Scarface got this and every other track he did with Nas. As always, Nas brought it lyrically, but his delivery is straight out WACK. You can hear and read his words, but you don’t feel them. He’s like a fucking robot, delivering every topic and emotion in the exact same manner. You don’t feel what Nas is talking about off his delivery alone, he acts like a gangsta, a poet, a broke and rich, a sad and happy nigga all in the same vocal tone. Music = emotion. That’s why he’ll never be close to being the greatest rapper. He might be the greatest lyricist, but that doesn’t translate into being the greatest rapper.
Its unbelievable how you guys can manufacture baseless criticisms whenever Nas drops gems, this track being case in point. His delivery was wack? People need to understand that sales actually do matter. The more a certain sound/style sells the more a label will push it. Nowadays labels are pushing that pop rap because thats what sells the most
Honestly i could write a book about this but what im trying to say is that before we say “Def Jam should invest in lyrical artists” we need to show that we really want to support these artists. Remember it cost alot money to support an artist and theres no point for a label to push an artist if he wont sell many records.
An example is Big KRIT. His talented and does put substance in his music, but he only sold 40 000 in his first week and last time i checked the album is around 81,000 copies. Which is ok but those numbers arent gonna make def jam say “we need to invest in Big KRIT”

I cant speak for everyone on this site but when i hear music like this it connects to me on a personal level. And not on some stuff where the rapper was saying a bunch of cliche’ terms and trying to fake you into believing that this rap sh*t matters. I know that people under 25 get tired of hearing about the old days and in some ways i agree because we have a tendancy to be too nostalgic. But the feelin you got from the music was sincere. Simply because the artist was. The culture of rap is sickened with the same plagues that we used to mock other genre’s for. Rap was never about having a hit song it was about making a dope album. A bad sign of any music genre is the amount of one hit wonders it has under its belt. The rise in these amounts in rap is dramatic and detremental to the culture as a whole. People need to be looking at rap as a career rather than a job. Listening to this song in addition to Life is Good has me thouroughly convinced That Nas is the greatest rapper of all time. No other rapper has remained this strong lyrically even after 10 years in rap let alone 20.

He’s like a fucking robot, delivering every topic and emotion in the exact same manner. You don’t feel what Nas is talking about off his delivery alone, he acts like a gangsta, a poet, a broke and rich, a sad and happy nigga all in the same vocal tone. Music = emotion. That’s why he’ll never be close to being the greatest rapper. He might be the greatest lyricist, but that doesn’t translate into being the greatest rapper.

People need to understand that sales actually do matter. The more a certain sound/style sells the more a label will push it. Nowadays labels are pushing that pop rap because thats what sells the most
Honestly i could write a book about this but what im trying to say is that before we say “Def Jam should invest in lyrical artists” we need to show that we really want to support these artists. Remember it cost alot money to support an artist and theres no point for a label to push an artist if he wont sell many records.
An example is Big KRIT. His talented and does put substance in his music, but he only sold 40 000 in his first week and last time i checked the album is around 81,000 copies. Which is ok but those numbers arent gonna make def jam say “we need to invest in Big KRIT”

I cant speak for everyone on this site but when i hear music like this it connects to me on a personal level. And not on some stuff where the rapper was saying a bunch of cliche’ terms and trying to fake you into believing that this rap sh*t matters. I know that people under 25 get tired of hearing about the old days and in some ways i agree because we have a tendancy to be too nostalgic. But the feelin you got from the music was sincere. Simply because the artist was. The culture of rap is sickened with the same plagues that we used to mock other genre’s for. Rap was never about having a hit song it was about making a dope album. A bad sign of any music genre is the amount of one hit wonders it has under its belt. The rise in these amounts in rap is dramatic and detremental to the culture as a whole. People need to be looking at rap as a career rather than a job. Listening to this song in addition to Life is Good has me thouroughly convinced That Nas is the greatest rapper of all time. No other rapper has remained this strong lyrically even after 10 years in rap let alone 20.

This is the best real hip hop track I’ve heard in a long time. Scarface does not get the respect he deserves. He should be on everyone’s Top 10 DOA list. Nothing against all the other great MC’s out there but this verse confirms that Nas is the GOAT. Nobody could have spit a better verse, period.
