Bay Area-based DJ True Justice brings community awareness on the second single and video from his Guerrilla Funk debut, The Man of Steel, available now.
Along with Bay Area-based rapper Equipto, the single “Walk with Me” chronicles the daily struggles many face as they struggle with police violence, wage inequality, and gentrification in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The song’s most glaring attribute, besides its infectious rhythm, is the affection for community in its message. Of course, it should come as no surprise that long-term SF vet and activist Equipto, fresh off of his involvement in the #Frisco5 protests against police violence, would bring the heat. Add to that DJ True Justice’s machine-gun accurate execution on the wheels, and the combination is an explosive mixture of music and message, perfect for today’s climate.
