    Let’s break it down.

      1. Em is ok. He can rhyme… But his catalog is horrible… He’s like a science fiction horror rapper… Not relatable to all… His best years were 1999-2003… Then shit went down hill… Top 50

      1. I’m white middle class but I didn’t buy his CD. MMLP was the very first album I ever bootlegged. Got it off Napster. Fuck you Lars Ulrich.

    1. em is very technicall, but first 3-4 albums were awsome technical, last mmlp2 and other production was extreme complicated, much off beat rhymes..

      1. I like how Chris Rock called him a “rapping typewriter.” He’s super technical, which is a complicated rhymestyle.

    2. if i had and rock bottom gonna play before i die #fml no euthanasia so i must commit suicide. next week imma do it. so wish me death. vienna drowning i hope my body get never found so i jump with weight.

    3. Unfortunately those in the biz can’t speak truth cuz whether we like it or not he owns the industry talk bad about him say goodbye to whatever fanbase you had. 100 million Stan’s will see to that. Top 75 sure. Still a great accomplishment. Goat only cuz his skin tone & cosigned by Dre. Blessing & a curse. I don’t hear cars banging ol school Eminem since Britney & nysync days, I don’t know anyone banging em while they fucccin, I don’t know many clubs banging em all the places where it counts

      1. LOL @ all the places where it counts….clubs and cars YOU hear…GTFOH. How about you go to a sports event and you will hear Lose Yourself, or hear it when it’s the Playoffs or the Superbowl…which counts a lot more than just what YOU hear in people’s cars. The idea that greats like Kane, Rakim, Nas, Jay have all given Em props as being one of the greatest ever makes YOUR dumb point of view just that, dumb.

        1. Like I said if they went at em their already decreasing fan base goes poof. It’s called self preservation not self destruction. They play criss cross, vanilla ice, hammer& house of pain in stadiums so they goats now haha, paint em black he probably don’t even get signed

    4. Eminem is the greatest lok at his story abilities, flows, complex rhymeschemes. He can go pop can go hardcore. Black people are just mad that a white rapper is the best.

    5. Of course he’s not the GOAT there is no such thing, he’s top 5 for sure though, but how you number the 5 greats is personal opinion. I’d have 1. Nas 2. Eminem 3. Biggie 4. Jay-Z 5. 2pac but there will be millions of people who say otherwise. That’s what’s so great about hip hop: the fact it’s so diverse and different. Could Eminem make a song like ‘juicy’? No but biggie couldn’t make a song like ‘lose yourself’ and both are classics for different reasons

        1. Biggies Lose yourself would be sky is the limit. But Biggie was more storytelling about the character he was portraying.. Eminem is more personal. He was story telling in his first album but got more personal with his writing after that. That’s one of the reasons he can’t write songs now. He can write 100%. He for some reason doesn’t want to write about his personal life anymore. So now he’s sticking to writing songs about subjects from before. I think he feels if he writes anything he hasn’t lived the people won’t accept it. But his lyrical skills are unmatched no one I mean no one can come close. He reached a level of lyricism that only a few people can even realize what’s going on. I can hear it. But I have yet to meet a person that even understands what he’s doing. He went to a level that maybe never possible for another person to achieve. If I can A&R for the man. I believe I can help him with another classic. No Rihanna needed.

    6. Music is a personal preference. Unless you break it down to numbers and stats. Like records sold etc… So to say he’s the greatest of all time, that’s up to you to decide. I feel he is definitely in league of very few when it comes to metaphors, story telling, rhyme cadence, work ethic, etc…He’s up there….

    7. Eminem is a legend and one of the best to ever do it, you don’t have to be a fan or worship him but you have to acknowledge that. As far as where he ranks it depends on the person. However I believe a case can be made that Marshall is the best pure rapper hip hop has ever seen and the best lyricist to hit mainstream and have success. Overall what makes him a unique emcee to me is his dexterity that he displays when it comes to rapping AND experessing yourself. I can’t think of another rapper that possesses so much rap athleticism while also being able to portray and express himself in many ways. The ability to be lyrically compelling while being funny, serious, angry, emotional, personal, motivational/inspirational, outrageous, dark, horrorcore,…etc and even merging some of these genres together. Just can’t see another one that’s so off the wall like Eminem when it comes to these things. He’s a great example of the evolution of the emcee.

      1. It’s like he soaked up pieces of masta ace, redman, scarface, tupac, ll cool j and unleashed them into the zeitgeist. You’re absolute right about his “ability to be lyrically compelling while being funny, serious, angry, emotional, personal, motivational/inspirational, outrageous, dark, horrorcore”

        1. If you haven’t heard “Any Man” from Rawkus Records Soundbombing II circa ’99 (pre Aftermath) do yourself a favor. His wordplay on that record is ridiculous.

    8. As many have said, it’s difficult to choose a GOAT because there are so many variables one has to take into consideration. But I will say I don’t think there has been another rapper who could create a song as detailed and emotional as ‘Stan.’

    9. if he is so good why nobody replays his music like notorious of 2 pac? cause his flow is boring and he doesn’t have skills to jump into different styles of beats

      1. Haha fuck you talking about em has flow for days way more then pac lol and probably beats biggie too. And I guarantee there are millions of people bumping every album this dude has ever made even relapse

      2. They replay Because Pac and Biggie are dead. It’s all we can do when they are gone.
But Eminem IS the GOAT. And probably won’t receive the Title till he’s gone or retires.

    10. Ladies and Gentleman longevity is a difficult task in this day and era.Is Eminem a God amongst all emceez in the industry hell naw!is he the best to mix pop music, lyricism and rock n roll into one one feat!? Hell yeah.Marshall Mathers has mastered the art of rap thats why when he releases a song everybody from the hip hop foundation knows about it cause hes doing it for the underground rappers.hes doing it for the pop music listeners like us who gt access to it and for the rockstars who finna gf jiggy with it.i can go crazy when I hear “just loose it” in 2016 cz it reminds me of “the-along-feel-get-down-with-it” feeling.he is a G.O.A.T.1996-1997 UNTIL 2016,thats a ? You should ask urself how much of a God in the rap game he is evwn when hes Dead while you listen to Till I Collapse

    11. Hes cool i have heart for shady…..Redman was the last shit you last lot posted about being the GOAT…o well il just go get my dick sucked and try not too loose sleep.

    12. Because he is white , I dnt mean to to be racist .I am Stan but I won’t consider him G.O.A.T. Talking about his skill , he can tap into Biggie”s complicated well engineered flow and flawless story telling simultaneously with the raw Emotions and True about one’s self that makes you compelled for days Like Pac.He can give Busta Rhymes a run for his money regarding speed of words .He can make you laugh like the Black out duo and fuel you with anger more that Immortal Tech.He is the bestest but we fear giving him the G.O.A.T title coz we thing he might take hip-hop to whites

      1. “take hip hop to the whites” you must be a high school kids. Part of eminems large commercial success is he appealed to and had his records bought by white people LMAO, get of this nuts tan

    13. Nas is the GOAT, followed by Fabolous. And this is coming from someone born and raised in L.A. I always held all the Death Row artists in the highest regard, but after a couple decades, I’m kinda lookin at NY rappers as being the very essence of Rap and Hip Hop–and not just because it’s the Mecca. Although these are just MY opinions, it is a fact that Eminem is the best lyricist of all time.

    14. Am a black dude from Africa and I have been a hip hop fun since I don’t know(for a long time).honestly speaking I believe eminem is the greatest rapper of all time.people talk about PAC ,biggie, jay z and nas but trust me none of these overrated rappers can come close to eminem.some rappers I believe don’t like him cause he has achieved more than them.

    15. Hes not the the greatest of all time but hes in my top 10. It goes like this(not in any particular order). Nas,Pac,Rakim,Biggie,Big L,Andre 3000,Big Pun,Jayz,Eminem,Big Daddy kane.

      1. Wow…you’re one of the few people who noticed that…and that happens when you act off of the script… and you’re not dishing out real rap – you ain’t doing real expression…

      2. Yep…boring as fuck. Back in the days, he had some tracks but nowadays he just Cries & whines on every song about how ’emotional’ ‘hard’ his millionaire life is and screaming on every record. Can’t listen to his music for more than 5 mins nowadays. Best song he’s done in recent years was ‘Don’t Front’ with the Buckshot sample.

    16. “I’m top 5 all time (alive or)
We know that’s been misstated and so overused”

      – Pharoahe Monch

No one is the GOAT; it’s all opinion. It’s very fluid and many names are thrown around but Eminem I believe to be without doubt one of the greatest and that’s all a rapper can be, never THE greatest.

      1. His flows crazy on that joint. “I’m A goat and I don’t mean to gloat…” Love that joint. That was an unreleased joint that leaked. It’s still noncommital, but for this piece I excluded unreleased tracks. I didn’t include the tracks that benzino leaked for the same reasons. Should’ve made that clearer in the video. That joints tough though.

    17. Here’s my top ten, in no particular order….

2pac, Chino XL, Tech N9ne, Crooked I, Hopsin, Nas, Jay-Z, Eminem, Kano, Lupe Fiasco

    18. Bar for bar, em cannot be touch by absoulutely noboby. Rap comes down to lyrics and metaphors, so to be the goat, you should on point at all times. If we walked up to your top 5, 10 rappers with em as one and told them to spit 16 off the top, em would body everyone. Thats not saying others wont be dope, but dude would out spit everyone.

    19. My top 10:
      1. Eminem
      2. 2Pac
      3. Naz
      4. Biggie
      5. DMX
      6. Ice Cube
      7. Jay Z
      8. 50 Cent
      9. Raekwon
      10. Royce Da 5’9

    20. I’m a die-hard hip-hop fan outta S.Cack,n I always felt bar for bar Redman BEEN tha nicest. And Cube causehcause he just cold. Em is up there, jus like Wayne up there. I write, and that gives you a different perspective …

      1. Agreed. Cube never gets mentioned and it makes 0 sense. Death certificate and lethal injection 2 of my favs. He got way more too. …To or g or not to g is the question….thank u for making me now go back and dip into his music.

    21. Eminem is my 3rd favourite but for me he’s not really deep with his lyrics.. They don’t touch me on the level as when someone like Nas or Pac says it. As far as putting rhymes & syllables & all that shit together, Em is the goat hands down but he’s definitely missing something Pac had which is why most people I think class Tupac Shakur as the greatest rapper of all time. Rap ain’t just spitting on a mic, rap is spitting lyrics with emotion, using the right tone for a beat. Punchlines, metaphors all that. Pacs songwriting skills were 100%. Eminem is a wordsmith & Nas has all around mastered everything it’s just he doesn’t have the songwriting skills Em or Pac had.

      1. The art of emceeing is more than just putting rhymes and syllables together, gotta have the metaphors, delivery, subject matter and flow. Em is weak in those categories and his multi-syllabic rhymes and wits are not that nice. He fell off significantly after his first 2 albums. He can’t be top 3 when there are other rappers way nicer

      2. I don’t think I’d agree with you. If Pac has better writing skills, it didn’t translate to music lovers liking it and sales. There must be balance in writing rap, just like in writing songs. Eminem also showed emotion when he sings. He is also a versatile music artist because he knows how to project himself in music videos.

Rapping is all about flexibility that is why Eminem broke the mainstream and was able to send his message to more people around the world. Mind you, it’s hard to look for a melody/flow that people from around the world , with different backgrounds and culture, will like.

        And again, numbers and sales prove why Eminem is… the… greatest… rapper… of… all… time…

    22. Yo…. you just like the media…..ramble on and on – with the chronic same old diarrhea…

Eminem is just a scrap….he scripted shit, a co-write team for wit…and when you act off that….you just did an Act… So’z..UZz an Act… But.. I’ll give an extra piece of ‘peanut poop’ (peanut Eminem)…for a stan – to toss out in the gallery… Because… either he was real tricky and sneaky….or he just got lazy… or he really did try to hold on to some integrity… Because it took him till age 43…to shady wit his slimmy…inA soft porno…with Britney.

    23. if you’re younger and respect the art of rap but all u know is his radio songs etc. Do yourself a favor and explore Ems earlier stuff, songs with d12, diss songs etc and you’ll see why rappers/lyricists who do it for a living always say he’s one of the greatest and made rappers step their game up. start with renegade with jay z. Go from there. lol

    24. Eminem doesn’t have an album that is universally acclaimed classic, so he’s great but the best ever. His ms music has aged and has little replay value

    25. Of course Em’s the GOAT, there is no rapper alive who would ever want to face him in a competitive rap. And any of your favorite rappers would tell you to your face, he’s the best (including Drake recently) and wouldn’t want it with Em. What makes a King? Money and Fear, Em has both..

    26. I think he’s in the top 5 discussion. His versatility of flow is top 5. His guest verses are top draw. But does he hold down the live show like Pharoahe, Nas, the roots, mos, talib? I was disappointed even though he sounded clinical. Also, he fails often to commentate socially on the wider issues and has a limited narrative which impacts its poetic value. The main problem I have is the repeat value on his work. I have his music and rate his lyricism, but don’t feel the replay value even though he came through with the greatest producer of all time. With all factors considering my list is Pharoahe, Nas, Black Thought, Mos Def, Common (quality of catalogue, features & live), 2Pac (cultural impact + range of topics, charisma), Eminem, GZA, Andre 3K (could murder most but needs to shine ‘solo’ – pun intended). Biggies catalogue shallow, topics limited, Jay-Z just bit too much. You can’t straight bite shit and be top 10. Big L & Big Pun catalogue shallow. I would then look to Cube, Chuck D, Ghostface, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane…

    27. he isnt the goat but hes top 20 he hasnt went bar for bar in a rap battle with no one live on stage in recent years i would give him credit if he did he would have an excuse like most famous rappers do. ‘WHY WOULD I MAKE ANOTHER RAPPER RICH ‘ EM VS MURDA MOOK OR EVEN PAPOOSE but em is a great rapper heres my list 2pac az nas jay z kool g rap redman big daddy kane ice cube tragedy khadafi cormega scarface big l pun stack bundles eminem hussein fatal half a mill masta ace in no order

    28. There is no goat and most on here can only name the same 10 rappers for this discussion. Em’s music is garbage and has always been garbage once he got with Dre. He can rap and had really dope skills but his beats and subject matter is that of POP star and not of an MC. He sold out, his music is nothing like his movie, dude was really nice in the 90”s. Body of Work is what you would look at. There are way more dope MC’s then just pac, Em, Biggie but that is all that you see on here. Guru and and KR1 have the best of body of wk or real classic albums or songs but that doesn’t mean they can rap better than Big L who died and Phoroah monch who was only good under organized Konfusion.. Way to many dope cats in the underground the have dope albums never to get mention in these kids of raps. Popular is different than Goat, same with pac who had some horrible corny ass over hyped songs.

    29. Everything Justin said about Em was spot on. Record sales unrivaled (not sure if Em still holds the record for fastest to sell a mil in a week), lyricism is the greatest of all time (and you can’t even say B.I.G. holds a candle to Em let’s be real, had B.I.G lived long enough to showcase his talent and evolution maybe this would be a different story). Has anyone heard what this man has been able to do on tracks? It’s like he’s screwing with the rest of hip hop. He does switch styles like a chameleon, he can blend in with ANY beat, yet have the most stand out verse. The care that Em shows for what hip hop is as a culture and rapping as an element of hip hop; there is nobody who cares like that. Nobody else challenges themselves enough to do this. Legacy, Like Toy Soldiers, etc., these songs are just examples. Watch his entire interview on “The Art Of Rap” with Ice T if you haven’t seen it. He doesn’t even hint at it in conversation because he’s either modest, or because he knows he is, and he knows he has a whole army of “Stans” that believe it too.

    30. Whatever… Only person who can think they’re goat in this rap game is King HOV. He killed Nas with Takeover and ran over Eminem on Renegade. Everyone else is just a broke ass Nas stan compared to King HOV.
