HipHopDX Premiere: Georgia native Matt Citron has taken a signal from Batman and dropped a new video for “Save My Soul,” a nearly three-and-a-half adventure into the Lower East Side inspired by the film The Dark Knight. With intensity and grit, Citron raps his way through the visually enticing offering, tackling topics that seem to revolve around goals and not sweating the competition.

“I wanted to make sure I captured the aggressive urgency of the song in the video,” Citron explains to HipHopDX. “Honestly, my biggest influence for the visual was probably the main chase scene from The Dark Knight [movie]. I told the director how I wanted to bring it to life, and his team understood exactly what I was envisioning. I rarely give this much insight into my work, but I think it’s obvious that the song is unapologetically human and super in your face. I just had to crank up that feeling even more when it came time to put it into a visual form.”

The video was shot by director Shomi, who has worked on videos for Joey Bada$$, A$AP Rocky, Beyonce, and more. Watch it above.
