Fire. J.Cole’s one of the most consistent best rappers of our generation. I’ve got around 130 songs for him, which is most of his stuff, and you can tell by listening that he’s been making good shit, but it’s only gonna get better. He’s only gonna improve and learn and make better music.
Not to mention, relative music. The type of shit that makes you feel smarter after listening to one of his tracks.
I ain’t dickriding, I’m a hiphop head with a large intolerance for shitty, irrelevant music. And Cole seems to be doing the best job keeping me happy.

To those who think that Cole’s album was worse than his mixtapes, no it wasn’t. His mixtapes just had that classic feel cause he wasn’t trying so hard to do something new, and he had nothing to lose.
The beats on his album though, is where he tried to develop his sound and production to another level. Most of his album beats sound new to us; some of us can adapt to change and some of us can’t. That’s the problem with hiphop, everybody’s looking for classics, but they can’t accept that times have changed. Don’t get me wrong, shit, I strongly believe that hiphop was more straightforward, cut-through-the-bullshit back in the day.
But you can’t hate on the lyrical content of.. Dollar & A Dream 3, Lights Please, Sideline Story, Lost Ones, Rise & Shine, Breakdown, and the summertime beats of Work Out and Can’t Get Enough, and the hard beats like Cole World and God’s Gift..
Anyways at the end of the day, everyone’s got their own taste in music. Some like the intellectuals, some like the beats, some like the “I’m better than you” raps, and some just appreciate good music.
