Fans got a special taste of what’s to come when the official Black Panther trailer aired during the NBA Finals Friday (June 9).
Marvel released the nearly two-minute clip featuring Chadwick Boseman as the superhero — known by day as King T’Challa — Michael B. Jordan as his nemesis Erik Killmonger, and Lupita Nyong’o as the king’s bodyguard Nakia. The trailer is also set to a perfect soundtrack: Run The Jewels’ “Legend Has It” from RTJ3.
The much-anticipated film was also given a release date: February 2, 2018. Black Panther is directed by Ryan Coogler, who is the man behind Creed and Fruitvale Station.
Twitter was ecstatic about the film, which is being applauded for starring a predominately black cast in a time where #OscarsSoWhite is a real thing.
