A few thoughts. 1) This is getting ugly. If Drake isn’t going to come back with a full song addressing Budden, he’s better off not responding at all. His verse on “No Shopping” was absolute doo doo. 2) Budden did WORK on this, but there are a few points where he sounds like a jilted lover. Kiiiiinda weird. 3) As impressive as this song is — and, it is — more than anything else, it underscores the potential firepower of an actual Joe Budden x Drake x 40 collaboration. Here’s hoping the “beef” is settled sooner rather than later and leads to that (long overdue) collabo.
My brother and I have been wondering for years how these ain’t got no collabs.
Joes been making emotional rap songs for years and Drake has made that style popular now. It makes sense. Drake is guilty of taking over waves though, and if Joe feels like he’s hung around him and been cool with him and now goes and takes the emorap to the mainstream I think he’d be right in feeling agrieved. Drake has done this a few times already. But putting his neck out and doing a collab with Joe would of been respectful. You can’t rob an og and walk free
I felt similarly when Drake and Common went at it, although Common is more of a conscious rapper, they’ve shared similar styles and delivery, its almost as if Common was the first Drake (without the singing)
Rap beef is pathetic now days, drakes verse was the gayest diss ever in rap. And budden just spit nonsense. Anyone remember saigons diss to budden over the wu tang joint??
