Wooooow
This shit is wack as hell… Shit looks like a Fanta commercial…. Why would these pioneers validate this as being Hip Hop? I just don’t get it… It’s like them cats are starving to be recognized… Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for paying hommage; and although Jay and J. Cole have never featured any of these dudes in their videos or on a track, they have made reference to the greats/pioneers in one way or another (not so sure about Kendrick or Rick Ross). Not to mention documentaries have been made (both on T.V. and the big screen), awards have been given recognizing them cats contributions of REAL HIP HOP. Now they take part in the HIP-POP agenda? The white-washing of our culture? I gotta say, that was real smart on Macklemore’s part getting some of the founders to cosign this buffoonery. That way if anyone questions the authenticity of this track or video, he’ll just say something like well just try and and tell the “founders” that! Them cats sold out for a check. SMH… I’ve never seen an article or Hip Hop column where any of them cats ever expressed their disappointment in Jay Z, J. Cole, Nas, Kendrick, Kanye, Lupe, Rick Ross, Common ect. This shit hurts the culture of Hip Hop in a big way.
Yeah this hurts hip-hop culture but Rick Ross, Fetty Wap, Young Thug are just making hip-hop cultrue thrive. Hip-hop in a sense is about making art, makin art the way you want to make it. People will always critize other peoples art. It really doesnt matter if your lyrics arent the dopest sometimes you just feel like making art just to have fun with it. It doesnt always have to be so serious. And lets be honest Lamar, Cole yes these dudes are dope but to say they are the dopest, no they are not they are just put on a pedistal because there mainstream there are some cats out there that could slay kendrick, and cole and lupe, but since there underground they cant reach as many people. To sum it all up this is not hurting the culture in anyway because the culture has been evolving constantly through time to what the “Fans” are feeling. So nothing is hurting the culture the culture itself changes. And to say its white washed get out of here with that shit. Since he’s at award shows and winning best album of the year that shit dont mean a dam thing. When hip-hop first started it wasnt about awards, boo hoo Kendrick didnt win a grammy it doesnt even matter to him since the art of rap never cared about awards. You just give this guy shit cause hes white at least hes not doing what our culture does and put Young Thug on a pedistal cause hes helping it out so much more
Man….I tried to watch it with an open mind. I tried to get a little bit of understanding out of it…WTF was that? I love hiphop but that wasnt it no matter who is in the video. It seemed like a joke. I dont care what color the artist is or none of that…wack is wack! Even the lil skinny dude scream singing was horrible. If you dont tell anyone who the pioneers are in the video prior to looking at it no one will know. They will think there are just some ol school lookn azz dudes in the video for a comedic effect. This was just a bullshyt song/video and I would say that if my mama made it! oVa
Macklemore….. shit as usual
