HipHopDX Premiere: North Carolina MC Deniro Farrar has consistently released one quality video after another, including “Duality” and “Dreams.” His latest video for “Going Down” is no exception. The video begins with an invitation to make himself at home in a luxurious mansion and then finds Farrar doing his best rendition of Tom Cruise’s famous scene in Risky Business as he slides across the floor in a white button up shirt, boxers and black socks. Coupled with his laser-focused lyrical execution and layered, laid back beat, “Going Down” continues his impressive catalog. The track comes from his recently released Red Book Vol. 1 mixtape.
“At first listen, the track could be for a party, but once you get into the lyrics, the vision becomes clear,” Farrar tells DX. “Think of it like feel-good song with knowledge. We sprinkle that substance in there. It’s a carrot with the sugar on top. I’m definitely speaking on the government and politicians because I don’t trust them. At the same time, I want to teach people how to love with no condition. Moments I’ve had with my kids are in there. It’s okay to be a father. You can stay down and pursue your dreams while being a dad. That’s what I try to do.”
