Every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, Jurassic 5 turntablist Cut Chemist delivers his A Stable Sound podcast via Mixcloud, which he does live on Dublab.com. The fifth episode features politically-motivated music from Rage Against The Machine, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Ice Cube, Sound Experience, Paris, and more, as well as a little Black Flag for good measure.
In addition, he interviews MC Hymnal, who he did “What’s The Altitude” with in 2006, and features co-host and fellow DJ Marvski, who was one of Cut’s mentors. The content is inspired by the recent developments in our political climate.
“I felt compelled to play things that reflect a time when music spoke out against injustice,” Cut Chemist explains to DX. “I think society needs that tone in art again and I hope these times inspire it.”
Check out Hymnal spitting “Rightstarter (Message To A Black Man)” from Public Enemy’s 1987 masterpiece Yo! Bum Rush The Show below and listen to the episode above.
