DJ Drama and DJ Don Cannon showed up at Atlanta’s famed Patchwerk Studios as part of Red Bull Music Academy’s RBMA Radio weeklong broadcast for a 90-minute interview to discuss their reunited mixtape collective The Aphilliates, some of the biggest tracks from the South, the golden era of mixtapes, and their roles in Atlanta’s rise to prominence in the Hip Hop world.

The multitasking producers and DJs helped lift the careers of rappers like Young Jeezy, T.I. and Young Dro in the mid-2000s, while laying the groundwork for Atlanta Hip Hop’s subsequent takeover. DJ Drama’s resume also includes work with prominent artists like Fabolous, Wiz Khalifa, Akon, Snoop Dogg, and T.I., while Don Cannon has produced tracks for everyone from 50 Cent and Outkast to Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
