The hip hop tandem Das Efx is a lot like Guess Jeans and Converse: no matter how far they’re left behind by the latest trends, they always seem to keep coming back. Das, a popular early 90’s act with novel hits like “The Want Efx” and “Mic Checka,” made a not-so-triumphant return in 1998. Don’t sweat it though. You weren’t the only one who missed the first comeback attempt.

Ever resilient, Drayz and Skoob are trying yet again with How We Do, and this time the 40-bars-per-second rappers are leaving the gimmicky fliggety flows behind. (Thank you, UTR PR department!) Cuts like “Memories” and “Diggy Das,” instead, make obvious nods to Roc-A-Fella and Dip Set, borrowing as many soul samples as possible. On “BSAP” and the buoyant title cut, a nice, club-inspired vibe is created.

Everywhere else Das merely belts out cautionary warnings to would-be threats and ill-informed folk who thought the duo had disappeared. But wait a second. Aren’t these the same two cats who used to impersonate the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in their sewer-dwelling days? Get iggety outta here with all that tough talk.
