Completely agree w/ you. That shift doesn’t and can’t happen overnight which actually makes me sympathize with the guy. But only to a certain extent
Sha Money is mad at the media and cops? Having guns & drugs in the studio is the definition of shitting where you eat. He shoulda schooled those kids on keeping that element away from what had the power to potentially turn their lives around. Sha Money WAS just doing his job. But weren’t the cops also just doing their job? They pointed guns at Sha not for giving those kids a chance but because they went to arrest a group of kids that ended up having TWENTY ONE guns on them, and he happened to be there with them at the time.
Sha Money XL is a sucka for that. He was around G-Unit at their peak with the hip-hop cops following them and Yayo getting sent away for the gun… There’s no excuses that man can make for these guys. He had no problem with anything they were doing while they were putting money in his bank account. Now that the shit hit the fan he wants to blame the everyone but the guys selling crack and killing their own people.
@weekago It didn’t sound like Sha was mad at the cops…the way the story is told here, it seemed like he was more disappointed at the schmoney team for not cleaning their act up and getting hime tangled up in their mess.
you know i don’t know karate bitch
HA. I hate you so much for the beginning of that video Hunte, lolol. Shouts to the hat going up in the background, I seent dat. Look, with all due respect, this IS NOT HIP HOP NEWS. This is regular news. Bobby Shmurda was barely a professional rapper in the first place! If people are fists up against police brutality, but laughing at Shmurda, they’re fools. It’s all a part of the bigger issue, an issue way bigger than hip hop. And what is Sha Money trying to say? Who is he REALLY trying to blame? Ah man, this does not really need to be attached to hip hop. But as always, if it has to be, glad it’s broken down by you. Still. Too many other good things being swept away by the nonsense…
I agree with each of ya’ll commenting. But fa’real Justin. Bobby had absolutely no intention on changing the element he was surrounded by because his element (the nigga he had around him) was his momentum and his crew. And ya can’t turn your back on your niggas. Even if he could change his shit, if he continued to keep company like that around him, he don’t have control over what other people around him do. I mean, we all know the scenario and how all that go.
But on the Hip-Hop side of it? If Sha Money really cared about his artists, wanting to change their living perspectives and what goes on in his studio as a businessman? Look, I have a studio as well. And I have ground rules for anybody steppin’ inside my shit:
1.No weapons and/or drugs. (if you gotta get high, do that shit before you step in.)
2.No groups larger than 5 people including producer/engineer, or only those specifically involved in the creative process.
3.Everyone needs to be identified.
Sha Money SHOULD have had such a mindful structure in place… If the “really” cared about his intentions. So all that blah he pushin’ is bullshit. He knew exactly what he was dealin’ with, gave it a pass tryin’ to be on some cool shit with them, and now he cryin’ cause the laws scared the puck outta his ass cause they ran up in his shit and pressed barrels on all their asses?! Nigga… git da fucking out. Fa’real.
The only brother to post a real comment-respect.
The realest comment by far. Sha Money XL was hoping on another G Unit. But these guys seem to be outta control. Wayyyy outta control. 21 Guns like it’s World war 3. I guess it was inevitable. Even though Sha Money coulda been a better role figure.
bobby who? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
No disrespect, I am a teacher and a lot of my students look up to this young man and they want to carry guns, get high, forsake an education, etc. This is the negativity that continues to taint and hold back the next generation of young Black Americans.
Best Hiphop daily. I think yea it was to much to fast. He was still deep in the in game. Not to mention the lyrics of the song will be used against him in court. Kid just got on too.
I don’t normally comment on post because I found that it ignorant, but they caught on about what he said on Hot Nigga. The law SHOULD know that raps he make may be ignorant, but they can’t prove that’s true. Besides most, but not all, rap songs talk about money, killing, and drugs. Using it or selling it. It’s all entertainment to give the people what they want. People won’t like this when I say this but Bobby shouldn’t go to jail. He just started in the rap game and to ended off like this is just wrong to me. And for those of you who would reply saying he’s a criminal and that he should be jailed, they caught him for the lyrics he said. And besides, you would believe a rap song like that? Just take a wise guess to ask yourself that question.
I ain’t sure if you’re trolling or not but they’ve been building that case since before that song came out. Has nothing to do with the lyrics in his songs. I don’t think they should use the lyrics of his song as evidence either but it looks like they have other shit on him. Dude’s got hella priors too so it’s not like this is because of his fame. Just another sad story of a youth led astray. Product of his environment without a positive role model to guide him the other way
The case had more to do with other police work. The statements/lyrics only added the proof to the pudding, and they aren’t the first rappers to implicate themselves in crime through their music.
we need DISQUS
Salute for that graph about Mike Brown and Eric Garner. People always gonna be more fascinated with that gang life and Scarface storyline because it’s something 99% of people don’t want to be involved in and never will (for a good reason who wants 50+ years in prison?!). Convenient timing that the New York police arrest a high profile rap group/gang while they have all this negative press breathing down their neck. They could’ve cuffed GS9 for a while now but this helped push down the bad they’re doing.
People need to continue asking for answers from law enforcement. They’re quick to answer questions and bash Shmurda (rightfully as he’s killing black youth) yet they’re vague and uninterested in answering questions about their own department’s illegal activities. Beating up a 12 year old when a gang of cops already has the child pinned down?! Seems like similar gang activity they’re claiming is hurting the community from GS9 albeit without murdering but still strong-arming. I hope people continue to fight against these crooked law officials and don’t get caught up in the story of Shmurda but I fear that’s not going to happen.
PS: Great DX Daily
Also please fix your coding or site or whatever so we can type paragraphs again. Lol no one wants to read a wall of words
when keeping it real goes wrong
great piece, all. love this breakdown and love that it’s starting an honest discussion about a real issue in rap culture – and how it effects the culture at large. @aahtue’s comment was spot on: it’s definitely bigger than hip hop. this is a huge f%^ing discussion and it will be interesting to see what happens if he and gs9 are released on bond and the direction they’ll take from there. i’d love to hear what jay, drake, and other big rap names who jumped on the shmoney train early have to say about all of this, and i hope they have the tenacity to enter into the discussion as they have the clout to spark change. props to all those involved here. -JLR
It’s funny – I used to see these dudes around a lot and when the video went viral my first thought was how many of these dudes will make something out of their lives in the long-run. My opinion at the time was nothing, and not because I’m hating. Overnight, these dudes got lost in thinking they are tough guys and don’t have an ounce of common sense between them. I pray for the day when making a song called “Hot Nigga” is viewed among blacks as the ignorant nonsense that it is. You can’t call yourself a “hot N” or a “real N” and voice an opinion against government when you’re the biggest problem among lower-class blacks. Chris Rock had it right years ago when he said there is a civil war taking place between black folks and N’s. While I understand the reasons for poverty and the residual social affects, I still have no respect for lightweight punks, record companies who exploit black ignorance, and blacks who tolerate the exploitation.
Great post. Last sentence was SO spot on. Cheers
Great story HHDX…well done

This is a so-called hip hop website that deletes comments, so no use me making anymore here. The brainwash campaign is being perpetuated here.
