Young Guru Shares Proof Of JAY-Z Recording ‘GOD DID’ Verse In One Take

Young Guru has released concrete proof that JAY-Z did indeed spit his feature verse on DJ Khaled‘s Billboard chart-topping album track “GOD DID” in one take.

On Sunday (September 4), Guru shared a post on Instagram featuring a slideshow of two photos from the session he recorded HOV’s verse, which both show one audio recording for the entire session.

In the lengthy caption of the post, JAY-Z’s longtime engineer not only doubled down on his initial claims but also broke down the elite level of preparation HOV engages in before even hitting the booth to record a verse of that magnitude.

“This is first and last time I’m gonna do this,” Young Guru wrote. “I could care less if you believe me when I say that he did this @djkhaled verse in one take. Let’s be clear for the youth. Doing a song in one take is just a bonus of the level of talent. The song is what is important.

“You have to realize how much work is done before he goes in the booth. Questions like, ‘are these the right words’, ‘are you going in the right direction’, ‘is this the best flow’ are all answered and addressed mentally way before you record. Then you say the verse over and over in the control room to memorialize it.”

He continued: “Does jay do EVERY verse in one take? No. But has he done A LOT of verses in one take? Hell yes!!! I have no reason to [Hat/cap emoji]! Look at the zoom in of the screen. There are no chops or breaks in that audio. This ‘I don’t believe you unless I see it’ thing is foreign to me. So here is your proof. It doesn’t matter if you believed me…..God Did!!!”

The candid pics add to the saga Young Guru first started last month when he revealed he watched JAY-Z record his four-minute verse in one take with his own eyes during a listening session with GQ’s Frazier Thorpe and Rob Markman of Genius and DJ Khaled.

However, on August 31 during a Twitter Spaces conversation with MSNBC news anchor Ari Melber, Rob Markman and DJ Khaled, among others, JAY-Z seemingly dismissed the weight of Young Guru’s claim by explaining how he feels he cheated the delivery of the verse.

“So while we was waiting for you to send the beat, we was just playing the [loop] inside the control room; so I was going through it a couple times,” JAY-Z told DJ Khaled. “I was just rapping over like, any part, it kept looping and drops was happening in the wrong place.”

He then admitted: “So I cheated a couple times before I went in the booth, I was playing it in the control room; so when I went in the booth it was pretty much a done deal.”

Young Guru’s photographic proof of JAY-Z’s one-take verse for “GOD DID’ follows several other major co-signs on the potency of HOV’s bars. Along with NBA champion Lebron James, MSNBC anchor Ari Melber was also a fan of the verse, and released a nearly 12-minute breakdown Beat report on JAY-Z’s behemoth guest feature — which was uploaded to Apple Music, Spotify and TIDAL by the Roc Nation head honcho.

    1. Jesus, man…the verse was dope, but the way y’all are promoting it, its quickly becoming the most overrated verse in hip-hop history. What’s next…a slow-motion replay of Jay recording the verse with his eyes closed while rolling a blunt with his big lips?

    2. Damn yall bust a nut everytime Jay drops something. Sorry the verse was cool but I can name 5 verses better than his that came out this year. Not taking anything from Jay but yall act like everything he drops is straight fire by default. Nas has progressing with his albums. Conceptually and lyrically. Jay always talking about what hes made, what he has, who he put on…”HOV DID!” Has to alwYs make it about himself. Lets he real. Give credit where its due. The verse was dope! But damn if yall act like Jesus reincarnated in this cerse by himself.

      1. Exactly, Nas dropped 3 classic albums with varied age appropriate subject matter in a year and a half during a pandemic when you lack substantial resources to draw from. Jay dropped a verse about being a 52 year old billionaire. His creativity is gone.

    3. Young Guru needs to fall back now. How is this proof lol? How do we know he didn’t hide the other takes?
The verse is okay b, get his nuts outta your mouth

    4. not tough to comp vocals into one file in Pro Tools, even easier to delete all the other takes, clear the disc cache and rename the file “Take 1”. In all actuality that would take about 10 seconds to execute for any engineer worth their weight. Everything that they do is designed to propel the mystique that Sean Carter is some kind of god, hence the constant reference to himself as Jay Hova. Even on this verse he referred to himself as God numerous times. Don’t believe the hype, this is all orchestrated to maximize the marketing.

      1. U sound like a hater. Everything seems impossible when you can’t do it. He is God,so is every other black man. Psalms 82 if you don’t believe me and other places in the good book

        1. Someone telling the truth is not hate. What Jay does whether on purpose or ignorantly is blasphemy. Stop misappropriating Psalms 82. People conveniently omit the part where it says but you will die like men.

I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. Psalms 82:6-7

Don’t be deceived the way Eve was in Genesis 3. It was Satan who told even you won’t die disobeying Gods word but you will be gods. This is deception. Although we are gods now as a result of knowing good and evil there is ONE GOD who is Jehovah aka Jah. The scribes revered the name of the LORD so much they wouldn’t pronounce it and also why throughout the scriptures it is GOD/THE LORD rather than his actual name yet Jay z arguably a nonbeliever adopts the most highs name without ever giving a testimony. 25 years in people don’t know what Jay believes. What we do know is he rather let people think he is some god of not the GOD. Again blasphemy.

And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. Exodus 6:3

That is why it’s blasphemous for Jay to refer to himself as Hov especially when he is on the record admitting to not reading the Bible.

The spirit of the antichrist is apparent.
