DJ Smu drops off a new mix, this time with Nas and Jay Electronica over J.Dilla’s “Donuts” instrumental.

I remember thinking that if Dilla and Large Pro did the full Stillmatic album, Jigga might have been done. Imagine Jay droppin that classic in Blueprint then Nas just dominating over Dilla and Large Pro beats for 3 years while Jay dropped that trash azz Blueprint 2. Instead, Jay got about a billi and Nasty Nas is stuck makin tracks with Jigga’s apprentice. Damn shame.
Jay might be JIgga’s apprentice, but Jay Elec is 100x doper than Jay will ever be or has been. Take out Reasonable Doubt from hov’s catalogue and its not even close!
If you’re comparing money, then yes.. jay z won. But it’s not like nas is broke. That man is still sitting on a couple million and now he’s making more business moves than ever. The only thing that’s a shame is that I dont have either of the money of these guys lol. However, from a creative stand point nas’ catalog is better.
Why are you worried about another man’s pockets? That’s some real female shit. Worry about your own money. You wouldn’t tell Nas he’s broke to his face – he’d laugh at you.
Ns has the greatest album ever in illmatic. In fact Nas first 3 Albums are about as GREAT as albums get. B.I.G dies after his second album and people put big on a high ass chair. If nas died after his first 2 or 3 albums, Nas would be in a chair so high, everything else would be a failure.
Jay Z was the smarter man, Nas is the better lyricist simple as that.
and FIY, I m not a fan of Jay Elec…his flow, his voice, his content, his energy level NOTHING pulls me in
Jay-Z isn’t “smarter”, he just cares more about money and being famous than Nas does. Nas has had many opportunities to be the biggest artist ever. He was asked to be the president of Atlantic and Def Jam but he turned both down, the whole “hiphop is dead” movement could have been a lot bigger than it was, but after the album dropped he stopped talking about it, he could have continued to put out pop singles like Jay, but always choose not to. Nas is the kind of guy who is happy with a little money in his pocket, but he doesn’t want the attention…Jay does. That doesn’t make him smarter, they’re just different people who want different things out of life.
