HipHopDX Exclusive Premiere: Hip Hop trio, Ugly Heroes, consists of Detroit producer, Apollo Brown and emcees Red Pill and Verbal Kent. Red Pill is a rapper and lyricist from Detroit and Verbal Kent is a Chicago Hip Hop artist.

They recently released their album, Everything InBetween, which offers diamonds of wisdom amidst the existential dumpster fire. Ugly Heroes unravel heir own stories, self-doubts, and bouts with depression to arrive at something as profound as it is vulnerable.

Now, they release the official music video for “Daises.” Apollo Brown warps soul music and bayonet-hard drums, creating a singular form of soul-coughing dirty-sky symphonies. Levitating boom-bap for the 21st Century, Red Pill, Apollo Brown and Verbal Kent refuse to offer simple solutions; but instead created a life-affirming record with a dark undercurrent.

Apollo Brown says, “When making the beat for “Daisies”, I allowed myself to be as simple as possible, while maintaining as much reflection and feeling as I could. I left it in the casket, and the fellas went ahead and put that casket in the grave. What they did on this song was incredible.”

Verbal Kent says, “It was fun for me to imagine looking back on my life from almost an outside perspective and story telling about it. Writing my verse, and the chorus for ‘Daisies’ was an exercise in self-examination. I questioned my own efforts and truths, and went back and forth from feelings of regret to overwhelming pride.”
