I’ve noticed the same thing with Eminem fans. You guys act like whatever he puts out is automatic GOLD and EVERYONE should like it. That’s called delusion, and that’s what the industry does, is blind hip-hop fans into what’s hot. All this hype about SH being hip-hop’s new and improved savior, and yall hip-hop nerds buy into it.
And for the record, I own 2 albums from Royce (Rock City/Death is Certain – new fans do your research), and MM3 & MM4 from Joe Budden. I got no problem with the individual members. None. I just don’t like them as a group, and that’s my opinion, and you don’t have to agree…I’m not trying to convince anyone. I just think a lot of their stuff is corny and doesn’t have any replay value.
I also think their new shit is commercial and pop. But I’m not surprised, there with Shady now. That’s what Slim does. Look at the Recovery features, and look at OUR HOUSE features. Skylar Grey, B.o.B, Swizz Beatz, Cee-Lo Green…Do I dislike ALL SH songs? Of course not. And I’m sure their new album will have a couple bangers. I learned that with Recovery, Hell: The Sequel, and Radioactive…Shady 2.0 albums will be at least half pop, half hip-hop. Not for me, but I ain’t knockin anyone that’s buying them. Do you.
I’m with you on this for the most part. I feel like they are looking for that Royce and Em sound which is pretty pop. The group its self actually makes me like Royce and Buddens more than I did before. Real talk their new stuff has sounded pop, I was hoping the mixtape would bring the raw, it’s alright so far. Being lyrical dont mean you can make good music. The more I listen to Slaughterhouse and Tech N9ne the more i get this feeling. Sometimes more is less and less is more (banging).
I think the group obviously has to make some commercially appealing tracks because it’s their first album. There has to be some radio appeal. When they first came out tracks like move on, microphone, warriors, wack MCs those tracks are all fire STILL. I think what they’ve been releasing to us is just them bullshittin having fun. I’d imagine knowing how dope they are that they’re saving the best for the album and I think the albums going to turn a lot of heads.
