Rhymesayers rap phenom Aesop Rock has had an incredible year thanks to the success of his latest album,The Impossible Kid. Thursday (November 17), the East Coast native and Portland, Oregon transplant returns with new visuals for “Lotta Years” on the heels of his last video for “Shrunk” with Rob Sonic. Filmed in the City of Roses, this time he goes it alone and hits up a few local shops rapping about not only what he sees along the way, but also the impending doom of growing old. He meets a guy with a pair of lips tattoed on his neck and a girl with detachable dreads as he casually goes about his day.

“These are not necessarily my favorite hangouts,” Aesop explains to DX. “They are just places that let us film [laughs]. I wasn’t living where I live now at the time I wrote the song, so I didn’t really have access to the OG spots, but that’s fine. We were able to track down some great places that allowed us to re-create the idea.”

“I will say this,” he continues. “The girl with the detachable dreads reached out to me after hearing the song and figuring out that it was about her, so I flew her out to be in the video. The girl behind the counter in the juice bar is the girl I wrote about. She actually no longer had dreads when we got in touch, but had them for the shoot. Imagine that.”
