      1. This type of stannery has to stop. I’ll choose to listen to freemason to this wack shit any day.

      2. it’s a sad state today when a good song like this with a real message not said in a preachy manner is hated on, just because some people think the hook and beat and style is wack. it’s like you people want Lasers back. shows how stupid people are these days.

      3. Bro, the first verse alone bodies Rick Ross whole career. Ross can spit but his content is old and boring. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t pop till you 35 years old. You just gotta make all you can while you can.

    1. wtf lupe? he’s trying to cram 18 syllables into 5 syllable lines and it sounds so forced.

      fell off/10

    2. I love Lupe, one of the best rappers, BUTTT this shit is one of the worst songs he’s ever put out. The content is fine, because I see what he is trying to do. The flow is awful though, and the feel to it is bad. Beat is pretty bad as well. I REALLY HOPE THIS IS NOT ON THE ALBUM. I KNOW IT SAYS IT IS, but maybe he will change his mind

      1. You missed the whole damn point. How is the flow awful???? He broke down the connection between market psychology and moral bankruptcy. That alone makes the shit ill. And the word play and vocabulary is some shit 99% of emcees couldn’t pull together if their career depended on it. FOH wit that A&R perspective. Everybody think they qualified to be an exec these days.

    3. This retard should stop making music after he act like a bitch and profane T.R.O.Y without Pete Rock agree.

    4. hook is wack, flow is borin, I cant dance to da beat… and I dont understand da lyrics. dis moron shud retire already. hiz music has no substance. disnigga aint no original, he copied Lil Wayne’s skateboard style and rock album. lmao… swag

      1. Are you serious? Df would he want you to dance to this for. This is a serious message that he wanted to project with this song and the last thing he wanted listeners to do is dance to it. His music has the most substance within it and if you dont understand his lyrics that was the reason sites like RAPGENIUS.COM was made. And really smh lupe fiasco started all that in 2006 with the release of his single kick, push. If you dont know what your talking about then dont say anything at all.

      2. are you an idiot? first…his first single ever was called kick push, which was about skateboarding and way way before lil wayne was ever seen with a skateboard. second….it’s obvious you cant dance to the song cuz it’s not meant for the club. jackass. its not his best song but i do understand the concept and everything he said was true but you need to take a listen to his first two albums. well maybe not cuz you couldnt even understand wat this song was about, his first two albums might give you a brain tumor.

      3. His just a lonely troll … I bet his mom didn’t hug him enough when he was growing up Aggh you poor thing !

      4. LOL, this has to be the easiest lupe song to understand…”dont understand da lyrics”. kill yo self trollboi

    5. This is corny and gay. Anyone who says they would listen to this more then once is a fucking liar. If Nas tried rapped over this mediocre south club beat you faggots would be giving it ones and saying he sucks at picking beats. But you give this dude and all other artists who rap over wack shit, one a daily. smh I see what dude was trying to do, but this is wack.

      1. Who knows? He probably chose the beat so the message could get more exposure, considering the fact that almost every song on the radio that’s in heavy rotation have a similar sound or are just as simple as this beat.

      1. A TYGA Feature? TYGA!?!?! Hahaha get the fuck outta here Tyga is one of the worst rappers in the game! Hes right on top of Wacka, and right under Wiz man stfu Lupe shits on Tyga

      2. Dumb people cannot interpret sarcasm even if smacked them on the back of the head with a 4X4 plywood. Rack City CHICK!!!

    6. Want dance, clubbin songs with no lyrics?? Then drop your pants a few inches and go listen to some Gucci Man

Want real hiphop and you actually care for lyrics?? Then Lupe all day!!!

    7. the message is good, obviously, lyrics are pretty sharp but the beat and the flow aren’t as good as the message and the lyrics. Of course this is a good thing that a rapper writes with such talent but we can’t forget this is RAP MUSIC and in this rap music, the flow and the beat are just as important as the lyrics ! Lupe still a dope MC tho

    8. Lupe and the rest of his fans need to get outside and breathe some fresh air. This song isn’t completely terrible but that awful ass analogy and lack of passion and focus in the execution is what is keeping this from being played on the radio. And yes he does want this on the radio he is an employee of a major recording company so stfu with the “he doesn’t want radio bullshit.” Now if any of you Lupe fans can honestly say that the portrayal he used in this song is actually realistic or believable then you are just as confused and out of touch with reality as he is. And sure, yeah, ok, it’s art. Poorly executed art = fiasco.

      1. “Now if any of you Lupe fans can honestly say that the portrayal he used in this song is actually realistic or believable then you are just as confused and out of touch with reality as he is.’ i state that it is you who is out of touch with reality. You are either ignorant to the realities that Lupe has touched basis on here OR you are so warped into the “MTV/BET” culture. A lot of kids are growing up thinking spandex tight jeans and anorexia is a way of living because they are SATURATED with it all day from the mass media. Do some homework before you try to comment again.

    9. Ignorance loves company …For you people hating the content … No need to worry new soldier Boy album out soon for all you love to dance busters !

    10. yo I dont even dislike this, Lupe is definitely talented and can rap his ass off….but has one of the most boring, preachy rap personalities out there. Mos def, Kweli, kanye, a lot of people could have tackled this issue without being as annoying

    11. what happened lupe?…i hope this album is actually good…because these singles are average and will definitely be forgotten a year now…definitely doesn’t have the longevity of ab-soul’s terrorist threats

    12. Thank goodness we have Lupe to balance out all the trash that comes out these days. Haven’t heard a song that was actually about something in quite a while. The concept of this song will be too much for most people to handle. Proof of this is the fact that most people who don’t like it say that the hook sucks. The hook? You know rap sucks when rappers are judged more by their hooks than their lyrics but this is what happens when rappers who barely can speak English are considered dope.
Here is the short and sweet. If you wanna here about a rapper speak on a subject that very much affects all of us then listen to this song. If you wanna stay in the fantasy world where everyone lives in the Club, throwin hunnids in the air, fuckin Bad Bitches and selling Tony Montana sized bundles of crack, well, MMG 2 dropped today and they are waiting to collect your dollars.

    13. I don’t understand why people dislike this song. Lupe even slowed down his flow and simplified the hook so you could follow along, yet you can’t fully grasp the concept.

      1. by “slowed down his flow” do you mean “turned his flow into straight garbage that doesn’t fit the beat?”

    14. Great song. For all yall out there dissing the people who don’t like the track. yall gotta remember this still music. It has to sound good. Pac was a genius because he combined a message with something you could actually enjoy listening to. Great message in this song but generic beat.

    15. I’ve been waiting for a song to address this. It’s been awhile, not since Pac’s “Wonda Why They Call U Bitch” has there been anything of that caliber, speaking to that issue specifically. This is a plus for Lupe, good music and original.

    16. I digs this. Idk why so much people are hating on this. Just because there’s no rims, cars, chains, A,B,C,D,E,F,G hooks, Lupe sucks?? Wow. Society is so deep into ignorance, the world may just end in 12/21/2012.

    17. This represents real Rap Skillz. Rapping about the social implications and dynamics between young men and women through the use of/ and prevelance the word Bitch in our music. Plus the beat is dope. POWERFUL MUSIC. This will never get played – its contradictory to any song that exsists in the main stream. Think about, what song gets played after this on the radio, Big Sean Ass Ass Ass? Good work Fiasco! Using your talent, platform to up lift the community.

      1. We’re all hypocrites to some degree – now separate the idea from the person. Is it still a good idea? Yes it is.

    18. Awesome concept that went over a lot of peoples’ heads, the whole point of the beat/flow etc is to imitate/mock that type of hip-hop.

    19. Hopefully niggas get it, but probably not!!!! We as African Americans are in such a bad place (as a whole) Ignorance is celebrated, how in the hell did that happen????????? People actually think the hood is where it’s good.. That’s gotta be the dumbs’t shit I ever heard in my life.

    20. The autotune “Bad bitches..bad bitches..bad bitches…” though…OMG.lol
Lupe the lyricist extraordinaire has solidified his spot in my Top 5 idc idc idc.

    21. This shit is knockin like a mug. Damn, Lupe. It sounds like you back on your F&L flow. Now all I need is for you to do a remix to this with David Banner and Kendrick Lamar. Fire!!!!

    22. The concept and lyrics were dope, but the song is hard on the ears…i can’t listen to it because of the delivery and beat…too annoying but still great concept

    23. u kno hip hop iz dun wen songs like these almos got tears in my ears caus i been so thirsty for sum water and da overwhelming happiness lupe has provided choked me up

    24. 7/10. Wack beat + wack flow takes away from the record. Inb4 lupe’s personal internet army replies.

      1. average flow, but for the new album Lupe really needs to hook up with some talented producers because he is doing his part of the deal… Kanye, Neptunes, Soundtrakk, No I.D. etc

    25. this beat wasn’t made for y’all to bump your head to. the flow and beat are under average because he’s emphasizing the lyrics.

that was the problem with Lasers yo! because the beats were so melodic and overbearing, nobody was listenin to what he’s saying. but here, the flow is forgettable, but there’s no excuse for you not to listen to what he’s saying. this is what I been bigging Lupe on from the start, his lyricism. 3.5/5, 4 maybe.

      1. the problem is never the quality of the beat. idiot. is about compatibility. the problem with lazers is that the beats didnt fit lupe. not that they were “too good” lol. no rappers say “yo, i just wrote the best hit ive ever written, give me a mediocre beat so that the lyrics stand out more”. lol. its about chemistry nigga. not quality.

      2. Jay-Z ft Eminem – Renegade: Great Beat, Great Lyrics, that’s were the best songs come from…

      3. Why was he able to have a dope flow while spitting great lyrics on his mixtapes, F&L and The Cool? You idiots already starting to lower the bar to set you up for the disappointment that this album is going to be. Having a bad flow because you’re trying to emphasize the lyrics? Fuck outta here. LOL. This is supposed to be a music and we have a right to expect better from Lupe, you want dope lyrics alone? You already lost for searching them in rap music, read some poetry.

      4. I didn’t say it was a dope song you fucking idiots. That’s why I gave it 4. And what’s the point of comparing it to renegade, you niggas always gott compare shit that’s apples and oranges

The flow is off because he makes you focus on the lyrics. Chemistry is important but it’s not required. It’s you butt niggas that expect everything leaked thru this site to be pristine.

    26. This joint is dooopee love the beat and the lyrics were naaassstyyy with a meaning..soo underrated

    27. not a bad concept by lupe, but i think wale’s “The Kramer” sums up the complex bitch meanings better.

    28. Wow. Lu is a fucking GENIUS…. PERIOD.. this is like dumb it down times 10! Play this on the fucking radio… NOT. they will never play this on the radio. keep the kids dumb as fuck with AHDD internet, twitter, fashion, bet, etc. fuck this world man. fuck it, its dyin anyways

      1. dude! wtf r u talking bout???? u prolly never lived in da hood or got money, so u think dat bs music is cool. u from some rich family who idea of da hood is a yo gotti video. smdh

    29. Ive been reading a lot of comments and most of them are saying that lupe did a great job hes just missing a flow. To be honest if lupe had a flow I guarantee u most of the people who wouldve heard this song wouldnt have understood it and it would have no chance of getting any radio play. Remember when he said “now I dont want to make it too complex”

      1. You are so right about the flow thing, I’m a lupe fiasco fan but I couldn’t stomach listing to freedom ain’t free (around my way)because of his flow. this is a great song and It’s done Skillfullly

    30. This is alright. Not lupes best. I swear though, Lupe Fiasco fans are some of the most sensitive, over protective, overhyping fans. They’re no different than ymcmb/Wayne fans. Difference is, the Wayne fans like a shitty rapper.

      1. tbh wayne fans, minus the obvious trolls, dont bother nobody. go on youtube and search any rap video and 90% of the top comments will be some shook ass bitch nigga dissing lil wayne. go 50 cent, good music, any “conscious” rapper and all those niggas are worried about is lil wayne and ymcmb. its just crazy to me that you’re trying to call out wayne fans when clearly the entire rap fan world is obsessed with him. shit is insane.

      2. ^ You’re completely right. These fans just listen to the music they like, it’s always the so-called heads who are all over Wayne’s shit, making him way better than he is.

    31. good concept i respect and salute him for the effort and his courage to b different but the flow is subpar the lyrics could be alot sharper and the beat is just plain wack. i kno lupe can do better than this. this sounds sloppy and rushed

    32. Black Thought or Pharoahe Monch would’ve executed this in much better fashion.

Lupe Fiasco as of late = Good ideas, horrible execution.

The music needs to take the first role and everything else comes afterwards, you just can’t put out terrible tracks for the sake of the concept.

This is similar to Nas’ ‘Who Killed It?’ in the way that they both came up with a pretty good concept, but the result is just underwhelming and barely listenable.

    33. Why is so many people dissing the flow?? This is storytelling at the highest level. First verse he talks about the boy, second verse about the girl, and the third about when they meet.

As for the beat, I think it was a clever choice. Usually when he tells a story like this usually it isnt uptempo (Intruder Alert, Streets on Fire for example). A positive message should not always be deep or too insightful. I can hype to this song because of the beat and message put together.

“Hoods where the heart is, nerds where the words from
      Don’t represent either, because I merged them”-Lupe

    34. some of you dumb fucks are too stupid to recognize that its satire (what does that mean Lu?) of the mainstreams perception of women (of color) hence the the simple flow and lex luger beat

      1. OMG! Thanks for clearing that up…I would’ve never put it together myself…

        Bottom-line, the execution wasn’t great.

      2. Who cares? It’s still a shitty track and one of Lu’s worst. People really trying to justify this with the idea behind it?

      3. if you have to over-explain a song or listen to it multiple times in order to enjoy it then the song is not good enough period.

      4. @2npac: bottom line is no one gives a fuck about your little sarcastic humor.

what the fuck u mean “music should speak for itself!?” I got it and some people are too slow to get it. U know how many times I go back and listen to Nas or Jay and get something new. Why the fuck do u think J cam out with Decoded? Bottom line is this song is fucking hard (to me) and no im not a lu stan. Its like niggas is scared of intelligent shit so they nit pick at it when you got waka, wayne, ross who have waaaaaay more flaws in their sound. niggas remain quiet on that tho…

    35. This is the best song I’ve heard from Lupe since “The Cool” album, it looks like Lupe is getting back to himself, which is great for us real hip-hop fans.

    36. Way more coherent then any mainstream garbage! Quality music! Mainstream cant digest this shit cause they used to eating that garbage everyday.

      1. Lupe is mainstream, you idiot. You just too dumb to get this whole ‘alternative’ marketing ploy.

      2. When I say mainstream I mean what the majority of people listen to and trust me its not Lupe its Wayne, Ross, and Wiz. When people listen to Lupe like they listen to those three then I will consider him mainstream, I never said he wasn’t a mainstream artist though.

      1. Yeah, but did u also read the comments at the end of the article. The writer had no idea how to even interpret the song, that is clear by the review. Spin needs to stop letting people who don’t understand and can’t interpret lyrics, tone, and other literary devices in hiphop do reviews.

    37. wasn’t feeling the beat but I think it was apart of the overall concept so im not mad at that. I liked the flow. Its not on the same level he usually raps on but it fits the concept of the song and the message he was trying to convey. hes talking about some real shit that’s going on right now. recognize.

    38. I am baffled by some of the comments on here. You like the concept but dont like the lyrics…WTF???? What he is talking about is REAL, how do you not like what is real? I can grasp disagreement on flow because that has nothing to do with content, more so delivery….smh come on people

      1. Nah these niggas will want every song leaked thru here to be top quality, top flow, everything. And as soon as one thing’s off they’ll compare it to a great song like Renegade to support their point

They oughta wake the fuck up. They expect too much outta hip hop, that’s why they cry hip hop is dead as soon as somethin they don’t like makes the airwaves

    39. What happened to this nigga makign singles like Daydreamin’ where the beat, lyrics and flow were great? You can clearly tell he lost the fun with it. He went from concious to lecturing.

      1. No its you butt niggas putting every fucking thing on a similar standard.

If you want flowy Lupe, go listen to his other shit. This wasn’t made to be flowy and it’s pretty apparent. But apparently you can guess what his mood is when he makes music. Lmao

      2. We’re putting it on a similar standard because he named it Food & Liquor 2 and said he WILL go back to the old Lupe. But keep forcing yourself to like even the most garbage tracks of your favorite rappers. You guys are the reason we getting this mediocre music now.

      3. I’m a big Lupe fan and I do like this song – but I also agree with the statement that he’s gone from conscious to lecturing. Not this song especially, because the song has a story/concept to it. But some of his other more recent songs…

      4. he didn’t say he will go back to the old Lupe. WHAT HE SAID WAS that he’s gonna make the music he always wanted for F&L2. he’s not gonna do it for the MTV crowd, and he’s not gonna do it for his hardcore fans. this project is for himself, the sound he wanted all along.

and don’t you fucking dare blame us for the mediocre music. you guys are the ones with ridiculous standards. fuck you and stop fretting so much over hip-hop. it’s not the end of the god damn world when a flow in a song is off

    40. Damn everyone wants lupe to rap like in F&L, you want to listen to the old’ lupe buy his old albums. This shit better than that wocka flocka or 2 chainz shit!!! Appreciate the few true hip hop artist in da game, and don’t hate an artist for going commercial neither, he/she just trying to eat. Put yourself in these artist’s position!

    41. Asalaam Alayikum to the brother Lupe this wasnt a good track yall trippin smh from the concepts to the beat was good F&L2 will be an classic #Allahuakbar good job and great message

    42. I honestly hate lupe fans. Most pseudo-genius wanna beeez on the planet. Let the song be what it is… an enlightening song with a dope beat… what else can you ask for!?

    43. Great concept…but this beat sounds like a young money beat….Lupe is dope but deserves better production

      1. You use that type of beat to get the message across. It just shows how crazy of a rapper he is. He didn’t use the flow every rapper darn near uses for this drum beat.

      1. Im sorry that the only music that your fucking styupid ass brain listens too is from your good old freindly dum ass fuk rappers YMCMB MMG SUKABAGOFDICKS

      2. Im sorry that the only music that your fucking styupid ass brain listens too is from your good old freindly dum ass fuk rappers SUKABAGOFDICKS

    44. Whoever keeps saying Lupe has bad execution is obviously the same person. The word you’re looking for is delivery. Nobody says execution. Get your hip-hop jargon up. Proves my point, trolls just keep leaving negative comments to attack Lupe’s credibility. Smh.

    45. tru………………………………………………………………………………….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    46. Touche Lupe good shit your ignorant and feebleminded fools if you can’t comprehend the message dumb niggaz wanna here the dumb shit.

    47. This is real shit but I can’t ride to this Lol..

      Still 5 stars for content..

p.s. I know some real bitches that need to be called bitches.

    48. man i give this guy mad credit for puting a song like this out,in a time where wrong is right and right is called wrong, I RESPECT THAT

    49. This song oughta make niggas step their game up and make them come up with more thought provoking material. Lupe Fiasco is to my generation what Nas was to the previous. Remember when Nas came out with Illmatic and that inspired Eminem (listen to Infinite)? Lupe’s favorite album was It Was Written. That album inspired him. But enough with comparing and contrasting because this song consummate brilliance in it’s own right and that’s why I am giving it a five.

    50. This is fucking brilliant in a world where bitch is used by people so nonchalantly he is able to throw a big fuck you to all those fake ass bitches(LIL WAYNE) and stand up for women

    51. Good song because it fits Lupe’s style and satisfies his fans along with having a current hip-hop sound to it.

    52. I really fuck with this song alot…but i also agree with the fact that the word “bitch” should be used to stress and emphasize whatever it is you are rapping about, just like any other curse word that even the best rappers use. MOst of these ignorant rappers use the word “bitch” so outa context that it just solidifies the fact that they dont really have much lyrical content

    53. lupe…………. you are literally saving hip hop!!!!!do what your doing man….smh,,, you have more content and skills than the whole rap game combined

    54. “They oughta wake the fuck up. They expect too much outta hip hop, that’s why they cry hip hop is dead as soon as somethin they don’t like makes the airwaves”

@ETK…that is so true, hip hop is not life and death nor a source of substance.

    55. “We’re putting it on a similar standard because he named it Food & Liquor 2 and said he WILL go back to the old Lupe. But keep forcing yourself to like even the most garbage tracks of your favorite rappers. You guys are the reason we getting this mediocre music now.”

he didn’t say he will go back to the old Lupe. WHAT HE SAID WAS that he’s gonna make the music he always wanted for F&L2. he’s not gonna do it for the MTV crowd, and he’s not gonna do it for his hardcore fans. this project is for himself, the sound he wanted all along. look it up

and don’t you fucking dare blame us for the mediocre music. you guys are the ones with ridiculous standards, zeroing on every single problem when a song is leaked through here. stop fretting so much over hip-hop. it’s not the end of the god damn world when a flow in a song is off and it’s pretty clear the focus here are the LYRICS

      1. With this record, I just wanted to go back to the essence of what made that record so special, the Chicago rhymer told Fuse. The musicality that was on Food & Liquor that the original hardcore Lupe fans appreciated, we put it on this record, but to the tenth power.

      2. It’s the Lupe Fiasco that I want to be without the industry constraints, without trying to please the hardcore fans or the new fans, he explained.”

        WHAT. WHAT.

    56. damn hip hop needed a song like this. this is definitely a nice cold glass of water in the middle of all the bullshit liquor that we’ve been gettin from hip hop lately. good job lupe, nicely done….

    57. Some of y’all are stupid as fuck. That is why hiphop is dying and Black culture can’t advance. Because we are to lazy to think. I hate dumbass Black people.

      1. stop projecting your own issues onto black people. you dont speak for black people. YOU can’t advance. YOU’RE a too lazy to think. projecting is the most basic coping mechanism for people with nothing to contribute.

    58. HOW TO LOVE BY WAYNE IS A MUCH BETTER SONG THAN THIS SHIT. WHAT HAPPEN TO LUPE FLOW THIS SHIT IS TRASH

      1. Seems like you just don’t look hard enough. Hip hop isn’t dead there are plenty of good rappers out there.

    59. We get it Lupe, you’re a conscious rapper. What the fuck happened to the dude from the Enemy of the State tape? You know, the one where everybody said “He’s back”. Then he hits us with
Lasers, a HUGE disappointment. And now…now this shit? Let me clarify that I’m a huge Lupe fan, but he’s reaching with this one. Perceived misogyny in hip-hop is an important issue, and I understand what it is he’s trying to do–but this is Food and Liquor 2 we’re talking about, it’s not Lasers or some other bullshit side track. Food and Liquor 2 has to live up. If Lupe’s going to deliver a message like this it AT LEAST needs to be up to par with “he say she say” from the first F&L. Hate away, that’s just my opinion.

      1. I think u can’t really judge this song for the sound u personally want to hear on Food n Liquor 2. When the whole artwork is released this may fit in with the rest of his new work, or it may not. But until then a single should be judged for what it is, nothing more nothing less.

      2. You either completely misunderstood what I’m saying, or you’re saying “STFU & GTFO” to everyone who doesn’t like it. If you have a actual argument I’ll listen. If you just keep hitting me with high school text lingo then I’ll assume you’re too fucking stupid to construct a sentence. Listen to music, don’t just hear it.

      3. “You either completely misunderstood what I’m saying, or you’re saying “STFU & GTFO” to everyone who doesn’t like it. If you have a actual argument I’ll listen. If you just keep hitting me with high school text lingo then I’ll assume you’re too fucking stupid to construct a sentence. Listen to music, don’t just hear it.”

        Hahahahahahahahahahaha women!

    60. This is not about conscious rap or what not. The is about using music to teach a misconception. As an artist i appreciate what Lupe has done in this song.

      1. people have alot higher standard for a guy in lupe’s position than simply using music to teach people. so does blue clues. this is a music business. he is a respected artist. you should have higher expectations than simply “:its a good message therefore the song is good”. he is an artist. respect him enough to expect more from him and criticize him constructively.

      2. Its also part of the artistry of the song to not use the best beat of rap with the best possible rhythm. So obviously people are not understanding that…Soooooooo…how the fu*k can you get mad at his fans for schooling the people who are criticizing the song on the basis that it doesn’t “sound” good????

      3. also yea he could of done better in terms of maybe picking another beat or something..but c’mon man..let the man live. Decent song.

    61. this song is confusing as fuck. i love lupe and i think this idea is cool as fuck. just wish the lyrics were a bit better

    62. those who say this is not a good song or it’s inconsistent obviously don’t get the message of the song…this is Lupe at his best sending a message!

    63. The difference between this and old Lupe is the fact that he used to fit real messages in to dope music but now he just seems focused on the message, which I can’t knock but the sound is still a vital component in all music and this track is only good in that department.

    64. Lupe is over a lot of peoples heads. The song itself is a meaning. This is why Lupe sometimes has to dumb it down for you guys. Really need to listen to the song more then once.

    65. Lupe is nice really his style is sick the content is even better . I Lot of Mc’s can learn a lot about dope from this guy being clever and not all that igger and itch stuff . Learn about Willie lynch and most wouldn’t call ourselves that any more. Well anyway lupe 5 mics for this cut .

    66. content is on point…lyrics are on point to…just rhyme pattern is a bit strange. not his best…but his worst would still be far above average…i love how it ends..im killin these bitches!! play on words has always been a strong suit for lupe..like gotta eat

    67. Sense is returning to hip hop. We need to champion more artists like Lupe instead of all the bogus, fake gangsta, disrespectful, syrup slurping b.s.

    68. It’s a good song and I like the content but it doesn’t seem like it should be an album song, never mind a single.

Should just be a song released to the web

      1. I used to think that…but Lupe fans are just as worse, just in a different manner. For the most part they think are smarter than everybody else because they listen to him.

      2. ^on that basis, Nas fans would be the worst

and trying to categorize fanbases is stupid anyway… dickriders of any kind can be annoying, whether some underground prodigy or a mainstream dunce

      3. ^ lol yeah you right about that

that is the problem, you can categorize fanbases in hip hop. Underground or mainstream, pick a side. Their is a lack of objectivity in hip hop.

      4. “Better” and “Worse” are subjective. It’s ironic that you’re asking for objectivity while asking a subjective question.

      5. You dudes must be retarded if you think this isn’t good…Who do you listen to??? Then I might understand why you cant comprehend why the song is good

    69. eh when i listen to lupe i feel like he is lacking something like some sort of venom or emotion in his words. The lyrics good just need a better delivery for a better impact i guess

      1. Why is he an idiot now, he’s making a valid point…he’s not dissing Lupe but acknowledging he’s a good lyricist, and as truthful as this song is, somehow someway the words lack that venomous emotion a 2Pac or Scarface would deliver

maybe its the beat, may it the delivery i don’t know but i agree with the comment …. not all his songs though, as there are that carry alot of emotion but this one just doesn’t

    70. Anon: “With this record, I just wanted to go back to the essence of what made that record so special, the Chicago rhymer told Fuse. The musicality that was on Food & Liquor that the original hardcore Lupe fans appreciated, we put it on this record, but to the tenth power.”

oh reaaaally. well this is an excerpt from Lupe

“It’s the Lupe Fiasco that I want to be without the industry constraints, without trying to please the hardcore fans or the new fans, he explained. Its just what I would do for myself if nobody ever heard it. This is the kind of music I would make. Its a masterpiece…”

WHAT. What you got now. stop fucking comparing this to F&L or saying some bullshit like “oh it needs to live up to..” foh with that shit

      1. if I was a stan I would’ve gave this a 5, and I’d be linking you MFers to rapgenius.com where they already decoded the lyrics out… no I just read this interview(the excerpt) months before the first single dropped

      2. well, lupe is exactly like his idol nas and contradicts himself in every interview, so idgaf. i’m sure you and lupe will blame this huge disappointment on atlantic. this nigga lost it. deal with it. like he was forced by his label to make lasers, only to put out the exact same shit with fotp with a small improvement on the lyrical aspect.

      3. who the fuck are you to tell me what i have to compare and what not? fuck outta here, you disgusting ass cum guzzler.

      4. Take the tampon out of your ass, nigga. If you wanna compare shit only to bitch and bitch, talk about how niggas lost it and pass it off as fact, then go right ahead. Then you’ll either hear something nice from Lupe and jump right back on his dick. Or big another rapper till he does something off and you gon preach he lost it too.

Contradicting themselves? God damn, what an idiot

      5. you’re a fucking loser, man. i’m sure lupe knows the expectations he has set by naming his album the sequel to “food and liquor”. and those who know what he’s capable of will always hold him to higher standard.

      6. Yeah ill be the loser in this one. Please

You want your connection to food & liquor? Most of the lyrics referenced part of what he talked about in Hurt Me Soul. It’s that simple but hey, if you’re a fan its normal to hold a higher standard but it’s another thing to disregard things and not look at them objectively

Niggas still don’t like the beat here, would have they preferred some of that dub step-synthetic chorus shit… PROLLY not

    71. some ish im readin on here yo if you wanna hear that sick flow go listen to kendrick lamar or wale spittin a milli a minute but dey ain’t all gotta b like that

lyrics took me off-guard… Lupe is the man

    72. can sumone explain y this wont b heard on da radio or nas song bot daughters…i thought black radio was for da upliftment of da black community by promoting positivity.

    73. I get tired of Lupe stans saying “it goes over your head”. People will say anything to make themselves seem better than others. Its not the fact that people arent smart enough understand, its about the amount of interest.

How about actually doing the things he rhymes about and uplift people who do not know.

      1. Interest is directly related to complexity, among other things when it comes to music. Some people are content with “Boyfriend”, while others need Aesop Rock’s abstract borderline gibberish.

Saying “it goes over your head” is directly saying its either beyond your interest or beyond your immediate perception. It has less to do with intelligence than it does cognitive awareness.

If you feel that way, then maybe you have problems of your own. :/

      2. I’m saying, if you feel that they are implying that they’re better than you from that; then you have problems, because it in no way means you are less.

        Follow your own advice.

      3. What? I’m not talking about them feeling like they are better than me. What I’M SAYING is people who usually say “it goes over your head” say it just to make themselves feel superior (I get it you dont), but dont even take the time to educate. And that is the real message Lupe is trying to say overall. Uplift people instead of looking down.

To make myself clear, I have no problem at all sir when it comes to self-esteem.

      4. You have a problem with people using the phrase to make themselves superior to you or anyone else, correct? You should know that no man is superior to any other, so it shouldn’t phase you.

But I suppose I agree with your sentiment.

    74. It’s ok nothing to get excited about i find around my way to be 10x better at least he put effort into that record this not so much, sounds like southern trap music which i hate

      1. I’m pretty sure you missed the point of the song. HE styled the song this way to make it catchy, how about you pay attention to what he’s saying in the verse and you’ll understand the genius.

      1. lupe can drop horrible songs and his stans will still act like it’s the greatest thing an mc has ever done. just like these ridiculous nas dickriders.

      2. It’s your opinion and I respect that. Though horrible is a strong word, especially when associated with a message that is dead on in the black culture.

      3. stans huh? sorry but he got plenty of shit for his last album, and mixed reactions for his following mixtape, so your assessment is not true

you’re just someone else who uses the bullshit stans excuse to build your opinion

    75. Definitely not his best.. Lupe in a lot of ways reminds me of mos def. They are always dope but the never take it to the next level that you know they have. Its like how lebron was with getting a ring.. at what point to you just start snapping.. we know your potential is there and even though lupes mediocre shit is dope.. when we he just start rapping from his heart and stop being so intellectual. emotion vs. intelligence . he does need a healthy balance

      1. It could be that he is not wired that way.

How about being so profound to an issue, regardless of emotion, that it still speaks to the soul.

For instance, He Say She Say almost brought me to tears. A rap song has never done that with me.

    76. Anyone else think he’s styling himself off of Lil Wayne with his flow on this song? I personally love it. Not just cause it gives it a subversive edge, but also because its nice to see Lupe play around with another style besides his usual hyper-meticulous style.

    77. Its smarter to make a simple catchy song with a positive message. Why? The folks who already listen to complex, conscientious music dont NEED positive messages. They already get it. Im hoping some misogynistic kid thinks this is a Rick Ross type song but instead becomes hooked to “Bitch bad, Woman Good”. Beat the message into his head. Make him learn

      1. I think the nail’s been hit on the head. I just hope he has a Dumb It Down type track or two – one with some crazy complex lyricism.

    78. He had to dumb this down for the newcomers. He had more possibilities with his capability to get it in like usual but I get it and love it just the same as ever. Respect

    79. Mann, even some of my friends need to listen to this song! It’s frustrating to rap with them, one in particular, whose mind can’t transcend the ways he has been “taught” to rap. Furthermore, the ways that we have been trained to think. Come to Flint, and you will see plenty of the girls described in this song, that identify themselves as “bad bitches”. No shame.

    80. Lupe trolling the hip-hop community, absolute genius song. The trap beat, the lazy flow, the Rozay-style hook…he’s sending a message with this song by imitating rozay, southern trap music, lil wanye flow, it’s not some radio hit. Pure Genius

    81. The song has a very specific agenda..you’re a fool if you think Lupe is “really” flexing his “musical” skill.

    82. such a good conceptual track. Most of you dumb motherfuckers probably have no idea what message Lupe is trying to convey through his music.

    83. Lupe fiasco this song is nice. But on a whole you just try so hard to sound like KANYE flow and Mos def content.
      Im bored.

    84. tbh one lupe song on HHDX makes the comments get better. And to the idiot that said this is a Kaye flow…. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD YE RAP? Nothing like this

      1. he had the talent and was on the right path, but damn, you can’t compare these two. nas been in the game for 20 years and is STILL dropping fire. let’s see what lupe does in 4 or 5 years, he’s already starting to fall off.

    85. He just dumbed it down for you fools. Ha ha. DOPE. It’s a three and half, but gave it a five for the hate.

    86. This ain’t the best song, but freedom ain’t free gives me hope for the new food n liquor, the first one is a classic along with the cool, but I didn’t even cop lasers cuz it ain’t the lupe I like

    87. Wow!! Lyrics, point, integrity, substance, Youngin be loosing me a little wit the techno shit but his best songs are better then anybodies

    89. Ever since I heard the uncensored version of T.I.’s song new song “Love This Life “(got the word “Bitch” in the hook of the song) I stopped liking it. Gotta stop demeaning our females, man.

    90. I love the fact he’s doing something different..only problem is he sounds so uninspired now, like ever since he went through that shit with the labels it’s more like a job to him now, but idk what y’all think?

    91. this doesnt sound like the lupe i like im looking for the that 2006 2007 lupe this sound like something any rapper today would rap over

      1. That’s the point. Stylistically, it’s a parody of current hip-hop songs (Waka Flocka, Gucci etc.) but content-wise it has a message… It’s intentional. I don’t see how you don’t hear that…

      1. Pretty sure he won Grammy Rap Album of the Year for one of his first 2 albums, maybe even both

      2. For The Cool he was nominated for 4 Grammys and won 1. And he was also nominated for 3 Grammys for Lasers..

    92. the misunderstanding of different interpretations causes 2 concepts of being a bad bitch. Really saying being a Bad Bitch is being a woman, so dressing sexy instead of decent is a bitch bad moment.

      1. how the fuck is F&L2 supposed to sound when it ain’t come out yet

lemme guess, something amazing and similar sounding to F&L1 but better, right? c’mon

    93. Lupe Fiasco is a boss. If you like lupe also check out UK rapper Akala. Dude spits on the real even more than lupe

    94. OK, this is CRAZY right here!!! And the sad part is very few will get the message, if they even make it past the first verse. Lupe should do a remix of this with Nas. This is right up dude’s alley right about now.

      1. @The guy who said Nas is selling out, Nas has been making the same music since Stillmatic, (with the exception of the self titled album in 2008), he’s doing the opposite of selling out. Daughters, The Don, & Nasty are all classic singles, listen to the album before you say hes sellng out.

    95. Lupe Fiasco is hands down the best right now….only ones close is Nas and Blu.

    99. Great song, great meaning, great beat, Lupe is outstanding with his lyrics, and he is extremely right with rappers calling women bitches.

      1. I used to hate hip-hop… yup, because the women degraded
But Too $hort made me laugh, like a hypocrite I played it
A hypocrite I stated, though I only recited half
Omittin the word “bitch,” cursin I wouldn’t say it

      1. musical intuition.. nigga you worse than a damn food critic

the one thing Lupe’s always gotten co-signed on from day 1 was his lyrics. he delivered here. what’s this shit bout some damn ‘musical intuition’ now… he ain’t no kanye. he delivered where it counts

      2. Maybe I was expecting too much, but I was always listening to Lupe because he fused his lyrics with perfectly appealing soundscapes. That was always the difference between him and most other rappers with a lyrical focus to me.

    102. lupe is someone whose in this game rapping about something that the people he need to reach can’t even relate. that’s because he isn’t talking about cars all all that, but he is. this is genious here. that’s all can say lol

    107. Fucking Lupe, man ! I had this concept and was already working on my version, but he beat me to it. Props though, but IMO he shoulda gone with a more contemporary style of approach(more in correspondence to the swaggish movement)to reach more of the younger people, it sounds more like he’s trying to please his old fans. A new generation is running hip hop nowadays, so I feel he should’ve appealed more to them. He has a double album full of songs he can use to appeal to his older hardcore fans, but whatever man. This new generation needs help, they’re all going to a new lower level of hell x( Lupe needs a song like Superstar, a big single that a lot of people can relate to. Then more people will notice good songs of his like this.

      1. So you want him to switch up his style to appeal to a new younger generation of hip hop? New hip hop is dumbed down and ignorant, which is not Lupe’s style..Hes puttin out shit that HE thinks is hot, not trying to please a younger fan base

      2. In my honest opinion lupe kills it on the old and new stuff, I just seem to have better liking of the older stuff produced, and I thought about this b4 typing this but the fact remains the same like with a ton of other artists. One thing i can say is he is real and puts out good faith and not fake s*it, Old school with the cool album and lasers straight up killed it with the words i never said and out of my mind tracks. I know if I am going to jump on the floor and dance lupe causes that; no fake shit new hip hop like we hear now. Thats my word hate it or live it up pz

    108. How some people gonna say lupe ain’t deliver…when in the first few bars he says he is not gonna make it to complex so everybody can understand the message in the song?

“The little boy meets one of those little girls
And he thinks she a bad bitch and she thinks she a bad bitch
He thinks disrespectfully, she thinks of that sexually
She got the wrong idea, he dont wanna fuck her
He thinks shes bad at being a bitch like his mother
Momma never dress like that, come out the house, hot mess like that
      Ass, titties, dress like that
All out to impress like that
Just like that, you see the fruit of the confusion
He caught in a reality, she caught in an illusion
Bad mean good to her, she really nice and smart
But bad mean bad to him, bitch dont play your part
But bitch still bad to her if you say it the wrong way
But she think she a bitch, what a double entendre.”

      He delivered

    109. This nigga took a trap beat and turned it into a concept record. Great! And you gotta agree with what he’s saying on this track too.

    110. i like the statement lupe made in this one of the few artist that would do a song like this
check this rapper out he’s coming up:

    113. got love for lupe.. but for real. This shit is corny as fuck. Not a real earth-shattering insight that he presents here. I like the ideas behind most of his records.. but some of the rhymes and delivery on here are nothing but sub-par. Trying too hard on the conscious shit, when it’s forced it never comes off as good

      1. ^^ says the sad dickrider that can’t deal with criticism.

well, how about letting real fans voice their opinion?

      2. Real fans….. Fuck outta here and wash your ass

    116. OMG SOOOOO GOOD!!! BEST SONG EVER

for real, i love lupe, but cmon.. this song isn’t doing it for me, the delivery is weak, and its like he talking, not flowing. its not bad, but lupes definitely got better songs

    117. I have a feeling that Lupe makes these kind of songs so he can reach simple minded people and send the same messages that he is sending when he goes on his lyrical shit

    118. Dope. Hopefully he does with this album what he should’ve done from the beginning: HIM aka not catering to the radio.

Definitely top 10 lyricist, and if he gets on his shit and focuses on making that classic he’s capable, he can move to that top 5 status. Jay-Z wasn’t wrong in wanting to collab with him on his debut (a rare thing for non-Roc alumni).

    119. Peace to the Five Percenters, online engine inventors

      Stay

Even though I dont like you, next Friday night cant wait to fight you
Locked up I would knife you, dont fuck with you
Last month I even bucked at you, you got locked
I felt bad, wait, do I got love for you?
I might kill you, but do I got love for you?
I want you dead under 6 feet of soil
At the same time, want you here to witness me while you in misery
We hate each other, but its love, what a thug mystery
Years ago they ate the heart of a slain enemy
We enemies, but your hatred could never enter me
Some seek fame cause they need validation
Some say hatin is confused admiration
Spotlight on me, I still look twenty
Still get money, lady killer pushin a Bentley

    121. NIGGAS GET SENSITIVE WHEN PEOPLE CHECK WHATS WRONG AND GO AGAINST IT. CALL IT PREACHING WHATEVER YOU WANT..PLAIN AND SIMPLE ITS REAL TALK.. LUPE GOT INTEGRITY UNLIKE MOST OF THESE RAPPERS. RESPECT. IF U DONT RESPECT IT YO ASS IS PROBABLY IGNORANT TOO

      1. stop these deadbeat arguments, lupe ain’t got no integrity, he would’ve never released lasers if so. and don’t come with that “he was forced” bullshit, he signed the contract to get fame or was he too dumb to comprehend it?

      1. bro. he was not dissing 2chainz. he was just saying chainz newest song is very average and unoriginal. just like the commercial rap game.

      2. He also stated that the music was on point…he was simply referring to the lack of substance in the lyrics of a lot of songs. He wasn’t dissin beats

      3. Lupe went over yur head with this one. The beat is supposed to be an ironic poke at the type of rappers that he’s criticizing & it will also get the type of ppl that listen to that type of muzik to listen to this! What a double entendre!

    122. I can’t wait to see a video for this. I hope it flows well with the song. I can imagine it being black & white
