Bun B’s not the only Houston emcee who’s stepping to the front of the university classroom. H-Town veteran Z-Ro announced earlier today in a Tweet that he is now teaching a class at Houston Community College. The emcee, born Joseph McVey, is now teaching a history class about Houston’s Hip Hop scene at the school.
Headed to HCC to teach Houston Hip Hop History! Class is at 11am. Northwest campus, shout out to Mr. Lewis and God for making it possible!
Z-Ro’s announcement comes right on the tail of news that Bun B is co-teaching a Hip Hop and Religious Studies class at Rice University. The Underground King caught up with XXLMag.com to talk about the experience of stepping into the teacher’s shoes.
“I’ma have office hours and shit where you can come in and talk about my motherfucking albums or some shit,” he said. “I will be looking to see who’s in class everyday; you may get priority for perfect attendance. Pay attention to me, I’ma pay attention to you.”
The full interview with Bun can be seen below.

This headline actually…shocked…me
King of the ghetto has entered academia. Z-Ro is one of the realist rappers in the game.
I like this right here, it’s a good look.
Not a fan of Z-Ro, but I’m glad Hip Hop is starting to be recognized as an art form worthy to be studied.
