Meth is spot on. Kendrick and a few others seem to be bringing rap back into its essence. Rap encompasses all of these current sounds but it is refreshing to hear these youngins spit bars of substance in an artistic way.
Meth hit the bullseye! So called Hip Hop media outlets are super thirsty for attention so they will magnify the smallest shit to try and capitalize off of it. They make money and the people involved end up suffering which in turn the culture and the business suffer. Not to mention so called Hip Hop media is constantly co-signing garbage. And they’re constantly supporting the crab in the bucket mentality of older rappers/producers not being “relevant” because of their age. The Source used to give us decent write ups and the album reviews and they used to give us something to have Hip Hop debates over like if an artists deserved “5 Mics” or not and the Hip Hop Quotables. Benzino killed that with his obsession with Eminem. Vibe fueled the whole east coast vs west coast which eventually led to the deaths of 2 of the biggest artists to ever rap. XXL used to always throw shade on artists and then 6 months later be sucking them off. They had a decent run because once The Source got corny from Benzino, people still wanted that experience. But then once all this trash music started getting co-signed it was over. Nobody wants to read about a wack ass rapper.
