A 30 second trailer has been released for Season 2 of WGN’s Underground series, which follows the life of abolitionist Harriet Tubman and her journey through the Underground Railroad, a network of secret tunnels used by 19th century enslaved people. It begins with the last big moment from the first season, in which Tubman (played by Aisha Hinds) comes to main protagonist Rosalee’s rescue.
“Set in the aftermath of the Macon 7’s daring attempt to stage the greatest escape in history, this group of American heroes continues on their harrowing journey to freedom, with legendary abolitionist Harriet Tubman blazing the trail,” according to a WGN press release.
John Legend, who also serves as the executive producer of Underground, portrays historical figure Frederick Douglass. Season 2 premieres March 8. Watch the clip above.
