of the record also came with four other bonus tracks: “Freedom of Speak (We Got Three Minutes),” “Ain’t Hip to be Labelled a Hippie,” “What’s More,” and “Jenifa Taught Me (12” Version).” All songs had never been previously available digitally.
The group, which is now a duo following the death of Truguy The Dove last year, have also been active on the live circuit, performing on The Late Show with Steven Colbert as well as touring with Nas and the Wu-Tang Clan.
