Young Thug has been given permission to communicate and work with Gunna, despite a condition of his plea agreement which prevents him from contact with his YSL crew.
During the hearing which finalized Thugga’s plea deal on Thursday (October 31), attorney Brian Steel accepted the condition that prevents his client from interacting with his co-defendants in the City of Atlanta’s YSL RICO Case.

However, Steel requested that both Thug’s brother, Quantavious Grier, and Gunna (born Sergio Kitchens) be excluded from that list. Both men accepted their own plea deals in the case last December.
“He’s a phenomenal artist,” he told Judge Paige Whitaker. “Mr. Williams and Mr. Kitchens are contractually obligated and they frequently perform music together.”
Young Thug will have no contact with any of the other co-defendants in his ongoing RICO trial, but he specifically asks for two exemptions:
His biological brother, and Gunna.

Additional details about Young Thug’s deal with the prosecution in his RICO case emerged in the hours following news that the rapper was set to be released on probation due to a partially commuted prison sentence.
Kurrco reported via X (formerly Twitter) that the full conditions of his release ban him from being in his hometown of Atlanta and the city’s extended metro area for the next ten years. Exceptions will be made for family gatherings limited to weddings, funerals, graduations and serious illness.

The “Ski” rapper must also return to Metro Atlanta four times a year to participate in anti-gang/gun presentations or concerts.
Additionally, Young Thug will be allowed to travel for work purposes only and is forbidden from promoting any gang-related content.

Young Thug was set to be released from the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, GA on Thursday, just hours of pleading guilty to all counts against him in the case, aside from the charge of racketeering and the charge of being a gang leader. To those, he pleaded nolo contendere – which means he neither admits nor denies a charge.
In a livestream clipped shared to X (formerly Twitter) less than two hours after the plea was entered, Judge Whitaker is heard breaking down Thugga’s sentence, which officially totals 40 years.
“Essentially is 40 years, to serve the first five years in prison,” she explains, but commuted to the time that you have already served. Followed by 15 years on probation. Followed then by the back-loaded 20 years; which can be served in custody and will be serve in custody if you are not successful on your probation. If you are successful in completing your 15 years probation, that will be commuted to time served.”
Before the clip ends, Whitaker adds that Young Thug is to remain on active reporting status for the first seven and a half years of his probation.

Combined, the commuted 5-year-sentence and the backloaded 20-years total out to the prosecutions’ sentencing recommendation, which, per independent court reporter Meghann Cuniff, was to have Thug to serve 25 years in prison.
