Mebracknegodguwad Mahtemework (born September 1, 1991), better known as Ras Nebyu and sometimes referred to as the Thunder Man, is an Ethio-American recording artist from Uptown Washington, DC. The son of an African-American mother and an Ethiopian father, Ras seamlessly bridges the gap of his parents’ cultures and provides us with a brand new perspective of modern day Uptown, DC through Hip Hop. He manages to blend his socially conscious content and his Rastafarian/Pan-Africanist beliefs with futuristic sounds and leisure listening, without compromising the integrity of his message.

Returning back to DC after performing an opening set at Nigerian superstar Wizkid’s concert in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast, West Africa) last summer, the Thunder Man along with childhood friend and producer The Arckitech are gearing up to release his next mixtape entitled “SLIZZATRISM.” For the first single off the impending project, the young Ras Nebyu unveils “Story” — a mellow, yet enthusiastic single that exudes confidence from start to finish.
