De La Soul’s new album, And The Anonymous Nobody, has been quite the topic of conversation among Hip Hop purists over the past few months. Some loved the always experimental nature of the record, while others were left scratching their heads—2 Chainz? Snoop Dogg? Justin Hawkins of The Darkness? The various guest features were as diverse at it gets, but after repeated listens, many found the album got better and better.
Last night (September 27), De La Soul performed one of the album highlights, “Memory Of” featuring singer Estelle and backed by The Roots on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Posdnuos, Dave, and Maseo effortlessly showed viewers why they’re still around after 27 years since releasing their seminal album, 3 Feet High and Rising, which busted the genre wide open and laid the foundation for countless experimental Hip Hop groups to walk their path.
