R&B/neo-soul artist Cody ChesNUTT has shared the first single and accompanying video from My Love Devine Degree titled “Bullets In The Streets And Blood” featuring Raphael Saadiq on bass. In the song, he delivers his own brand of social commentary on current cultural affairs in a benevolent and honest way.

ChesNUTT, who previously worked for Death Row Records, had a brush with mainstream success when The Roots remade his song, “The Seed” for its 2002 Phrenology album, naming it “The Seed (2.0).”

In 2006, he made an appearance in Dave Chappelle’s Block Party, alongside artists like Erykah Badu, Dead Prez, Mos Def, and Big Daddy Kane. Since then, he’s released two albums, 2010’s Black Skin No Value and 2012’s Landing On A Hundred.
