Yung Berg Admits Turning Down Ray J’s Offer To Appear On “I Hit It First”

Yung Berg’s biggest hit to date featured Ray J, in 2007’s “Sexy Can I.” The song notably appeared on both Ray J’s All I Feel album, as well as Berg’s Look What You Made Me. The platinum single was released at a time when Berg and Ray were label-mates on a brief merger between Epic Records and Koch Records (n/k/a eOne Entertainment).

Over five years removed from that success, Yung Berg was one of the first people Ray J contacted when crafting his Raydiation 2 single. However, Yung Berg, who has never been a stranger to controversy, refused the opportunity to appear on “I Hit It First.”

“As far as [‘I Hit It First’, Ray J] actually sent me the record four months before the song came out and they wanted me to get on the song, but through the content…that wasn’t my story,” said the former DMX protege and Bloodline Records act to Page 31. “I told him respectfully that I didn’t want to do the record, but we could do anything else and I just wanted to stay away from that because it wasn’t my truth.”

Instead, Ray J enlisted rapper Bobby Brackens to appear on his KO/Fifth Amendment Entertainment single.

The “truth” Berg may be referring to, is that the song seems to play on the fact that Ray J had a relationship with Kim Kardashian before her current companion and father of her child, Kanye West. The song’s video and artwork both seems to be an homage to both West and Kardashian. In interviews, Ray J has waved off these notions as coincidence.

Yung Berg has not released an album since 2008. In February of this year, he released the Genesis mixtape with Mia Rey and Jordan Hollywood.

    1. this guy shouldnt be turning away ANYONE in anygame- your buzz is on sub zero and you got clowned for your chain numerous times..and you dared turned down an artist for a feature at a time where noone in the universe is lookin for ya!?!? HAHA

well strike that up to bad life decisions. along with superhead and your transformer chain

      1. Or it could be the Berg can recognize an L now before he takes one. That song came and went and nobody anywhere gave a fuck. Not Kanye, not Kim, nobody. It would’ve earned him no stripes. Berg got a nice ill situation producing and hasn’t been beat down in a minute so no need to catch somebody else’s heat.

      2. Actually that was his best decision ever, fuck the buzz that’s not his fight he got enough of those going, if he had got on “i hit it first” he woulda got hit first. That song made Ray J look like a pussy deprived simp living in the past and he would’ve just drug Yung Berg further down.

      3. stop it- well all know these comments are from the same ppl noone be going to young berg blogs- i just ctfu when i heard this bec berg needs ANY buzz he can get– and i hit it first is actually pretty dope. and berg didnt have to rap about fuckin kk. he could of used his own experience with a chick..

        the song actually gets rotation.

      4. Yo, LOLLLLL is a Ray-J fan!! BWAHAHAHAHAH!! He is in here going hard for the boy!! That’s funny! LOLLLL, you’re a LAAAAAAME!! I think you realized after your first comment (I scrolled down the list and saw your pathetic stance multiple times) got such negative feedback, but were too far in to recant. Mac Miller >> Ray-J

      5. how stupid are you^ who said i dont like mac miller? i listen 2 a few mac songs but im not a big fan. and ray j cool he came w a banger i liked it ..so the fuck what? im lookin out for jayz, eminem, pusha, wu n all them so whats that mean confucious?

and whats worse than someone going hard for ray-j..a bitch ass mf going hard for yung berg LOL.

atleast the person im sidin w is known for smashin bad hoes..berg known for gettin smacked n robbed..so whos rly the sucka?

    2. you do realize that you look like a bigger douche for saying something like that, because atleast he has his morals straight and it wasn’t about money or 15 mins of fame he didn’t want to sellout and be a part of something his heart wasn’t in good for young berg if all you have left is yourself pride keep it.

      and as for you well……..

      1. SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU FRUITCAKE. YOU IN RAP TO GET A BUZZ AND BERG ALL ABOUT THE BITCH SONGS. MISSED A GOOD OPP TO GET HIS NAME OUT THERE AND FUCKED IT UP. LOL HE STAYIN POLAR NOW (COLD BUZZ)

      2. You still on that buzz shit? Ray J looked mad thirsty and pathetic making that song, KK been moved on at least 3 times since Ray J. There are more important things in life than getting your name out there. Rotation or not Ray J took an L putting out that song and Yung Berg did right.

      3. we all know as soon as kim has the baby and things get boring that kim gonna get railed out by athletes and rappers alike..hoes r hoes prego or not

      1. I guarantee you it is not, and that’s all you can say which doesn’t take anything away from the responses you get for your idiotic comment. Make it so bad nobody likes Yung Berg, yet your trolling failed and you’re just mad and want to justify it and since that didn’t work now you’re convinced it gotta be the same person like that even would matter, though it’s not.

      2. whats my idiotic comment? that i liked ray j song and i thought yung berg (whose buzz is as cold as an iceberg) get on a song that got hype and play, so he can get looked at again in the rap world? yeah your right im a big idiot.. smh

      3. And you said that to say what? The song got play yeah but he still played himself (ray j). It’s off the rotation now, if YB wanted to ride that wave he would’ve said this when it dropped not 2 months later.
