Rick Ross – God Forgives, I Don’t

To rightfully misquote one of Rick Ross’ earliest supporters, the Miami rapper has largely shed his initial caricature as a dope boy to become not simply a businessman, but a business [man]. In the process, he has ascended into Hip Hop’s top tier, a calculated move that comes deservedly given successful growth not only from a financial standpoint, but also as an artist. God Forgives, I Don’t reflects this progress, in a manner that only Rozay could provide.

    One couldn’t speak of his latest effort without first mentioning “Sixteen,” an eight-minute escapade that features the elusive yet incomparable presence of Andre 3000. Over smooth, melodic synths, Ross reveals bars of a better life while Three Stacks serves up three verses worth of contemplation that will have your head on a lyrical swivel. Intricately ignoring the standards of a formulaic Rap record, it’s a riveting performance that would make even the biggest Ross skeptic give an approving nod. A man who’s known for great excess, “Presidential” focuses on his penchant for self-worth and the women who benefit from it. With Pharrell Williams lending his signature Neptunes sound and Elijah Blake handling falsetto duties admirably, Ross is on cloud nine as he glides through the opulent production with a girl in one hand and a rack in the other. Still, even as Ross builds his stock portfolio brick by brick, he’s comfortable and (more importantly) sincere enough to revisit his past with clarity. On the soulfully somber cut “Ashamed,” he raps;

“Went from walking on gravel, now I’m riding on vogues / 50 M’s in the bank, I get me 200, I’m gone / Still so close to the hood, I’m ashamed to say / All the money in the world can’t take this pain away / It’s just another story at the campfire / Court side seats with the franchise / I think about my niggas doing 25 / Shining bright, who am I for you to criticize?”

Highlights aside, Rozay’s most dependable assets on God Forgives, I Don’t fittingly become his Maybach Music Group cohorts. Whether it’s Wale partnering on the sexually connotative yet provocative “Diced Pineapples,” or Omarion’s bellowing hook throughout the distant “Ice Cold,” their unique approach compliment Ross’ grandiose style. With that said, by no means are these records made in the same vein as the Self Made compilations, as Ross firmly takes the reins in each instance. Such is the case with “So Sophisticated,” which sounds like a beat tailor-made for Meek Mill’s shout-first delivery, and he boastfully delivers accordingly. However, his verse pales in comparison to Ross’ as he verbally rips on foes who could only dream of his stature (“You wanna be the hottest, but that shit get complicated / I pull your card, I know you’re pussy by your conversation / Show you the safe you’ll have to kill me for the combination / Made another two milli just off the compilation”).

For those following Ross’ career since his earlier days, the “Maybach Music” series has been a staple for flashy features met with prolific production, a combination no self-respecting Rap fan could resist. Flipping the script this time around, Ross tackles the fourth installment solo (with Ne-Yo as his hook wingman), meddling with J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League’s marvelous backdrop like it was his birthright. Ironically, the go-to track for star power on God Forgives, I Don’t turns out to be impressive in name only rather than in execution. Aptly titled “3 Kings,” Ross, Jay-Z and Dr. Dre churn out arrogant verses that feel carelessly put together, with Hov needlessly rambling about his daughter at the end of the record (any guesses as to who wrote Dre’s?). Alas, Jake One’s magnificent production goes unfulfilled. Things hit a wall sonically on “Hold Me Back” and “911.” The first detraction is the vast similarities in the sound of the production; “911” essentially comes off as a stripped-down version of its predecessor, which wasn’t impressive in the first place. Next up is the lyricism, with pompous lines like, “How we rose from the sewers / Funny now I’m the shit” and “If I die tonight I know I’m coming back nigga / Reincarnated, big black fat nigga” awkwardly settling in, as if he’s actually impressed by his wittiness. Ross definitely stepped up his rhymes for this album, but these records would have you think otherwise.

Bold and indulgent, God Forgives, I Don’t embodies why Rick Ross has become a fixture that listeners can depend on, as well as an executive who can strategize success for not only himself but others around him. “It takes a boss to know a boss,” L.A. Reid states at the end of “Maybach Music IV.” Five albums in, there’s no disagreement here.

    1. people are gonna hate just because it’s rick ross and he was a corrections officer. But when you listen to the album, it’s undeniable that it’s a great album.

      1. How the fuck can you say that the album undeniablly is good? What kind of dumb shit is that? I’m not a Ross fan nor a hater but there is a thing called opinion. People have different tastes and what you may think is great might not be to someone else. At the end of the day you can’t prove who’s right and who’s wrong.

Answer me this though, if Ross wasn’t considered a hot fixture in the game today would you “undeniablly” call the album good or as good? If perhaps ppl in your enviroment didn’t enjoy his music would you?

Popularity effects ppls minds, in one way or another. Same way people will justify hate for an artists just cuz they’re popular.

      1. Even Ross knows this ain’t better than Life Is Good….or Live From The Underground…or Stoned Immaculate…or Rugby Thompson…or Bricks In My Backpack 3…I could go on but you should be getting the picture.

      2. Why do niggaz say gay shit? Come on Donte grow the fuck up. And I’m anonymous who said stop talking out your ass. which you still are.

    2. Not a bad album but I agree about the repetitive sound. I think if it was a little shorter the tracks would stand out more and it’d be a more solid overall album.

    3. Every song is trying to get radio play.. Sixteen is the best track but because of the production and Andre 3000 more than anything. It’s an OKAY album if I just want to listen to radio plays all day.. 2/5

    4. This was one of the most BORING albums by Rick Ross. He will never drop a album like “Port of Miami” anymore, that was a good album, but this was ‘meh’.

    5. Why does HHDX even use a rating when it clearly represents nothing. Anything with equal ratings should be comparatively close in terms of overall quality, this album was not close to Life Is Good, which was rated 4/5 by HHDX, but higher on average by the people. It’s obvious from listening to the album, and hopefully anyone on this site bought and listened to Life Is Good as well, and noticing the public opinion, that it’s a very average album which I’d personally give 2.8/5, it’s not a 2, but below the average 3/5.

    6. Haters The Notorious R.I.C.K. R.O.S.S. is back and better then your hero. I don’t give a fuck if he is fake. Is Nas real? Did 2Pac sell drugs or was in a gang? Is Ice Cube a gangtser? These are all phonies and who gives a fcuk.

      1. the ‘fake’ argument is pretty stupid because that means most of those people think every other rapper besides Rick Ross has been completely real in their music.

what’s most embarassing for Ross is just how he denied the C.O. shit when it came out and made him look stupid.

    7. DX RATED THIS SHIT 4/5 LIKE THE NAS ALBUM ??? SERIOUSLY ??

      FUCK OUTTA HERE

THIS FUCKIN ALBUM DESERVES NOTHIN BUT A 2/5

      1. NAS IS A POPSTAR AND AN UGLY ONE WITH A MOLE…ON THE OTHER HANDTHAT NIGGA ROSS NICE AND WAY MORE SEXIER THAN NAS

    8. Its a good album, i am feeling pirates,3 kings, sixteen, ashamed…rozay does not disappoint once again, even though teflon don is a better album

    9. there is only one way this should get same rating as Life is Good..i nas was 4/5 for a RAP album and rozay 4/5 for a hip-hop mainstream album.. 2 different categories/ genres so not comparable..

      1. rap and hip hop are not 2 different genre’s of music. i hate when people say that shit. hip hop is the culture, rap is the vocal expression of the culture. one of the 4 elements. there’s no hip hop music AND rap music, rap IS hip hop music. break dancing is the physical expression, tagging (graffiti) is the visual expression.

    10. THE REVIEWER PROBABLY BOOTLEGGED THE ALBUM BEFORE IT WAS RELEASED LIKE THE REST OF US. SHIT COMES OUT TOMORROW

    11. THE REVIEWER PROBABLY BOOTLEGGED THE ALBUM BEFORE IT WAS RELEASED LIKE THE REST OF US. SHIT COMES OUT TOMORROW says:

      BOSS

    12. Why you shouldn’t take hiphopdx reviews serious anymore ? They gave both life is good and this piece of garbage 4 and yet vaguely alchemists russian roulette gets a 4.5.
I mean russian roulette was aight , but a 4.5 ? it’s so obvious hhdx is riding alchemist dick. This album has only 2-3 listenable tracks while i couldn’t escape a SINGLE track on life is good.

i guess it’s safe to say your editors doesn’t have a slight taste of what good music really is.

      1. It’s decent Not a big fan iof ross the lyricist but I am a big fan of ross the artist, he can pick a beat with the best in the industry. The feature were pretty decent too, Although Omarion sings through his nose & wale has the same flow on almost every song he’s on. But this cd is on Par with Big K.R.I.T.’s Live from the Underground. Def Jam has 3 of the biggest releases this year in Nas, K.R.I.T. & Ross.

    13. a haters life is boring, its lame to be that angry all the time without havin a real and a own opinion

    14. thank you hhdx for giving an honest, non-biased review. This album is a solid listen. i admit it becomes over saturated in luxury at times, but the album will keep your attention throughout. Good solid 4 album.

    15. how are you gonna put this in the same rating as Life Is Good and Channel Orange, at least nas and frank ocean put some real work on their albums. you can tell Ross wasnt even goin in on any of these songs

    16. This shit is garbage, don’t even need to listen to the album more than once. I would say 3 good songs, pirates, sixteen, and the one with nas

    17. 4/5 Very solid album, it’s very long & has too many songs. Wale & Stalley have been dumbed down but one constant remains & that is Ross can still pic a beat! 3/4 of this album has stellar production. His bars add nothing new.

    18. I have a question. How is it that Rick Ross is getting all of this press and yet he can’t seem to break a million records sold on a single album? Not hating becasue I am a fan of some of his music but he can’t really say he hasn’t gotten the promotional push so what is this all about?

      1. HOW THE FUCK LAUGHTERHOUSE GET SO MUCH PRESS AND THEY CAN’T SELL 10,000 (CPL THEM BUMS CAN’T SELL 5K)…

INTERSCOPE ** PAYS ** FOR THE PRESS ONE WAY OR THE OTHER…

AND IT GETS BILLED BACK TO THE ‘ARTISTS’ (I USE THE TERM LOOSELY).

ROSS AT LEAST MIGHT EARN IT BACK…

        LAUGHTERHOUSE NEVER

      2. Now n days some of these rappers dont worry about selling albums. Ross for instance put out a lot of singles. As long as you have singles on the billboards, you gone get bread regardless. As you can c, MMG push out a lot of singles and make a lot of videos for mixtape tracks.

Thats been the new hustle, when rappers can go platinum off singles, they dont worry about selling albums. Shiiit, especially when these dudes constantly doin shows as well, they gone c that paper regardless!

      1. Why would you try and compare Ross to Nas, and Frank Ocean in the first place? They are totally different artists, that rap about different things.

    19. Despite the fact that most of this album is likely to be exaggerated fantasy, I must say this man’s ear for music is impeccable. Even the most risky and more repetitive songs still manage to paint pictures that are overwhelmingly catchy and Machiavellian in its purest form. Overall the album is exactly what was hope for of Mr. Roberts, undeniable consistency. He has delivered as he quoted “A Dark Story” over incredibly composed production. William L. Roberts should get actor of the year because he articulates plots in a way that makes it sound more attractive than people who’ve actually experienced that life.

      1. so anybody willing to call bullshit on this albums a hater? only reason why people like you support this is hype, you have to lack serious musical recognition if you think this is some musical breakthrough cause its not. Its a man acting like he lives another mans life, HES BACKED BY ACTING AND MOVIE COMPANY WARNER BRO’S. HES A FUCKING ACTOR, and the 50 plus times he claims to be real on this album literally make me want to hunt this faggot down and kill him. KEEP REPPIN OFFICER RICKY YOU IDIOTS ARE JUST CAUGHT IN THE LOOP.

      2. The answer to your opening question is yes. Read the comments. At least half of them mention Ross being a CO. Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize everyone who trolls on DX was so hardcore gangster. Thanks for taking time out of your lives of dealing drugs, killing rival thugs, and fucking bitches to provide us with your opinions. This must be really important if it pulled you away from such an exciting thug life. TRUTH BE TOLD, 95% of the people who determine what’s good and what’s not based upon “street cred” are pathetic wannabes. YOU are a pathetic wannabe, and yes, YOU are a hater.

    20. Absolutely disapponting album. Beats some like blues and jazz shit, and they are very similar. Album divides on 3 parts:
      1.Jazz blues shit (1-7 tracks)
2.Annoying on the same type south beat shit (8-10 tracks)
      3. Bitch ass nigga singing shit.
      Conclusion: absolutely wack.

    21. What the hell?!?!?! So you’re saying that this was as good as “Life is Good” and “Channel Orange”?! Bitch please. Fuck HHDX.

    22. Folks are really hating on this album if they are giving it below a 4. It is not a 5 because his subject matter is so limited. However, the is a solid piece of work all the way through.

    23. Niggas be hating like bitches up in here. La Reid knows his shit and he satin this shit is bangin. I been tellin niggas thus album was gon be classic and no doubt shit is classic. Nuggas just hate cuz they 50 dickriders and they know Rozay ended 50 and jeezy career.

      Bawse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    24. This fat muthafucker is trying to be like B.I.G.
Officer Ricky eat a dick and go to hell you asshole donut cop.

      1. YES..TO ME..THAT NAS ALBUM BORING..I WOD RATHER SUCK DICK THAN LISTEN TO SUMMER IN SMASH OR ANY OTHER TRASH ON THE ALBUM.

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MAINSTREAM AND SO CALLED REAL HIP HOP

MAINSTREAM FANS WILL FIND GFIDT MORE APPEALING THAN LIFE IS GOOD .SO SHOULD THEY PRAISE NAS EVEN THOUGH THEY CANT LISTEN TO HIS SHIT?

PERSONALLY I WOULD TO FIGHT NAS IN REAL LIFE WITH THE OTHER HAND HOLDING A PHONE.

YMCMB GOT THE GAME BY THE CLIT..SO JUMP ON MY DICK A DO A FULL SPLIT

      2. I hope your liver rots you make all blacks look bad, go fit Mitt Romney he’s teh real enemy anyway

    25. Why do you niggas get so up in arms over a record review? It’s just one man’s opinion and if it’s not the same as yours so what.

The problem with too many of you niggas is that you dudes act like you’re fucking these rappers or something. Ya’ll so sensitive…like clits.

Nothing wrong with liking Nas’ album and liking Rick Ross’ album. They both have their lanes. Just like no two people’s lives are the same.

      Enjoy the fucking music!!!

    26. man.. at some point you gotta draw a line in the sand. i heard this album and it’s the same bs as usual. Only hi-light for me is Andre. if you rate this frauds album the same as Nas then somebody is lying straight up. and i don’t want to hear isht about ross and how vivid he paints his pictures… if it’s the same damn picture each rip. that’s not painting.. that’s xeroxing

    27. DX is losing made credibilty w/this rating. Havent heard the entire album yet (could careless about Ross individual tracks) but after some good features, there’s no way this album is as good as Nas’. U wanna talk about an abc rapper, Ross gives u few to none great verses. Albulm is only listenable becuz of the features, that only bans it from a 4 or 5. How many rappers have outshine Ross on his own shit? Almost every1

    28. ALL U CLOWNS THT SAID ALL THE SONGS SOUND THE SAME OBVIOUSLY DIDNT LISTEN TO THE ALBUM ITS A CLASSIC..ROSS DELIVERED LYRICALLY BIG TIME TRACKS LIKE PIRATES , ASHAMED, AMSTERDAM, MAYBACH MUSIC 4 SIXTEEN 3 KINGS, DICED PINEAPPLES, 10 JESUS PEICES, TRIPLE BEAM DREAMS,ETC.. HATERS SUCK A DICK ROSS RUNNIN THIS SHIT NOW

    29. so anybody willing to call bullshit on this albums a hater? only reason why people like you support this is hype, you have to lack serious musical recognition if you think this is some musical breakthrough cause its not. KEEP REPPIN OFFICER RICKY YOU IDIOTS ARE JUST CAUGHT IN THE LOOP.hip hop is dead.

    30. Niggas on here act like Ross fuckin they bitches with all rhe hate. Shit is fire. Best album of the year. Nas got a different style that appeals to a different base. Ross raps for certain niggas but they both do music good for who they tryin to appeal ti. This album is classic easily rozays best album.

      Bawse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    31. I’ve said it a thousand times before and I’ll say it a million times more. FUCK YOU HATERS. It’s your fault the industry is in a slump. Saying shit about Ross like he’s not talented all because he was a CO back in the day is absolute bull shit. Who are you trying to convince, the equally ignorant person reading your comment, or yourself? I love hip hop, a lot of the fans are guilty of destroying it. Hip hop has some of the dumbest, most uneducated, stubborn, tunnel-vision, racist, homophobic fans in music. Hip hop also has some of the brightest and open-minded. My point? Stop acting like a bunch of little girls throwing tantrums and SUPPORT HIP HOP MUSIC!!!!!

      1. Okay I will by not buying this album… Think about it better Hip Hop albums have came out this month that are easily worth the buy over this, instead of copping this I bought REBELutionary.

    32. All the rick ross defenders always come with the same line “he can pick beats though”…to those I say since when was picking beats a fucking talent?!

      1. Lyrics are fire. Up until this album, I was not a fan of his beat selection. There’s noway that Lex Luger guy should keep getting work. When you write something better, let me know, I’d love to hear it.

      2. I noticed that too. No one ever quotes any sharp lines or verses. And if they do it’s usually for an artist featured on the album. Average rhymes coupled with one dimensional content and dope beats should not equal a 4.

      3. “. Average rhymes coupled with one dimensional content and dope beats should not equal a 4.”

        AMEN!

And even the beats are not that dope as before, even he can actually pick beats. It doesn’t have any REALLY stand-out tracks, either beat-wise or looking a track completely.

    33. you niggas haven’t heard the album, you’re GUESSING AND ASSUMING that it sounds like his regular club music. Yall looking like fools.

Ross beat selection >>>> Nas. thats just the truth.

plus Ross laid down some decent verses.

      1. We can argue all we want. Where’s your proof? Oh, right, that he was a CO. Ok, cool. You know how crooked cops are? And just because you hold a job in law enforcement doesn’t mean you’ve lead a perfect life. And I’m sorry, what street cred do you have again? Receiving welfare? Yea, you’re a thug. get outta here cunt

      2. Well now he says he’s a drug baron… muthafucker I don’t need proof don’t be so stupid as to see what Officer Ricky is doing, he giving you a fictional life for entertainment and that’s cool he ain’t the first and certainly is not going to be the last he’s just not very creative with it he’s purely one dimensional….

    34. Great Album, So sad when the album finished. 50 Cent is probably gonna be angry at the success of this album.
Great Job Ross, You brought a classic album to the listeners.

      1. Wow, not even noon and I’m already sure that that is the stupidest fucking comment I’m gonna read all day. Congratulations. I’m gonna go ahead and guess that you’re uneducated, and probably jobless. And I’m sorry, KFC does not count as a job. Have fun being a miserable fucking you welfare-receiving piece of trash.

      2. Judging by the number of K’s you put as “your name,” I’d assume you spend your same time burning crosses and committing hate crimes

      3. Well give me tips on how to play along with you because I personally find it difficult to stoop to your stupidity…

    35. After giving Nas new gem only a 4 rather than a 4.5 or 5 and giving this Ross album a 4, HipHopDx needs to hang it up in terms of reviewing albums. Ross does the same thing every album. Put some dope beats with some all over the place rhymes with NO SUBSTANCE.

    36. Ashamed was my fave along with Triple-Beam Dreams and Diced Pineapples, But L.A. Reid talking on Maybach 4?, Whats he doing on the album?

    37. This is a 4.5 album, for anyone that thinks otherwise that’s your opinion, but I sure don’t agree. ROZAYYYYYYY

      1. Before hearing New Day, I would disagree with your opinion.

After hearing it, I strongly agree. Even though 50 won’t put out anything classic material in his career, I would be glad if he reach the quality he did on “Curtis”. Its still subpar, but after BISD and 5, it would be heaven.

    38. Just like every Rozay LP, high-profile guests saved the album by adding a little substance and variety. Rick Ross itself is boring, predictable and has no lacks creativity.

Bottom line is his supposed to be hits are all dissapointments, especially that 3 Kings joint or the fourth installment of Maybach Music (which is the worst piece of the series, I think).

Same old shit, now with wasted potential – 3/5

P.S.: Saying it that is just as good as like “Life is Good” or “channel ORANGE” truly undermine your credibility.

    39. Soooo, what number of times does this make it for you, saying that DX sucks are you’re done with their reviews, news, etc? You people are pathetic. Don’t like it, don’t come back, don’t comment. My guess is it’s aimless hate that keeps your hearts pumping, and your lungs filling with air. If that’s the case, than do hip hop a favor and die. So much ignorant hate…

      1. i get what your saying, but people hate on ross for a fucking reason. Its not aimlessly hating if you actually listen to the album and discover its a piece of overhyped BULLSHIT. DUDE IS BLATENTLY FAKE. HE DOES NOT SELL COKE. I respect ross’s hustle, but everytime he be claimin he’s the “realest n*gga” or he “pushes keys” it makes me HATE THE MOTHERFUCKER. This isnt hating because this album is blatently overrated, example : 3 kings, the fact stacks owned him on 16 bars, etc the list goes on. fuck you man, people like YOU are killing hip hop , not people like me who arnt afraid to think for themselves instead of blindlessly following which ever direction marketing hype takes us. If you honestly think dudes on same lane as nas, 50, dre, BIGGIE, PAC, like he claims hes better than , than your doing nothing but being a RAT, A FOLLOWER.

    40. I see too many haters. Ya’ll don’t even listened the album, but you talk using the hardest words. This album is perfect, none of this commercial, radio hits cds, just top of the tops. Ross is bigger than ever in this shit. I wish 200k first week, it’s gonna be super-major.
“Niggas aint gettin money, but they got an opinion
Had this tech makin racket, serve you like you were tennis”

      1. I admit, I haven’t and wont listen to the album. The reason is, I already know what’s on it without hearing it. It’s Rick Repetitive Ross. Nice soulful instrumentation with heavy 808’s…and repeated phrases for hooks. Mad collaborations with other rappers and Boss talk. Did I miss anything? Perfect…maybe if you’re a die hard Ross fan.

      2. Maybe if Ricky added a bit more variety to this fictional drug lord story then I would listen, to quote TheNeedleDrop it would be like watching Scarface with all the tribulations and no trials.

      3. @614grind

Took the damn words right out of my mouth. You forgot about the track worshipping woman which contradicts the other tracks where he is insulting women.

    41. I hope ross gets shot. I really do. What hes doing to hip hop is unforgiveable. WARNER BRO’S ACTING SWAG.

    42. No matter how good or dope A Rick Ross album is, you gonna find all the haters on here automatically dismiss it. I Been a a Ross fan from Day 1, If the C.O. Shit didn’t come out most y’all niggaz would be cosignin’ dude….Ross one of the few dudes who got better EVERY album. Salute to Ross for droppin’ a damn near perfect album AND topping Teflon Don!!!! 305 til’ I Die

      1. As much as Rick Ross has the occasional good song. Some of the lyrics are straight up nonsense, and if 3 Kings wasn’t a straight up off-the-dome freestyle, it was the death of Dr. Dre. Literally, he shamelessly self-promotes his shit like a self-sellout twice. As I said twice, there are great songs here and there, but it’s just a bit average.

“Talk to ’em honestly, and they call you a hater,”

      2. @Guest I’m speaking on niggaz whos only criticism of Ross is the C.O. shit. Thats a hater. If you don’t like the album and you voice your reasons as to why then, your just a critic and I fully respect anyone who critiques the music not the fact that they just hate Ross cuz he Was a C.O. and don’t want nothin’ good for homie..Those ARE HATERS…Peace & Respect

    43. Rick Ross’ album was so bland I got bored after Sixteen was over. After that the song collapsed. Nas’ album is wayyy better than any rap album out right now lyrically. maybe not instrumentally, but Nas’comes through either way. Ross raps about the same shit, and lives a fantasy world of a drug lord behind the mic. Ross supporters are all probably MMG fans who worship anything they put out, when honestly I think they’re the worst rap group out right now. Fuck hiphopdx, a 4? cut your fucking fingers off and stop making reviews.

      1. y’all a bunch rick ross haters.are u niggas under a spell or something?i become so annoyed when you guys keep mentioning nas’ name when we are talking about the boss

      2. CUZ NAS IS THE BOSS AN OFFICER RICKY GOT NO BARS… DEAL WITH THIS TRUTH AN KNOW THAT FAT COP WILL NEVER GET TO THAT LEVEL!!!

    44. How the fuck did this get a 4??? The only good songs were Diced Pineapple and Ten Jesus Pieces…And all of the tracks sound exactly the same as his other albums…Are you really going to say this is just as good as ‘Life is Good’? This album is a 2.5-3.0 at best…If this is 4, Nas album should be a 5…But you people seem to hold Nas up to higher standards then other rappers, which isn’t fair at all.

    45. Fire the boss continues to build his empire and dominance! Shout to Curly for making it happen! Where’s G-unot!?

      1. Mr K You Are A Lame Following A Correction Officer, Whats That Say About U?.. Its Clear 50 An Company Are Into Things That Are Bigger Then Rap.. So K When Is Your Favorite Police Officer Ever In Forbes? Umm Never Now Shut The Fuck Up An Play That Get Rich r Die Tryin Album Cuz WE ALL KNOW U HAVE IT…. lol

    46. Dear die hard Ross fans or jus supporters,

Despite the heavily criticism Ross receives for being a C.O. and claiming to be a major drug dealer, Ross isnt a bad Artist. He has worked perfecting his flow and through time, maybe even has become a better lyricists. With all that being said, Ross’ lyricism is still extremely weak compared to other top rappers in the game. Just ask yourself after years of listening to this guy, how many good lines does he have? How many good verses does he have? How many times does he get outshined on his own shit? Is he lyrically, the weakest MC in MMG? Now no doubt, Im not gonna say Ross is that much worse than 2chainz,French Montana, Future or any of these other average rappers. But lyrically, he is nowhere the likes kanye,Jay,Drake,T.I.,Kendrick Lamara,Cole & even Wayne(i will admit modern day Wayne isnt great but he’ll still have some clever lines every now and then). These guys not only delivered good music like Ross has at times, but had great verses that are MEMORABLE. The hype around this guy being a top MC isn’t warranted because we rarely if ever see Ross kill verses and hold his own vs the many featured rappers in his music. A top MC means he can spit w/the best of the best in the game right now. I’ll give him credit for making some good songs and having some major buzz but also remeber, Ross has yet to even go platinum. So has he even dominated the charts yet? If we can’t look at him as an MC and say “he’s nice” and then look at him as rapper and say”he’s selling lots of records” what is the basis for any hype around this guy? This is just something to think about for all u big-time Ross fans and supporters when ppl get angry to see this guy get so much publicity.

      Thank you,
      Hip-hop head

      1. damn you nailed that…very eloquent…but it is the truth…this dude get outshined on his shit so often……I give him props for being able to pick the right beats and shit.and he gets the right features on his shit..but thats it. He makes a better executive producer more than anything else..Ross does have vision when it comes to song but….thats it

      2. Die hard? Nobody’s a die hard fan, the dude just makes consistent music, like the article stated, yeah some songs you dont care for but album wise never been upset after spending my fifteen bucks on any of his albums. I have bought countless garbage albums from artist who went from great to just ass. By the way I never went to their blog and commented, why when I can not buy their album, best way to show my hate or dissatisfaction.

      3. I like what you’re talking about there, good point. I’ve always seen Ross in the same way. My top lyricist will always be Eminem, genius.

      4. Drake isnt strictly all hip-hop, I agree there but he cnt spit(when he’s not singing). He’s got some bars but his image is what he’s critized most for. Im just just talking strictly bars tho, not image

    47. Rick Ross is boring, some of his features are alright. He’s almost always rapping about money, and couldn’t stay on topic on Accident Murderers with Nas. His whole persona on the mic is a fraud, and his lyrics are just boring, along with preschool level rhymes.

      1. @ the truth hurts…..how the fuck did he murder Nas…he did’nt even stay on subject…do you even know what Nas was talking about…do you even know what a “ACCident Murderer” is?? if not…recant you opinion till you do research

    48. look guys hiphop dx loves ross and ymcmb..so although the ratings from people like us is ‘1/5’ They are gonna give it 4/5 ..THe album is far from classic..nothing different from his mixtapes..except for that Sixteen song..Not variety of music here..no innovation..Great features but the songs are just plain boring..Sorry Ross Try again..

    49. I don’t like Rick Ross. But I will admit that its a solid album. Not classic, but its deffinately worth a listen. I think the 4 out of 5 review is fair. this site is just full of haters stuck in the 90s

    50. What up fam, its cha boi back up in it! gotta respect rozay’s hustle! hes keeps it fresher than Hov thats for damn sure. i gotta consider this close to a classic. teflon don was the shiz, but when you get DR DRE on a track… woo look out. could be some of dre’s best raps since chronic. with nas’s life is good being a flop i was happy this hit up my musical ears! who else is waiting for diced pineapples 2?
      its cha boi!

    51. “But you people seem to hold Nas up to higher standards then other rappers, which isn’t fair at all”

      Stop whining.

    52. why you fuckers keep talking about Nas? remember when Nas was selling kilos of coke and shooting people and also Mobb Deep. They are also no druglords so stop dissing Ross.

    53. damn homie. good point. imma give it a few more listens cus i like your point a view. keep it pimpin’, pimpin.
      preach

    54. “already know what’s on it without hearing it”

You could say the same thing about Nas. He’s going to talk about how much of a pimp he is. He’s going to make at least one mafia reference. Have a string of slow songs. Most of the beats will be slow. Do a totally off the wall song, in this case with Amy Winehouse. If you’re going to label one, you gotta label them all.

      1. by your comment you have CLEARY never listened to a Nas album…you stated about 2% of his subject matter….shut the fuck..do the research before you comment

    55. It really bothers me that all people care about is album sales and how much money someone is gettin… i see madd ppl quoting “niggas got opinions but aint gettin money” or whatever it is… what does that have to do with rap as a talent and an art? I don’t care about dollar signs i care about flow, rhyme schemes sylables, content and all that stuff… as far as rick ross I think he’s pretty weak in all of those… not trying to hate Im just stating my opinion (and Im gettin money.. Im at work right now).. with that said I havnt heard the album and I never plan on it cause Im not a ross fan… only reason Im here is cause Im bored as fuck… I think ross has it in him I just feel like he’s taking the real lazy route with his music… Joe Budden said it best “Don’t blame yall for being trash, fans are coppin it”

      1. what up its cha boi… heyyo. you maybe wanan get off joe buddens jock for a minute? hmm.
Ross teh boss for a reason. look at the game tape!

      2. i pride myself in being great and how you gonna become great if you dont study greatness! ross a boss for a reason. i aint on no ones jock. i respect his mad hustle. teflon don teh chronic then god forgives is chronic 2001. budden aint got nothing to show. ROSS A BOSS BIG TIME. everyday hes hustling

      3. I said one thing about budden and Im on his dick? haha you over here “yea ya boy cha boiiiii rick ross is a boss *slurrp slurrp gagg* oh man he such a boss *slurp slurp* I love that niggas hustle yoooo *gag slurp*”.. haha you look stupid… show me a track where ross uses a the same rhyme scheme for more than 2 bars…. and then show me a ross track where he doesn’t use the BMF flow haha.. good luck… ross better than budden? wow

    56. Happy for Rozay, two things he cant regret: Being exposed of working as a correctional officer and having a bunch of faggots hate on him. The two really made him the trending topic like what since his first album came out. So all the dudes hating on Ross is the reason why hes so fucking fat and rich. If you never took the time to read every article, post every comment, most ya’ll probably know more about this guy then I do, and probably got at least a album or two. Since when did bitching and hating become such a norm??? Your favorite rapper is even a fan of his.

      1. aint no one gon respect yo opinion if you got a lame ass name like chunk dogg. i aint respect your response or your hustle. ross has had 3 classic albums. with the top raps and producers. your points make no sense. i keeps it boss like ross. pls believe that
        its cha boi

      2. Ross has had 3 classics…..? No Cha Boi, how the hell do you define a classic, then? A classic is defined as an album with tracks and production that are all solid. Furthermore, the album will still be bumped 10, 20 even 30 years in the future (just like The Chronic or Michael Jackson songs if you wanna talk 30 years), now, I guarantee you that none of Ross’ albums will be bumped even 5 years in the future. Personally, what I think happens is Ross puts out an album, it gets hype (mostly from him), and people bump the album for 2 or 3 weeks then they drop it. No one is bumpin Aston Martin anymore, nor are they bumpin Yacht Club, nor are they bumpin Luxury Tax. You catch my drift? You want a classic Hip Hop album? The Marshall Mathers LP, lyric wise, production wise, feature wise, that album is a classic. Eminem Show is a classic, too. But hey, each to their own.

    57. this album is garbage, its not even funny only tracks worth “downloading” are: 3 kings, sixteen and just randomly pick one of the remaining tracks cuz they all sound exactly the same lyrically just on different beats…Hands down his worst album to date..i give it a 2 out of 5, just cuz he included rich forever and triple beam dreams as part of the deluxe version.

      1. you clearly dont respect or know good music if it hit cha in the face. get out here and check out one of yo favourite bubble gum pop rap site.
        its cha boi

      1. how u gonna call it whack when you name yourself after ross the boss. cholo? we all keeps its YOLO so pls respect him. we aint even see you anyways man. get on out here. whos with me
        its cha boi

    58. I see the haters rollin in on this one. Look, its not a great album, its not a bad album. I probably personally liked Teflon Don better, but this album isn’t too bad. The Justice League production is dope, 3 Kings is honestly boring, and Ross is just spitting random shit and rhyming words on his tracks. I’m not a Ross fan, but I give the dude props for having a good ear for the Justice League beats (I’m not a Trap Music/street music kind of dude so I don’t necessarily like 911 or Hold me Back), to be honest, the production saved the album. Ross as a lyricist has never really impressed me, now if Nas had that same ear for beats, oh man, forget about it. 2/5

    59. Yeah, what I thought… Is it because he’s from Florida, kept the line off Teflon Don to put 2-3 weak southern beats (Teflon Don – MC Hammer & BMF; here – Hold Me Back, 911 & So Sophisticated). They all sound the same!

    60. ALBUM OF THE YEAR….. SECOND TRACK SAYS IT ALL… “NO NICE WAY TO TELL YOU NIGGAS GAME OVER!!!.. CLASSIC.. LIKE IM SERIOUS/400 DEGREES/ TM101 CLASSIC

    61. I’m not a Ross hater, I actually like some of his songs, but I don’t get how this got the same rating as Nas….I guess the reviewer hasn’t heard Ross’ other albums, because they’re EXACTLY the same as this one.

    62. but u gon put it at the same level as Nas’ album?
      nigga fuck hip hopdx
      shout out to kanyetothe

    63. Completely disappointed in DX.. took a week for a half assed Nas review… this review is out a day early in-depth?? and its not as good as Nas album.. terrible

    64. All you people except for Cha Boi are retarded. This album is deep. And to me a ood album is something deed, something people can relate to like all of TECH N9NE’s albums. Also. This is not a classic yet cuz the albu hasn’t dropped yet. It drops tomarrow. Also. Its you haters that make him rich. If Eminem had no haters he would not be who he is today.

    65. 4/5.It wasn’t a lyrical masterpiece but well put together and a enjoyable listen from start to finish despite 911 and hold me back. To the nas stans: Both artists highly respect each other nd are on the same label and both albums bang!!!! Stop acting like nas has the only album to ever come out and stop dick riding because you mad over a review smh. Nas 4/5 Ross 4/5 Get over it

      1. this album is boring.. besides “sixteen” the songs are regular.. a few beats sound the same “hold me back” “911” nothing stands out.. 3/5 should be the rating.

    66. You can tell he really made it by the comments alone, dudes be putting in mad work to discredit this man and his hustle based on ridiculous reasons, meanwhile the artists the same people claim to love get around 40 comments and I don’t even like this guy, but come on, every single rapper that ever grabbed a microphone told you lies.

      1. cause of that wack ass swizz beat song and that terrible marry j song. oh and cause Nasty is only on the deluxe version.

      2. This is Ross’ album, not Nas’. You’re obviously on the wrong review, dumb fuck.

    67. i wont even bother downloading it for free…corny shit…how can i listen to a wanna be gangster with a cop profile and no rapping skills at all…btw he should shoot more vid like the one from above, that way he could get some more exercise

    68. Stop giving albums low rating because Nas got a 4/5, please grow up people and stop acting like childish annoying little kids… This is easily Rick Ross’s best album… All u fake Hip Hop fans obviously have not listened to this album, because if u did u would have been singing it’s praises.. Great work Ross, and thx for ending 50 cent’s career in rap..

      1. Yes!! Way better!! Listen to it again!! Port Of Miami was better than Teflon Don!! Are u kidding me??

    69. Butthurt, furious, bitchmade Nas stans rating this 1. Ross shitting on yall niggas while Nas is bumping this shit in his whip.

    70. The album is dope and is surely accurately rated at 4. I like the diversity in the production & lyrics and the album doesn’t sound too poppish or over reaching for commercial appeal. It’s a nice balance of everythihng. I still say Nas’ album is better so DX’s review for Life is Good should be adjusted up at least one half star. No way Ross’ album and Nas’ album are equal. And I like Ross. 4 stars

    71. Aesop Rock – Skelethon 3.5
      Rick Ross – God Forgives, I Don’t 4.0
      http://www.hiphopdx.com 1.0

I owe to this website, because it showed me a lot of good LP’s but those time are gona now this website really struggling

    72. This get’s a 4 from you DX? Nas’ Life is Good got a 4 and it’s vastly superior in every single aspect. That’s a joke.

      1. Truth mate, I cant understand it. This guy is genuinely terrible. I love Hip Hop, I hate Rick Ross.

Anyone thinking Rick Ross is Lyrical do yourself a favour, click out back and go check REKS out.

Dudes like that restore my faith and get little or no praise…..

    73. A 4, really? This album sucked hot monkey balls lol. The only song I liked on there was Sixteen and that’s because of 3 stacks.

    74. Can’t believe the people that don’t think this album is good. Ross is a problem my dudes. This album is so sick. Straight fire! And also better than Teflon Don

    75. I was very disappointed in this album considering what I was expecting. Presidential, Ice Cold, Touch n You are terrible songs that I find unlistenable. Hold me back and 911 are pretty much the same beat. It seems like they recorded 2 similar songs and were going to choose one to be on the album and then said fuck it and put both of them on the there. 3 Kings is underwhelming with Jay-Z clearly ghost-writing Dr. Dre’s verse. Other than those mistakes the album is good. 3 out of 5

    76. 4/5? yeah if your 12 and you think this fake corporate rap is cool. its 1 think to listen to talented dope gangsta rappers like cam’ron and vado but this corporate shit is wack and Rick Loss need to read a book. some nice production, but once again predictable mainstream guest rappers and silly subject matter and no lyrical ability from ross the corporate pawn. 2 stars ho.

      1. You do realize ‘cooperate’ rappers and ‘gangster’ rappers are basically the exact same fucking thing. Camron and Vado could also be labeled as ‘cooperate pawns’.

      2. lol did you just say Camron was a dope gansta rapper….SMH…

soooooo like Cam isnt lying when he raps…???

the same person who was a highschool basket ball star allong with mase and went to good schools, but just started rapping after 1 year of college… He a Gangsta????? pssshh ok

      3. not the same thing dude. cam and vado (especially cam) got skills with lyrics and style (flow) and have a major independent mixtape grind done partially cause the love recording and releasing shit and their music is very hip hop sounding. And to dude talking all that cam gangsta rap shit- cam has skillz and is nice on the mic and had good taste in real beats. all his dip-set dudes have done time and are connected and so is he sucka!! i agree cams content is negative and sort of corporate but he way doper than rossy.

    77. Shit is trash…he fallin off…maybe time for him to get sum new writers…or go bac to workin in the prisons 😀

    78. “by your comment you have CLEARY never listened to a Nas album”

You’re nothing but a Nas “stan”. His subject matter hasn’t changed in years.

    79. William has become popular with the kids by depicting the life style of a boss, or a don, two words that he loves. His success in mimicking drug lords has brought him the ability to live like one of them. He never cares to unpack the morals of the drug tradewhat he revels in is the security and relief of being fabulously wealthy. This is what his voice sells, the way Sinatra once sold an implacable but supple kind of confidence. Perhaps listeners know that this is a version of Miami Vice, a show that he claims to have been inspired by.
(Triple Beam Dreams) The triple beam is a kind of scale often used to weigh cocaine, and the song is mostly about drug dealing
Its time to take it to the other side, the side you gotta watch A&E cable television for, homie, but we live this shit. Its telling that he invokes watching television before relating an allegedly personal story.

      1. 95% of rap, tell the kids that…everybody this real and fake ish, its entertainment you want some real knowledge pick up a text book. Why everybody look at rap for realness. It people actually treated it as entertainment, maybe these young kids would pull their pants up and talk straight. But all the hip hop groupies always talking oh he aint real and hip hop is dead. The reason they say this is they drop out of high school and realized all rap is a fantasy and MUSIC, not a guide in life.

      2. You are totally missing the point ..And to be honest i cant be bothered to break it down for you ..!! Lets just make it easy and say ..You right Brother you right !

    80. Ok beats, mediocre rhymes. Ross brings nothing new to the table. Honestly I find this kind of rap boring

    81. i just dont understand this site. how the hell you rate ALBUMS!!!!!!!!!!!!! on what scale? are you getting paid on the side to fabricate lies about this album so that people can buy his album. whats going on is a little suspect.

The Album is arguably a 4. best album since Teflon Don. it gets repetitive after Amsterdam. That track with Stalley on the Bonus tracks i believe, is fire. though this ALBUM does not deserve to be on the same Rating level as Life is Good.

      1. Goddamn it your comment is so stupid and hypicritical. You realize DX could have been ‘paid to fabricate lies so people buy his album’ about the mostly positive review for Life Is Good, and the countless other Nas trainwrecks DX dickrides? Is that how you even discovered Nas, by reading a review on HipHopDX? Or maybe not, you probably heard of him before you read this website, but once you did start reading you bought all his albums becuase of the positive reviews. See what I mean?

      2. who buys albums because ti received a positive review on a website? I would think a reasonable person would stream the album before buying it… just saying tour comment made no sense m

    82. Rich Forever was miles ahead of this. Like honestly, how can HipHopDX support a song like Sixteen, which is bassically an 8 minute lyrical rambling that I bet even they couldn’t stomach listening to more than once. And whats wrong with 911? It’s easily the most engaging song on the whole album, save for maybe Pirates. All this coming from a Rick Ross fan.

    83. And how the fuck is this ‘bold and indlugent’? If you said that about Rich Forever or Teflon Don, it would make sense. But this shit sounds like a standard major label mess. Sixteen is the only thing on here thats ‘bold’, but its sure as fuck aint ‘indlugent’.

    84. Only song i like is Rich Forever…that shit goes. Maybach music is pretty cool too… besides that nothing else really did it for me. i give it a 3.5

    85. What the hell is happening to this site?!
I’m sure Ross was never writing his own rhymes anyways. He probably mostly caught up in the business end of things. 4 X’s is excessive

    86. 1/5
This album sounds the same as the last 4: talking about the same three things; money, drugs, and bitches, same wack-ass boring flow, zero skills on the mic, and a fake persona. GFID is one of the worst albums of the year.

    87. Been listening to the new album for bout a week now and it cool. Nothing new just the same formula I really like the Maybach 4 & sixteen track with Andre 3000. You can see he really went for the women on this, so do you get it how you live. The only problem I really have is the line about Penn State you shouldn’t have touched that one that was crazy come on bruh.

    88. I say next time just put out an entire album with the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. Those cat are the most underrated producers in the game that put out straight heaters!! Every track that made on there was firrre!! Five stars for the League just them not the album.

    89. SO LIFE IS GOOD GETS 4/5 AND SO DOES THIS? ARE YOU SERIOUS? I ASSUME ANY ALBUMS WITH THE SAME RATINGS MEAN THEY ARE JUST AS GOOD AS EACH OTHER BUT THIS IS COMPLETE NONSENSE.

    90. most of these rappers aint real niggas. Word, Nas bankrupt never was a drug runner, Lil Wayne aint no blood, Jeezy aint no BMF, 50 a snitch, Game a stripper. None of these niggas real you guys. If they was all real they all be dead now. Like it or not Ross is the new biggie.

      BAWSE!!!!!

      1. Why would we need a new Biggie when he ain’t nowhere near up to scratch on so many levels. Nas did A BIT of drug-running to fund his career in about 90, 91 more proof of that exists than Ricky being a dealer, where’s your proof Jeezy ain’t no BMF and proof of 50 being a snitch? Just because Game was a stripper don’t mean he wasnt no Gangsta I think the argument of him having 5 bullets in him in a bad drug deal is stronger than him being a stripper.

AND WEEZY AIN’T NO BLOOD! WE ALL KNOW THAT.

    91. This get the same rating as LIG? Yea fucking rite, this Ross weakest album in years. The CD starts off good but after #7 this shit fall apart. Only songs really worth shit are Sixteen (cuz its mostly Dre), Presidential & Ashamed. Even the track with Dr. Dre & Hov sucked asshairs…only thing good about it was the beat. All of em came uninspired as hell. DX yall on some bullshit…

    92. the internet tears rap apart, before we waited to hear songs when albums dropped in stores. Now we criticize like lil bitchs on the internet to one another calling shit out. It aint like it was, technology fucked us over whether anyone wanna agree or not. just my opinion don’t make it the truth or right, i just believe that. Internet killed hip hop/rap. It’s gonna kill everyone in some way, you’ll see or I’m the dead man.

    93. No matter how good or dope A Rick Ross album is, you gonna find all the haters on here automatically dismiss it. I Been a Ross fan from Day 1, If the C.O. Shit didn’t come out most y’all niggaz would be cosignin’ dude….Ross one of the few dudes who got better EVERY album. Salute to Ross for droppin’ a damn near perfect album AND topping Teflon Don.

      BAWSE!!!!!!

      1. “If the C.O. Shit didn’t come out most y’all niggaz would be cosignin’ dude”

        Right and your point is?

I know people’s a point against that is “well I can’t listen to someone brag about him being a gangsta/drug dealer/lord/baron when it’s clearly bullshit”

      1. TRUTH!!!!! THESE IDIOTS ARE SOO AFRAID TO PROGRESS AND WONDER WHY HIP HOP IS ABOUT TO BE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TOTEM POLE AGAIN SOON!!!!!!

      Bawse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. Yo Lawse you still mad I fucked your babymomma and took her shopping? You still mad I’m forever sitting 110mill on Forbez and will always be a king? You mad I made you look like fool in front of your kids? You mad that my newest single is getting more buzz than your entire album? OFFICER DOWN RICKY LOOOL!

    96. HHDX rated this the same as Life is Good waaaaaaaaaaah wahawahwah People like this shit waaaaah cry cry cry bitch bitch Rozay makes good music and is richer than me boooooo hoooooo waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Seriously, does no one listen to the MUSIC anymore? People wanna put the musician’s persona, background, legendary status etc. above the MUSIC. S.M.H.

      1. Exactly man, kids listen to the artists. Grown people listen music.

Still though I don’t listen to Rick Ross his music just don’t appeal to music.

    97. All ya’ll hating are just trying to Hold Ross Back, that’s why he made the song, for you ‘pussy ass niggas’. That’s why you don’t like the single, cuz u cant relate, cuz ur obviously doing the opposite. I have plenty of niggaz and hoes trying to hold me back, so hell yeah I can relate. All you fools calling Ross fake, look in the mirror first. You’re talking about the “streets” from a fucking computer. Go out and bump GFID, and you’ll see how ill this album is. Shit, some of you haven’t even heard the album but are talking mad shit. Lyrically it’s not on par with Life is Good, but hip hop isn’t just about the lyrics. Tupac for the most part was not a great lyricist, he just had really good content, yet he is considered GOAT by most. Same with rappers like Ross and Dr Dre, it’s more about the content with them. GTFO pussy ass niggas, don’t try to hold Ross back, you couldn’t even if you tried. All the critics are saying good things about this album. I rate it 3.7

    98. Hatin this shit is your own loss. Don’t let the fakeness of Ross keep you from enjoying the music.

    99. Even HHDX standards this review is ludicrous. Three kings is “careless”, bitch please that song typifies dope, their ‘kings’ of rap after all, it’d be more careless if they werent arrogant. And to even think about rating this alongside Life is good is pathetic.

    100. this sounds like the last 10 songs he did. how original.
love the title “911” how appropriate for a cop

    101. If this is a 4 – then Nas album is a Six.

Ross album is good, but not that good.

Should have been only 10 songs. With 6-7 being good.

    102. 50 Cent 5 Murder by numbers

      3.81
      147 people have voted.
5 is the most popular ranking.
86 people gave it a perfect five.

      Rick Ross GFID

      2.66
      125 people have voted.
1 is the most popular ranking.
32 people gave it a perfect five

    103. This album was the same ol same ol
weak album . Some of the beats are cool
but the rappin and rick ross’s flow is weak .
      2.5 stars

    104. LESS 4 SONGS THIS ALBUM WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT ALBUM !!..PRESIDENTIAL IS MY TUNE GOTTA LOVE PHARREL ..THAT BEAT IS ON POINT AND ANDRE ON SIXTEEN..JUST BLACKED OUT ON HIS VERSE…LOL ONE OF THE BEST ANDRE VERSE IVE HEARD IN A MINUTE …A DECENT ALBUM LESS LUV N YOU ,HOLD ME BACK AND 911 ..

    105. you know something is up when the fans rate this as shit but DX rates it high… like this was even close to MAYDAYS TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER ALBUM. its all good though. Strange music!

    106. a few things…
-I don’t care about Ross’ past so it doesn’t affect how i rate this album.
-It’s clear that Ross peaked on Deeper than Rap, not Teflon Don. Deeper than Rap he tried changing up the flow on some songs and on that album the content didn’t seem as redundant.
-Teflon Don and this album here sound really lazy
-the features on his albums are more distractions than anything. a big feature usually leads to no one talking about Ross’ verses. At the same time, the songs without features are very boring.
-the formula for all his albums is the exact same. It’s getting stale. Too many songs on GFID and the rest of his albums sound too much alike.
      – i could keep going, but to sum things up I don’t see how this album could be rated a 4. Picking dope beats is not enough. Even though I found the production on this album to be nothing special. Ross’lyrics/content on this didn’t do enough to bring this to a 4.

    107. I will say this…Ross succeeded in BLINDING fans with another album of great production and stellar collabs…but strip him of those and you hear the exact same weak lyricism and subject matter that’s been on every album.

I feel like he fools us into thinking he’s better than he is, especially on songs with production like SIXTEEN. Stacks clearly is the only reason that song is worth listening to, same for all the other tracks with top-notch production.

It’s sad that these beats are so good, yet wasted again on ROSS.

If Rick Ross can do no wrong in your eyes, that’s fine, but for those waiting for him to grow as an artist will waste their time with this album.

You’d think that with all these legends he hires to collab with him, he’d learn how to rap about something substantial. Folks are blinded by the star power and excellent production sprinkled across this album.

But shit is still shit no matter how u decorate it, in my opinion.

      1. Right, the production is so big it overshadows the lack of subject matter and it also makes ass wipes call people who don’t think this album is a 4.5 Nas stans. Most people who critiques Rozays music actually listens to his fucking albums. If you get tired of the same shit all of sudden you’re a hater ?? WTF..Nigga rap about $ and dope, dope and $, $ and dope…

    108. This album seriously sucks. I loved his last album but this is seriously trash. His terrible lyricism is even more evident this time around and the beats dont do much to help the situation. Utter garbage sans 1 or 2 songs

    109. LMFAO YALL NIGGAS GOT ME ROLLIN..YES U DUMB MUTHAFUCKAS IT IS RATED AS GOOD AS NAS ALBUM BECAUSE BOTH OFFER QUALITY, REAL, FROM THE HEART TYPE OF RAP THAT WE ALL BEEN WAITIN FOR..YALL SAYIN ROZAY IS FAKE..BUT I BET U GON TELL ME THE NIGGAS THAT HE SENT AT UR CRIB REAL AS FUC HAAANNN…REAL RECOGNIZE REAL..LA REID RECOGNIZE REAL..DIDDY RECOGNIZE REAL..ROZAY MAKIN HISTORY AND IS ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREATS..CANT WAIT FOR A DRAKE AND FRANKIE OCEAN COLLAB THO

    110. I cannot believe this album got 4/5 stars. Hiphopdx usually does a good job at doing reviews and giving credit where credit is due. Rick Ro$$ is the epitome of shallowness and gluttony as he flashes cars, money, champagne and his fat titts.

Seeing the overplayed demeanor of having things that most people in the world do not have is stale, most of the hip hop community got over that mid 2000’s.

I can go on forever but the message I am really trying to send is-God does not forgive rappers for putting out bullshit albums and neither do I. (or editors that think Rick Ross truly is a boss)

Get this clown ex-correctional officer out of here, what a fake

      1. do u even know what that word means dude? go listen to your backstreet boys or hanson and shut the _uck up! u know that nigga da boss…keep ur lame ass comments to urself…you fluffer! lmao..lol

      2. DX isn’t the only site that gave this album high ratings Rolling Stone, NY Times, LA Times, Huffinton Post and U.S. Today all rated this album with high regards calling it “a blessing” and his best body of work so far, so you guys must not know shit about analyzing music.

      3. Just because other people say its good does not mean I have to agree with popular media you fuck…

I have a mind of my own I hope you do not like every album that has gotten good reviews

      4. lolol y’all r dum. you’re getting way too worked up about someone else’s opinion about a piece of music. it’s subjective. no need for being nasty.

that being said, it doesn’t matter what the other sites gave – this is their review and they gave good reasoning for why the person reviewed it that way. you don’t have to agree but stop being pricks.

    111. Ross a fake nigga he has no credibility but God Forgives, Cheeseburgers don’t besides the 3 trap songs is dope album 3.5/5. I fuck with good music at the end of the day Pac my fav of all time along with Nas, Pun, Game etc. but if the music is dope i fuck with it. Ross got a great ear for beats.

That being said don’t buy this album or any of Officer Ricky’s albums. Go support the real like KRIT, Kendrick Lamar, La Coka Nostra, download this shit.

    112. Man people love to hate this guy. thats good cuz your votes and views and comments just add to his popularity…. so sophisticated, listen to that song its hard.

    113. How the hell did this get 4 stars same amount of stars as NAS’ “Life is good?” this is a joke life is good will rip this wack ross album.

    114. The only good thing about this album is that he got Andre 3000 and got Nas on the deluxe version, everyone thing else is wack

    115. 0.5/5
HHDX, get serious, we know leading hip-hop outlets get paid to suck dick but doing it so openly stinks …

    116. this goes out to the fuckin walrus
walkin fukin round like hes got retardness
flappin around like hes the greatest artist
opnin his mouth to suck mannys dick
fat bitch eat som mo chicken n som grits

      mufrucker dont call my name
      dont wear my chain
you know nothin ov my name
you aint lois lane kno what im sayin
      mufrucker

    117. rick ross is a wannabe terrorist gangsta
miamis biggest bitch if this nigga is BMF its the fuckin Bigmac More Fries set of BMF
      FUCK OUTA HERE MUFRUCKER

    118. have a guess at who is a fbi rapper game?
is yall ready hood to coast coast to city if this is your boss im gon giv him the willy

      lets do this

    119. its interesting how polarizing of an artist Rick Ross has become. Yes, he has a past as a corrections officer and employs a lot of exaggeration of his “criminal” past for the sake of his rhyming. 99% of rappers do the same thing and dont get as much hate for it. There is a valid argument that his subject matter is limited, but at the same time, he clearly caters to the market he is trying to sell to. He has improved vastly as a rapper and rarely spits a weak verse.

    120. i dont watch tv or listen to wack ass rap but i am interested in the human condition and especially that of black people in modern society even your blak leaders dont giv a fuck about you and try to sell you down the river at evry opportunity

    121. U waited one and half weeks to review lifeisgood and brought a halfbacked paragragh on that. This sh** came out today and you already all over it like a pit bull over raw steak.

Its a good album with 75% features and more name dropping we have heard since thedocumentary.

    126. They must have paid DX a decent amount for that rating or they just be ridding dick way to hard. Get the fuck out of here with that shit! You would have been less obvious putting a 3 or 3 in a half but 4? You guys are on so much bullshit! You give this a better rating then Good Life? Fucking idiots! And you wounder why your site is dying. smh

      1. As always, all these ugly, insecure, disgusting ass Nas stans is bitching, bitching and bitching.

      2. I have read about 15 reviews for this album thus far from PROFESSIONAL CRITICS and about 80% have given it a 4/5.

      3. Nas stans..?? Some of you clowns need to go crawl back in that tiny lil hole you came out of. Word, this is a good album it’s no way worth that .5 you claim the PROFESSIONAL CRITICS gave it. And what the fukc is a PROFESSIONAL CRITIC ??? Professional WRITER maybe ?? Life Is Good receives praise because of the diversity displayed and the fact that Nas has had an up and down career. Niggas love the comeback story…Nas is one of the great and true artist we have u ass…

      1. The verse ain’t on this album and the problem is, it’s also better than everything on Life Is Good.

    128. Anyone notice how 50 had a 2.5 CRITICS rating and a 4 user rating and this has a 4 CRITICS rating and a 2.5 user rating. HHDX commenters never cease to amaze me with their stupidity. 4 is fully justified for this LP in my opinion, 3 or 4 tracks aside it’s a really entertaining listen. No he’s not blowing anyone away with complex flows or intricate wordplay but he rhymes well (Better than ever before) and keeps you interested. The production alone is enough to make anybody listen (especially MM4 and Presidential!). But hey, who cares about the actual quality of the music? He’s a “fat cop” so lets all hate on him until kingdom come, fucking idiots.

      1. That is funny. That means the people not feeling Ross’s album but feeling 50’s mixtape. Its funny how hhdx rate an album 2.5 and users rate it 4. you have to go with the people. hhdx straight hated on murder by numbers that was a dope album. hhdx give a high rate to who ever is hot in the streets. Their either getting paid by Ross’s team or their dick riders. If the people rate your album a 2 then you have to go with the people!

      2. 50-Cent owns the Internet, it’s were his legion of wiggerized nerds huddle together and praise the almighty G-Unit.

Ross fan base is mainly in the community, in the streets, in the neighborhoods, they ain’t on blogs they are on Twitter.

50-Cent was the last white-friendly gangsta-rapper who embraced the nerd/geek demographic so he gets a lot of love from them online.

GFID is a solid album 4/5 and it’s Soulful without the pop/rock/techno influences that have been dominating HipHop over the last couple of years.

Look in the mirror and stop being full of hatred.

      3. Fully agree with the second response. 50 has one of the biggest, predominantly white fanbase of all time while most of the real dudes in the streets listen to Ross and I’ve never ever heard them complain about his past. Go to any hood right now and I’ll guarantee you that you’ll hear Ross’ music blasting from the speakers. You can give thousands of reasons to discredit every rapper out there, but things that should be the subject of critique, the music for example, are completely aside from any critique.

    129. 4 is right on the money for this album. Extremely well put together, well orchestrated, and even surprising at times (Sixteen, Amsterdam, Ten Jesus Pieces).

It has a lil filler but over all its a really good album. Especially by today’s commercial rap standards. This shits on anything his competition (Jeezy, etc.) is doing.

Now I dont agree that this should share the same rating as LIG. LIG should have a 5. Nothin less. Take a cue from XXL and acknowledge a classic when it arrives cuz they don’t come around often. I personally think that’s the real problem with hip-hop nowadays. People are so overly critical of the music that they cant even appreciate greatness when they hear it. Its a shame really smh.

      1. Any album with “Summer On Smash” CAN’T get a rating of 5/5, it’s simply not possible. BTW, Reks’ two albums of this year shit all over Life Is Good.

    130. In todays climate the album is dope. Stop bitching about Nas. His album isnt that great. You fools go listen to the 80’s and 90’s stuff and then you realize that LIG is just decent and nothing more. On LIG Nas has a monotonous voice and flow!!!!

      1. I agree Nas “stans” are over-hyping Life Is Good but it is better than this.

        On Albums
        MC: Nas > Rick Ross
        Lyrics: Nas > Rick Ross
        Production: Nas = Rick Ross
Guest Spots: Nas < Rick Ross Subject Matter: Nas > Rick Ross

        IMO

    131. Wow!!! another Rick Ross album nothin new same shit above average beats, wack n shallow rhymes, too many futures, its like a DJ Khaled album…4 stars???? HHDX wat r u smokin to think 4 a second that this is a gud album…Deeper than rap and teflon don are beta than this album…

    132. is it me or he sounds like a total retard on Hold me Back ? “thee nigga won’t hold me back thee nigga won’t hold me back thee nigga won’t hold me back theeee nigga won’t hold me back”

      1. Nah, you sound like a fucking retard because you don’t know how the fuck you flow melodic to a beat.

    133. MMG is whatever , $NGMB is just way better because their The New Faces of what Eazy E x Bone Thugs Built …I Don’t like tRick Ross that much

      1. Oh, how dare, the holy Nas that started all of Hip Hop. Nas himself would slap you the fuck up for that shitty, senseless comment because he uses his own outlets to promote the fuck outta this album.

    134. I judge hip hop based upon quality, not supposed street cred or hate or alliances or any of the blah blah shit. You want a non-bias opinion? DX got Ross’ album pretty much spot on. 4/5, it’s a great album from start to finish. Nas’ album on the other hand, was a bit underrated by DX. Point is, 95% of you are judging music based upon irrelevant things, and that’s why hip hop is still struggling. A great majority of he fans are ignorant and stubborn. Get educated, and stop perpetuating your own negative stereotypes- you’re embarrassing the rest of us.

      1. your embarrassing US . If you had an unbiased opinion and listened to this start to finish you’d know this album is overrated, overmarketted , garbage. It isnt the album of the year, shit even jeezys albums better than this. He gets owned by all his features and straight up lacks substance, I mean all he talks about is “pushin keys” and being a boss when he’s never sold coke, stole another mans name who does sell coke, and fucking leases his house and cars. Bugatti boy? fuck that , dude has a maybach, caddy, and a ACURA. fuck you, your ruining hip hop by SUPPORTING GARBAGE. LISTEN TO WHAT DUDE RAPS ABOUT FAGGOT.

      2. Just FYI, there little internet gangster, people know you’ve been trolling on here and responding to your own comments under different names for the last two days. Nobody’s reading your shit. I didn’t even read this comment. I just saw that “Truth Be Told” name and decided to gave one time and give your pathetic ass what you want- attention. There’s no truth in anything you say. You’re obviously just a miserable, unemployed, lonely little shut-in who gets off on talking shit anonymously on the internet. Shit, TRUTH BE TOLD, you’re probably the type of person who’s too afraid to leave your house for fear of getting jumped. Just do yourself a favor and jump out in front of traffic you miserable, pathetic, uneducated, lame ass, insecure, ignorant piece of stereotype perpetuating, degenerate trash. SMH…

      3. TruthBeTold posted one of the worst, most unlogical comments I’ve ever read. Dude was left by his whore-fucking father and his now searching super tough father figures in this rap shit that he can idolize. Off yourself, insecure piece of shit. You know what, bitchass? You’re the one ruining Hip Hop by hating unreasonably on a guy that is making millions and has thousands of fans that you’ll NEVER convince about your poor point of view instead of supporting the artists that you think are Hip Hop. Seriously, how pathetic do you look? Stupid bitch ass.

    135. overused beats, boring flow, and an officer who stole another man’s whole identity. simply unlistenable

      1. amen to that. one day officer rickys gonna end up 6 feet under, after the REAL ricky ross finds this faggot in LA.

    136. I am not impressed by this album, Rozay has hit his peak. At times I felt annoyed by the constant references to his riches and the drug game. It’s a good record the quality of the production and his commanding voice definitely mesh well on each album, but he never takes you there. Rozay says the same thing but in different ways. More substance please Rozay life is good but damn you got the ear of the people we need more substance B.

      1. Ross has songs with diversity & there have been on ocassion that he talk about drugs, but he not really talking about drugs dummy, ie me and my girlfriend..tupac, me and my gun! Ya’ll niggas simple minded! Nigga beats different on the album, but yet ya’ll hear 2 songs and be like, he using the same beat. Get the fuzuck out here with the hate!

      2. The only one hurt is you and you letting us be amused witnesses by writing more and more comments about Ross while he shits out more money than you will ever earn. Respond again, bitch, I know your mad ass ain’t calmed down yet.

      3. You just love getting off being an internet thug who gags Ross cock. His money won’t make him a better rapper. Try again, dickrider.

    137. William Leonard Roberts was a 1994 graduate of Miamis Carol City Senior High School and spent a year at Georgias Albany State College, where he studied Criminal Justice

William Leonard Roberts was then appointed a prison guard in December 1995 after graduating from the DoC training academy

He agreed to perform a wide range of correctional officer duties, including shoot an inmate attempting to escape

      1. the only reason this dude is given credits is because ignorant and dumb ass mothafuckaz are paying him dues for some shit he never did

        WHAT A FUCKIN FRAUD

      2. the only reason this dude is given credits is because ignorant and dumb ass mothafuckaz are paying him dues for some shit he never did

        WHAT A FUCKIN FRAUD

EXACTLY what people are doing with EVERY SINGLE rapper that ever grabbed a microphone. Yall need to stop searching some kind of street recognized, super thug idols in this shit. These guys are entertainers in the first place.

      3. well i don’t think dmx, kool g rap, beanie siegel and a few others were fraud like rick ross is

rick ross is just a fraud from the bottom to the tap. I mean look at this fat fuck man. he is bold and have the same beard as the real freeway ricky ross

plus you say that all the rappers do the same. lie bout their past and shit. except a few of them, you’re absolutely right. but still. unlike rick ross they do not come from a complete opposite
social background like this fat fuck does. the man went from a correctional officer to a supreme kingpin WTF ?!! find me another rapper who has the same route ! there is none except this FAT FUCK

    138. I spend my free time giving hand jobs in port-a-potties at the park- FOR FREE. I love my work!

    139. I don’t forgive either. Wasted my time listening to part of this album. Fucking garbage rap from a retard ass, fabricated rapper. Ya gotta be a half retard to think this is dope.

    140. WOW! HiphopDX givin Officer Ricky a 4! Good job guys! support fraudulent hip hop! FUckin morons…

    141. Here goes this liar, Rick ROss, again saying he has 50 MILLION in the bank. I wanna slap the shit outta this fucking pathological liar. You dont have close to that in the bank you lying, fat cop piece of shit.

      1. Nas says he moved countless kilos of dope, says hustlers in prison brag about the illegal actions they did with him and talks about spending millions of dollars while news about him being 6 million in debts are making rounds, not to say that he presents himself as some kind of ladykiller while he’s crying about his divorce all over his new album. Prodigy talked tough on all his
records but has been slapped countless times in the streets, I hope you want to beat them, too? Hypocritical asshole, get some sense of reality, every rapper that you have ever listened to lied to you.

      2. Yeah, he never released a record by the name of “It Was Written” and didn’t record “Nasty”. You’re a sick mixture of hater and dickrider at the same time, don’t you think? LMAO.

    142. lmao as im reading this bullshit review, im seeing the the promotional rick ross reebok ads… im not taking this serious

    143. 1/5

This album sounds the same as the last 4: talking about the same three things; money, drugs, and bitches, same wack-ass boring flow, zero skills on the mic, and a fake persona.

GFID is one of the worst albums of the year.

    144. People trying to discredit a musician that plays a role while they are listening to another supposed “real” rapper that is telling them the same lies. I don’t even like Ross, but come on, going by your criteria, the only rappers yall can listen to is guys like Lil’ Boosie

      1. Yall sounding pathetic as fuck, bitching about sommeone whose career is taking place in a genre that has always been about pretension and exaggeration.

      2. What is a lie about Rick Ross???? I don’t get you niggas that keep saying he lying…so a nigga was a CO at 19 so he lying about selling dope. Ya’ll fucking dumb.

    145. Wow, so much hate.

I liked it, RR’s delivery and ear for beats makes him an interesting and enjoyable listen.

      1. He already proved his superior stance by turning all you sensitive bitches mad. How many comments of people bitching about your success do you have?

      2. He already proved to be a wack rapper by putting out weak shit. His success doesn’t concern me. I’m against wack music, which Ross epitomizes.

      1. you gotta be kidding right ross is good no where near bigg’s or pac’s level not even jay-z’s level thats way jay-z didnt even try to rap on the track he played with it

    146. I listened to this album. It’s not horrible but it’s definitely not 4/5 like this review says. Dx is obviously on mmg payroll. I’d say 2.5-3.. Nothing can top port of Miami. I’ve heard half this album already on mixtapes. Was hoping for some new tracks. It’s an average album. Good production. Needs more bangers.

    147. Very repetitive, lyrically, and 90% of the songs is really, surprisingly, NOT GOOD, I expected more. I had to get 8 songs into the album before I heard something I liked. Only 2-3 songs on this album I would consider PAYING for. I recommend you listen to it on Spotify before even considering to use money on it.

    148. Only the production is great on the cd !!! Ross raps everytime the same dat is fuckin boring !!! And he don’t must play the gangster cause he never was !!! Fakeass bitch nigga !!!

    149. Officer Ricky is a fake nigga he has no credibility but God Forgives, Cheeseburgers don’t besides the 3 trap songs is a dope album 3.5/5. I fuck with good music at the end of the day Pac my fav of all time along with Nas, Pun, Game etc. but if the music is dope i fuck with it. He got a great ear for beats.

That being said don’t buy this album or any of Officer Ricky’s albums. Go support the real like KRIT, Kendrick Lamar, La Coka Nostra, and download this shit.

      1. hahahahaha, dont hate! he gonna do numbers! u will speak, number tell the truth not haters like you who listen to bullshit…

      2. Mad Ross hater. Ross just dropped the classics that all the real niggas hustling and dealing listening to.

      3. All drugdealers are listening to Ross, but you don’t know about it because the only hood you ever seen was on TV.

    150. most of these rappers aint real niggas. Word, Nas bankrupt never was a drug runner, Lil Wayne aint no blood, Jeezy aint no BMF, 50 a snitch, Game a stripper. None of these niggas real you guys. If they was all real they all be dead now. Like it or not Ross is the new biggie.

      BAWSE!!!

      1. thats because youre listening to fake motherfuckers, go listen to Big Daddy Kane, KRS, Chubb Rock, OC, The Roots, KRIT, etcetcetc and come back

      2. Ok let me correct this list you made. Nas being bankrupt? What does that have to do with being real? And he did sell drugs and lived in the ghetto. lil wayne is a bitch yea. 50 never snitched, that was just shit murder inc was trying to say to make him look bad, like if I say you’re gay, just because I said it doesn’t make it true. Bangem smurf hates 50 and even he says 50 and yayo are real. game was a stripper but he grew up in compton and is a blood…..And you’re point of if they were real they’d be dead by now. 50 was shot 9 times, game was shot 5 times. Thats pretty close to death. But whatever listen to ross lie if you want, I’m just not into it.

      3. > thats because youre listening to fake motherfuckers, go listen to Big Daddy Kane, KRS, Chubb Rock, OC,

        LOL

      4. thats because youre listening to fake motherfuckers, go listen to Big Daddy Kane, KRS, Chubb Rock, OC, The Roots, KRIT, etcetcetc and come back

nobody in the hood listens to these motherfuckers, ross blasting out the drug dealer’s cars.

      5. celebrating drug dealers and gangsta’s is what’s keeps a peoples in ignorance.

Marcus garvey, malcom x, luther king – were real men who repped the people at all costs not these fake pepople trying to get you to believe, killing and poisoning your own people leads to greatness

    151. this album is okay at best listen to the only good songs are the ones he put out before he the album came out this is trash real talk he made it seem like this album was gonna be the best this ever dropped

    152. Hip Hop fans are some of the most self-righteous cats on the planet. Demand quality, download the shit out of music, demand free music in the form of mixtapes, then DON’T EVEN BUY the albums of the artists they “support”. Answer me this: What other genre of music do artist give away shit for free? Adele gotta new mixtape dropping between projects? Fuck. No.

      1. why should I buy something which I can get for free!!???don”t tell me that is to support the artist!! (cz they only get 10% of the sales!!)if u real want to support the artist just go to see their show ))

    153. Yea, can’t listen to a guy who grew up in the suburbs and was a cop talk about living in the ghetto as a drug dealer. Atleast 50 is real and if you say 50 snitched, please give me 1 example of how he snitched. I’ll wait…

    154. I just don’t get it !! why would buy something which u can get for free?u got your internet payed just download the shit.me I just got the CD and I’ m not impressed. I’m disappointed and frustrated for my 180MB)) only few songs are listenable and the rest is garbage . too much hype …too much hype!!!! self crowned “King” and never went platinum !!!But he knows how to manipulate people cz he took my 180 MB .Just disappointed!!!Hope Mik will give us something good (for download )

      1. lol keepin it realist alright. MY 180MB for fucks sakes! Although how is he supposed to go platinum with people like us?

      1. If you see the amount of work the haters put in in the light of Ross dropping another classics, you just know it’s true. Keep working hard, b, you just making Ross’ success all the more satisfying. Nothing more amusing than thousands of bitches crying and writing novels about a dude they claim to hate.

    155. 4 stars? 4 stars?! Are you kidding me? Pretty much every track sounds the same, uninspired lyrics, apparently he has to remind us he has floor seats to the heat in pretty much every track, … Not even close to album of the year and you’re giving him 4 stars? GTFO

      1. They Tech N9ne’s All 6’s and 7’s 4 stars. If you listen to that, you’ll forget who Rick Ross even is.

    156. Big Disapointment from Ross.
      Rap/Lyrics: 2/5
      Instrumental: 3/5
      Production: 4/5
      Features: 2/5
      Marketing and Design: 4/5
      All in All 3/5

    157. His getting very boring now at first i didn’t like him because he was a fraud then i just gave in because everybody else did but now i dont like him again its just the same old shit all the time and all the constant lying and boasting and fake hype is just not for me

    158. Fake ass ol fat ass donut eatin sorry motherfuckaa. Talk bout dese n*ggasz wanna hold me bak. The only thing holdin u bak is all dat weight n does tired ass lyrics. Fuck da police nigga!

    159. 3 stars

After all these albums, Ross is still missing something. Catchy songs, but most don’t grab you. Sixteen was one of the standout’s just cause it was different, but 3 Kings was shit.

    160. This is a more than a solid album. He actually stepped up his lyrics on this album. Can’t believe people still hatin on Rozay. The production alone is crazy I’m sure the south will be bangin this. KEEP PUSHIN MMG “DUVAL” Ridin with ya. This a Tuff Album

    161. Dre and Jay’s verses were shit. Especially Jay’s. We don’t give a fuck about your daughter’s room. If you’re just going to mail it in, then why even be on the song?

      1. Nah, you’re a joking dickrider in disguise. Shit’s the best album since Common’s The Dreamer/The Believer.

    162. crazy production on this one (except hold me back and 911, awkward how these are basically the same songs). will someone give the justice-league dudes some awards please? but lyrically ross needs to step out of his comfort zone and paint those nice pictures not only about money, cars and hoes! get some substance man! still a much better album than expected

      1. How he executes this lifestyle with writing techniques and chooses complimenting beats has been unseen since Bigge and G. Rap, dude’s on his way to legend status.

      2. I’m laughing at your comment because of how stupid it is. Ross isn’t even close to legendary status and he’ll never be at that level. All of his albums are weed plates and his songs suck ass.

      3. His legendary status is proven by you putting in so much work because you consider him and his success a threat, nobody cares about rappers who have no success. Ross is a legend, pull the trigger or get over it.

      4. In your world, he’s a legend. But in the real world, Ross isn’t even close. He hasn’t released anything close to being good.

      5. In your world, he isn’t a legend. But in the real world, Ross is. He sold hundreds of thousands of records, is featured and recognized by legends, from mainstream to underground and has a Metacritic of 70. And hundreds of miserable haters like you that spend their day writing lies about a guy they claim to hate.

      6. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Stop dickriding Ross. He’s not a legend, tons of rappers sold more than him, everyone’s kissing his ass because the music industry overhypes him, those reviews on Metacritic are OPINIONS and you’re doing that last shit with Nas. He’s a legend in YOUR world, but he’s not a legend in the real world. Dickriding bitch.

    163. Wow,all this hate. Why? Because he never went Platinum? You never went Platinum! To do so these times you have to go Pop, one thing not one of his album have been. Is it’s,because he was a Correctional Office? Your a bus boy! The man said to feed his kids he got two jobs!So you hating on the hustle, because its not in the streets? You can’t enjoy this album if your not True Hip Hop fan. This album has Lyrics,Great Production, it’s Not overly featured, and from the title to the last credit it send a message. That say I’m here to stay with or without you!Life is nothing with out growth and this album is truly a sign of that for him. #MMG

      1. Game got like 20 on every album, but nobody complained about that. How about starting to measure all by the same standards?

      1. ha ha ha from ur comments it seem you dude think u are beating Rick down but only to discovered that you are eleventh him to his top ha ha ha Haters do something good with you pussy ass life you

    164. so what ur sayin is that theres no ratings for storytellers, u think all these rappers r bussin slugs and selling kilo’s of coke???? com on son!!!!!

      1. Don’t take these haters seriously, that thumbnail of Ross’ video is burning straight through their souls.

      2. You just can’t jump off his dick. And this dude has the nerve to call others stans. I’m already waiting for the news of you handcuffing yourself to the gate of Ross’ mansion.

    165. Metacritic of 80, the highest first week offering of his career, already close to Nas’ comments and more haters with suicidal thoughts than your typical psychiatry. Damn, we made it.

      1. LOL. I would beat the shit out of you and compared to you I actually know what I talk about, I simply compared their rapping styles (they excell in the same departments) and you caught feelings for no reason being the soft bitch that you are.

      2. Another soft, insecure bich getting offended by a comment. Ross suprassed Bigge already and you will die while people only get more and more confident about the thought of putting Ross over Biggie.

      3. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

It’s official; you’re a Rick Ross dickrider. Your comments have no validation. Ross never surpassed Biggie EVER!! He never had a good verse. Ross is on Lil Wayne’s level, another wack nigga.

    166. Dude hung with every legend on his records and is producing classics non-stop, this is another legendary piece of music.

      1. Dude hung what? He appeared on records with legends, but he certainly didn’t hang. Sixteen all anyone talks about is Andre’s verse. 3 Kings everyone talks about how Jay freestyled his way to having the best verse. Triple Beam Dreams all I see is people discussing Nas’ verse. I don’t see anyone ever posting quotables from Ross. He got bodied on those songs. Just showing up on a song doesn’t mean he can hang.

    167. Nas wishes he could’ve come close to this musical masterpiece, no wonder that the beats on his collabos were the best he rapped on since Illmatic.

      1. Ricky you are killing dem, darn your fans all over the world feel you dude,Africans feel you dead tight brother keep it up with your swag cos ain’t no other pussy rappers stand up with swag

    168. A solid 3 album at best cool production for most tracks except the 911 and Hold me back beats which sound like the same shit we heard him on multiple times. Repetition is what keeps this from being a great album to me, while Ross stepped his lyrics ups his substance is repetitively boring.

    169. since when did this section turn into a bunch of f*ggot elitists who can’t handle when people have an opinion differing from theirs in regards to a musician? Did I miss where subjectivity was officially declared a dead concept? I mean hell, you even have a moron who says that he doesn’t even LISTEN to Rick Ross, but knows he’s bad, because, hey, he must be because he’s mainstream. I personally don’t enjoy Rick Ross’ rapping, but this is f*cking ridiculous.

      1. Hey, he is fat, rich and successful, so he has to suck at rapping. Dude does everything well from alliteration to structuring a song adlibs that actually make a song better, he will describe that lifestyle in an atmospheric manner only a very few are able to. People underrate the fuck outta the ability to to execute musical projects, to realize the shit that you envisioned for an album is sometimes way harder than to come up with a dope rhyme, so many talented rappers failing to record a decent song, let a alone a whole album is just exemplary to that.

“I go in the grave before I be a bich n-gga
Better behave you dealin with some rich n-gga
        we the lost symbols

I understand the codes these hackers cant crack

        Free Mason
        Free Lancer
        Free Agents, we faster
        Big contracts, big contractors
        built pyramids, period
        We Masters
no caterpillers, it was just a lot of n-ggas
A lot of great thinkers and a lot of great inventors
All white mansion, Im the child of God
All black diamonds times were hard
New Rolls Royce Guess you made it n-gga
all white neighbourhood you they favourite n-gga
        you they favourite n-gga
        my top back like JFK
they wanna push my top back like JFK
        So, So I JFK,
join forces with the kings and we ate all day
right now I could rewrite history
I stopped writing so fuck it
        Ill do it mentally”

No, he didn’t outshine Jay or Nas, but who does? I thnk he was pretty great on these songs.

      2. I have to give this question back to you, cause you’re on here writing more comments about him than his biggest stans, so how does his dick taste?

      3. You’re still avoiding facts, why are you on a site about a guy that you claim to hate? Ask Ross to suck his dick if you ever meet him in real life, he does’t read this shit, get over it, you dickrider in disguise.

      4. I defended him not in the slightest, I just stated facts. What are you doing on a site writing countless of comments about a dude you claim to hate?

      5. I stated the fact that you’re looking pathetic as fuck, bitching and crying on a site about a dude that don’t give a fuck. You can’t get over other people’s taste in music, you need therapy.

      6. Me? You’re the pathetic one here, defending a man that doesn’t know you. Also, people have shitty taste in music.

    170. Rick Ross raps about the same shit over and over and over. The lyrics are nice but its the same shit over and over. Perfect example is Nas accident murderers, Rick Ross is so off topic on that song, rappin bout the same shit he rap about on this album. I wonder how long it will take for everyone to realize this, until then get paid Rick lol

      1. Again, Rick Ross’ content is not more redundant than that of any other rapper. In case you haven’t noticed, subject matter doesn’t determine your lyrical ability. Raekwon, G Rap and Biggie have been rapping about the same shit for their whole career.

      2. But what separates an average rapper like Ross from those other 3 is his inability sound different rapping about the same topics over and over. On GFID he sounds more redundant than the others because his delivery, rhyme scheme and cadence never changes. BIG spit more flows on one album than Ross has his entire career. On top of that he was witty and could tell detailed stories from beginning to end.
Again, G Rap raps the same shit, but his flow has evolved amazingly since 87′ until now.
Now with Rae, he does sound the same on a lot of his songs, but he digs a lot deeper into the same topics that Ross does. Rae, like Big and G Rap is also an excellent story teller that leaves out very little. With Ross, all we get is the surface. GFID is a very shallow album.
For Ross to be on the level of those three he has to dig a little deeper with the content and show more range with his delivery/flow. Until then he’s just a basic rapper with a great ear for beats. That’s a fact! No hatin’ here. Critque like this will only make him better.

    171. Peace to the Five Percenters, online engine inventors

      Stay

      1. You mean biggest let down in history. Ross is a clown. Anyone that listens to Ross just keeps the flame burning for all this horrible rap that is unfortunately on the top right now. 0 stars for this phony rapper

    172. FUUQQ YEEZ MY NIKKAS

Hit em up – THEY WILL HELP U!!

    173. Fuck a critic, the people have spoken. The verdict, the albbum has decent production and 2 0r 3 good features but overall it’s a 3/5 nothing special at all.

    174. I got zero respect for this bitch ass nigga; I know the name stealing shit is old news, but i cant get over it. Dudes fake as fuck, and i know, i see people posting, “well ice cube, Dr. Dre, etc etc, arent real gangstas either…that shit dont even bother me. The fact that all this nigga talks about is how he sold drugs he didnt really sell. Why aint he rappin bout him time being a C.O or some shit? get the fuck out of here with the corny ass nigga, tech n9ne would demolish this chump. js. Dueces

      1. Dumbass he does talkinga bout him being a CO in Deeper than Rap & Teflon Don..there mentions of it stupid! Open ya fucking hears. A CO can still hustle crack on the side you idiot!

      2. I Agree 100% with this..People fall for the fake rappers like him Lil wayne n his punk ass crew who throws tempers at a radio dj for sayin a song is Pop n not Hip-Hop n a dude who throws bottles at girls in the club….Lets face it.. Real Rappers are Eminem jay-z kanye Ludacris Game J.Cole Kendrick Lamar n Nas…anything MMG or YMCMB is fake n phony n so are the fans who falls for this punk ass n his gimmicks…

      3. And you’re a retarded hater that will stay broke. Ross is fake, but so is any other rapper that ever grabbed a microphone. You’re trying to discredit someone that’s in SHOW business. This point is as worthless as your whole life. Kill yourself.

      4. Ooh. I’m so scared of this internet thug. (*sarcasm).

GTFOHWTBS. Ross is wack, period and I don’t congratulate wack rappers.

    175. You niggas are hating needlessly. The project is hot. It;s def not a classic or masterpeice, but Rozay made some hot tracks to bump in your whip. What more can you ask? He already delivered a classic album with Teflon Don, let him stay in his lane he’s one of the top in the game right now

      1. Ross’ best album was Port Of Miami. He should have hit platinum with that.. but like Jay’s “Reaonable Doubt” and Nas’ “Illmatic”… the classic don’t always move numbers

    176. Only 5 good tracks is bad for Ross.
GFID – disappointment of the summer
3 KINGS – disappointment of the year
      God Forgives, dougnuts don’t
      Bawse

    177. Pretty f*cking good album. Damn near flawless. I love the content, lyrics, beats & features. Rozay true student of the game & hip hop!

    178. This album sums up Rick Ross. Decent at best.

Decent radio music with nice beats and typical shit we’ve heard from him. Even when he gives us “content” it’s the typical few songs dedicated to “realness” all decent rappers do. 3/5

I honestly have no clue where people are getting that “this is a disappointment” stuff. Ross has never been great, at least not consistently, I knew what I was getting and pretty much got nothing more, nothing less

    179. This album is garbage…Rick Ross is Garbage…He is a CB4 Plastic wanna be emcee…he cant spit for shit…he raps about the same dumb useless shit like his last albums…i dont understand why mainstream America likes this idiot…Rick Ross….please stop making music….please stop butchering mainstream rap music…please give the real Rick Ross his name back

    180. PLEASE STOP TRYING TO RAP William Leonard Roberts II…YOU COULDNT IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT….God Forgives and he doesnt forgive you for trying to rap

    181. William has become popular with the kids by depicting the life style of a boss, or a don, two words that he loves.
His success in mimicking drug lords has brought him the ability to live like one of them.
He never cares to unpack the morals of the drug trade what he revels in is the security and relief of being fabulously wealthy.

    182. Horrible album, Ross forgets what solo album means, he depends on the guest stars too much, the only thing that is not garbage are some beatsbut Ross is just not a decent rapper.

      1. Good point. Game is another one. These guys are supposed to be solo artists. For once it would be nice for them to be able to prove that they can carry an album on their own. That’s the definition of “solo”.

      1. Stay listening to Nas’ broke ass telling you lies about money, drugs and bitches on “The Don” and “Nasty”.

      2. Nas never talked about that shit on those two songs. Nas makes better music. Stay listening to your retarded, fake, cop-turned-gangsta simpleton raps.

      3. Nas released Hip Hop Is Dead and is now bowing down to the ringtone industry, he signed to Jay and Def Jam after calling them an “evil empire”. #FACTS

      4. You’re a bi-polar ass, faggot ass, bitchmade nigga that switches between stanning and hating. I don’t even want to son you anymore, you’re punished enough with your existence.

        Just enjoy this:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmt19M4yLdM

        and this:

“Nas then joined him onstage, and the two performed Jay-Z’s “Dead Presidents” (1996) together, a song that featured a prominent sample of Nas’s “The World Is Yours” (1994). The reconciliation created the opportunity for Nas to SIGN A DEAL WITH DEF JAM RECORDINGS, OF WHCH JAY-Z WAS PRESIDENT AT THE TIME. HE SIGNED NAS IN JANUARY 2006.”

The only rapper feature on Life Is Good: Rick Ross.

Artists he featured before that: Tyga, Nelly, Lil’ Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross.

You’re sad, you love a grown man that isn’t aware of your existence, Nas would probably slap the shit out of you for being ashamed that somebody like you calls himself a fan, you’re retarded without even knowing it.

    183. this album is damn near a classic and all i hear from people on hear is if he is real or fake who really cares people this is a music site not about someones personal life this is what id wrong with hiphop if you want buy a hot album because you dont like what someone did for a livin then your not a true hiphop fan in my eyes! by the way 5 star album best of the year even better than nas album and thats just bein honest!

      1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! GFID is another wack album from William. It sounds like the last 4 with William’s weak, boring, repetitive rhymes about money, drugs, and bitches. The production was weaker than previous albums. This shit is another 1 star weed plate.

BTW, Life Is Good shits on this album any day. GFID, worst album of the year.

      2. ^^^^^^^^
LOL. I got the Ross stan shook. Don’t me made at me, I’m just the messenger. The truth does hurt, doesn’t it?

    184. most of these rappers aint real niggas. Word, Nas bankrupt never was a drug runner, Lil Wayne aint no blood, Jeezy aint no BMF, 50 a snitch, Game a stripper, 2pac a ballerina. None of these niggas real you guys. If they was all real they all be dead now. Like it or not Ross is the new biggie.

      BAWSE!!!!!

      1. oh yeah, and he lied about it. then it came to light and suddenly he was “an officer for the streets.” gtfoh with that shit nigga if ross is the new biggie i want every hip hop listener dead

      2. so in that case gucci should be the highest selling rapper ever all these niggas rap about guns and murder but he the only one with 2 bodys and got off so go buy gucci shit or shut up about rappers being fake

      1. One song did not shut down Murder. It was 50 & G-Unit snitchin in all they’re songs & the FEDS brought down Murder Inc. SMH

    185. Who says people cant Dance with Jesus and have fun? if people can dance at clubs, parties and concerts why not start DANCING WITH JESUS and have even more fun?
Dancing with Jesus is a song which brings anyone and everyone regardless of where they come from, the color of their skin tone, the money in their wallets, or even if they are homeless into happiness and joy as they are uplifted into the spirit of Jesus, letting go of all their problems, sicknesses, judgements, fears as well as what the world may think of them. This song brings people of all corners and walks of life together to break free and DANCE WITH JESUS. The WORLD WILL DANCE WITH JESUS.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61Vi7yOWWak

    186. do you niggas seriously not care that this puppet was a COP. are we just choosing to forget about that and throw our money at this fat ape? dude has an IQ of 2 and has never formulated a solid lyric ONCE. he doesn’t make beats so stop giving him props for his production. HE GETS GOOD BEATS BECAUSE HE’S A MILLIONAIRE AND YOU THROW YOUR MONEY AT HIM NIGGAS. so what does he do exactly? write some of the shittiest lyrics known to man and fills them with lies about a life of crime he never lived. you listen to rick ross because you’re a simpleton who wants to feel like a thug, not because he is talented in any way. According to hiphopdx, this album is just as good as the new Nas album. that is fucking laughable

      1. ain’t ross on nas’ new album? you just shitted on you and made your whole comment invalid. kill yourself.

      2. the album is pretty solid, the subject matter of drugs, guns, bitches and riches is a little tired, the production is very tasteful with the exception of the beats that sound similar to every other beat from the last 10 months of southern hip hop, i like addition of 3000, Dre, jay z and nas

I just hope one day he takes a step past the same subject material he writes about and takes his gift as entertainer to another level

who cares what he does in real life? its entertainment ?

AL pacino never killed a soul
sam jackson aint never shot nobody?
Tom cruise has never run for his life?
and finally kaiser soze is gay?

rick ross is an entertainer i play his music when the mood strikes
        i like nas album more!

and finally Kaiser Soze is really gay

      3. the lowest point on nas’ album was the ross feature. i was pretty upset about that, choose a lyricist and not a poser who knows 8-10 words in the english language

    187. You wanna be the hottest, but that shit get complicated / I pull your card, I know youre pussy by your conversation / Show you the safe youll have to kill me for the combination / Made another two milli just off the compilation”

lol uneducated black people just eat this up don’t they. tell me what part of this shit is dope. TELL ME. i’d love to hear it. is it because he’s rich, and when you listen to him you feel rich too? god the world is stupid. stay away from thought-provoking rap at all costs or your friends might actually think you do more than eat, sleep and fuck.

      1. urghh. shut the fuck up. you will never convince people about your point of view because they don’t need a form of entertainment to educate them. what do you do? eat, sleep, fuck and bitch? dumb asshole. not to mention that you would be all over this if nas dropped these lines.

      2. he’s too busy dropping knowledge. not sure where the lilo and stitch line is from but finish the bar…bet it still tops anything on this album. nas uses a variety of flows too, that’s what you’re supposed to do as a rapper. ross uses…well, one. is it even unique? nope. put weezy’s voice on it and its weezy’s flow. put drake’s voice on it, its drakes flow. all these mainstream flows just mesh together, i don’t know how you can’t see that. lets not even start a lyric argument, you’re gonna lose lil nigga

      3. or lines like “I front like my doo doo don’t stink” or masterpieces like “she ain’t a politician, honey’s a pole-o-tician”. he uses a variety of flows? lol. that’s the reason he has been sounding the exact same for 20 years. and nas, selling 150k first week and going on 1 ain’t mainstream now? nas is wack and that’s why he tries to stay relevant by featuring ross. he’s to scared of guys with a real flow like az.

    188. real niggas shoulda merked this slobbering idiot back when he caught lying about being a police officer. hiphopdx forgives; i don’t

      1. shut up, you fucking keyboard warrior. real niggas in the hood are listening to ross while your mad ass be writing comments about what real niggas should do.

      2. real niggas in the hood dont give a fuck about hip hop forums they prolly dont have computers there out on the corner and wouldn’t be talkin about it for the world to see you wannabe’s

      3. does that in any way dispel the fact that he was a COP? no

don’t know a lot about real niggas, seeing as how i’m just a real person, but i’m pretty sure they aren’t in law enforcement lying about it.

      4. How did you come to the conclusion that cops can’t be criminals? You really that naive? This is entertainment, if you want to see and hear real niggas, walk to the next hood near you.

    189. THE ALBUM IS WACK HEARD IT NOTHING REALLY CRAZY ON ALBUM ALL STREET HYPE MAYBE GOLD NOT PLATINUM STOP PUTTING OUT WACK MUSIC PEOPLE

    190. just sooooo meh…… absolutley great beats and as typical ross has gooten slightly better but if not for the high quility of beats this has i wouldn’t even given it the first listen

    191. Hip Hop dx talking lies once again… “Miami rapper has largely shed his initial caricature as a dope boy” … wait you mean his career in law enforcement?

    192. the issue isnt that he was a CO, the issue is when he was confronted about it he LIED NUMEROUS TIMES and when the truth came out he STILL tried to make it seem like what it wasnt if you listen to interviews too the dude talks real slick about otha niggas but cant even be real wit hisself and im just suppose to support this fake shit? wtf has the game come tyo when we let clowns run wreckless and not pay for it!? just proof that the game is full o fake niggas smdh

    193. Album was mediocre, I dont care about all the CO shit I liked Deeper then Rap & Port of Miami but this album was a miss

    194. The hate on this site (and I mean ONLY this site. Everyone else loves it.) for this album is so uncalled for. Ya’ll are so fuckin lame its sick.

This album deserves 4 stars for “Maybach Music IV”, “Sixteen”, and “Amsterdam” alone. The transitions between those songs might be the illest orchestration since Late Registration. Incredible musicality. Ross said it best on “Sixteen”:

      “It’s funny because
      We could short change you
      But because we love you
      We go that extra mile”

Respect the mans craft. Real men respect the hustle. Only woman and FAGGOTS gossip and fuss the way ya’ll do. This album is probably not a classic but please STOP HATING. Fuckin faries piss me off.

      1. I have to co-sign. 2.67 average ranking from yall?? Cmon man. This album is not as bad as yall are making it out to be. Fuck yall.

      2. Exactly. Every forum is loving this shit. The comment section on here drags this site down, waaaay too many fags and clowns.

      3. Nah, I see bitch niggas crying because Ross is succeeding at a level they will never come close to. What is it about you depressive fucks letting other people enjoy one’s music? Get some help.

      4. I don’t give a fuck how successful that nigga is, his music is still garbage. Ross stans using the overused “money/success” excuse to defend their favorite rapper.

      5. It’s very frustrating and annoying to see some PHONY ASS muthafucka gettin money off of bullshitting and lying about his life. That’s a crock of shit man. Rick Ross, the fakest rapper ever, and pretty fuckin wack too.

    195. Problem isnt that he was a co, problem is that hes big phat phony, he stole his whole persona. everything about him is fake and so are all of yall for listening to him. Fuck him and everyone who accept and stand for dudes like this in hiphop. Blah.

      1. What about his music would change if he was real? Authenticity has nothing to do with the quality of your music.

      2. @ Anonymous:
Well says you, to me being true to yourself is important in a person, rapper or not. It just hurts your feelings that your favorite rapper is a big fat phony…which makes you a sucker for buying in to it. Btw since you made this discussion about the quality of music, Ross is no way near quality music, phony or not, you just got shit taste.

    196. I can’t respect someone who steals somebody else’s name then try to claim the credit for it smh you people are sheep forget this ringtone, mtv, radio rapper

      1. meek mills did the same, its another meek millz from naam brigade in pilly who was fighting a murder charge an who been had that name for years an its his real name far as meek goes but mmg meek name is robert…two name stealin niggas

    197. if u a real nigga then u would pull your dick out and jack off while u watch rick ross speak, thats real , like any real nigga i got turned on but not in no gay homo way, on some real shit and started to stroke my dick when i felt a buldge in my pants get hard, and just stroked my dick until i felt all the cum spray out, thats real shit right there from seeing a real nigga speak made my dick hard and i had to take care of that for real

      BAWSE!!!!!!!!

      1. You are the biggest faggot on this site. You pretend you’re one of the fakest rappers in the game. What a total faggot.

    198. really don’t like this album.. sixteen is the only good song in my opinion, 3 Kings probably comes next and for him to say he is a king is simply a joke

    199. I’m all for real music. As Pac said support the real not the fake but that being said this is music. People need to stop making this a real vs fake issue. You can listen to introspective music and “fake” music. Your not always serious in life just like your not always joking around. There’s a balance needed in almost everything in life music is no different.

I’m with yall who support the real Pac my fav of all time fuck ross, wayne and all these fakes but we can’t take away the fact that Officer Ricky makes good music and when i listen to his music its mostly for the production/soulful beats and features like on this album. ENJOY THE MUSIC and listen to both.

As for as the album only 3 bad tracks 8,9 and 10 the rest is dope i’d give the album 7.5/10 best track being Ten Jesus Pieces.Me personally I prefer soulful production then the trap production.

All that being said download this album and enjoy it but don’t support it. Support the real and not Officer Ricky.

    200. While not really a thuggish/bling music listener, I grew to appreciate the smooth persona of Deeper than rap. But this album in no way reaches the quality of Deeper than.. of Teflon don.
      Disapointed

    201. though the review is pretty poorly written, i honestly don’t understand all the hate directed at this record. the recording quality is EXCELLENT, the mix is clear and nicely spatialized, there’s some live instrumentation, the arrangements of horns and keys are soulful, the basslines are fat, the kicks thump and the snares are pretty damned snappy. to me, it demonstrates that the producers have actually paid attention to the history of black music, which is pretty rare in this era of ringtone beats, haunted house melodies, rat-a-tat-snares, and kids mashing on the low end of their keyboards to get “bass.” There’s stylistic nods to (but no outright biting of) a lot of top producers on this record, from early Outkast to Screw, to Dilla.

There’s a bunch of debate in this thread about whether dudes in the “hood” listen to this over some other stuff… unless you’re living vicariously through the stories of black criminals (and you’re a voyeur vulture if you do), trying to identify with them through rap, that just doesn’t matter.

this ongoing obsession with “reality” (in the 21st century where nothing you see or hear is free of digital manipulation) is stupid, and here i agree with everyone who points out that this is just “entertainment;” which is true. but at the same time, ever since $0.50, rappers have been held to this standard of living what you rap, where bullet scars, beaten cases and jail records are a form of credibility.

That started with NWA and pretty much ended with Curtis and Shawn, who set the standard for blowing up beyond one’s history. Ross is subject to this standard, and gets tripped up by his cop history. Whatever. I don’t live a life that can be ruined by snitches, so i can’t invest anything in that critique.

Sure, Ross has about one and a half flows, a two styles of cadence, and about three topics, but to me he seems to put a lot of effort into operating within those constraints… and I think he has actually improved. He’s a bit melodramatic for my tastes, and that little signature bark is kinda wack, but he clearly basks in the music and his guest features.

Now, I have to be honest: I don’t look to the Scarface model of success as a source of inspiration, or a motivation to get out of bed every morning. I don’t dream of the cars, women, criminal or music industry connections he claims he has… But apparently a lot of the people who comment here do… they “feel” Rick. Maybe because their lives are really hard and in the quiet moments of their grind they get on the Internet to read music reviews and argue with people.

He has the attention of millions, but in my opinion wastes it by giving them exactly what they expect. If anything, Rozay (a light pink wine, by the way) sells his audience short.

But that’s how you make money in America; educating or challenging your customers in a mass medium like “bawse rap” (or consumer electronics) is the quickest way to lose your customers!!!

      Thanks for reading!

      1. The production on this album, while it’s nice, is nothing special. Just a lot of computer-made trap/R&B beats seen in hip-hop. Everything else, I agree with. To me, this is a weak album. The only good thing about it is the production and features. Lyrically and content wise, there’s no improvement. Critics overrate this album too much. It’s a 2/5 for me.

    202. One love to the forum for recognizing that Rick Ross is garbage and in 2 years he’ll just be another 50 Cent. Washed up and putting out music for free cause niggas won’t buy it. I don’t care that he did 200,000 that’s still a drop off from the last record. The rap game chew these rap posers up and bleed em dry. Hip-Hop forever. Rick Ross shoot yourself, but before you do shoot Wale. Lol.

      1. ummmm newsflash, he will never be 50. ross worth 25 mil 50 gotta a few hunnit.ross prolly sold maybe 3mil in 5 albums 50 sold 10mil plus 1st album, 6mil 2nd album 3 mil third album and idk bout 4th i know at least gold…. ummmm 50 or ross which one?????hmmmmmmmmmmm stfu plz

    203. Rick ross is the most predictable rhymer around. All of his lyrics sound like they were borrowed from the song he did before the one that u r currently listening to..rich forever was and still is my shit. But god forgives I don’t is trash

    204. The album is a mix.

-I think his lyrics are good. The shit he says and raps about is always the same tho.
-Beats are decent. Some beats sound the same almost like they changed minor things between them.
      – Theres a lot of girly songs on here. The tracks with Drake, Omarion, Ne-yo, etc… theyre kinda soft. Thats about 4-5 tracks that are like on some Drake type shit.

      – Overall, not a stand out album even in his own collection. Its a solid album. In all honesty, say what you want but Rick Ross in probly one of the top I’ll say 10 rappers right now that are actually talented. He’s only downfall is the fact that he raps about a lot of the same things which make you look overlook hes skills.

    205. Terrible, terrible album. I don’t like officer Ricky at all but considering that 1 is the most popular ranking I listened to figure out why this forum gives him 4 or 5’s for his past projects. My conclusion is that the industry is bored with you, tired of the Maybach chant and your washed up talent, Wale and Tyga are trash too. Why the long delay? If you delay an album for 8 months its to make improvements not make your fans to wait for trash like this. Your career is going down the toilet thank God, but its your own fault for not being innovative and fresh. Your wack as hell Ross. Boss!!!!

    206. Whack album. I would like to have heard the album he had planed to come out with had come out in October 2011. This album is soft.

    207. I dont know what niggas is smoking out here This album is average non to write about sixteen is a hot joint thanx to 3000 he went in but either then that i wasn’t feeling it as much as i felt Illustrious which is one hot mix tape the album didn’t meet expectation and I meant to rate it 2 and ahalf

    208. People need to grow up,mature n b aware of ur surroundings n the changes in life..everything evolves..like seriously wtf? Yall expect shit to remain da same? F dat.pac n rappers from the earlier eras were living in a different era n the content in their music was mostly feflecting on that…I love the old school rappers,I’m neither biggie nor pac fan..I love em both coz they had different messages…wat yall shud undastand is dat times hav changed n rappers in this era rap abt the times they are living in..wit dat said I am nt encouraging the bullshit music that most of the current rappers produce..In this hiphop era I appreciate a rappers effort n the respect he has 4 the listeners out there..yes ross does ristrict he’s creativity coz he dsnt move away from his comfort zone hence he talks abt similar topics in his craft..bt u cnt deny dat he takes time to produce content worthy of our attention in contrast to the ymcmb n all these other artist who produce content that sounds like it took em a few minutes to think n make…I rate this album a classic becoz the production is timeless..this is an album that I 1stly got online(leaked) and after hearing a few tracks I went out n bought coz I cudnt undermine the fellas effort…music is a reflection of a persons mind state n the previous albums cannot be compared to this coz the state of mind wsnt the same n life experiences wre more…listen to the album n understand or try to get wat ross is portraying..music is an art n its needs a bit of imagination from the listener as well..ross has been in the game long enough to knw he’s highs and lows..remember,its better to improve n grow wit ur career than to produce a few “classics” n bow out early becoz u reached ur peek to soon..ross has a long way to go..give the man a break n grow wit his music…50cent peeked to early n its over 4 him..eva heard of sustainable development?…open up ur minds ppls, shit aint the same…

      1. you have got to be on some drug that hasn’t hit the streets yet.. A classic? It has nothing to do with change bro..slide rick ross dick out ya ass son..Drugs, cars, eating good, and tricking on women been around before all our favorite rappers. Rick ross albums are predictable. he needs features on his songs.. why? cause its hard for him to complete a full song himself. He doesn’t have the ability. He hasn’t grown. His production is the shit and he has good flow. But his whole persona is not him..HIs ab lib he took from biggie. He has never gone platinum and still won’t. Have u heard rick ross spit a freestyle? He is what u call a studio rapper.. he lays verses and the producers and engineers clean it up..The mans verses sometimes makes no sense at all…a classic? classic bullshit..its flies all over it.. Still gonna make u move ur head cause it sounds good but ricky rozay time is running out. He hasn’t even had one classic song let alone a album. YOu need rehab

    209. there is no way these writers and music insiders are really genuine in accessing rick ross. This guy is pure garbage with meaningless and sometimes incompetent rhymes. He has a couple of ok lines here and there but he has no linear path to rhyming. I will say no matter his lyrics he does make it sound good and he can rap.. in the studio anyway. He is no MC but thats neither nor there. Ross is terrible. He spends all this money, tricks on the baddest bitches buying shoes, purses, trip, and paying bills. Biggest dope boy ever oh yea he eats good. Where is the relevance? I dig that all music serves a purpose . To put in plain perspective if it were not for his production team and his flow regardless of trash lyrics he wouldn’t be given so much press. But he has never gone platinum and he won’t this time either so maybe not many others are fooled either. plus the dude can’t hold a album himself..He needs features.. does anyone recognize this? Please the industry needs to call these people out. Everyone is politically correct and its sickening.

    210. Im really enjoying the album. It was a pleasant suprise to hear the depth of production based on his current mixtapes. The album has a classy feel that makes it suitable to be called maybach music. This album(I believe)was done this way intentionally to make the listner grow into it.Overall I give this album a 3.75/5.mmmmmmmmaybach music.

    211. Fat Fake Fraudulent Fuck, says he has 50 M’s in the bank. Bitch!!! Shut the fuck up, just another thing you’re lying about!! GIve up you fuckin PHONY!

    212. I am not an critic but this sounds damn near identical to tha last 3 albums same themes same drug kingpin persona when he never sold shii smh

    213. ja rule bitch slappin’ niggaz left and right, he’ll bitch slap rick ross for not doin’ a song with him on the motherfuckin’ album, NIGGA!

    214. I brought this album thinking that is was going to be good… I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! Only good album Ross has had was Deeper Than Rap… Had good features like Nas!!! This album is trash… 2 decent songs on the whole album… With Andre3000 kills an Jay Z kills… i give this album 1 1/2 stars out of 5… which seems a bit high for 2 tracks!!! i should have brought slaughterhouse album instead… Oh an Nas album 4/5 best album of the year with Ja Rule’s PIL2

      1. 1 Pirates is the beat song
2 Nas suck. He has the best lyrics, but he is so boring.
        3 WTF? Ja Rule? Really?
4 This album may not be that good, but you think it would sell 218,000 in the first week? Ja Rule only sold 3,200. Ja Rule is sorry.

      2. ja’s PIL2 was a great album…my top 5 of this era…j cole, jon connor, nipsey hussle , lloyd banks, cyhi the prince.

    215. It kills me how all of a sudden its 2012 and ppl young and old (for the past 12 years) have been all of a sudden overly critical about every lyric, beat, style, team, verse, wateva that comes out of every artist mouth now adays. It’s like them comic book geeks who wait for years for movies to drop just so they can shit talk about it and not take it as what it was. I personally like the album. Its a good definition of great stuff in new times which I have to admit is rare. But truth be told it’s as rare as it’s ever been. PPL act like biggie and pac especially didnt make weak tracks pac had mad wack songs before he was crowned that nigga. The waves are no different. Biggie and Pac was just the first and almost only two niggas ever of their calabare who died at the height of their wave. Say that shit neva happened and Ross got shot 2 weeks from now. God Forgives and I don’t would be crowned a classic and ross would be the greatest to have eva did it. PPL minds to small to realize that hip hop/rap aint been round dat long. Give dis shit time and the artists a chance or else we gonna loose it and it a neva come back. Over thinkitive ass mufuckas

      1. i kinda feel ya but i dont believe people gonna call rozay suddenly best eva did it etc if he dies, god forbid, pac and biggie where bigger than hiphop itself theyre not the only mc’s who have passed away and all those others never had the impact big and pac had so i kinda disagree with what you tryna say. i do agree the overcritisism on errthing. anyway rick ross is noy my kinda rapper but i respect his effort makin music for his fans

    216. It was a good album. Ross is actually a pretty good MC and I used to hate him back in the day. But he’s got skills. His beat selection is good but he overloads his albums with too many features. That seems to be thing of this generation. He should shine on his own shit more.
