A 23-year old Los Angeles native, JP Cali Smoov is best known for his musical collaborations with DJ Quik, Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg. After being in and out of the legal system, Cali experienced a true life changing experience after flying to LA for a show. On the way to the venue, Smoov was in a fatal car accident, an accident that resulted in the death of his two best friends. After months of rehabilitation, Smoov decided to turn his life around and dedicate himself full time to making music.
Coming off the success of his recent contribution (“This Is Your Moment” featuring Wiz Khalifia & Buddy) to Problem & DJ Quik’s smash EP Rosecrans, Cali recreates that chemistry with both Problem and Quik with the first single, “Royal Rumble,” (his first single since the tragic accident) from his forthcoming project Jackie Robinson. Coming this summer on RBC Records, the project also features appearances from Dom Kennedy & Big Syke among others.
