With A Tribe Called Quest’s final album, We Got It From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service, officially out, Q-Tip has offered a sneak peek into his home studio and the vault of vinyl rarities lining the walls in a segment with CBS this morning. Like a Hip Hop show-and-tell, the Tribe legend points out the mixing board used for two [The] Ramones albums and Blondie’s debut album, and reveals artists like Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga have all recorded in the studio.
Producer Statik Selektah also makes a special appearance and later in the interview, Q takes CBS host Gayle King downstairs to show off shelf after shelf of vinyl, including The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and some very rare test pressings.
Later, he goes through the track list for We Got It From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service. It’s a special treat for any Tribe fan.
