HipHopDX Premiere: Santa Fe, New Mexico’s little art collective that could, Meow Wolf, made national headlines with its interactive, multimedia art exhibition that opened last year. Albuquerque Hip Hop staple Wake Self has enlisted the help of the talented team behind “The House Of Eternal Return” for his new video, “No Price Tags” featuring vocalist Alia Lucero.

Produced by SmokeM2D6 of oldominon and Grayskul fame, the track is effortlessly brought to life by director Phillip Torres of Concept Flux Media, and the help of B-boys and B-girls Pyro (Tribal), Leah Scotia (Zia Queenz), Marena and Marvel (XFRX). Filmed at Meow Wolf and animated by Goldie Rankin, the visual itself is nothing short of electric, and finds Wake and crew covered in neon body paint courtesy of graffiti artist Kause.

“I saw a scene in Busta Rhyme’s ‘Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See’ video, which really inspired me,” Wake explains to HipHopDX. “I always thought his videos were so imaginative and I wanted to pay respect to the influence he had on me visually.

“Lyrically, the song is commentary on a lot of the disingenuous and shady things I hear and see from rappers, companies, promoters, bloggers, critics, and ‘friends,'” he adds. “We put the work in and we’re gonna keep rising up, and not allow any fakes, and snakery to pull us down.”

The new video follows his powerful visual for “Malala” and his collaborative track with Blackalicious MC Gift of Gab, “Change The World.” The track is taken from Wake’s latest solo album, Malala.
